"Along with a robust sherry collection, Townsend Wentz’s Oloroso offers a list of all Spanish glass pours, broken into four categories: sparkling, white, rosé, and red. And the Center City tapas bar pulls from all over the country, including emerging regions, so the list is much deeper than the standard Riojas and cavas. In South Philly, Wentz’s eponymous French restaurant, Townsend, also features a robust wine list that grounds itself in the classics while dipping into more unusual selections." - Ernest Owens
"Head to sophisticated Oloroso in Center City to snack on classic Spanish tapas like boquerones and patatas bravas and sip on a lemony cocktail. There are tables in the brick-lined front room and farther back by the open kitchen, but for the best happy hour vibes go for the corner seats at the bar, if you can snag them." - Rachel Vigoda
"Unlike the boy band surge of the 2000s where every song sounded the same, the tapas scene in Philadelphia is not created equal. And while Barcelona Wine Bar and Amada are the BTS and NSYNC of the city’s Spanish restaurants, Oloroso in Midtown Village is more like the BBMak: totally forgettable, and very likely to disappoint even when you’ve got a great seat to the show. There are some positive aspects to this spot—a great wine list, an extensive charcuterie menu, an upscale candlelit dining space, and a large outdoor setup. But that’s where the good times end. Few of the dishes pack a punch when it comes to flavor or execution, despite an extensive tapas menu and shareable small plates. If you happen to be in the area, stick to what they’re good at—some good cheese boards and an excellent New York Strip. If they made more dishes like it, they’d have a few hits on their hands." - Candis R. McLean
"Cured meat lovers will rejoice at Oloroso’s expansive selection of chorizos (with options like the chorizo pamplona made with pimento or the chorizo picante made with smoked paprika), jamón, sheep milk cheese (such as manchego), and more." - George Banks-Weston
"Considered one of Philly’s most underrated restaurants, Oloroso specializes in tantalizing tapas and sherry wine. Have fun mixing and matching a variety of dishes with options like charred octopus, roasted beets, paella, and patatas bravas or if you’re in the mood for something more substantial it also offers a roasted half pig’s head or 32-ounce filet mignon for two." - George Banks-Weston
