The Best Restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico | Eater San Diego

"Beyond the padel courts and olive trees on the grounds of Mya Hotel Boutique is a modern rustic dining room that features seasonal ingredients from the restaurant’s garden where each course centers on the farm-to-table menu. The eight-course tasting menu is designed by chef Eduardo Zaragoza, who previously cooked for chef Jair Téllez at Merotoro in Mexico City, and the now-shuttered landmark restaurant, Laja. Olivea’s rotating menu offerings might include an arrangement of bluefin tuna in a pool of leche de tigre, callo de hacha and chione clam over a pistachio puree, and 15-day aged duck paired with a silky mash of roasted carrots, depending on the season." - Bill Esparza

Olivea and Lunario Earn Michelin Stars in Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe | Eater San Diego

"Earned its first Michelin star in the latest guide and was also awarded a Michelin green star for sustainability; it sources produce from its own garden, practices organic farming, recycles greywater for irrigation, and powers operations with solar energy." - Bill Esparza

"Set inside a boutique hotel, this charming restaurant displays a confident simplicity and purity of flavor on a frequently changing seasonal menu. It wears its farm-to-table bona fides on its sleeve thanks to pristine produce that arrives daily from nearby acreage that is organically and sustainably tended. Guests select between multicourse vegetarian or seafood-forward menus, with a handful of à la carte offerings, and will find equal satisfaction in main dishes like their daily catch with a celeriac puree or grilled octopus atop mole blanco. Desserts, like caramelized plums with a purple basil sorbet or a squash-filled eclair with kohlrabi ice cream, are particularly intriguing." - Michelin Inspector

Olivea Farm to Table

"Located inside a boutique hotel fittingly dotted with olive trees, this charming newcomer is a promising addition to the local restaurant scene. The frequently changing seasonal menu displays a confident simplicity and purity of flavor, wearing its farm-to-table bona fides on its sleeve thanks to pristine produce that arrives daily from nearby acreage. Guests select between prix fixe options of four or eight courses (in warmer months, pizzas and ceviche are also available outdoors) and will find equal satisfaction in a warm salad of delicate greens and young vegetables, or a crisp-skinned dry aged duck breast with silky cauliflower purée. Desserts, like one combining orange and carrot sorbet with olive caramel, are particularly intriguing." - Michelin Inspector

It’s been 3 weeks since our amazing experience at Olivea and we’re still talking about it! What a treat Olivea is, it’s truly wonderful what they are doing here. You can feel the pride and dedication from every staff member and Angie the owner was so lovely, she made sure every table was made to feel welcome. From the vegetable garden tour before entering the restaurant to the perfectly executed 3hour meal, it was a seamless and extremely wonderful and absolutely delicious experience. We cannot wait to go back again and again! Officially our favorite spot in the Valley now.

I completely love this concept and support the vision of this restaurant. Most vegetables, fruits, and plants are directly grown in the restaurants garden next to the patio space. We got a personalized tour by the owner where we got a preview of the flavors of the dinner. They are also experimenting with cross flavors that were new to me and unbelievably intense. The 9 course dinner was exquisitely put together and well prepared. This is a restaurant I will definitely come back to.

This has to be our favorite dinning experience in all of the Valle de Guadeloupe!! So much so we came here twice this month alone (from San Diego). The first time, we discovered it by accident and had one of the most memorable dinning experiences -EVER. The talented chef was SO CREATIVE with vegetables - picked from only a few feet away in their enviable garden with a freshness that will ruin all other vegetables from now on. His cooking of the uniquely chosen local proteins leaves you in awe, but it is the vegetables that you will remember. We were so impressed, we had to return only a few weeks later. We were happily greeted with an entirely new (and equally delicious) menu! The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating - from the groundsman who greeted us in the evening with a flashlight from the parking lot, to the attentive staff, owner, and chef, who came from the kitchen to welcome us back on our second visit. We can't wait to return!

Wonderful experience overall. It was a privilege and an amazing sensory experience. The ambience and the food were just beautiful. The service was and attention to detail was great, without being overwhelming. The main reason for going of course is the food, and it did not disappoint. Every morsel was so tasty. Loved the vegetable garden tour. A gem in Valle de Guadalupe.

Deftly executed farm-to-table cuisine, with a staff as wholesome as the vegetables from their on-site garden (which you’ll tour and sample from, before your meal!). Creative but unpretentious fare, each dish delighted both the eyes and the palate. The rustic-modern interior was also a visual feast. Further, I appreciated how perceptive the staff was: my wife and I tend to prefer a faster paced meal, and without having to say anything, our dishes arrived with a perfect cadence: just quick enough, without feeling rushed. The folks at Olivea Farm to Table truly deserve their Michelin stars—both the red and green. Keep up the fantastic work!

Nested in the hills of Ensenada, Mya and Olivea are a fantastic retreat for peace of mind. We went for the 8 courses dinner, which was delicate and locally sourced (we actually got a tour of the garden from which the ingredients for our dishes came from!). The personnel is very attentive and welcoming. The experience is unique and they even have menus for vegetarian and gluten free. We recommend this experience 100%!

Amazing, delicious and organic. From the garden tour to the restaurant, every aspect of the restaurant experience was tailored for REAL farm to table experience. The vegetables we tasted in the garden were presented to us on the table according to each dish that was served to us. They have a vegetarian tasting menu and also a meat based one. Each dish was accompanied by an explanation and also a paired wine drink. The chef even came out to present a dish. Besides the restaurant, they have a coffee shop that had a tasty cold brew tonic. If you are looking for an authentic farm to table experience, come, take your time, relish in every flavor and smell and enjoy this unique culinary experience.

This restaurant is damn near close to perfect. By far one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Not only are the dishes extremely elevated and very well executed, the layout of the restaurant is fantastic and doesn’t have any overcrowding whatsoever but is still very cozy. The design is thoughtful and you want to explore the space. Also, there is a stunning wine storage in the center of the restaurant. The service was impeccable and our server, Alejandro, made us feel so welcome and at home even in such an elegant atmosphere. We selected our second bottle of wine directly from the storage room while he explained the different bottles to us from the ladder, very cool experience. We were also celebrating a birthday and they did a special little tiramisu that was so delicious. It’s sad to see a poor review on here from someone who doesn’t understand or properly appreciate the concept because this place is truly special and the care of the staff is very present and they deserve nothing less than 5 stars!
