DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. My daughter and I ordered a delivery from Ollie’s Sichuan which cost over $50. We ordered starters, and 2 mains, one of which comes with white rice, which we selected. Was given timeframe, but had to wait almost an hour extra hour on top of our delivery time. My daughter was so hungry and because we paid for it already, we couldn’t cancel our order. When the food came it was cold and the white rice was missing from the meal. Upon calling Ollie’s to ask for the rice to be delivered, I was put on hold many times without any notification and was then told that they will not deliver the rice to us because they don’t deliver at this address. This was a poor excuse not to bother, as they already delivered the food to us! They offered a credit rice, despite my efforts to inform them that I don’t live here. I informed them that we already paid for the meal which includes the rice, and she told me that I haven’t paid for it because it comes with the meal. A sad attempt to gaslight. At this point, you could clearly see the dishonesty and lack of customer service to rectify their mistake was never going to happen. So I left it; unsatified and my daughter hungry. Lastly, the food lacked salt and the soup depth of flavour, but the spring rolls and sweet and sour sauce were lovely. We received no acknowledgement of their mistake and no apology.

I have both dined in and gotten food to go from Ollie’s. Everything is always hot, fresh, flavorful and delicious. Their staff are nice and everything is always very quick. Prices are very reasonable, especially for their lunch special. I tried the double cooked bacon and their mapo tofu- both absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Ollie’s. I ordered sichuan dishes and not “American Chinese dishes” so I can’t comment on those.

Google
Came here prior to a show across the street. Seated quickly, service was super quick, the food was delicious! The best chicken and broccoli I’ve ever had, spare ribs were great. Fried rice was good, soup dumplings were not my favorite but they seemed homemade for sure and required 15 minutes to cook! My only down fall was how horrendous the bathrooms were. Clean bathrooms are important and they were really unkempt and not clean at all.

Google
I had roast pork chow fun, wonton soup and steamed pork bun. Their food is always fresh. The soup and bun were very good but the chow fun was excellent. I highly recommend Ollies.

Google
At first I was impressed by the food. However, I just opened my leftovers from 3 hours ago and there is a roach at the bottom of the rice. I almost threw up the food in my mouth. A baby roach meaning there is an infestation at this establishment. Will be seeking a refund this is grossing me out.

Google
The food was great, and the portion was satisfying. The chicken could be more seasoned but overall a great place to enjoy your lunch!

Google
They have the best hot and sour soup I've ever had in my 50+ years of life and it's vegetarian. The service is awesome as well!

Justin C.

Google
Ordered the braised whole fish for pick-up — fresh, authentic Sichuan flavor, and ready quickly. Great spot for quality Chinese food in Midtown.

Yelp
Ollie's lunch specials are very good, and a good deal, too. I did two take out orders...garlic chicken and the mixed vegetables. Each comes with a pint of white rice, and miso soup. I enjoyed each dish. The garlic chicken was an Americanized Cantonese- style with a reddish sweet and sour type sauce...done very well. The chicken is tender, nicely velveted, with tasty tree ear mushrooms. The mixed vegetables had a nice variety including asparagus and baby corn. Both came in a deceptively small container but were filled to the brim, perfectly adequate for one person, especially at lunchtime. The miso soup was excellent! Packing was good. The price was a real bargain. They have more authentic Chinese food available. I just did not order it this time. I hope to return for dinner to try other dishes.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have been going to Ollie's for years and we've never once been disappointed. The food is always plentiful and delicious. The service is always prompt and the waiters let you eat in peace. We've eaten our way through a decent portion of the menu over the years. The pricing is also pretty good, especially given inflation lately. During our most recent visit, we had the wonton in red sesame oil as an appetizer. That would be our favourite and most recommended appetizer. We shared a plate of roast pork udon noodles. I ordered the chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce for the first time, which may be my new favourite thing here. My girlfriend got the sweet and sour chicken, which is what kept her coming back to Ollie's for years. The entrees also come with bowls of white rice. The portions are always big and we always leave with enough food for another meal. We'll definitely continue to come back for years to come.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner at Ollies. They seated us right away, always made sure water was full and table cleared, were very friendly, prices were good and food was great. I loved my hot and sour soup and plan to stop by for lunch again on this trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice selection of dishes. Really wanted dim sum but went w/ lunch special: Ma Po Tofu w/ Brown rice & hot & sour soup. Perfect amount of spice for me in the Ma Po Tofu. I found it interesting that no one offered me chop sticksWait staff were attentive but not very welcoming to me or the other Caucasian who came in after me...‍

Yelp
This is our go-to spot when we're in Hell's Kitchen seeking seasoned tender roasted Duck with crispy steamed fresh string beans, consistently friendly customer service, and drinks. It is one of our favorite restaurants not only because the Duck is crisp and moist, but mostly because of the service. We feel as if we are welcomed to take our time, relax, and not rushed out like an assembly line. Did I mention that alcohol is available? Yassssss! Cheers. Ollie's is a great way to enjoy classic traditional Cantonese and Sichuan dishes, delicious drinks, and teas in the greatest city in the world. Please add them to your go-to list next time you're in NYC.

Yelp
Love this place .. Been going for 30 years .. love it. Great food .. staff .. eh .. go for the food!!
google avatar

Yirel M.

Yelp
Oh boy what a find! We started with some appetizers that were served quickly and piping hot. The service was prompt and cordial, with few suggestions so definitely know what you want before going in! Really enjoyed the duck and the noodles!!
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
The staff is very enthusiastic and can speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The menu has Szechuan, Hunan, Cantonese and Northeastern dishes, and there are so many different kinds of dishes that you don't know what to eat. I ended up ordering the restaurant's main course of Szechuan food, spicy chicken, chopped pepper fish fillet, cold cucumber, hot noodles, shrimp dumplings.
google avatar

Yelp
I lived in the Henan province for three years and I was shocked by how close to home this place is. I went here on a chance and I got the Mouthwatering Chicken and Dan Dan noodles. big portions, for a cheap price. And the spice and flavor was very bold. The atmosphere is very similar to any family owned restaurant in northern China that's been around for more than a decade. It's not classy but its homey.
google avatar

Diane J.

Yelp
My friend loves this place because he orders takeout from here all the time, but I thought it was just okay (relative to the other Chinese restaurants in New York). We ordered the Szechuan boiled fish, Hunan Chicken, and pea shoots. Everything was fine, and our waiter was very attentive.

Yelp
Was in town for a quick overnight and Ollie's was right across from my hotel. So glad I went. Had shrimp fried rice that was out of this world. Shrimp were big and plentiful and the dish was full of flavor. Likewise with the veggie spring rolls. Highly recommend.

Phyllis Y.

Yelp
The food was delicious and plentiful. I ordered delivery and plan on ordering again. Two of the dishes were buy one get one free (the dumplings and fried rice).
google avatar

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Honestly, didn't expect much because of the 3.4 rating. I'm sure there are dishes that are a hit and then a miss because they service a RANGE of Asian food. Thankfully what we ordered were all really good. We had the Yang Chow Fried Rice, Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Diced Chicken with Dried Chili. The service was great and the staff were attentive & nice. The interior is comfy and feels like a traditional Chinese restaurant. Overall, my friends & I enjoyed the food and experience.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Had the pork dumplings and the mai fun noodle with chicken. Both were delicious! Generous with the chicken in the mai fun! Love the food! Super flavorful and great portions.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
We ordered the crab tofu, the chinese cauliflower and bacon, and the pork dumplings. The crab tofu was pretty decent. Not as good as the one at Uluh in my opinion, but there was a little bit of the salty egg brininess and crab and soft tofu chunks again. Great over rice. The chinese cauliflower and bacon were amazing! The chinese cauliflower had so much flavor and was perfectly crunchy. The bacon were thinly sliced pork belly that was cooked in a really yummy savory sauce. There was also a ton of meat. The pork dumplings were pretty disappointing. It only came in 6 and had a small amount of meat in it and a pretty thick wrapper. I would likely not want to get this again. We got everything to go so I can't speak for service, but the food came nice and fast!

Yelp
I. Love. This. Place. Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in NYC. Not the cheapest but the portions are HUGE. Love the staff and convenient location in Hell's Kitchen - close to Times Square. Great place for lunch, pre theater dinner. They don't rush you when you are enjoying your meal. Large restaurant but sometimes has a wait. But worth it.

Frank W.

Yelp
Great Sichuan food with reasonable prices! Have to try these dishes if you like spicy.
google avatar

Priscilla S.

Yelp
A great place for a bite to eat. We happened to be there early afternoon and it looked like a good place as we saw locals Inside. The menu offered a wide variety of items, which at least for me makes for a difficult decision. Still, we placed our order as we were leaving NY that day. I got the wonton soup, excellent choice and my hubs got a combo plate. Great attentive service. Clean inside and comfortable atmosphere. Tasty, hot and would definitely go back.
google avatar

Alayna S.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel across the street and came to eat here twice. The food was AMAZING. Staff were very nice too!
google avatar

Komal R.

Yelp
Unassuming sichuan place walkable from Times Square. Just a couple of folks in their jammies on a cold Friday evening. Pork soup dumplings were slightly disappointing because of the thick texture and not so hot soup. The Beef noodle soup on the other hand was delicious and saw almost everyone ordering it. Have had better Dan Dan so wasn't particularly blown away with it. Worth the visit only if you are in the neighborhood otherwise do not bother.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
My husband and I came for a late night dinner and we absolutely loved the food here! The diced chicken with hot chili peppercorn was SO SPICY AND DELICIOUS (my husband ordered it again the next week on uber eats). I loved the beef noodle soup - it was very authentic and tasty. The portion of the vegetable was generous too. They close at 10pm and we arrived close to 9:40 and they still seated us and the food came very quickly. We will definitely come back often!
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
What a nice surprise here. Really wanted Chinese food but didn't want to go to Chinatown from midtown. This place scratched that itch. The dim sum was some of the best I've ever had. In fact, I'm ordering it for lunch at a trade show I'm at in NYC. It's highly rated and clean and that's all you need for a restaurant outside of Times Square. Very nice staff but it's the food that keeps you coming back. Mongolian Beef was crispy and tasty and the rice was not mushy and had a nice crispy taste to it. Really recommend coming here.
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
Found this place through Yelp and OMG this place was AMAZING! You will not be disappointed. Service was top notch and food delish! We had Vegetable Dumplings and Pork Soup Dumplings for our appetizer.. Then Shrimp Pad Thai, General Tso's w Tofu and the only thing we weren't a fan was the Dan Dan Noodles. Never had it before and picture looked good but it must that has an acquired taste. We are going back tomorrow because it was just THAT GOOD!
google avatar

Ron S.

Yelp
Such a great selection including many vegan and vegetarian options. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was seasoned perfectly and was huge portion sized. Japanese and Chinese and Pad Thai options on the menu. Just a 10 min walk from Times Square and Broadway shows. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and cocktails before going to see Hamilton. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I ordered take out from Ollie's. I used to live in Hell's Kitchen and was a regular at this place. The food taste has definitely gone down. I had the red chili oil dumpling (I deliberately avoided the peanut one since I don't like the sauce with peanut). The sauce tastes like peanut. They might as well named this dough with chili sauce as the amount of meat there is so minimal...

Adrian G.

Yelp
This place has good food, nice portion sizes, and a great lunch special. Service was good and it's nice inside. I've been several times and it's consistently good.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and my parents. I remember going to the original location when I was a kid. It was just as good as I remember today. My boyfriend and I shared roast pork wonton soup. The soup is big enough for two. IT WAS DELICIOUS. The broth had so much flavor. The roast pork had great flavor. There was also 6 wontons and bean sprouts. I want more right now as I right this review at 1230 am...it's that good! For my meal, I got the shrimp in any sauce lunch special. I chose garlic sauce. It was very good! My boyfriend ordered Double Cooked Bacon Lunch Special. It was delicious and unique. We've never seen that on a menu before. He was very happy with his choice for lunch. My parents ordered a roast pork wonton soup each and they shared chicken and string beans. I had some and the sauce was a little too sweet for me as I prefer spicy, but it was still good. Service was great. Water was constantly refilled and our waitress checked on us often. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I ordered delivery on a weeknight when I wanted to switch it up from my usual go-to Chinese spot. My order was delivered in about 30-40minutes and I live within a few blocks of the restaurant. When the food was delivered it was still hot, so no need to reheat anything. The portions given were similar to what I'm used to, but I noticed there was a bit more sauce than what I receive elsewhere. I ordered the fried veg spring rolls and the general tso's chicken with brown rice. The spring rolls were great on their own, super crispy on the outside and not too greasy, and even better paired with extra sauce from the chicken dish. The chicken was unfortunately a bit dry and some pieces were tougher to chew. Overall this place isn't going to replace my go-to, but I may give it a go again and try ordering some different dishes just to give it a more fair chance.

Yelp
Have friends who lived in the area so have probably gone here at least 10 times by now. Food (4/5) - Fine Sichuan place, and we always get the staples - mapo tofu, whole baked / steamed fish, sauteed string beans / pea shoots, twice cooked pork sometimes, some fried noodle / rice. The most worthwhile deal though is the lunch sets - 10+ for an entree, rice, soup and full bag of crackers. Can substitute for soda also. Comes piping hot. Price (4/5) - A little more pricey, ~20 for entrees but portions are large. Ambiance (4/5) - Typical slightly upscale Chinese place - decently clean, largely red / traditional decor and interior, mostly round tables but some booths on the sides. Never too loud, high ceilings. Service (4/5) - Always fairly prompt, but speak limited English and are not super welcoming. Never really a problem for us since we always know what we want.
google avatar

Min Z.

Yelp
Attentive and efficient services, Chinese traditional decor. The prices were normal. We needed to see a Broadway show in 1/2 hour so we ordered small and less. The food was brought out fast. We ordered 2*红油抄手: meat filling was dry and hard. It seems premade in a factory. 3*扬州云吞: soup was better with chicken, veggies and shrimps, warm and tasty. The wonton was so-so. It seemed like they were looking for one time visit with tourists, not aiming for loyal and returned customers.

Yelp
Omg this was amazing!!! Made so fresh and cooked with perfection!!! I love how quick the service is and how clean it is. If you love spicy food..this is the one!! You won't regret!! I loved every moment of it.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
I have been going to Ollie's on 42nd Street for years. I always receive great service. It is also a great place for authentic Cantonese dishes. Be sure to order your items authentic or Americanized. I prefer authentic Chinese. The chefs are wonderful and modest, so talk with your waitress. Be nice to them and they'll be nice to you!
google avatar

May L.

Yelp
I've been here DOZENS of times, I love it so much--the traditional Sichuan dishes are the way to go. I always start off with the pork soup dumplings, they're obviously a must and then for the main course--SPICY CUMIN LAMB! It's so smokey and spicy, definitely addicting and I clear the plate every time. That with pineapple fried rice, something sweet to offset the spiciness of the lamb--a perfect combo. The service is always fast and they're ready to give you clean plates after your appetizer. The water service is great too, your glass never empties and they even have a little bar (not sit down) if you want a cocktail

Jacinda M.

Yelp
Overpriced and don't give lunch specials with fried rice and most of all the jumbo eggrolls they charge $4.50 each for aren't jumbo anymore they are so small. Outrageous!
google avatar

Rick F.

Yelp
Ollies Sichuan Chinese restaurant is a gem in New York City that never disappoints. Whenever. It's my go-to spot for a delicious meal. The food is consistent , and often times it's so good that I want to eat there every day! During my last visit, I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup, Dan Dan noodles, and spicy wonton appetizer. The flavors were out of this world! The soup was rich, flavorful, with tender chunks of chicken and perfectly cooked dumplings. The Dan Dan noodles had just the right amount of heat, and the spicy wontons were a real standout - I couldn't get enough of them! Ollies Sichuan is a solid choice for anyone looking for delicious Chinese food. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and the food is consistent.
google avatar

Dani M.

Yelp
It was just okay. The menu was a little confusing to read. The servers were strange and rushed us a little after insisting we change our table when they told us to choose when we arrived there. I got the curry noodles with the skinny noodles and they were great. My partner got a great version of Dan Dan noodles, and I also got an order of pickled vegetables that were not great. Don't think I'll return.
google avatar

Tracy G.

Yelp
We stopped to get carry out after seeing a show across the street. We ordered and the wait was not long at all. The food made it back to our room and was still too hot to eat. We asked when we got the bag if they included utensils and they said yes. They did not. The food was just okay. Definitely not a place we would choose to order from again.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
My sister-in-law go to Chinese restaurant as she work few blocks away. Did not disappoint. Food was good and service friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I hesitate to write a review based on one unrepresentative visit, so call this a provisional four stars, because I think you could put a good meal together here if you know what to order. Note: I found Ollie's out of desperation, needing Since quick food for sensitive folks who don't like spicy things, so we didn't get any of their Sichuan specialties. That's a big caveat of course. But Ollie's also advertises itself as a purveyor of house-made Cantonese meats and noodles, so I CAN speak to that a little: EXCEPTIONAL: Dry Sautéed String Beans. Could not have been more perfectly cooked or flavorful. Intense but not spicy. As good as I've had anywhere. GOOD: A simple Cantonese-style shrimp with broccoli. Not an exciting dish, but the shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked and everything was nicely balanced. TERRIBLE: Wonton soup. I haven't had wontons this bad since the 1960s. Gummy. Bland. Salty broth. Mostly overcooked noodles and very little filling. Shockingly bad. Avoid.

Yelp
One of my favorite long-standing Chinese restaurants in NYC. It draws me back when I visit and I have memories of going here when I lived here. A classic!

Yelp
Authentic. Great ambience. Clean. Friendly services. Wonderful handmade dumplings! All in middle of the great city of New York
google avatar

Yelp
So here's the thing ... for the area, Ollie's is actually pretty good Chinese food. It's dependably consistent. You know what you're going to get when you order. It's simple. It's easy. It's even somewhat reasonably priced. Here's the other thing ... Service can be annoying, inconsistent and less than stellar. Takeout orders really need to be kept to simple items ... i.e., don't order soup dumplings; they won't travel well. And don't try to mix things up with items like dry pot. Just don't. Oh ... and if you are going to order take out, be it by a service (Uber, Grub Hub) or pick up, plan on delays. Our Uber orders are never on time, always run 30 minutes late and have gone as long as an hour and twenty minutes. When we've gone over and picked it up ourselves, we are often left waiting 15 extra minutes.
google avatar

C. E.

Yelp
Good service and food. Food came out fast. We ordered steamed pawns, egg soup, veggie rolls, wonton soup and chicken fried rice. Everything was good. Also pineapple fried rice

Darrylin M.

Yelp
I was so excited to find Ollies online, haven't had their food in years. I ordered sweet and sour pork. The was outside crust was dark and looked over fried. The meat inside of the crust was shoe leather. What a waste of time and money. So disappointing, Ollies used to serve the best fresh and tasty food.
google avatar

Yelp
My go to Chinese restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. Go to order - pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, chicken with broccoli or string beans. 10/10
google avatar

Gene K.

Yelp
Came back for dinner. Fried dumplings were small with very little meat filling, not worth the price. Low mein was okay, though they need to cut the pork into smaller pieces. Mongolian beef was tender, but wayyyy too many onions, not enough meat, again, not worth the price. These people have got to be the most unfriendly people I've ever encountered at any restaurant...zero personality, however they take care of business.
google avatar

Lance L.

Yelp
We were looking for a good spot for Chinese in NY. Food was good however I haven't had my water refreshed once. I usually leave pretty good tips, but I won't. Well okay I left a tip. They finally started filling my water.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
Before the incident, I was a HUGE fan of Ollie's. Reliable, spicy Sichuan and open late--what more can you ask for in Midtown?! Unfortunately, in a fairly recent delivery order of my once-beloved Shrimp Shumai, I found the LARGEST industrial staple I have ever seen in my life after taking a bite into the usually scrumptious dumpling. The taste of metal in the back of my mouth took me days to forget and it was months before I would dare sample another dumpling from ANYWHERE. I don't want to be too negative about something that could have been an honest mistake, but my advice when getting delivery from Ollie's is to check your items with, perhaps, a metal detector. A late night you were planning to end with delicious Sichuan Cuisine shouldn't end up as a trip to the Emergency Room.

Jackie L.

Yelp
Love their food and value. I stayed at the POD across from this restaurant. I ordered chicken with black bean sauce. It was fast and so delicious.
