Biscuits are king at Olga Rising - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This cafe looks like a cross between a fairy garden cottage and a European sidewalk bistro, and we’re all in. Biscuits are the main event. They’re great with strawberry freezer jam and salted butter, or constructed as a cheesy sausage breakfast sandwich with arugula and maple-soothed sriracha. The other pastries, like bouncy Rome-style maritozzi and tart lemon cupcakes, perform swimmingly as supporting characters. Food Rundown Maritozzi This pristine Pac-Man-shaped brioche sports a cultured cream-pumped gullet. Alongside a cappuccino, the thing’s an ideal solo breakfast before exploring Downtown Eastsound. photo credit: Makena Yee The Classic We’re huge fans of this comforting breakfast sandwich, which includes egg, sausage, sticky cheddar, and a maple-sriracha condiment. It’s fantastic, but drippy—have a Tide Pen on deck. photo credit: Makena Yee Doe Bay Same idea, only with amplified pizzazz from Mama Lil’s and slow-cooked tomato jam. A winner. photo credit: Makena Yee Grandma’s Biscuit Biscuit purists rejoice. photo credit: Makena Yee" - Aimee Rizzo

Super cute place with amazing food, great coffee, and excellent customer service. Highly recommend. We sat at at outdoor cafe table and enjoyed a yummy oat dirty chai, americano, the Benedict and and substituted the ham for veggie sausage. All great!

Google
Loooong line and pretty pricey for an egg sandwich but it was excellent. The biscuits are flakey and buttery and we enjoyed a soft scone too

This place is fantastic! The food is great, especially the sandwiches and pastries—they’re fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The seating area is cute and cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome, which adds to the overall experience. The store itself is charming, with lots of awesome items to browse and buy, making it more than just a cafe. I’ll definitely be coming back for both the food and the delightful atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Google
Had the biscuit breakfast sandwhich a few days ago and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. I’ve brought it up to my boyfriend possibly 20 times since our visit just to say “I can’t stop thinking about that breakfast sandwhich”. I cry knowing that I left the island and can’t get it everyday. The lattes were also very good.

Stayed on the island for 5 days and ate lunch here once and breakfast twice. Being a part of the food industry, I can attest that this food was truly something special. The curry chicken sandwich and boysenberry lemonade (which I had them make sparkling) were exceptional, but what I’m still thinking about was that Olga rising breakfast sandwich and their cinnamon rolls. I’m going to wake up thinking about them for at least 3 months, if not longer. I’m back home and trying to figure out how to make my own homemade version of that sandwich. I probably won’t be able to, and for that reason alone I have to get back there asap. Mostly the same people working there each time we went and they were crushing it with smiles on their faces. The inside market was really dope as well and I wish I had space in my bags to bring some local stuff home. Great patio right outside, but also a nice little park across the street you can eat at. Give this place your money.

The biscuits on the sandwiches are SO GOOD. The coffee was great and the patio seating is so cozy and pretty! Service was prompt and friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

Google
I've been here a couple times, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Their sandwiches are delightful. I had the Olga rising breakfast sandwich, and my partner had the Benedict and umm another one I forgot the name of. The person behind us kept saying that they had arrived late, so idk what he knows that I don't, but I was satisfied with the selection of pastries, sandwiches, and coffees. The folks working here are friendly and they are amazingly fast. Probably ten sandwiches were ordered ahead of ours and we didn't really wait that long. The birds are thugs, tho, so watch out. 🐦⛓️

Yelp
Stopped here for coffee. There isn't much open on a Wednesday morning. The service was quick and friendly. There is plenty of seating and the garden is very pleasant. The Island Latte is delicious. The baked goods look amazing, fresh, and there is a good variety. I plan to come back for the honey cake.

Yelp
Great coffe and even better sandwiches! Beautiful little shop with great staff. The grilled cheese was really good and the wait wasn't too bad when it's busy

Yelp
This place hit the spot! I had the Italian and my partner had the Tuna sandwich. The flavor was good and each sandwich came with a small bag of chips. The bread tasted fresh and it was a large roll! My only wish was that there was more meat in my sandwich. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well, but wished there was an option to get it toasted. The cashier and sandwich makers were very friendly and our order came out quickly. There is a lot of outdoor options for seating which was perfect for the sunny day we visited Orcas! The spot itself is cute and cozy. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We visited this place two afternoons in a row after hiking and after lunches, to grab a little extra for the ferry back to Lopez. The coffee drinks were fantastic, and in compostable cups. The two baked goods we tried were among the best we've ever had: an almond cookie with raspberry jam in the middle of it, and a tea cake loaf thing. Neither of those are items I typically would have ordered, but would certainly jump at again given the chance. Really, really delectable. Also, they delivered fine service, music, and no waiting. They only have outdoor seating, so plan on getting it to go.

Yelp
Super cute spot in the center of Eastsound! Stopped by because of the line out front and wow did it deserve the popularity!! They were out of the pastry I was most interested in, so I grabbed a lemon scone and I swear it was the best lemon scone I've ever had!! They also allow substitutions in all of their drinks and food options to accommodate different dietary restrictions. I asked for a sandwich to have veggie sausage instead of meat and they accidentally sent it out with meat, but quickly made me a new sandwich when I asked about it. The staff were so friendly in general! Their drink specials are great with a highlight on local flavors (big time recommend the marion berry series). There's a small outdoors seating spot with canopy cover and free water! It's also a great location where you can easily walk to the beach and around the town area.

Yelp
Adorable shop. Lots of yummy baked goods, fun gifts, delicious food and good coffee. It was packed and they sell out so be sure to come with haste. I hope to be back when they're not out of gluten free buns!

Yelp
Sandwiches are amazing and great customer service! The desserts are also very tasty. Highly recommend

Yelp
We had the classic biscuit sandwich and asked the to split it which they did. It was heavy and delicious! And we golden milk and Americano and both were food. They're busy.

Yelp
I have only left one other Yelp review in my life but this place was so amazing that I needed to tell everyone! I got the Olga Rising breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was perfect, the cheese was like broiled onto the bottom biscuit so it had wonderful crispy edges, and the jam on it was SUCH a great balance of sweet and savory. This might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I also got a cinnamon roll because I have zero self control. At first glance I thought it looked mediocre and probably not enough frosting. But I took it out of its little paper cup and it was like Cinnabon type cinnamon glaze on the bottom! So good! And there was actually more than enough cream cheese frosting. And the frosting was perfect too! Slightly tart and sweet, not super buttery. Also may have been the best cinnamon roll I've ever had! I was just blown away by accidentally having the best breakfast I've had in as long as I can remember. I'm so sad that I leave today and won't be able to eat here again.

Yelp
3.5 Service was great at this adorable little sandwich/breakfast/gift shop. Food- Unfortunately, the yummy looking garden frittata sandwich with roasted veggies had recently been combined with ham ....stirred in ahead of time, so they couldn't serve if sans pork. So, I had the turkey sandwich and my husband had the salmon sandwich. The Turkish buns were soft and tasty. Sadly, I didn't like the proportions, with 75% lettuce and just a bit of deli meat and one slice of cheese. The salmon sandwich seemed like canned salmon mixed with a lot of mayo and some dill. Again, the proportions were off and it seemed like mostly bread. The flavors were good, though. The shining star was the Nanaimo bar, which was spot on. The crust was tender with deliciously complex flavors, the cream layer a dream, and the chocolate on top delicious. The piece was expensive ($8) but very large. It was a $50 lunch, which was a lot for sandwiches and one piece of dessert.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast sandwiches. We waited in line and loved every sandwich. Plus the biscuits were great

Yelp
Perfect little coffee shop and baked goods to boot. The baristas made this place over the top. Treat you like a person. Had a conversation while waiting for the coffee to be made. Coffee was hot, flavorful, priced right.

Isabella B.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and breakfast sandwich! They have yummy veggie sausage patties available as a substitute. No indoor seating but cute outside spot and there are bathrooms across the street!

Yelp
Excellent service--very friendly. The turkey on the turkey sandwich was not high quality, even for lunch meat. The cheese was okay. The tomato & greens were fresh, as was the bun, which was delicious. The carrot cupcake is almost too beautiful to eat. But we will, despite the heavy frosting. The outdoor seating is lovely with comfy chairs and little tables. There's lots of shade. It is a lovely spot--just wished there was less bread, more & better quality protein in the sandwiches.

Yelp
We were camping in another part of the island and on the second-to-last day I decided to treat my family to Olga's biscuit breakfast sandwiches. Even factoring in we'd been eating pretty raw for a few days, these tasted rich, buttery and amazing. The shop is frequented by locals as well as off-islanders, so it was pretty busy but the ordered was filled in less than ten minutes. I love the decor, which is a throwback to when I was a kid on Orcas: lots of sensible wood, beachy stained glass, without the shabby chiq pretentiousness or rusty junkyard aesthetic of other shops in Eastsound. Theres an outdoor fining area and the help was pleasant and efficient.

Yelp
This is a place not to miss!!! The coffee, sandwich and soup were all phenomenal. Topped it all off with a delicious seasonal rice krispy treat. Warm, welcoming, and elevated! Don't miss the adorable shop!

Matt L.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches. The best cafe on the island... Nothing more to say.

Andy T.

Yelp
Got our order wrong. Left main item off the list. Way overpriced. Line out the door all morning.

RJ C.

Yelp
a really really cute place first of all!! a little pricey but that's anything on the island. the biscuits are SOOOOO good and the staff were super nice

Yelp
Was one of the few places open and I wasn't expecting much but was totally surprised at how amazing the sandwiches are!! I got the Italian and the bread was perfectly toasted and they were generous with the amount of meat and veg. I also got a honey cake and it was moist and balanced with notes of orange and pistachio. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a quick lunch. Great prices, service and food.

Robert W.

Yelp
Stopped by for a lunch sit down and loved the sandwiches, cappuccino and deserts.. top quality and fast service... loved the Bread!!.. cozy little seating area and weather was perfect. Bob W.

Pailyn S.

Yelp
The Island Classic breakfast sandwich was delicious!! The best breakfast sandwich I have ever had! They open on the days that others don't which makes it even better.

Yelp
Celebrated a big day with a couple sandwiches for me and my wife. Everything was wonderful and spot on. We are vegetarians and they have options. Used the online ordering option and it worked flawless.

K M.

Yelp
Service was superfast! The turkey on the turkey sandwich was very disappointing, it was the "smoked" cheap lunchmeat variety, not good quality. The bun and the rest of sandwich was good, pulled off the turkey and threw away, definitely not worth the price.

Lane W.

Yelp
Cute little coffee and sandwich shop. I got an iced vanilla latte and a lemon scone and both were delicious. Lots of outdoor seating with a good ambiance.

B P.

Yelp
I don't like giving bad reviews, especially in a community like Eastsound/Orcas (which I love) and I felt compelled. Keep in mind it's slim picking for a late lunch after 2pm, which is what my situation was, and I didn't want to go to a pub. I paid $21 for a microwaved egg sandwich and herbal tea. Took a bite. It was so bad that I threw it out and walked down the road for something else. Ended up at the Matador and the end of the road, which is, ironically, a pub. I got a spinach salad with chèvre and candied walnuts along with a salmon fish taco (3 tacos) for $28! It was good. Definitely WAY better than a microwaved egg sandwich for $21. Service was excellent. After that I couldn't not write a review. Total rip-off. They seemed to have some nice baked goods, so this place is probably better for a coffee and pastry if that's your thing.

Francis K.

Yelp
This is a lovely setting for enjoying a coffee and sweet or picking up a sandwich and going over to the park. The hearty sandwiches are a complete meal. So many creative options for lunch served by a friendly, gracious staff.

Miya C.

Yelp
Delicious baked good and coffee. Lavender lemon donut was devoured quickly. Specialty island latte was great

Anita E.

Yelp
Amazing biscuit breakfast sandwiches. Note that they can substitute vegetarian sausage. Golden milk was also great. Nice outdoor seating. We arrived between 9 and 10 am on a weekday and they were already out of several items on the menu.

Kim F.

Yelp
Fantastic. Delicious sandwiches (breakfast and lunch), good coffee, friendly and welcoming staff. Limited hours for the month I was working on the island during the off-season...which made it all the better to go there whenever I could, and added bonus to be able to support Island locals ho are building local business. Absolute must when on Orcas; highly, highly recommend!
