Omakase Por Favor in Midtown absolutely delivered.
My wife and I went last night planning to do the full omakase, but since it runs about 90 minutes and we were short on time, we ordered à la carte instead. Zero regrets.
We got the classic tostada, atun tostada, unagi oysters, classic oysters on the half shell, and tuna tataki. Every dish was dialed in. The oysters were pristine and briny, presented beautifully on ice with bright accompaniments. The unagi oysters were next-level— smoky, rich, balanced with acidity and fresh greens.
Both tostadas were standouts: crisp tortillas loaded with impeccably fresh tuna and shrimp, vibrant cilantro, sliced peppers, and layered sauces that added creaminess and heat without overpowering the fish. The tuna tataki was seared perfectly, still cool and silky in the center.
My wife had champagne, I went with a Modelo, and we walked out full and happy at about $150 total including tip. For the quality and creativity here, that's exceptional value.
Service deserves mention too. From the maître d' to our server, everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. No pretension, just people who care about hospitality.
We'll be back to do the full omakase. But even à la carte, this place is a knockout. If you're in Midtown and love seafood done thoughtfully, you need to try it.
