"It’s easy to be skeptical of a place that has the audacity to attempt both pizza and bagels. But Omar’s pulls it off, and, somehow, they also serve the best Indian food in the area. Operating out of a generic, fluorescent-lit room, the restaurant is a true hat trick, perfect for any weeknight when you’re feeling indecisive. Your order should look something like: biryani, goat chettinad, and chicken tikka masala pizza." - bryan kim, hannah albertine, nikko duren, willa moore
"At Omar’s Fine Cuisine in Prospect Heights, a single string of Christmas lights invites you to enter a fluorescent-lit, tile-floored room that looks like it used to be your everyday pizza shop. It still is, technically. Inside, you can get Indian food, pizza, and bagels made fresh every day. We can feel your skepticism burning through the screen, so let’s get right to the verdict: The Indian food is incredible, the dense and chewy bagels are worth a morning pitstop, and they have great Indian fusion pizza—a rare find—on the menu." - molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, neha talreja, carina finn koeppicus, sonal shah
"Everything on the menu at Omar’s Fine Indian Cuisine is worth trying, but we’re here to talk about the Indian pizza. There are seven different Indian-inspired pizza options here, and chicken tikka pie, with its overwhelming amount of cream and cheese, is just as gratifying as it sounds. We also love the tawa vegetable version, which adds a much-needed masala kick to your usual vegetarian pizza." - willa moore, bryan kim, neha talreja, arden shore
"We know—you had your heart set on Indian food (specifically at Masalawala), but it looks like you won’t be able to score a table for another month. Omar’s is located a little over a mile from Masalawala in Prospect Heights, and their Indian food is also incredible. If you don’t know where to start, get the gobi paratha that's stuffed with shredded cauliflower or the smoky goat chettinad along with properly charred, chicken-stuffed Bombay tikka naan. As a bonus, this place also has Indian fusion pizzas that aren’t too shabby, such as one with chicken tikka and another with vegetables and masala." - team infatuation
"Tucked into a residential corner of Prospect Heights on Vanderbilt Avenue, Omar’s Fine Cuisine (also listed online as “Omar’s Indian Fine Cuisine” and “Omar’s Bagels & Restaurant”) is an unassuming storefront that immediately rewards those who venture inside: the smells of simmering lamb Chettinad and well-seasoned biryani hit you on entry, and you’ll spot baskets of bagels hanging from the wall, tubs of mango chutney and scallion cream cheese in a display, and a massive pizza oven turning out what may be Brooklyn’s only chicken tikka masala pizza. Most nights it’s nearly empty — many people seem to be hunting Patti Ann’s next door instead — but in person there’s a taped “secret” menu by the register with half a dozen Indian-fusion pizzas. We ordered three pies (butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and chicken vindaloo) for about $75 before tax and tip: the mirchi vindaloo was blisteringly spicy and messy on a thicker, Domino’s-like crust (better as leftovers after a night in the fridge), while the chicken tikka masala pie held up better with more chicken than sauce and a bright garnish of cilantro and chopped ginger. They’re not the slices of 2022, but paired with a tub of raita for dunking leftover crust, they’re fun, forward nudges to the city’s pizza game and easy contenders for the slices of the summer." - Luke Fortney
