"One of the most unsung heroes in the Korean culinary canon, kong guksu, includes a refreshingly chilly and substantial broth made from ground soybeans. At Olympic Noodle, a long-running noodle shop in Koreatown, the creamy broth is paired with hearty buckwheat noodles. The soup might taste bland at first but season it with a little salt and some kimchi to boost its flavor." - Cathy Chaplin, Matthew Kang

My bf got the hand-torn dough noodle soup, and I tried the mudfish soup. The portions were huge! The hand-torn dough was great with a light, tasty broth, fresh kimchi, garlic, and scallions. The mudfish soup was healthy but too earthy for me. E's friend later told us we should've ordered the dumplings. We'll definitely be back for those!

You know this is a good spot since the korean ahjummas and ahjussis flock to it. It was truly an experience eating here. The mandoo is perfect. I have no complaints. It was garlicky, gingery, incredibly flavorful, with a thin but chewy skin. The kimchi is the kind of bright red that you know just by looking at it, it will def not disappoint. And this is not even the best part. The best dish of all was the chicken kalguksoo. It’s the chicken noodle soup of your dreams, with an incredibly flavorful broth that feels healing as you sip it, and noodles perfected from a master. Will def come back again!

Amazing food and friendly service! Free Parking available. Entrance on Norton Ave. Kimchi stew is my all time favorite! Kalgooksu(noodes) was also good. Their Kimchi is super fresh! The portion is super generous! Highly recommended!

Google
My new favorite Korean food restaurant!!! Sooo delicious and everything tastes home-made (even the kimchi)! My husband found this place and it proved to be SO delicious!! We ordered the buckwheat spicy cold noodle and pork&leek mandu (dumplings) and both were SO GOOD!!!!! Service was good because we beat the lunch rush! Pricing is average. Parking available in the back so no need to scramble to find parking here!

I have been many times to enjoy the Korean noodles here at Olympic Noodle. However, today, I had an unpleasant experience by finding an insect on my chicken kimchi soup. I reported it to the server but she took the dish to the kitchen and came back to say it was not a bug. I was somehow disappointed by the dishonesty. It could be better if they frankly admitted it since it can happen. I also have difficult time with a flyer around my table.

Went for Korean rice cakes and dumpling soup - a traditional Korean New Year's soup (Theotguk). The place is well known for its noodles so come early - it gets crowded:^)

Google
Usually this place puts out decent food, but I did a to-go order for seafood noodle….very disappointing! One lousy shrimp! And one shell-less mussels and few (once again, shell-less) clams that had freeze burn! And what is up with random pieces of gigantic tough cabbage 🤷‍♀️. For $20 for a bowl of noodles, you guys can do better than that! I wonder if I should have stuck with their chicken noodles (that they do well😋).

Annie Kim

Google
This is my go to place for kalguksu! Do you want I know a to-go secret? If you like to take you’re food to-go but don’t like how the noodles get mushy by the time you get home, then this is for you. I live about 30 minutes away from ktown so I’m so glad they do this. You can order the knife cut noodle soup with uncooked noodles!!! When it order the kalguksu you ask for “sseng” chicken kalguksu. They give you two big containers of soup, uncooked noodles, veggies and chicken in separate containers or bags. Once you get home, boil the soup, then put in the other ingredients. It’s freaking delicious and easy. The food is enough for two adults so if you’re eating alone, just use half.

Yelp
We went here with some friends on a Friday evening for dinner around 7pm. No reservations and it was not crowded at all, just a few families. We ordered the seafood pancake and the steamed dumplings for the table and my partner and I shared the beef noodle soup. All the portions are huge and shareable. I was a big fan of both the steamed dumplings and the pancake, though I think the pancake was my favorite dish. One of the servers (maybe owner? Think Korean auntie) showed us how to make the dipping sauce for the dumplings which was so tasty! They also had a generous portion of barchan (kimchi and turnip) and gave additional when we finished them. The beef noodle soup was also a large shareable portion for 2 and came with both store bought and handmade noodles. I'm not a huge noodle fan but it was nice on a cold day. Would definitely recommend this place for a homestyle meal! Our total was ~$50 per couple after tax and tip. There is a parking lot in the back with limited spots and also has the spots available to double park. We parked behind our friends car since we were dining together.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Olympic Noodle has great chicken kalguksu, the broth is very flavorful and rich. Hearty and warm for a cold winter day. Noodles are handmade and chewy with just the right amount of bite. The kimchi is great too. The steamed dumplings had a lot of chives and were super juicy. They were presented in a steamer on top of some cabbage. We visited during peak hours and there was barely any wait since there were so many tables. There is a free parking lot in the back. Prices were great for portion size. You should definitely come here if you want some great noodles and vibes :) You will for sure leave Olympic Noodle with a food coma.

Ryoung K.

Yelp
The food is amazing. One of the best kalgooksu places in LA. It feels like you're tasting mom's cooking and the portion is Korean mom portion. Huge. service is like any Asian restaurant. Ambiance is like when you go back to grandma's place. Very homey. I'd suggest get 1 kalgooksu, share, get dumplings and maybe jjolmyeon to share so you can taste both hot and cold noodles. There's a small parking lot, but you have to double park so you might have to move your car and stuff. A bit busy during lunch time on a weekday.

Melinda C.

Yelp
An authentic, light and hearty meal just west of koreatown. The chicken kalguksu and steamed mandu were a great combo together. Do not underestimate the kalguksu portion size as there are actually a lottt of noodles. We still finished everything! There's no music in the background so it feels like you're eating at grandma's home. Only downside is the limited banchan. Small parking lot in the back and there was no valet person when we went.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
This place is so legit, everything I've had is really authentic and homey. You only get two banchan, a fresh kimchi and pickled radish, but it's really all you need because they work really well with all their dishes. The kimchi is really punchy! I've gotten the mandu, chicken kalguksu, and beef rib cabbage soup. Their mandu is the some of best I've ever had, the skin is super thin, with lots of filling. The kalguksu noodles are homemade and super chewy. Also, the portion sizes here are very big, so we usually go home with leftovers. I always struggle deciding on what to get here because everything looks so good. They have an attached lot with valet for $3 (cash), so it's easy to park as well. I love this place and would highly recommend it!

Amy W.

Yelp
I selfishly wanted to keep this spot to myself but decided that the world deserved to experience this gem. Olympic Noodle is THE spot for the best healing chicken noodle soup in ktown. And you know it's good-good when the primary customer base is cute ol' grandmas and grandpas. My go-to order is the chicken noodle soup and steamed dumplings. Whenever I'm feeling a bit under the weather (or suffering from an unbearable hangover oops), I always immediately place an order here. The steamed dumplings also feel so warm and cozy, like the feeling of eating at home with family. Parking seems like it can be a bit tough as there are minimal parking spots in the lot and the streets always look crowded (as anywhere in ktown). I usually go right as they open and always manage to get a spot so I'm uncertain what it's like during peak hours.

Ashley S.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try kalguksu in LA for the longest time and I was so happy with my experience at Olympic Noodle. We went around 3 pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty and quiet but the Korean ummas were attentive and friendly. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup and oh my goodness the portions are HUGE. A bowl is about $20, and I feel like the price is fair considering it could feed 2 people easily. We ended up having to take my bowl to go and just be aware they do charge about 50 cents for togo containers. Overall, I would definitely come back if I was craving a comforting noodle soup because it really felt like a home cooked meal. The beef was a little bit chewy but still had good flavor. The chicken soup felt light and the meat was more tender, but I still preferred the richness of the beef noodle.

Enenmarumaru C.

Yelp
Food was great. It tasted like the grandma made with her own hands. The seafood pancake was very fluffy.

Yelp
There are several good Korean noodle places in Koreatown, so it's hard to tell this the best. Pro- Huge portion, hand made and cut noodle, lots of seafood, chicken, whatever you order. Clean broth, friendly service, and honestly, all menus are good here. Con- they often double park, so there is a chance you might need to move your car while eating

Cindy S.

Yelp
Olympic Noodle is cozy a mom n pop Korean noodle house. Since I love all kinds of noodles, so I decided to travel here and try one of their specialty noodles: Knife-cut Noodles Soup (Kalguksu); along with some dumplings. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Kalguksu and it was unbelievably delicious! Very rich in a healthy way (not fatty or oily) and so flavorful! It has a kick of heat, but not too spicy. Safe for non-spicy palates. The house made wheat noodles were also fantastic! Smooth and chewy. The bowl of noodles portion is huge! I also got some steamed dumplings which had pork and chives filling. Not salty and juicy. Very good! The dipping sauce for the dumplings are a "do-it-yourself" condiments placed at each table. Just ask your server if your not sure which sauces/condiments to use and mix. If you love kimchi, their house made kimchi is GREAT! Service was very friendly and helpful. She was very motherly, so nice. Am coming back and trying their cold noodles soon! Parking can be found behind the restaurant also where one would enters the restaurant; the front entrance facing the street (Olympic Blvd) looks closed-up. Payment: I did cash, but I think they take credit cards as well.

Yelp
This Korean establishment has been around for a considerable amount of time, representing the neighborhood as a Koreatown before the establishment of Koreatown itself. The majority of the clientele are older individuals, as it is favored by the older generation. I learned about this restaurant from my dad, who prefers it over MDK. While the restaurant is popular for its CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP, I was in the mood for something different. The decor exudes an old-school essence, with a handwritten menu created using calligraphy paint and various Korean landscape artworks adorning the walls. Here's what I ordered: COLD BEAN NOODLE - This dish is served chilled in a bean broth with flour noodles, sliced tomato, and cucumber. The broth has a delightful SWEETNESS of soybean milk, and the noodles absorb this flavorful broth, transforming their initially plain taste into something RICH and CREAMY. With this dish, it's a must to eat it alongside their pungent GARLIC KIMCHI. The combination of these two flavors brings complete satisfaction to my Korean soul. Thanks to my dad's connection with the owner, she graciously offered us a complimentary bean porridge as a dessert.

Beth W.

Yelp
Excellent kimchi. We come here for the staples: red bean porridge, anchovy noodle soup, and the rice cake/dumpling beef broth soup.

Piyathida R.

Yelp
I had a really bad experience here Will not go back and not recommend anyone. They make me feel like I begged them for food not to pay for it. Felt so bad all day

Maggie M.

Yelp
Love their streamed dumplings and chicken noodles.. the portions are large so i share it with my husband .... When we started to go, the waitresses were weary and didn't seem friendly but they really are the sweetest people.. The place isn't decorated nicely as such but clean and you can't beat the the taste!

Richard A.

Yelp
I didn't have any food but their hospitality is amazing. I really had to use the restroom and I went in ready to offer them $5 and they wouldn't take it. I bought a soda just to be able to leave them a tip.

Yelp
Love the noodle soups and the freshly made steamed dumplings. Kimchi and radish sides are also soooooo delicious. Have been eating here for over 20 years.

Susan S.

Yelp
Came back after many years, and although still pretty legit and authentic, the service was so bad that even I couldn't give it a pass. First of all, there is some kind of fly problem. I know it is summer and there are flies everywhere, but even inside the restaurant, near tables, there were so many that we were constantly swatting flies away. That really takes away from the experience, I gotta say. Then the service was so rushed that I barely sat down before the waitress was asking me what we wanted. I asked her for the menu and literally as she was giving me the menu, she asked me again what we would like to order. I know Korean restaurants are known for speedy service, but it was kinda over the top. Food came out super fast but given the fly situation, I was hesitant to use any of the condiments that were on the table. My Mom's kongooksu was not to her liking either. Overall, just ok. The kimchi is pretty tasty here, and I prefer it over the MDK noodles kimchi. I still like the mom and pop store feel, and I'm glad it has survived among all the new, trendy establishments in Ktown. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to come back here. It has plenty of regulars though, so they're doing something right. Small parking lot in the back of the restaurant.

Vee K.

Yelp
It's a little HOLE in the wall type of Korean style noodle house! The amount of food you get is SO worth your money! The broths for their noodles realllllly are triggering your senses - umami! I hope you give it a chance!

Kristy P.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my meal here! They have a small, free parking lot in the back. The spots are tandem. The dishes we got: 1. Pan fried dumplings: These were crispy and juicy with a thin skin. Pretty perfect! Excellent with the vinegar and their green onion/soy sauce condiment. 2. Kimchi chicken noodle soup (#4): Very good and hearty! The soup had a nice mouthfeel - not super thin. It was just a bit spicy. I thought the noodles got too soft for my taste but they were by no means overcooked. As mentioned in other reviews, the bowl is HUGE and could be two meals. The chicken just kinda tasted like a rotiserrie chicken. 3. Kimchi noodle soup (#5): You might think this is the same soup as above, just without chicken, but the broth is different. We thought it was made with a seafood/anchovy base. Also really good. 4. Jjolmyeon - Loved it. The noodles were chewy and refreshing. The sauce is a little bit on the sweet side compared to other restaurants I've been at, but it was not overpowering at all. Would get this again. Their kimchi was also delicious! I would go back here just for this and to try other dishes on the menu.

Maggie O.

Yelp
The food is amazingg and the service is great too! I got the 수제비 (knife cut noodles) and my boyfriend got the 냉면 (cold noodles). the broth was super yummy and we also got the mandu to share!! will definitely be back again

Bean S.

Yelp
I came here for kongguksu. It is summer, and thus the season for kongguksu or naengmyun. The broth was nutty, but clean and refreshing. I added salt to my liking. The kimchi adds spice. The noodles were nothing special, but they were cooked well and had great texture (super important for this dish). What I really liked was the atmosphere. It reminded me of eating at a family members house, from the decor, to the smell, to the people. Homey is the word. We also got the yukaejang which tasted like a home made version- not very salty, lots of veggies, not much meat, but comforting. 5/5 stars for flavors and nostalgia

Jimmy K.

Yelp
This is Korean kalguksu done proper. We come here every time we visit LA. Always a hangout for locals, and the red bean noodles are the best I've eaten stateside. 끝내주게 맛 있어요!

Yelp
This restaurant is a wonderful family operated restaurant that provides authentic Korean noodles, home made style with a clean good flavor that cannot be beat! The food is what I imagine I would get at my aunt home, if she was Korean! From Olympic blvd, the restaurant does not look like much, and the interior is just functional,.But the excellent experience begins when the serving ladies bring you their kimchi and pickled radish. Both may be the best I have found any where in Korean restaurants. The kimchi is low salt and low sugar, yet tastes well fermented and always fresh and good quality. The pickled radish is more on the cooling sweet side, and it does cools you down nicely if you go overboard in eating spicy stuff. From the menu, I have tried a number of items, all well worth the trip to this edge of Koreatown. Off the chart, is their steamed dumplings. They are meaty, very clean tasting and, with the sauces provided on the table, you can customize them as you want. The dumplings come on a bed of steamed cabbage, which I imagine many people would leave alone, but I really like them as a cooler and as healthy greens. I also tried a few suggestions by the manager, Candy, an enthusiastic and very competent manager who made the meals a lot of pleasure for me and my friends who ate with me there. Based on Candy's recommendation, I tried the Kimchi Chicken Noodles with a combination of noodles, and cut dumplings, both home made and taste fresh and nicely chewey. I also tried the cold bean noodle soup. Healthy and tasty and good as a summer dish. Finally I really loved the ground fish soup for its taste and filling amount served. Accorsing to Candy, it is an item recommended for men health ! :)) Going to Olympic Noodle for good home made high quality Korean food is an easy choice for me. It does not get any better!!

Kelly K.

Yelp
Such good comfort korean food. I love the kimchi here and will come back for it! All this food shared amongst 3 girls was enough for us. V

Kulpreeya T.

Yelp
The best noodles chicken soup in LA. Also homemade dumplings are amazing. Staff is so nice.

Rat P.

Yelp
If you want to take your special rat love to a lowkey dinner on Valentine's Day because you know it's going to be crowded and crazy everywhere, this is the place. What can I say - chicken kalguksu and trash scraps are the way to my heart. This place is very authentic from the service to the food. There's no bullshit here - you come here for the kalguksu and the homely atmosphere. I always get the chicken kalguksu here as it hits every time with the chewiness of the thicc knife-cut noodles and the comforting, deep, refreshing broth. Plus, the portions are huge. Even after 15 minutes of eating, it feels like you haven't left a dent. This time, I got the kimchi kalguksu which cleared my sinuses left and right. Stubborn mucus can't win here. The dumplings are so good and pair well with the soup. You can tell that shit was handmade. And the kimchi here is tasty. You will be burping second dinners for hours after which is legit. You know it's good kimchi if it still stinks up your ride to the next day. Even if it's not Valentine's Day, come for some comforting Korean soup that will soothe your esophagus (or burn it, if you're not careful like me) and bring you back to being fed and nourished at halmuni's house. Then, go back to your rat den with a full belly and in your deep sleep, dream about the future comforting meal to come that will hug you next. I can't wait.

David M.

Yelp
Home made noodles and dumplings from scratch!!!! It's a fantastic family business ... few simple quaint... interior... good service ... I recommend the Beef Noodle Soup my favorite and the dumplings Rock... clean healthy and delicious!

Lynn D.

Yelp
If you like home cooked meal taste this is the place to try their chicken soup with hand made noodles. The serving is $17 and for me it's good for 2 people. Comes with kimchi and radish which also tastes home made.

Daniel K.

Yelp
Olympic Noodle is in my top 3 kalgooksoo places in LA. It's a very simple, no nonsense place run by older aunties and uncles. As a Korean, the vibes of the restaurant definitely feels like you're at your grandparents house. You can't go wrong with any of the kalgooksoo's but my go to is the chicken kalgooksoo. The portion is so big I always split one bowl and one serving of steamed dumplings with my girlfriend. Speaking of steamed dumplings... they are so hot and delicious and pairs perfectly with any kalgooksoo. If you're into the taste of fresh kimchi like me, you're really going to like their kimchi. Olympic Noodle's kimchi is definitely in my top 2 list of restaurants in LA.

A L.

Yelp
This is my childhood favorite place my family is a regular at. Their chicken knife cut noodle (the irregular sized noodles are everything and the broth is so rich) is my favorite along with the sweet pumpkin porridge (love the large rice cake balls and red beans!). My mom loves their red bean noodle with salt and I love to put sugar when I share it with her. I personally ask for any brothy soups to be less seasoned (with salt) and they happily oblige. And their portions are huge! We also always get the steamed dumplings. They're so kind and they still remember me from when I was a little girl and I'm so happy to give them as much business as possible. The taste and quality hasn't changed at all. The unfermented kimchi and pickled radish are so so good as usual. They added some new items to their menu so I'm so excited to try them next time since I'll be back for sure. It's nice to see they're doing well. The place interior is updated with new light fixtures and traditional handwritten menu signs. But the wood paneling is the same and so comforting. They have their own parking lot too and you can easily find anyone who is double parked so it's very convenient.

Sangstaa L.

Yelp
Bruh that was amazing . Got the chicken kimchi one, the flavor was next level. Amazing sides. This place is better and more authentic than most of the hyped up kalguksu spots here in Ktown. The three ladies working are the sweetest people I've ever met. I almost cried cuz I miss my mom fr but yeah 10/10 for me brothers and sisters

Gab C.

Yelp
Lovely, lovely, lovely! I've driven by this spot several, countless times without ever noticing it and today was the day. I was already looking to get noodles and heading closer to wilshire center but i am SO glad i didn't. Forget the fuss and parking problem of going to the busier parts of ktown. This place even has it's own free parking lot. You can literally smell the delicious food from the parking lot. I had the steamed dumplings and the beef noodle soup. Mind you, I'm not a soup person but i decided i was going to try one here. Oh. Em. Gee. Noodles are nice and thick, the broth has so much depth to it and it's honestly insanely big. Bring a huge appetite or share it! Dumplings were served on a steamer with cabbage at the bottom. So full of flavor! This place is unbelievable. 100000/10!

Esther C.

Yelp
Olympic Noodle is a classic and a favorite of mine. The restaurant is almost always filled with elderly people-which proves it's authenticity. For me the atmosphere and the food is very nostalgic so I tend to find myself here quite often. I think I enjoyed every single item I have tried here, especially the Chicken Knife-Cut Noodle Soup and the Sujebi. My boyfriend always gets the Pat Jook (Red Bean Porridge). We also always order the Steamed Dumplings. The noodles, sujebi, and dumplings are all handmade with HUGE portion sizes which gives me a warm feeling and reminds me of my grandma's food(iykyk). I never want this restaurant to close so I am writing this review. I know it won't close anytime soon, but if you ever want to feel what true Korean soul food is like, go visit Olympic Noodle!

Annie K.

Yelp
Ordered the steams mandoo, sujebi, galbi radish tip soup, and mixed chewy noodles. Everything including the simple side dishes of fresh kimchi and pickled radish had semblances of my grandmother's cooking - comforting, unrefined and filled with the kind of love that comes from a lifetime of care and sacrifice. Truly a wonderful find in the urban jungle of Koreatown LA. The sujebi and galbi stew is a must. The rest is recommended but if you are not a large party, you can pass on those. Don't let the rundown and worn exterior and decor deter you. This is down home authentic Korean food. Check it out!!!

Miri K.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 7 years now It's my favorite place to go Everything in The menu is absolutely delicious I love the two wonderful eemos who are always so attentive and sweet Thank you this place is my favorite noodle place

Peter Christian P.

Yelp
Their chicken noodle soup is excellent - so soothing, filling and savory. Absolutely loved the broth. Definitely coming back here!

In K.

Yelp
Everything in the menu are they made even noodles and mandoos which are Korean dumplings. Also they red bean porridges are my wife's favorite. Their service is not like formal dining western style but they are generous in quality and quantity. Unique experience in Korea town. I strongly recommend this place.

Kathy G.

Yelp
The portion sizes are crazy huge. One bowl is more than enough for 2 people to share. The noodles came out pretty quick, but they didn't bring out the dumplings until we were almost done eating. By then we were so full, could barely enjoy them.

Luke L.

Yelp
Specialty: Dak kal gook soo (sliced noodle soup with chicken) I first learned about Olympic Noodle from one of Jonathan Gold's articles (https://www.laweekly.com/jonathan-golds-60-korean-dishes-every-angeleno-should-know/) and I never had a chance to visit here because the restaurant always closes on Sunday. Few weeks ago I was about to drive back home from The Original Farmers Market and I stopped by Koreatown for a quick dinner. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant, but one of the cars blocked the parking entrance so I ultimately just parked on the street. Service was pretty average and each table was served with pickled daikon and a giant stone pot of kimchi. I am a big fan of their sweet and savory kimchi and their pickled daikon was pretty good too (not super vinegary). Menu: There are 12 different noodle options, but their signature item is #1 Korean chicken noodle soup. I also ordered steamed dumplings because it was one of the Yelp's highlights. *** #1 Korean Chicken Noodle Soup ($12.80): Noodle had somewhat of a firm texture and chicken pieces were not super tender, but broth was very savory and portion was generous! #27 Steamed Dumplings (12 pieces - $10.99): Dumplings were not super juicy, but each dumpling was jammed pack with pork and chives fillings and flavors were on the point. *** I still think chicken noodle soup from Hangari Bajirak Kalguksu is a bit better, but I would totally visit Olympic Noodle for the following reasons: (1) no waiting line, (2) easy parking, (3) yummy kimchi, and (3) solid noodle soup & dumplings with generous portion sizes.

Steve C.

Yelp
Historically good. This place has become a bit of a landmark in Koreatown. A place that an old resident can refer to, asking it "its still there" and yes, yes it is. They specialize in a specific kind of noodle soup - knife cut, or 'kalguksoo' It's one of the best in town, if not THE best. Their steamed dumplings are also on point. Service is warm and comfortable. The veteran staff know how to treat you like family. Maybe a little 'unprofessional' by fine dining standards, but perfect for the type of food, location, and vibe of the restaurant.

TaMiya D.

Yelp
The food is so fresh. The Kim chi tastes like it's made in house by someone's grandma. The price is good. Seriously healthy wholesome and spicy.

Agatha I.

Yelp
Olympic Noodle has been a favorite of my family for 10+ years! We've tried a number of Korean noodle places in Korea town (Los Angeles) and some in NYC, but nothing comes close to the rich, bold taste of the soup base and sauce made in Olympic Noodle. The noodles are never over cooked and the dumplings are made with thin wrapper of perfect consistency with delicious filling. Tge Kimchee is always just the right amount of spicy level and always with perfect napa cabbage quality. The ladies who work here are all very dedicated and friendly. A great place to have a great Korean meal!

Jeewon L.

Yelp
A piece from a metal scrub in my food and not a word of apology. I should have known entering the restaurant since it reeked of peroxide upon entering. I am sorry to leave a negative review but I was appalled at how they handled their mistake.

Lemme tell you. I've been coming here since the early 90s. The place has gone through one ownership change in early 2000s. Their chicken kalgooksu(handcut noodle soup) is one of those rare gems you find only find in a mom and pop type of shop. Their broth is very thick and flavorful. Not too garlicky and not too chickeny but just hearty soup topped with tons of chicken meat and zucchini. You have to add the special green onion soup sauce or red pepper soy sauce to your liking and it's just a the best chicken noodle soup. To those who say they changed...I can tell you the flavor is still pretty darn close to how it was back in the day. One thing that I noticed that was different was that noodles may be cut by a machine rather than by hand. I still believe the dough is hand kneaded. Portions are still huge. It is big enough for 2 servings so if you think it's little, you better check yourself and see if you're prone to overeating. Point of reference: compare to a size of a typical Japanese ramen, this chicken noodle soup is at least 2x the size. Price is now about $14 for a bowl which is lot more than before but considering how much wages have steeply gone up, it's understandable. And for the price, you still get a huge portion. Back when in dining was allowed, they would give you refill on the noodles if you asked. Their gutjuhri(freshly made kimchi, not yet fermented) is something special. It complements the soup so well. You won't be able to kiss anybody for days but damn it's so good! I made small talk with them when I went into pickup the food. Of course, they were struggling due to coronavirus effect but they were still very friendly and in good spirits. Wish them the best and hope they get out of this unscathed. I may be somewhat biased but this is a special place for me and my family. Pro tip: if ordering for 2 people, order one noodles and a mandoo(Korean dumplings) it's so friggin good and good portion to share with your s.o.

Yelp
Amazing Korean noodle soup with the best noodle texture Ii've ever had! they're bouncy and chewy with the perfect amount of give, and they soak up the chicken flavor so well. the kimchi is also sooo good here and is actually flavored and salted really well, not just spicy. the servers have to be flagged down if you want refills of tea/water once you get your food, but it's so busy during lunchtime i understand the wait!

Yelp
WOW, Olympic Noodle has amazing Kal Gook Su. I came here this past weekend on a Saturday night with a friend who really likes it and hasn't been in a while and we both had a great experience. Parking: There's typically valet parking behind the restaurant but the night we went there wasn't. Strange, but lucky for us. A lady came out and ushered us into this tiny spot surrounded by fences. Service: Quick and efficient. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Food: I ordered the #7 which is Sliced Noodle Soup with Su Jae Bi (aka hand-torn noodle chunks). The broth was very clean and refreshing, the knife-cut noodles were a great texture, and the hand-torn noodles were chunky and very large. I also really enjoyed the pickled daikon banchan. Very good palate cleanser. The kimchi here is very fresh - no spicy and not very pungent. I like that they give you a stone pot of kimchi and tongs and you just scoop out kimchi as you need it. ALSO, the portion size if HUGE. The bowl was as big as my head... I got 3 lighter meals out of it. My friend was able to finish his entire bowl. Price: Only $13 for a bowl that large. Worth it. I'd definitely come back to Olympic Noodle. I really want to try their dumplings next time! Check this restaurant out!
