Google
One of Louisville's best kept secrets. I've been introducing people to this place for over 40 years. The hands down absolute best french fries ever. The Ollie burger with extra sauce completes the best burger and fries in Louisville. OH and don't forget to order your fries with extra seasoning.

Nate

Google
Amazing. Absolutely amazing their Ollie burger is hot, juicy, and thick! The bacon is just crispy enough to crunch but just chewy enough to enjoy. Their fries have the BEST seasoning and crisp. And their Barq's root beer is amazing as well. Perfect syrup to water ratio. Would highly recommend. Come here early to beat the lines. Pay in cash only as they do not accept card. Over all? Will return and enjoy again.

Google
Excellent burgers & seasoned fries that are one of a kind! I stop every chance I can, about once a week. At lunch time there usually is a long line but be patient it moves fast and it's diffently worth it. There is very limited parking and just a picnic table but I usually stop on street and eat in my car. When waiting in line I meet people from out of town who heard about and want to try it (location is just of I-65 interstate) remember, they only accept cash. Try it, you won't be disappointed

Jeremy

Google
Cash only. Small walk up trolley stand, like 2 outside tables, so you'll likely eat in the car. Get the Ollie Burger dressed with cheese and add bacon. It's like a good enough burger. The fries are well seasoned and crispy. The sausage was fine. The condiments and tartar sauce are just packaged kind. If you order your food as sets then everyone gets their own bag with their order wrote on the side, so that's convenient. Quite reasonably priced so easily beats out the fancier places!

Greg Eakins

Google
The real reason to come here is the cute traincar - you won't get that anywhere else. The burgers here are fine. I certainly wouldn't rave about them. We had the regular Ollie Burger and were somewhat shocked at the price. It was right around $8 for one.

teresa martin

Google
They have been around for years and I know that is attributed to the amazing food they maintain and great service. I love their special seasoned fries and loaded Ollie burger. The price is reasonable.

Google
I see people lined up around the little trolley-shaped building all the time. Today was the first time I stopped and it was top notch. Ollie burger was excellent, the seasoned fries were unlike any I've ever had. And the sauce was delicious. 10/10 would recommend.

Google
Wanna talk about a special burger and fries! WOW! This place is fairly cheap and has really good food. Their prices are a little higher than what you can find advertised but the food makes up for it. The inside where you order, is very small. So plan to wait outside to order. But you do get your food quickly. A couple tables outside to eat at if you would like.

Yelp
Back 4 Da Best!! Old school.... simple and savory.... a REAL Burger... and some delicious seasoned fries.... dipped in some Ollie sauce... It's been that way since I was a child... and proof that if it's not broke... don't try to fix it!!! I think they have other things on the menu... But I'm more than satisfied with their simple Ollie Burger and fries with a cup of sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped in here and had an Ollie trolley burger for the first time in many years of when the experiences place. I had the burger, which is very thick burger, which I didn't enjoy and I had fries to go with it over priced to me. it was pretty good. Can't remember right now exactly what it was, but I remember not being upset or disappointed about it. The food quality was good and I would eat here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely what is known as a greasy spoon but it sure is delicious. Line moves quickly.

Yelp
Ollie's never misses! This isn't the place you come for stellar customer service or room to sit down. It is strictly a cash only takeout spot, (no dining room), and the food is delicious. Not a huge area to stand and wait so you really need look at the menu quickly and order. Menu isn't huge either so that does make it easier. Burgers are always great and the fries are seasoned perfectly! As always I'll continue to visit Ollie's when I'm in the area.

Yelp
First off, eating here is a part of Louisville history. There is only one left. So history almost begs you to at least try an Ollie Burger. That being said, your taste buds will beg you to return. It is a stand alone shop in a parking lot corner. No dining room, and little in the way of a waiting area. Expect a line. Expect to deal with the elements. Expect someone to perhaps ask for spare change. But expect a delight for your mouth that will make all that other stuff seem trivial! It's an experience indeed. Be advised, they close fairly early in the afternoon. Makes a great lunch stop, or for on the way home. Enjoy!
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
First time here, had many friends rave about this place. I got the Ollie Burger fulled dressed with cheese. Good old fashioned burger with great taste. Nothing fancy here, just good folks making great food. The seasoning on the fries is awesome. It brings back wonderful memories of the past and also the burgers and fries are the best! This place is the best known for their special sauce and seasoning on fries! So, get extra! The people were friendly and fast. A great experience from a unexpected place, the downside is this place is not open on the weekends and cash only

Yelp
I absolutely love checking out places that are different and specifically restaurants that may serve the simple things, such as a burger and fries and Ollie's Trolley does exactly that but with some very impactful flavor. When coming to Ollie's Trolley you'll immediately notice that yes, this restaurant does in fact have the shape of it's namesake but is also rather small on the inside as one would come to expect. While Ollie's Trolley does offer hot dogs and other burgers, the real star of the menu is the Ollieburger a specially seasoned burger topped with their special Trolley Sauce. With this being my first trip, I decided to try the burger they are known for best, an Ollieburger with cheese and Trolley Sauce with pickles and their Trolley Fries which are also specially seasoned just like their burger. The wait time wasn't too terribly long and in fact was much quicker compared to similar places such as Rally's and Checkers. There isn't much space inside so you may have to wait outside before being able to enter. As of the time of this review, they were only accepting cash as a form of payment. Their menu is very easy to read and is simply American food as anticipated. Once you receive your order you have to eat outside as there are no places to sit on the inside however there are a few tables right across from the entrance that you can sit and eat at, weather pending. Since this was a particular rainy day I decided to eat in my car which was nice considering Ollie's Trolley does have quite a few parking spots available. The Ollieburger war absolutely delicious and while it may not be anything spectacular to look at, looks are not everything here as it tasted very delicious with a great assortment of flavor and specifically from the Trolley Sauce as well as the seasoning the burger is cooked in. Same goes with the fries which are also seasoned and pair quite nicely with the burger. If you're looking for a unique experience and a place that the locals consider a staple, you've got to check out Ollie's Trolleys. The pricing for two can be around $20 but it's still worth trying at least once especially if you're not from Louisville.

Crashing W.

Yelp
Ask for extra Ollie's sauce, it's that good. It would be criminal to dip those spicy fries into ketchup and hide those flavors.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Fish sandwich inedible. Burger 2 stars nothing special Ollie sauce is either thousand island dressing or Russian dressing. Fries are McDonalds fries with old bay. Wouldn't come back.

Yelp
We were out for the day with our granddaughters. I had never tried an Ollie's burger! Oh my where have they been all my life. The burgers were large, juicy and full of flavor. The fries are fantastic! Crisp and flavorful. My granddaughter laughed when she pulled out the huge stack of napkins and said she had all the napkins but each bag had a large stack of napkins. The girls laughed and said we will never use all these. But with these juicy delicious burgers, we used ever napkin! If you get a chance make sure you stop by! It's the cute little trolley car on the corner of Third and Kentucky. I am sure there will be a line out front, but it moves fast and it is worth the short wait!

Dilip P.

Yelp
It's worth going, too. Was in Louisville for business and asked about an old hamburger place? That's local. They recommended Ollie's Trolley has been a staple in Louisville for a long time. You walk in one door order, walk out the other. No sitting area, all food is to go. The food was a great, a good seasoned burger and fries. The burger was big and good. All menu items are under $10.00.
google avatar

Yelp
Me and my dads of favorites long lines during lunch rush. If your every close by try them out.
google avatar

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Best burger and fries in town! Hands down. My sisters flew in from California and absolutely loved the food. Dont forget to order extra Ollie's sauce for dipping!!! The women working there are sweet and they make great food. CASH only helps keeps the prices down. Ollies is definitely an experience.

Mark S.

Yelp
Ollies' Trolley and Bambi Bar are a tie for the best burger in Louisville Kentucky. Ollies' has not only one of the best burgers but the fries can't be beat or duplicated. The fries are covered in delicious spices. I ask for extra spices. Umm. Bambie Burger is another super burger. Both my burger joints cook to order. Ollie burgers are served with mozzarella and their special sauce. Be prepared for a line around the small trolley kitchen in any weather but it is well worth the wait. Bambi Bar has limited seating so pull up a stool and have a beer while you wait. Or perhaps shoot a friendly game of pool. You might even run into someone you know, or would like to get to know?
google avatar

Debi R.

Yelp
Retro vibe taking me back to burgers in the 70's. Had to try it since my Grandsons name is Ollie. Fries and burger not your run of the mill. Seasoned very well. Prices are very good. Maybe a line but it's quick and worth the wait
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
The best burger and fries cash can buy. Don't be a jackass and try to use a card. They will look at you odd.

Ronald K.

Yelp
CASH ONLY! I love this place, but it's nothing fancy. It is a solid greasy spoon burger with tons of flavor in the burger seasoning, great seasoning on the fresh crispy fries, and Ollie's Sauce to dip your fries in (also on the burger). Get there before noon if you don't want to stand in line. There's only a few spots to park in, but there's a street parking on Kentucky and 3rd Street if you park before you get to the end of the block. Top tip: go on days it's raining - smaller line. The Ollie burger is fantastic and I recommend getting a chicken sandwich with Ollie's sauce and cheese. The fries are a must and will leave you guessing as to what is in that fry seasoning. Hot dogs and Polish sausage are deep-fried and super crispy. Current Prices are Ollie Dressed w/ Cheese:$7.75. Ollie w/ Cheese: $6.75 Regular Ollie: $5.75. Fry: $2.85. Cup of Ollie's Sauce $0.95
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. The burgers are always great, the seasoning/sauce is unmatched, and the service is friendly and quick. I've waited in a line of 25+ people and never waited more than 30 minutes, and that's pretty great considering the size of some of these orders! Love the staff, the women are sweet and quick, don't forget it's cash only and bring enough to tip the hard working ladies!
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
Don't forget to bring cash and if you have to search the crevice of every seat cushion of your car to have enough money to get fries don't stop even if you see the line growing outside the trolley and it's 95 degrees in the shade because the fries are worth every dirty penny you find under the floor mat. No one is seasoning their fries like Ollie's, I'd put them up against any burger joint I've ever visited. And the Ollie Burger, it's top notch too. It's exactly what a cheeseburger with a secret sauce should look like, taste like, and fill you up like - quality ingredients without frills.
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it and loved how unique it is. The fry's are even better than advertised. Truly in my opinion, it was the best burger I've eaten in a long time. A one of a kind place, with one of a kind food, and a great atmosphere that brings in people from all walks of life together in the name of good food.
google avatar

Yelp
Well, ollies Trolley is simply delicious. They had about 10 or 12 of them throughout the city back in the 70s now there's only one at third and Kentucky cash only Monday through Friday 1030 to 430 or something. I always get the Ollie burger with mozzarella and sauce any burger there other than that is not an Ollie burgerand I have to get a fry with extra seasoning. Fries are unmatched.

Ronald K.

Yelp
This is a different kind of burger and fries with a flavorful taste that sets them apart from Al others. Sometimes, when I have a yearning for an Ollyburger and Spicefries, and I have the opportunity, I make a special point of stopping by the caboose style restaurant to get me some.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Love this place if you want a classic burger in fries in a greasy bag. Definitely gives you an old time burger spot experience. The fries are super seasoned and yummy as well.
google avatar

Anastasia A.

Yelp
A damn good burger!! Thick, juicy with mozzarella cheese and a special sauce is the way I like it - just as it comes! The spices in the meat are so delicious! The burger is hefty and definitely satisfies. The location is in an old trolley car, so you stand in line outside. There's typically a pretty long line but it moves fast. That being said, have your cash (only) ready and know your order when your get to the window-- kinda like the horse races! Also worth mention are the seasoned fries. These are thin fries like McDonald's but generously sprinkled with a seasoned salt, yum! These are some of the best fries in the city. Beware- once you try Ollie's you can count on getting cravings on occasion. There's nothing like an Ollie burger!
google avatar

Jackie L.

Yelp
There are not many Ollie Trolley around. I remember stoping at little place to purchase their French fried when I was teenager.I think it can be a great Experience when you can travel back in time and remember the good all days. The items on menu are reasonable price. The customer service is always wonderful. Ollie's trolley thanks for server me for so many years. Your burgers are always outstanding and your french fries always season to perfection. Ollie Trolley will always be number one in my heart when it comes to having unique Hamburger and delicious season fries. I Promise to be faithful and see you once a week until the day I die. I am giving you five stars for always serving the best burger and fries in Louisville Kentucky!

Yelp
Can't lie. Pretty fire little spot. Food was great, service was great . I would recommend

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place for a while but it's out of the way and it's open at weird times that haven't typically aligned with my schedule in the past. I came with a few friends for a late lunch sometime past 2pm on a Monday. There was a line but only 3 people were ahead of us. More people got behind us as we waited. We maybe waited maybe 5-10 minutes until we got to the ordering counter. It's a small little space. The menu isn't huge. They serve burgers and fries. Not much to it. I got a regular burger dressed with no cheese. I also added a sweet tea. The price wasn't bad! It was a little over $5 total, but the burger is a thick patty and the sauce on it was fantastic! My friend got the bacon burger, which she enjoyed with some fries and sweet tea. She said she saw them pour Arizona tea in there and got a little disappointed that they don't make it fresh. But their space is so small that I can't be too mad. My sister got the same burger I got as well as some fries. Delicious! The fries have some interesting spices that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I did see sesame seeds on them though. Food comes out hot and fresh! I was impressed, although I've had better burgers. It's a solid 4.5/5 stars. I think the fries are definitely a selling point. The staff was really nice as well! They work quickly and seem to enjoy working there. It's easy to find parallel parking at meters or for free. There's also a parking lot next to it that seemed to be utilized. I mostly saw workers who probably work nearby as well as people from the neighborhood. It's definitely a Louisville staple to check out!
google avatar

Nathan T.

Yelp
Gave it a try after my wife raved about it as a staple of her time during college. The pros...great service, fast prep, simple menu and the Ollie sauce was pretty good. The food was hot and fresh..they get 3 stars because I just couldn't handle the texture and flavor of the burger. It was wasn't like beef typically tastes or chews to me. Pricing was more than fair. I'll give it another shot at my wife's next craving.

Joe T.

Yelp
The food is great and reminds me of yesterday, really good hamburger and the fries are especially good with that special seasoning they put on them. If there were places to sit down you wouldn't be able to get in there because of the crowds!
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in 10 years and remembered the secret sauce and seasoned fries as rememberable. Upon visiting the area I returned and it was just as good as my memory recalled. This is one of those places you hope never changes. Your options when ordering here is burger or fries or burger and fries. It's perfect. They are doing what they do best.

Michael O.

Yelp
This place is well worth the trip. The Ollie Burger is addicting. It must be the spice blend. The service is top notch. Remember, bring cash and tip generously.
google avatar

Deidra B.

Yelp
Very good classic burger with fries that had a good seasoning to them. My meal was great and so was the service considering the line was long. Come here prepared to wait (and maybe bring an umbrella if it's sunny). There's only room inside for a couple of people and they're a cash only business. If you're looking for a classic homemade burger and fries for lunch, this is a great place to go. I only wish I had gotten extra Ollie's sauce on the side for my burger.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
This might not be the *BEST* burger in town...but is certainly the great for it's price point! I have driven past the Trolley probably thousands of times. I knew I would have to get around to trying it sometime! And people generally really like it. So why on Earth did it take me 10 years to finally try Ollie's?! Well...because I tend to bring my lunch to work rather than going out and spending money....and Ollie's Trolley is only open between 10am-4pm. So no dinner :-P It is literally a tiny lil' trolley car that houses a grill/kitchen, and about enough room inside for three people to be ordering or waiting for their food at any given time. It is obviously a to-go place. When the weather is decent, there are a couple small tables at the edge of the parking lot if you want to eat there. Service moves pretty fast. Especially if you know what you want. The menu isn't extensive. The prices are extremely reasonable. Everything is a la carte, so if you just want a burger you can get out for under $4, but if you want a whole meal with fries and a drink it's probably be close to $8ish. Which, again, is still incredibly reasonable. And the simpler your tastes, the more affordable your food. An Ollie burger, plain, is $2.70. An Ollie burger with cheese, dressed and with bacon brings it to about $4. But basically, you can get your burger with the toppings you want, easy! The real highlight for me though are the fries! They come in an ample serving size. AND THAT SEASONING! All I want are bags and bags and bags of those fries. Now that I know how tasty and affordable the food is, I might have to make it a regular thing to visit every once in a while to get at least my fry fix! BE AWARE: Cash only!

Jeff M.

Yelp
The BEST spicy french fries!!! Delicious Ollie Burger!!!! Gotta go if you are in downtown Louisville. This was my Dad's favorite for lunches when he worked downtown...yummy!

Lyn E.

Yelp
the worst I have ever had cheap burger would not feed to my dog. fries over seasoned with some kind of Italian garlic and way too much salt would never recommend this to anyone. plus the people working in there were extremely rude. Save your money
google avatar

Sierra J.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite burger place! I've been coming here since age 6. My dad would use it as a bargaining tool to get me to run errands with him. First, know they're only open M-F until 4:30 and they only take cash. If you come around lunchtime, expect to wait in a long line. Just know it is well worth the wait. You'll probably have to take your food to-go because the limited seating is usually taken. Most people opt to eat in their car. The burgers are thick and hand patted. I recommend ordering yours with cheese (provolone). Each burger comes with Ollie's sauce, which is similar to Big Mac sauce, but waaaay better. It's honestly a crime to even compare it to the Big Mac sauce. I recommend getting 2 orders of fries with your burger and a Coca-Cola. The fries are seasoned with 26 herbs and spices including coriander, celery seed, cumin, and garlic. They actually use this seasoning mix in their Ollie's sauce. Little known secret - you can get their recipe online directly from the company ;) To my knowledge, there are only 2 other locations in the US - Cincinnati and D.C. - and after trying them I think ours is the best!
google avatar

Lisa J.

Yelp
Who doesn't love an Ollie Burger dressed with Cheese? The sauce is fantastic, and the fries or the best in the city. I love the seasoning. This block on 3rd has two old-time places to eat, and their both my fav.
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
Always worth stopping by while in LVL. Remember: CASH ONLY. Fair prices, fast service and great burgers with fries that put other "seasoned fries" to shame. Unless it is a great day, be prepared to eat in your vehicle or once you get to your home or hotel. Also, at least when we were there, know they are not open for supper unless you like to eat super early.
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
First time at the Trolley. I was lucky to get parking right next to the trolley. There was already a line when I got there. I wanted about 15 minutes to get inside to place my order and waited less 5 minutes for my order. I got the OG Ollie burger plain with Ollie sauce and fries. CASH ONLY!!! And their prices went up, the menu on Yelp didn't have the updated prices. Was the Ollie burger worth the wait??? Burger was good.. very seasoned patty... I can see the seasoning and has a bite. The burger was thick but not too thick to eat. They didn't spread the Ollie sauce all over so it did take until the middle to get some. Understandable since I got there during the lunch rush. Overall it was a good burger if your in the area. The fries were decent too, seasoned but probably could use more or I should have gotten Ollie sauce in the side for dipping. The best part was the staff, they are on their A game with friendly and speedy service. Can't beat that.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Just like I remembered. Wish there was a trolley in the east end. There was a long line. Lots of waiting. Hamburger was better than the fries.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
I stopped by here last week since I was nearby and hadn't had it in a while. I got the Ollie burger dressed with cheese, fries (ask for them well done!), and a side of Ollie sauce. The Ollie sauce is pretty good and I would definitely pay extra for more sauce. The fries are seasoned pretty well however the burger was a little on the dry side. Their hours are kind of inconvenient since they're only open on weekdays and during the work day and they only take cash so be prepared if you're planning on going here! Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant! :D

Eric G.

Yelp
How could anyone not give this burger five stars? Ask the people who wait in line for up to 30 minutes to get an Ollie Burger. Ambience? If you enjoy being around people and chatting with strangers, perhaps the best restaurant in Louisville to do that. Franchisers should take notice!! HELLO?

Arthur M.

Yelp
Got here at 10:10, Yelp said it was open at 10. Worker said they open at 10:30. Waste of a trip and walk in this humid heat. We just left.
google avatar

Rc K.

Yelp
This is a different kind of burger and fries with a flavorful taste that sets them apart from Al others. Sometimes, when I have a yearning for an Ollyburger and Spicy fries, and I have the opportunity, I make a special point of stopping by the caboose style restaurant to get me some.

Asia M.

Yelp
One of the worst restaurants I ever went to in my life I guess it's an old-time classic for Louisville Kentucky but I did not enjoy it at all burgers were really greasy fries weren't that great the picture looks better than what the food actually is
google avatar

Emil D.

Yelp
There is literally nothing that can beat an Ollie Burger with cheese, extra spices and sauce, with a heavy dose of spices on two servings of fries. The tragedy is that the little trolley on the corner is a remnant of a bygone era. As I stated in my review of the Washington DC location, I've been an Ollie's Trolley patron for more than 4 decades, when there were little red and yellow trolleys all over the place. And now... so few, the last. Louisville Kentucky is way out of the way for me, but I still manage a visit every so often. Please, help keep this icon alive and visit when you can. We worry about the damn darter snail and two-humped sand flea. Let's save an American institution!
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Ollie's yet, do yourself a favor and go now! They are open from 1030 AM to 425 PM Monday through Friday only. The seasoning on the ollie burger and ollie fries is to die for. This may be one of the best burgers ever made. In addition, their traditional cheese is actually mozzarella, but if you want it changed I believe you can get American, but why mess with the classic that is perfection?
google avatar

Urban B.

Yelp
I remember this restaurant from my youth, a lot of people like the spices on the burger and fries, but it was a little to much for me, tried the fish too, it was plan Jane, nothing to write home about, this was not my jam LOL
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
This odd little outpost has plenty of character and several decades of history. The food is cheap and certainly a notch above most fast food, and it's clearly popular with a lot of locals. Come here on any given weekday and there's a line out the door. Cash only. No indoor seating. But the burgers, while a little too salty and a bit dry, have girth and spice. I recently learned that the trolley is one of the few remaining of what was once a chain of 50-plus Ollie trolleys named for a Miami cook named Ollie Gleichenhaus who wasn't much of a fan of ketchup. There's apparently an Ollie's in Cincinnati, and another in D.C., but there might not be much more than that. I couldn't say if Ollie was an egomaniac, but he liked his herbs and he presumably liked them named after himself. An "Ollieburger" comes with Ollie sauce, which looks a lot like Thousand Island but has a little kick, and the Ollie fries have no shortage of seasoning either. After eating a few fries, your hand will be dotted with little green flecks. And plenty greasy. The trolley building is super cool, as are the ladies who cook it up all day in their little box. Service is very fast.
