"Olsons Scandinavian Deli is hoping to raise some much-needed money to stay open along Pico Boulevard. The restaurant has been a staple for Mid-City for more than 70 years, but with flagging business and rising costs, the owners are seeking $50,000 to make some changes, including adding beer, wine, and brunch." - Farley Elliott

"LA has several very famous delis - Olsons is not one of them. Located on Pico in Mid-City, this Scandinavian deli/market has been around since the 1940s, and yet, somehow still feels like a complete secret. The menu has everything from pickled herring to meatballs and shrimp skagen (basically a Scandinavian shrimp roll), and it’s all fantastic. Couple that with a bright space that never gets too crowded, and over 70 different kinds of imported Swedish candies, and you’ll struggle to find a reason to ever leave." - Brant Cox, Brett Keating

Sweden vs Switzerland game viewing was great. The Coffee and Cinnamon Buns Rocked. My wife and I discovered this place about a year ago. We come here for the Coffee and Atmosphere. They Have Swedish Products Ranging from Books to Swedish Fish Gummies. We Love it!

Excellent deli. Sandwich was really simple but well done - the addition of Swedish mustard and mayo really helped it stand out. Very relaxed atmosphere and diverse range of ages in the patrons. It’s fun to come here and hear some of the locals speaking Nordic languages.

Bright little piece of Scandinavia in LA, limited menu but the essence of simple quick food, grab lakes tasty and the unpretentious honest little cafe a refuge from the club over hyped.

I recommend the gravlax and the Havarti with sausage. Good unpresuming food at a reasonable price ($12.50 for the gravlax served in a brioche bun and about $10 for the cheese and sausage sandwich).

I love this place so much. Every time we're in Los Angeles we stop here. It's easy to get to and there is usually parking right out front. You can order counter service and sit and eat in the restaurant or get food to go. We love the herring, beet salad, skanska toast - basically everything. They also have a candy section where you can pick out what you like from bins. The gift shop is darling too - we always buy a Swedish book. It's a truly wonderful place.

I have no idea why this place only has 2 reviews at 3 star and 1 star. Olson's makes some dank sandwiches. First of all the have delicious pate, which I can almost never find on a sandwich. Beets and pickles are amazing, and I don't even like pickles. Also the staff was really friendly when I went, so I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about.

This place is wonderful and friendly. They have a good selection of imported Swedish Staples, I only wish there were more. The food from the deli is delicious and it's lovely to have a little piece of Scandinavian fare stuck in the middle of Los Angeles.

Been there since 1948! Best place in town for authentic hand-made swedish fare! Around 11 for sandwiches. The pastries made daily. Swedish candy on the wall! Try the Grav Lox. The fish isn't smoked, it's cured and the salmon will melt in your mouth. The swedish meatballs are a must! I'm working my way through the menu, but I've really enjoyed this treat.
