The Ride-Along Report: First Takes From Last Night’s Dinner

"What It Is: A bright Italian restaurant in Tribeca with nice pens and good chicken Perfect For: Date Night, Drinks And A Light Bite A Summer Day Cafe is in the same Tribeca building as Holy Ground (the two restaurants also share an owner), and we stopped by for dinner recently. Unlike Holy Ground, which is in the basement, this place is at street level, with big windows and lots of plants. The Italian-leaning menu has dishes ranging from fried pizza dough to black bass crudo and roast chicken, and they range from solid to very good. The prices are high, but we blame Tribeca for that. The Verdict: Keep A Summer Day Cafe in mind the next time you need a cool place that isn’t impossible to get into." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg, chris stang, matt tervooren

We had a fantastic brunch at Ol’Days in Tribeca. The drinks were a standout—perfectly crafted mocha and cappuccino that hit the spot. For food, the Grandmother’s Buttermilk Pancakes were warm, fluffy, and comforting, just like the name suggests. We also tried the Midsummer Lentil Bowl, which was beautifully balanced with earthy lentils and sweet roasted beets. Everything felt fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and true to the farm-to-table concept. Highly recommend for a relaxed, high-quality meal in a cozy setting.

We tried this place on a whim and it was a good experience. We walked in and there were a few tables available. Our order was taken in a timely manner and the staff was kind and welcoming. The food took a while to arrive, but it was delicious and plated beautifully. The eggs were fluffy and I recommend having some. My partner ordered the "Champ Pancakes" but was disappointed that the plate served contained a singular pancake. I would recommend updating the menu if this is the norm to avoid false advertising. He liked the food still and enjoyed his specialty drink. The ambiance was nice and there is a bathroom for customers. The decor was beautiful and there were nice murals of lemon trees that went well with the interior.

We recently visited this place for breakfast and I have to say, it was fantastic! We had a vanilla cappuccino that was perfectly crafted, and the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich was awesome. The sandwich is huge and the croissant was flaky and delicious. Plus, the atmosphere was great and the service was on point. I’m giving it 5 stars for sure!

Google
Such a good place. Pleasant cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. I had shakshuka and eggs with bacon and mushrooms - it was so good. This is my first time there and I’ll definitely come back😊

This is one of the few places in NYC I’d be excited to go to brunch at. The vegan/vegetarian options are abundant, you’re not relegated to a menu of eggs — there’s toasts, burgers, bowls, and of course my favourite: vegan waffles 😍. I’m not one to eat a fully sweet meal, but a good waffle HITS. Especially given how infrequently I come across them (RIP Quantum Leap in West Village). The lentil burger was also really good, and there’s enough on the menu that I’ll be back to try more! Amazing post WSH run meal. Can’t wait to eat my way through the menu (and the drinks!! gotta try the juices next, but the mint lemonade was <chefs kiss>

Google
Was easy to get a table when reserved on the same day. The food was good, the portion size was appropriate. A good variety of items were available for brunch, would recommend to give it a try!

Google
Food was pretty good, drinks were great and unique. Everything was beautifully presented. Service was courteous but slow, especially to get the check. Nice place overall to grab coffee/breakfast and have a chat.

Google
Spacious place, nice vibes. Food is average I would say. Got the shakshuka and tapioca balls, were mediocre. Quantity was just enough for one person. Matcha latte was nice. Got their fruit plate side, good quantity and fresh variety.

Yelp
gaston best server! really attentive and nice. food was really good! i got the chipotle chicken super duper yummy

Yelp
Nice spot for brunch in a nice country style setting. There are plenty of seats inside, so even though it was busy on a Sunday we were able to walk in. Good quality coffee. Cortado, cappuccinos were good. You can also get very large sized lattes which look like soup bowls! The menu had a range with lots of breakfast items and healthier salad/bowls sandwiches. You could enjoy breakfast brunch or lunch here. We enjoyed the pancakes to share and and the shakshuka and avo croissant. Sometimes we had to wave the staff down to get a water refill, and my friend had her plate and cutlery whisked away before she'd finished her last bite.

Yelp
Overall not a great experience. I would not recommend Food: the food was extremely bland and took a very long time. Reservation: the wait time was quick Service: nothing noteworthy Ambiance: nothing noteworthy

Yelp
Really cute place! Came here with a party of nine for a bridal brunch and the service was quick and they were pretty accommodating when we needed to split our checks into four separate tabs. I ordered the shakshuka, and I kinda wish it was slightly more soupy? The dish itself was also on the smaller side than what I'm used to this dish being. I also felt the tomato base was a little dry but the avocados that came atop the dish were plenty and fresh. The pita on the side was also pretty good.

Yelp
Place was small and cozy just like any restaurant in NYC. The restaurant was kind to take us in as a walk-in for a group of three for brunch. We only had to wait 15minutes for our table. The food we ordered came quickly. Each dish was tasty & fresh. The coffee hit the spot for a very cold morning.
google avatar

Kristie P.

Yelp
Great place for a group brunch!! Service was great as well as the drinks. I loved the short rib bun, the green sauce for the yuca fries is SO YUMMY! I got the tapioca bites out of curiosity but wouldn't recommend, they were kind of bland. They also make their own cold-pressed juices and have a ton of food and beverage options. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Very pretty place with lemon trees and a light, flowery feel. The menu for breakfast has a number of options and the foot came out quickly after we ordered. Breakfast was filling and interesting.
google avatar

Yelp
Good and bad food and drinks, depending on what you get. The pink latte was delicious (and beautiful) but the chai latte tasted like slightly flavored milk. The Patagonia Bowl was alright, the dressing was really foamy and watery, and wasn't super cohesive with the rest of the ingredients. We were sat upstairs, which was ridiculously stuffy and had no AC or fans. We were all dripping by the end of our meal. We were also kind of forgotten by the waiters upstairs.

Yelp
This spot really surprised me..I was not expecting much. My friends and I were trying to just find a spot to eat at and we stumbled upon this spot. The menu may seem like your usual brunch spot, but the food was What we ordered: Sweet Burrata Toast Vegan Burger with a side of Yucca Fries Homemade Yogurt Egg Croissant Steak Sandwich I am keeping this spot in mind if I'm ever in the area.

Lauren M.

Yelp
The food here is very good and the menu is quite large. There are a number of vegetarian/vegan options as well. You won't be disappointed with any dish you choose. They also have a variety of drinks - coffee drinks, NA drinks and alcoholic drinks too. I have to deduct two stars because the service here is always terrible. Even if the restaurant is nearly empty, service is inattentive. There are many staff members just idly standing around sometimes while you are waiting 15 minutes for your order to be taken. The last time I came here, I had to ask the server twice for water, as it was never brought to us when we sat down. The food can sometimes take a while too, so manage your expectations. Overall, I think this place has great potential and a great menu, but the staff needs to improve greatly.

Yelp
Came on new years eve. The location is pretty close to a lot of train stations, so there are many transportation options. I loved the interior which had a cozy country side feel and decorated with lots of lemons. My party was promptly seated. We each got something. I got the eggs any style which came with bread (the bread was really good), eggs, and potatoes/ carrots. We also got the French toast, which was delicious and came with fresh fruits. The acai bowl also had nice toppings and granola was very fresh. We got the cheese board too which I wasn't too impressed by. There was a selection of three cheeses on the plate, some pita, nuts, olives, and honey. I'm not sure if pita was the best choice for the cheese, which tasted like something store bought for a charcuterie night at home. Servers were nice though and made sure we had a good time. Bathroom was clean and simple. This could be a nice place to come if you're looking for something simple, not super heavy and overseasoned, the ambiance was good for conversation.

Yelp
While I had a great time at the restaurant overall due to the attentiveness and customer service of all staff I encountered it's a nah for me. My friend and I had a reservation on a nice Saturday late afternoon and arrived a little earlier than expected. We were immediately seated by the host. My friend had the French toast with a side of eggs and bacon and I had the waffles and bacon. I sent the waffles back, because they were too gooey and chewy-like. I ordered the pancakes as a replacement and they were so good with the perfect texture and taste (a hint of orange flavor but not too overpowering). I also ordered extra bacon because it was just that good. The waiter was happy to take away my once bitten waffles and replace them with an order of pancakes with no fuss, and I didn't have to wait too long for the pancakes to come out either. Still, those waffles being so distasteful turned me off. Plus, my friend did not like her eggs. The restaurant is quite cozy and it looks like they have to-go orders as well. There is an upstairs which is spacious and seats people fairly well. Shout out to the pancakes but nah to the waffles.

Yelp
Make reservations to avoid waiting because this place is popular and for good reason. My friends and i throughly enjoyed our brunch. The atmosphere is very chill. All the food was good and fresh. It didn't take too long. And the cocktails were yummy. Nothing bad to say and 100% satisfied.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon, the place was fully booked and people were waiting in line inside to be seated, would definitely recommend making a reservation if you're looking to come here on the weekend. The decor and interior gives off a cozy home-y vibe, definitely feels like a classic brunch specialist cafe. I'll say the food was good all around, the pita and hummus was solid, not watery at all and not drenched in oil. The sunrise platter was packed with fresh fruits and delicious toast and cheese. The ginger tea with honey was perfect for the cold winter weather. Will definitely return here in the future.
google avatar

Sandy X.

Yelp
I found this place from an artist I found on instagram and decided to try this place after admiring at his delicious art. We came in specifically for the waffles and they didn't disappoint. The waffle had the right amount of soft and crispiness to it. When paired with the fruits it was divine. Also got a matcha latte from here and thought it was pretty good and standard. Definitely would come back for the waffles!

Yelp
I really want to like this place more because it's farm to table and very nice inside and a great ambience for lunch, but the food just doesn't quite hit the spot. I've been here twice for a team lunch, and I like that all the ingredients are fresh and dishes are healthy, but the flavor isn't there. I got the salmon brioche the first time, but they ran out of brioche, and there was nothing special to it to tie the ingredients together. It felt just like smoked salmon with avocado on bread, something I could make myself. I got a salad the next time with poached eggs, but it wasn't very flavorful and the carrots were a little weird. Both dishes were close to $20 each. I'm all for healthy food, but at this price point I want it to taste good too! Maybe come here for brunch instead?
google avatar

Katrina W.

Yelp
We came here for a double date. The interior is super cute/aesthetic. For my main, I got the Sweet Burrata Toast. I loveddd it and it was very filling. It featured a tomato chutney which added great flavor. The coffee is also quite good here.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Solid choice for brunch. We had the Patagonia salad, Ham & Gruyère sandwich on a croissant and a Ham & Gruyère sandwich on brioche with a side of fried eggs and country potatoes - all good. Nice combination of ingredients in the Patagonia salad and the potatoes were nicely prepared (though the portion size was a bit small) Very nice atmosphere - bright and airy with pleasant music in the background.

Yelp
First time we were here was great but second time there were so many issues. We sat on the second floor and got treated with mouse catchers. - Coffees were cold and exteremely bitter. - potates were half baked and cold. - salmon brioche's bread was almost frozen and didn't taste good at all. - all foods arrive cold (eggs, avocado toast, ...) - the service was slow

Yelp
We ate nice breakfast, Shakshuka , Aci and good coffee , we enjoyed the nice place and the background music , in Tribeca Manhattan

Yelp
Went here for brunch and they have amazing gluten free waffles! The drinks were also good. I forgot what it was called but it's like a blue coconut latte. The noise levels was a bit high though

Yelp
My first brunch experience in NYC was amazing!! This place is so aesthetic and very modern. The staff was super friendly the entire time and dressed very well. And finally the food was superb. I got the eggs screamed with mushrooms as my veggie of choice and the homemade ketchup (which seemed homemade not entirely sure) and the bread on the side. The entire meal was delicious and I'd love to return here!

Mary M.

Yelp
Went to lunch at Ol' Days with a friend and it was lovely. We both got and very much liked the falafel bowl. The falafel was crunchy and tasty without being greasy. The hummus was delicious and creamy and the quinoa was perfectly cooked. The portions were spot on. I felt full without feeling overly stuffed. The service was very good and the server was pleasant. they did not hover or bug us alot while we chatted away. We were not in a hurry, so I wasn't watching the clock, but I would say the food came out pretty quickly -- probably a bit over about 15 minutes after we ordered. The ambiance was bright and chill and roomy. It was nice to sit at a table without feeling jammed in and knocking elbows with your fellow restaurant goers. I was 100% go there again.
google avatar

Emma F.

Yelp
Nice brunch spot and we were able to get a reservation last minute. Loved how big the space was and how much natural light the space got. Menu was classic brunch fare. Staff were busy but overall very nice. Only complaint is that they seemed to take a lot of reservations so even though we arrived on time, it took a while to get seated.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
Amazing fresh farm to table breakfast and wonderful service with our waitress Emily. Would come again!!

Christy V.

Yelp
Was looking for a cute place to have breakfast. That it was great. Adorable inside and dog friendly, which I loved. He sat down and waited quite a while to get our order in, which was fine because it was busy. We put our coffee order and our breakfast order in at the same time. Our breakfast arrived, not complete, and our coffees had still not arrived. We got the wrong coffees (45 min after ordering) after we were done eating and were still expected to pay for them. Bummer of a breakfast.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
I dined here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We opted to dine outside and had wonderful service. The food was delicious. I ordered the Eggs Any Style with bacon. Everything from the presentation to the flavors was perfect! Highly recommend this dish. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with a natural ambience. Definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Gabriela C.

Yelp
food, service and ambience were perfect I will definitely return on my next visit. Ordered quesadillas rancheras and also french toast.
google avatar

Sucheta B.

Yelp
Popped in here to try their all day brunch concept. The burrata toast was delicious - the tomato chutney added so much flavor. We got the chicken and the steak sandwich - personally thought there was way too much bread and it was overpriced for what you get. Would be back to grab a coffee to go or for their burrata toast but likely not any other food until they switch up their menu.
google avatar

Chabely I.

Yelp
The place is so pretty to look at once you come in. The waiting staff is very nice and considerate. The plates are a pretty good portion and there are many more options to choose from. The drinks are pretty nice and packed with fruity flavor; plus they look pretty. I'd come back to this place for sure.
google avatar

Sanjana J.

Yelp
This is my first time at this lovely spot, newly opened in Tribeca. Loved the decor and ambiance from the moment I entered because the walls were draped with drawings of lemon and lemon plants. The Yellow hue gave off such a beautiful sunny, fresh aura! Great service - very friendly and attentive. I loved their beverage options, which included a variety of freshly squeezed and cold pressed juices. I personally went for their hot mocha since it was a cold morning and loved the consistency and flavor of the drink (not too sweet). The food overall was quite pretty. Almost every item was decorated with edible flowers. I would def like to see more flavor/taste incorporated into the dishes to match their aesthetic appeal. A fun place that I would definitely visit again!
google avatar

Mama K.

Yelp
This is a cute place in Tribeca. The decor is airy and pleasant. We liked the food (eggs for me, French toast for my cousin). The service was friendly but inattentive after we got our food. No refills were offered for the coffee. I was not happy after paying the bill to discover a $0.50 charge to get milk for my coffee. Really? With the high prices they charge for food, and $4.00 for a cup of coffee in the first place, you have to charge extra for *milk*? That seems really wrong!

Marie G.

Yelp
Ol' Days is super cute with a good amount of seating. My quesadillas were great and the waffles looked magical. Would definitely return!

Brittney T.

Yelp
I had the French toast with fresh fruit, a side of scrambled eggs, and a mocha! My sister had the mushroom and cheddar scrambled eggs and a latte! The food was delicious. Fruit was fresh! Coffee was great! Clean establishment, friendly service. Would definitely eat here again!
google avatar

Robert R.

Yelp
The staff get a 4-5. The service was good except all meals should come out together. We were 5, 3 had eggs at the table and we waited 5minutes for pancakes to show for the other 2. Not bad but you know eggs get cold quick. The overall place is very quaint. A little pricey but nyc.
google avatar

Angela Z.

Yelp
I pass this place most days and was always curious about it. Service was extremely slow from start to finish. I'm not sure how long it took to take our order, but it was long enough that I thought they had forgotten we were there. I do know that we got our food over an hour after we sat down. Two items we ordered were forgotten. The side of bacon we ordered turned out to be two slices served at room temperature. Food was OK - nothing to write home about, and one of the people eating with us said their chicken was completely unseasoned. Can't say I'd come back.
google avatar

Nia P.

Yelp
This place kept us waiting for a long time. I felt it was a tad bit racist we asked for jam for the toast and they brung us hot sauce. People who came in before us were in and out. We waited a long time to be served. We had 3 different servers within the time we ate. Me and my friend asked for simple syrup and they gave us one shot for us to share. The restaurant was cute but don't waste your time. The food was just okay and it was relatively cold.
google avatar

Cynthia K.

Yelp
This place is outstanding. The food was delicious and probably one of the healthiest places in the neighborhood (they even make their own ketchup!). The server went out of his way to make my family feel comfortable as we went with 2 very energetic toddlers. I can't recommend it enough.
google avatar

Mandy K.

Yelp
Lots of seating with bright natural lighting. The food was decent. The toasts were small in portion size. Preferred the mushroom one the most. Could replace cheese with vegan cheeses. The tapioca bites were nice. The Buddha bowl was on the sweet side. Overall good was ok but a lovely cafe to meet friends or have a relaxed weekend brunch.
google avatar

Hallie F.

Yelp
The environment is very light and airy and the food was fantastic, I was full all day after my meal and the food and coffee was both gorgeous and delicious. It was a nice farm-to-table treat in tribeca
google avatar

Sunny M.

Yelp
Food is solid but the waiter told us ~30min is their usual wait time after ordering which is much slower than most of other brunch places we have been (and we were there at like 1pm. The decor inside is very nice though!
google avatar

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Lovely place, good service, but the food was just ok. The presentation was really pretty for everything from the lavender matcha (better than it sounds) to the falafel (which is an inherently ugly food even if delicious.) For basically mediocre food it is a bit pricier than others in this pricey neighborhood. The waffle was agreed to be not great. The sandwich with eggs and tenderloin and veggies was very average other than the tenderloin which was stringy and overcooked. One plus: There are good vegan options which is always a plus (It seems like there is always at least one vegan in the group) and lots of healthy fare.

Elli S.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service! We booked 9 people for breakfast/lunch at 11am on a Friday, they put us upstairs in the loft. Very clean, comfortable seats and ambiance. They got us delicious coffee and fresh squeezed oj, and we ordered. Food came out perfect timing and absolutely delicious. Everyone in our group was taking pics of their plates for IG, they looked so good. I had the waffle with real maple syrup, fruit and coconut cream. They can make GF or vegan, My friend next to me had the fresh falafel bowl. All clean fresh ingredients and fresh. Just spectacular! Really can't say enough about Ol' Days Coffee spot, other than, we will be back soon!

Eamon M.

Yelp
Slow service. Attempted to pop in for a quick lunch on a week day but it turned into a disaster. Most of the time was spent waiting around for food and even spent 25 minutes trying to get the check.

Jose J.

Yelp
I love this place our server Juana is great, very attentive and polite and their food is delicious, love the arepas.

Kevin S.

Yelp
They sat us upstairs and didn't come to take our order after giving us water. 30 minutes later we decided to leave and won't go back or recommend to anyone.

Christina W.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood. Perfect to grab a quick coffee to go (good alternative to Kaffe around the corner w huge lines ). And love there's a good breakfast meet up spot that's a change of pace from the Lễ Pain in the neighborhood. The food itself was delicious. Very fresh and ripe ingredients. I had the mash pancake and it was different, wholesome, and scrumptious. My friend had avocado toast which he also enjoyed. Service is very attentive and the space is beautiful and relaxing vibes. Lovely neighborhood spot!

Sivonyia B.

Yelp
The food was really good and fresh! I got the French toast and a side of fried eggs. The ambience was very peaceful. Lots of plants and there's a lot of seating. Excellent service. Great brunch spot

Sharon S.

Yelp
Really great concept and healthier options. Nice decor but the place is really poorly managed and owners should focus on fixing service and management of the place. It took over an hour to get the food and over 15 minutes to order it. The coffee was waiting on the bar and arrived cold. People around us were walking over to try and pay and check on their food. Great potential but poor delivery
