Ate here on a Saturday for lunch.
Having secured a reservation nearly two months in advance, my anticipation for this popular restaurant was high. The decor truly is amazing, standing out as a highlight in the area. Unfortunately, that's where most of the praise ends, apart from the delightful juices accompanying the octopus.
The taramasalata was a letdown, overly whipped and bland, completely lacking depth despite its appealing presentation. The lamb brains were just "okay," but the accompanying sauce was a misplaced chili explosion, even for a spice enthusiast like myself. The saganaki looked good but offered nothing memorable.
The standout dish of the meal was the octopus. It was perfectly charred and moist, a testament to excellent timing by the kitchen, and its sauce was very enjoyable. The lamb, while having a decent texture, was disappointingly short on flavor. And the Greek salad was pedestrian; I've had better pre-made versions from woolies.
Overall, the meal felt incredibly disjointed. The limited non-alcoholic cocktail options also added to the less-than-stellar experience.
