Glory Roll
Serving up homemade doughy goodness since 1972, Old West Cinnamon Rolls is considered my some to be the best cinnamon rolls in the country.
We had passed by this place many times on our travel up and down the Central Coast, but never made time to get some--and boy, were we missing out!
The Good:
*Despite all the hype and race reviews, they still don't disappoint. I found them to be not as sweet as you'd think looking at them but had great texture, flavor, and cinnamony goodness.
*The older lady (didn't catch her name) working the counter was my kind of gal. Sweet, sassy, and full of piss and vinegar. Every restaurant needs one of her.
*Carissa got a latte, and she said it was surprisingly good.
*At less than $5/ea, they are a good value as one of these bad boys with a glass of cold milk, and your appetite is done and dusted.
*Street and lot parking available
*You're only a stone's throw from the Pismo Beach Pier
*Lots of SWAG for sale, as well.
The Meh:
*Carissa claimed the interior was a "little dusty," but I honestly could care less and didn't really notice tbh. Just give me the rolls, and nobody gets hurt!
The Ugly:
*Whatever you do, don't show your cardiologist this video: https://youtu.be/jTp_s5xHbMQ?si=-DQt96VqauI_AK9c
Conclusion: If you like cinnamon rolls, then be prepared to be ruined for life. I dare say that maybe only the Pennsylvania Amish might be the only ones that could compete with these bad boys, and they ain't nowhere to be found here in Pismo.
