A popular Danish bakery, and while my experience was mostly enjoyable, there were a few mixed moments. I tried the Cinnamon Swirl which I had high hopes for, given the bakery's reputation. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. The swirl looked beautiful with its golden brown layers and cinnamon sugar dusting, but the texture was noticeably dry. It lacked the moist, buttery richness that I was expecting from such a pastry, which made it somewhat underwhelming. However, what redeemed the visit was the Vanilla Cream Cheese Spandauer - an absolute must-try. This was light, flaky layers filled with smooth, rich vanilla cream cheese. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, and the creaminess paired wonderfully with the crisp pastry shell. It was indulgent without being overly sweet, and I would come back just for this alone. The bakery itself has a warm, inviting atmosphere with a wide range of tempting pastries and sandwiches. Entrance faces south east and it is wheelchair accessible. Clean restrooms. In conclusion, while my experience didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I would still recommend this place for anyone seeking quality baked goods. I’ll definitely be returning to try more of their offerings!

Smoked salmon sandwich is descent, with arugula, cucumber, on a bread. The poppy seed bread has a good chew and crumb structure. Id like more smoked salmon if paying $12 for a sandwich, but maybe that’s asking for too much from a chain. Fresh veggies are always a plus. Bread top bun is hallow in the middle, is this normal? There’s a weird base sensation happening in the store, causing a strange vibration that doesn’t match the music or atmosphere. Loud coffee machine.

My daughter and I had a ham and cheese toastie on the most amazing bread. It was light and crunchy and perfectly balanced with the ham and cheese. I had a latte with half and half, and it was the best coffee I have had since being in the USA. While there was plenty of seating, it was a little frustrating to see people sitting at tables for 4 people when they could have taken a single. We had to cram around a table for 2, and there were 3 of us. The table was dirty, and I had to clean it up myself. The music was nice and they had a restroom. The service was slow, and the server was disinterested. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars.

Google
Why does the cappuccino taste like airport coffee. The desserts and pastries loooks interesting and I got a raspberry slice bc it looks yummy. It smells really good, and its layer was very seductive. The cup texture is nice but the cappuccino was not yummy and not foamy. The raspberry slice is like a wafer and pop tart texture, and I like it. It kinda taste like a poptart too w the jam. But the layers taste like crumble cookie crumbs.

Google
Solid bakery! Baked goods were solid and hot chocolate delicious, but the vibes were really nice and welcoming and a great place to both catch up with people as well as do work. Would come back!

Google
Nice new place near the Union square. Good looking display of pastries and breads. I took home 3 different laminated pastries, however was not really impressed. Not bad, but not so good that I would take a trip for it. Also on a smaller side, while price is steep. Probably will try something different when I'm in the area next time.

Im a student at BMCC and I I happened to walk past Ole and steen a few weeks ago. Wow was I blown away. The pastry selection they offer is vast and they have a wide variety of goodies to tame anyones hunger. The coffee is always really good and their barista Tony is always attentive and quick plus his knowledge of coffee and other drinks they offer makes it really easy to choose the best options. The staff as a whole always does a great job and I’m so glad this location opened up less then a year ago. Looking forward to more visits here.

Google
Latte was definitely nice and creamy. Not too bitter. 12oz for $5.93+taxes Blueberry muffin was too small and bit dry for $5.45+taxes. Most of the pastry section was empty on Saturday evening as compared to the pics I have seen in other reviews. Ambiance is nice. Plenty of sitting area. They have restroom.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cute little cafe... The croissant was perfectly baked and buttered, the fresh pressed juices were great, and best of all, the customer service was impeccable. One of the baristas, Tony, was super nice and even helped us pick out which juice to get. Would recommend for anyone looking to have a chill morning.

Yelp
Located across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel, this coffee shop called our name due to its proximity, logo, and welcoming storefront. My friends and I were in need of some coffee and light bites to start our day and they delivered. It's a fast casual chain with a variety of baked goods, savory and sweet and some more than decent coffee. We ordered and had our food and drinks within minutes... I had a coffee with steamed oat milk, another had a coffee and another had iced tea. We also had a croissant and cinnamon roll. We took everything to go but there is a seating area for those that choose to stay there. Side note: the logo is an "S" with an "O" around it and a queen on top, which was perfect because we were in town celebrating Queen Sloan's 50th birthday!

Yelp
The pastries and cakes here are quite good. I come here when I miss Tebirkes which they have on the menu as Copenhagener. I enjoy the laminated flaky dough and the subtle sweetness from the almond paste. I like their Danish Cheesecake and Matcha latte too.

Kyle R.

Yelp
I was with my friends and we came here for lunch. Pretty decently priced for Manhattan and the food was really good! Staff was friendly. Place was quite busy which was good to see. Really convenient place in financial district area.

Yelp
I was really excited to try the cinnamon social but it was pretty disappointing. The piece was huge though. But flavorwise, it was lacking. It wasn't particularly moist, in fact it was a little dry. Besides just sweet I don't know how else to describe it. There was a little cinnamon flavor but not that heavy. The location was nice. There's plenty of outlets and seating. Ordering via the app is easy. Overall: cinnamon social was a letdown

Yelp
It's my go to spot to grab a coffee and buy sourdough bread. Staff is friendly and service is well organized. It is specious cafe and you can enjoy your coffee while chatting with a friend.

Emma F.

Yelp
Dropped by here for a quick lunch. The sandwich wasn't bad, the matcha latte was a bit sweet.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
I've had different beverages here and they are usually pretty good. They have bread specials every week and you can get a big loaf which will probably last you the whole week. The food is overpriced and portions are snack sized. I recently bought a regular iced coffee and asked for oat milk. They charge extra which is fine but they put the littlest bit that my coffee barely changed color. The coffee was $7 so it was not worth it. You might as well go to Starbucks.

Alex P.

Yelp
The Copenhagener was tasty and flaky, had a light not too sweet almond filling, Sprinkled with poppyseed on top. Excellent pastry. The inside of this place did not feel clean. There was no antibacterial purell in the dispenser. Employees were semi helpful when I asked what they offered that was not too sweet. They did not include Copenhagener but when I asked they said yes, That also is not too sweet. I was able to spend less than $10 on a latte with almond milk and a pastry which for New York is quite good.

Yelp
This was such an exciting find! I absolutely love danish pastry, and I know any Danish place (should) have good coffee... and Ole and Steen did not disappoint!! They did the cortado right, which is rare, even at more upscale coffee shops. And on a Sunday morning we had super quick service, too. They also had a huge assortment of pastries. We tried a few, but the favorite was definitely the lemon "danish" (I forget the name), it was perfectly flavorful, not too sweet, and just a good treat. I accidentally found this place and am so glad I did!

Maria M.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick coffee and snack- Nice ambiance and good service- Coffee and bakery stuff is good-Would recommend it for quick coffee runs.

Angelina A.

Yelp
The pastries were very dry and unimpressive. Will not be back. Save your money go to takayachi down the street.

Sara D.

Yelp
This is an awesome little place to get out of the cold and have a delicious hot cocoa. They had a ton of plugs to charge your device, it was clean and warm. The got a spinach pastry that was absolutely delicious.

Jaimee A.

Yelp
This is a good lunch spot! The danishes are good,, the sandwiches are very good and their seasonal treats are great! We also very much like their coffee. Their shops are comfortable and welcoming. The only downside is no matter what I eat here, I am hungry 15 minutes later. This may be more of a me problem than the restaurants but it is a consistent issue.

Aparna B.

Yelp
Just a typical coffee shop. I had some time to kill before my brunch so I stopped into the FiDi location. It's a rival Scandinavian cafe with coffees, pastries and bread. The staff was friendly and the space was very modern! My oat milk cappuccino cost around $8 though so not sure it's worth the price

Bobbi E.

Yelp
What a sweet find in the City! We were cold and hungry when we stumbled on Ole & Steen! Amazing hot chocolate and pastries; and the sandwiches looked yummy as well. A must eat place in NYC

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I love ole and Steen so I was so happy to see a location in FiDi. The rye crisps are light and crispy. The chocolate rye bun is delicious- filled with rye, seeds and chocolate chips.

Maria F.

Yelp
Best Hot Chocolate I've ever had! The marshmallows are one of a kind!Pastries are incredible and hard to choose from (they even heat them up!)

jane Z.

Yelp
That's really amazing! When I was sitting in this coffee shop waiting for my coffee, enjoying the street view, the shop was about to close for some unknown reason. I was the last person to leave. The owner gave me a free cup of coffee. Hahaha, yeah. The coffee was very helpful, thanks!

Hannah W.

Yelp
Can you get full for under $3 in NYC? It sounds quite impossible ... until I chanced upon the "Rye Roll" at Ole & Steen. I was in a hurry, so thought of getting a small pastry just to lessen the feeling of hunger. I chose the rye roll because I like rye and pumpkin seeds. I ate it while walking to my destination ... and was totally surprised at how full I felt before I finished it! It was that substantial! And delicious too! Next time I was in NYC, I made a point to go there and buy a few of this amazing roll to share with my family. Now I am hooked with this magical little roll, and can't wait to try other things next time.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Tried the strawberry and black pepper scone. Initially, I was a little off-put by how cold and hard it was. But inside, the scone was actually really light and fluffy. It was sweet, and slightly spicy from the black pepper. A really delicious pastry. Service was ok, pretty quick, but no offer to heat it up?

Laura H.

Yelp
The space was large, airy, and spacious, with plenty of seating even at noon on a Friday. The coffee was fine--flavorful without being scorchingly bitter. The sourdough was also pretty good value, at around $6 for the entire loaf. The outside was crusty and the inside was well-laminated. I wished it was less salt and more yeasty, but it was indeed sour. Service does take a while, but on the upside, there's plenty of places to sit and charge up!

Madeline A.

Yelp
I stumbled into this coffeeshop and was pleasantly surprised to find a vegan chocolate rye bread (delicious!) to pair with my oat latte.

Paola ..

Yelp
Service was great, barista was very nice. Coffee is pretty good. Turkey and cheese baguette and roast beef sandwich were incredibly stale and cold.

Chloe L.

Yelp
most abysmal customer service ever. my fiance and i were at the counter about 45 minutes after they opened. there was nobody else in line and about 3 people in store (already eating/drinking). my fiance repeatedly asked "oh excuse me, ma'am, what are these?" about one of the chocolates 3 TIMES to the lady behind the counter. she looked at him each time and ignored him. he doesn't have an accent, 100% american lmao. she only finally answered with an eye roll after i said that he had asked three times and that she was being deliberately rude. how were we supposed to know that those turd looking things were marshmallow? needless to say, we walked out without purchasing; but 45 minutes after opening and the floor/tables were already disgusting?? i wouldn't come back if they paid me

Toby H.

Yelp
Ole and Steen has great food, good atmosphere and great location but the service is amazing lackadaisical even for New York standard. Half of the time they forgot my order and i have to interrupt someone to find out what happened to my order.

Wc M.

Yelp
Food is excellent -- have had sandwiches and desserts alike and haven't been disappointed. There are often season foods and drinks, like the lavender lemonade that was just introduced. The barista, Tony, is very welcoming and always has a great drink recommendation, and makes a mean cortado. There are always available tables to relax or do work -- great ambiance.

Hannah S.

Yelp
This location has a nice assortment of baked goods, coffee, and some seating. There is free wifi and space to eat with friends and family, or work along the ledge seating that has close access to outlets. The service was quick, and the prices are typical for a cafe in NY. I got a latter which was strong and not sweet, so depends on your preferences. The oatmeal was only $1 and very yummy.

Bloss C.

Yelp
I visited the recently opened Ole & Steen this morning and was impressed by the variety of their menu. Bakery items, sandwiches, and salads galore; I am sure they will popular at lunch time. I tried the complementary cinnamon social, which was a little sweet for me, and the savory spinach swirl, which was fantastic. I am looking forward to trying their sourdough bread.

Teri M.

Yelp
Great coffee and food. Friendly service. And Tony adds another layer of hospitality with his kind interest in his patrons.

Mark M.

Yelp
Grand Opening at this location is in a couple of days however they had a pop-up cart offering a sample of free coffee and select pastries. The Chocolate Swirl was quite good. Love the brown sugar and the flakiness. Coffee was spot on as well. Will certainly make a point to swing by on way to the office many mornings. Looking forward to trying the Turkey Sausage Breakfast Roll and many others.

Robert L.

Yelp
Ole & Steen truly changed lower TriBeCa's fast casual coffee game. Phenomal pastries and sandwiches. I strongly recommend.

Kate G.

Yelp
Food is always good...service here needs work. Also, a ham and cheese croissant is different than a breakfast sandwich. But I didn't realize it was the wrong item until back to my hotel. ‍

Jessica W.

Yelp
i came in for a chai and i waited nearly 10 minutes for them to make mine, all while everyone who had order after me had already gotten their drinks. And on top of this my chia tasted just like hot water. i an extremely disappointed after paying nearly 6 dollars for a small cup of chai.

Beatriz R.

Yelp
This place is amazing with great people, the best customer service! Coffee is amazing. Beatriz

Sam K.

Yelp
the cinnamon social is amazing had it with a chai latte truly a magical combo also shouts out to tony hes truly a bright star who will brighten your day
