Omakase Osukāā Midtown East - Review - Midtown East - New York - The Infatuation

"Osukāā, an LIC omakase spot that’s located in a coworking space, has a second location in Midtown East. The menu at this location is limited to just sushi. Lunch omakase options start at $49, and dinner ranges from 13 courses for $69 to 17 courses for $109. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

It is a very nice experience to try the Omakase sushi menu. It was the first time for my son and he loved it. The flavours with each piece ... the place was very nice. The attendant with a big smile and very helpful. They have a set of 13 courses or 17 courses and sure you can add on.

Google
Awesome omakase experience. We did the 17 course option with no regrets. Every dish was fresh and flavorful. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was intimate but lively. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

This was a fantastic first introduction to Omakase. Our chef was Oscar and he took great care to present every part of the meal with thoughtfulness and style. We were so impressed with the flavor combinations and the suggested sake pairing. The service was very attentive and made us feel welcome and at ease. The host answered our questions and explained this is a more casual omakase experience with novel flavor profiles. It’s a wonderful transition from traditional sushi to some more experimental variations. This was a great way to end our stay in New York and highlight experience during our stay. Thank you to the team for such a great evening! Highly recommend for a thoughtfully curated date night sushi.

This is my second time here and it’s become my new favorite omakase spot in Midtown. I really love the flavor combinations here and the value is insane. We got the 17 course omakase which included Hokkaido uni in 3 separate courses. Chef Vincent was fantastic and very friendly. Will definitely be back again!

Every bite was a masterclass—super fresh, expertly prepared, and beautifully plated. The chef’s precision and pacing made the whole experience feel special. Service was warm, attentive, and never intrusive. Atmosphere was calm and elevated without feeling stuffy. Easily one of the best omakase spots in Midtown.

Google
New omakase spot with an incredible value lunch deal. $48 for 10 pieces in under 30 minutes. These days, it’s hard to get excited about a new omakase opening in NYC. Still, when I see a deal this affordable, I get curious. Most omakase I’ve had under $60 have been underwhelming, so I had some doubts coming in. Despite the price, it didn’t feel like an omakase stripped down to the basics. Rather, it was just a concise version of a mid-premium omakase. All the pieces I tried were either 3 or 4s (out of 5), though there were mostly 3s. Still, it really exceeded my expectations, and was surprised to see that they kept all the premium pieces like chutoro, wagyu, foie gras, and king salmon with uni and caviar. The only real miss was the shari (rice). The chefs behind the counter seemed relatively inexperienced. Perhaps 2 to 3 years of experience at a neighborhood sushi spot. In several pieces, the rice was either off in proportion or slightly inconsistent in density. Traditional omakase is built on a chef’s ability to craft a course around quality and availability, but that kind of curation comes at a cost. In the U.S., where experience and expertise are expensive, this kind of accessible omakase can’t be about artistry. Instead, it’s about value, and this place gets it right. As long as the fish quality is solid and clearly better than a standard neighborhood sushi combo, that’s more than enough at this price point.

If you're on the hunt for an exceptional omakase experience in NYC without the months-long reservation scramble, Omakase Osukaa in Midtown East is the place to be! A friend and I dined in for their 17-course omakase, and from start to finish, it was an absolute treat. The Ambiance: Tucked away in Midtown, Osukaa has that perfect blend of intimate and welcoming. The counter seating gives you a front-row view of the chef’s meticulous craftsmanship, and the cozy setting makes it feel like a hidden treasure. Whether you’re an omakase veteran or new to the experience, the chefs and staff make you feel right at home. The Experience & Service: The service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. The chef took time to explain each piece, its origin, and the inspiration behind the flavors. The balance of precision and hospitality here is top-notch, making the experience feel both luxurious and personal. The Sushi – 17 Courses of Pure Bliss: Some standout bites: Madai (Sea Bream) with lime zest, salt and lemon juice - This was the first nigiri we had, it was so vibrant and refreshing, the lime zest really brings out the flavor of the sea bream, it was so bright and light, an excellent first nigiri! Hokkaido Sea Scallop with Yuzu Jelly - Oh my goodness, the yuzu jelly paired with the scallops was so light and citrusy, it was so good! The jelly made the scallop flavor pop in your mouth! I need to know how to make that yuzu jelly, it was very delicious!! King Salmon with chopped onion and foie gras - Just melt in your mouth deliciousness; the premium cut of salmon paired with the seared foie gras with some chopped onion the cut down the richness of the overall bite, what an amazing combo! Toro Tartare with foie gras toast - Whoa, just whoa, what a bite, this toast was so delicious! I wish I ordered more of this! A5 Wagyu seared with scallop, uni, and caviar - I love that they have A5 wagyu, this was essentially the last bite before dessert, it was so decadent and rich, I absolutely loved that this was the end before our dessert! Homemade Black Sesame Pudding - Wow, this dessert was a great end to our course. It was light, not overly sweet, just sweet enough! Extras & Drinks: Before our dessert, we had the option to purchase additional add-ons, this includes everything we just had along with many more handroll options which we just had to get. We got an additional king salmon with foie gras handroll, hokkaido scallop with yuzu jelly handroll, and eel and foie gras handroll. And these handrolls were pretty huge, definitely worth it if you can eat a lot like my friend and I did. Add-ons range from roughly $10-20 per piece depending what you want, they are worth getting if you're still hungry for more! For drinks, for now it's BYOB, until they get their license to sell sake which should be very soon. My friend brought a bottle of Dassai Blue 35, which paired really well with some of our courses! I was told that they will be getting an amazing selection of sake soon, so be on the lookout for those! Final Thoughts: At $109 per person, the 17-course omakase at Osukaa is a steal compared to some of NYC’s more hyped-up spots. The quality, presentation, and overall experience are absolutely worth it. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself, this is a must-visit for any sushi lover. 💯 Would I return? Absolutely. Next time, I will try different add-ons and also try the sake there with my experience. 🔥 Pro Tips: If you have any allergies, they'll be sure to accommodate you! If you don't like a specific fish, the chef will listen to you and try to adapt your experience! Make sure to make a reservation and list your allergies so the people know advance of your allergies or aversions! They do offer a 13 course version for dinner but in my opinion, you will get better cuts and pieces for the price of the 17 course! Oh and if you work around the area, they do have a lunch 10 course for $48 from 12-2PM Monday-Saturday, but you have the option to upgrade to 13 or 17 course!

Google
Definitely a NEW hidden gem in Midtown! The omakase price is starting at $48 for 10 courses ,$79 for 13 courses and $109 for 17 courses but I recommend you to get the 17 courses so you can a variety of super fresh fish, Uni, Caviar, Wagyu and seasonal fish from Japan. The seasoning is just right and you taste the freshness of fish. Can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Amazing service! I very much recommend the 17 course meal. It is incredible and so much different tastes. The overall vibe of this place was amazing. 10/10, would definitely recommend for any occasion. The wagyu will definitely make me come back. Went with a friend for his birthday, an he got double the dessert, and the whole staff sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

Yelp
Chef Steven is an inspired culinary artist for an epic omakase sushi experience. We had a really lovely and personal experience tonight. The foie gras salmon sushi was so tasty and i loved the tuna with flower mushroom. What delighted us was the interesting flavor pairings. And i ve already been to Tokyo twice this year yet its in New York that i find this combination, warmth and hospitality and a touch of Fun. Tell me when you go and I will come over and gawk! What a treat for us

Yelp
Went here last night with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday a few months ago. We go to omakase a good few times a year and so we wanted to try this place as it was new! I have to say that it was absolutely superb. You get that energy of new restaurant jitters but extreme hospitality and quality of food was superb

Yelp
Initially, I popped in for their lunch omakase (10-course for 50) but ended up trying their 13-course omakase for 79, which came with more premium cuts. The omakase went pretty quickly -- I was in-and-out with 50 minutes. The sushi chef explained each course to me and answered any questions I had. I didn't feel like I had to wait too long in between each one. The 13-course was a perfect amount of food during lunch time. They use fresh and high-quality fish/seafood for each piece. My favorites were the following: * Wild Spotted Shrimp (Botan Ebi) - The shrimp was sweet and creamy, the texture easily melted in my mouth. * King Salmon with Foie Gras - Good cut of salmon and the foie gras made it extra creamy * Hokkaido Scallop (Hotate) - Fresh scallop with some yuzu topped on, which made a good combination * Seared otoro? with caviar, uni, and gold flakes - Expensive bite that was creamy, rich, earthy, and fatty. Lots of expensive flavors going around. * Hokkaido Sea Urchin (Uni) - Creamy and fresh, it melted in my mouth easily. I enjoyed the yellowtail, but didn't like the pickled? topping that had a weird flavor I didn't like. Everything else was good, but not the most memorable. Overall, this was a pretty average/good omakase experience. The dessert at the end was a nice touch. It's a pricy option for lunch, so I'd recommend the 10-course moving forward.

Yelp
$79 for 13 course, it was very empty on a work day dinner. Mediocre omakase I've had better ones, portion and quality wise. 3.5 stars

Yelp
I had a great experience here for their 10-course lunch omakase for $48. The service was great and the food was wonderful. I had told James that I had a short lunch that day and he made sure that my entire omakase would fit within my timeframe. All 10 pieces were fresh and delicious. Plus the location is great and all the staff were very accommodating and friendly - I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
We went for lunch coz it's close to my friend's workplace. There's a lunch set (I believe it's available at lunch only) that's below $50 for 10 pieces of nigiri, we opted for that coz we didn't have a lot of time and 10 pieces sound just right for lunch. This place is similar to many other omakase places in the city - Chinese-run and/or the chefs are Chinese, which is fine by me as long as the quality is good. The fish used was fresh, and our chef was very efficient. The set price is unbeatable considering its location, and when compared to similar places in the area, it offers an even more affordable option. The only thing is it'd be great if they also include a small dessert at the end of the meal. I understand they're trying to keep the set cost down, but even a small scoop of ice cream / a mochi would make the whole experience better. It's also because other omakase places offer that so it's kind of expected.

Yelp
Had the most amazing dinner here last night. The service was perfect and the sushi was so high quality and a taste experience. We had a party of 8, it was really fun to have our normal conversation and also get to comment on each dish! Highly recommend! We did the 17 course and I could have had more!

Yelp
Simply sublime. I come here once a week without fail--it's become a sacred ritual. I absolutely love the team, the chef, and everyone who makes this place so special. The quality of the sushi is consistently outstanding--fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Every piece is a work of art, both in taste and in presentation. If you haven't been yet, please do yourself a favor and go. It's an experience that stays with you.

Yelp
New Omakase spot! Located conveniently near Grand Central Station for commuters and locals alike. Large sushi counter in the center room, 3 sides of the bar with ample seating. Affordable prices, good quality fish packed with flavor and toppings that do not overpower the fish. The rice was seasoned well and temperature was perfect. Liquor license is pending. The service was friendly and the staff was attentive. Reservations can be made on RESY. Overall, another spot not to be missed! Lunch: $48 - 10 courses Dinner: $79 - 13pcs course $109 -17pcs course

Yelp
An authentic Omakase experience that begins right when you sit at the bar, which dominates the space -- very much a small bar feel right out of the backstreets of Shibuya. You find yourself talking with fellow patrons seated next to you. Probably a popular date night selection. Personal attention from the manager, the sushi chefs are probably the best I've run into. The 17-piece Omakase ensures artisanal and varied sushi treats just keep on coming. Oh, and they are very, very good. Excellent selection of cold sipping sake. I'd go back anytime! Loved it.

Yelp
With so many omakase spots in NYC, it's hard to choose--but I'm so glad I picked this one. I was only in the city for a short visit and decided to stop in for lunch, opting for the 17-course omakase at $109. Worth every penny. Everything was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and the whole experience felt special without breaking the bank. My favorite piece? The uni foie gras toro toast--like heaven in one bite. Easily one of the best omakase meals I've had, especially at this price point. Can't wait to dine here again next time I'm in town. A true hidden gem!

Yelp
Great quality for the price. We opted for the 17-course menu and were very satisfied. I was very impressed that even the condiments/supporting ingredients were the "real deal." The restaurant is super spacious (unlike most omakase places I've been to), and the service was very attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Fantastic omakase in a very convenient location! They even offer lunch sets! We opted for the 13 course $79 option, which is a great deal because you get uni and fois gras. The restaurant is one of the most spacious omakase counters I've tried. Service is awesome and there is plenty of room. The chef served at our speed for lunch, so it didn't feel rushed. Every single piece had a great garnish or flavoring on top. A few pieces like toro with fois gras was torched to include an extra smokey and melt-in your mouth texture and flavor.

Yelp
Recently visited NYC and my friend took us there for lunch... I would rate it in my top 3 favorite sushi experiences... only because I don't want to leave other out... not that another comes to mind.. highly recommend this place..

Yelp
Great all around! Fantastic quality of the fish for the price. Loved that we were able to add on more pieces. Everyone in there was so kind!

Yelp
Went here for a fantastic Valentine's Day dinner. All of the food was so fresh, service was amazing and a super beautiful atmosphere. Would recommend in a heartbeat (pun intended )

Yelp
What a fun and delicious dinner. We reserved early, 530 and had the place to ourselves for almost an hour before the entire resultant filled completely. Great sake, friendly staff, awesome food - the flavor combinations are surprising.

Yelp
The absolute best omakase in NYC is at this unassuming spot in Midtown! They just opened on 45th and Madison, steps away from Grand Central, and it is a perfect spot for a group dinner or a nice date night! They offer lunch omakase - 10 courses for $48, or dinner omakase - 13 courses for $79 or 17 courses for $109. We went for the 17 course option and were obsessed with every single piece. The fish is insanely fresh, unique and flavorful. Favorite bites include salmon with foie gras, toro toast, wagyu with uni and caviar, and the scallop! It was such an incredible experience, the staff is all lovely & you're going to want to add this to your list.

Yelp
What an incredible Omakase lunch experience. Everything is so fresh and delicious. They were very accommodating for my son who has a severe shellfish allergy. We loved every bite and will be back! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience - delicious and fresh options that have me still thinking about it. Top notch service and friendly people.

Yelp
WOW! My husband said it best when he described our dinner tonight as "transcendent." This location just opened one week ago and so doesn't yet have traction. We were one of only two couples there (though pending liquor license probably doesn't help.) Yet, run don't walk because this Osukaa will soon, deservedly, be challenging to get into. This is bespoke artisan sushi and I may have had equal (rarely) but no better. Nice ambience, attentive service, but oh, the cuisine! Sheer heaven and a ridiculously great value at $109 for seventeen creations. We'll be back again before our trip ends.

Eileen L.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Went for Valentine's Day and they gave everyone a rose :) food was delicious and staff was very kind, I highly recommend and I will happily go back!

Yelp
The food was outstanding! Fish was extremely fresh and delicious. Looking forward to going back soon!

Yelp
Great food and lovely staff. Calm ambiance. I came with a friend and service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed all our courses. Highly recommend!

Yelp
was there for the opening. the food was spectacular. The scallop and the seared toro with gold flake was beyond good. The vibe was cool and trendy. Can't wait to go back.
