Olympus is known in Greek mythology as being the home of twelve Olympian Gods, supposedly the place where these twelve meddled in human lives.
I had an Olympus in my sights today, only the mountain was a mountain of food at Olympus Dining, Surrey Hills! I have eyed off this restaurant two or three times when visiting Sydney, and today was the day 🏛
Olives, white cod roe dip, oysters in a tomato vinegar, and octopus with capers and lemon was first up for the entrée. Standout? The octopus.. Superb 😋
Fried zucchini with mizithra then a Kefalotyri cheese with honey and lemon filled the gap between entrée and mains. The cheese - wow! 😯
Mains was a charcoal grilled fish, some roasted lamb and tzatziki, with a salad and chips. The fish was light, flavoursome, and easy to eat. The lamb was phenomenal with a crusty, herbed finish. A Martini then a Domaine Sigalas Assyrtiko from Santoroni were good accompanying drinks 🍸
Dessert was in two parts with a hazelnut Brulée rice pudding and candied fig in olive oil with frozen yoghurt. An unusual combination; I wasn't sure about the mix, but the brulée was excellent.
The wait staff were excellent; attentive and prompt without being intrusive 🔟/🔟 and the dining area had a very Greek feel to it, with feature statues and a central tree overhanging the marble and table settings 🇬🇷 Would definitely eat here again ✅️
