My absolute favourite place to eat in France, but recently I've been to ONA to try their dinner menu and, although I was once again impressed with the quality and geniality of the dishes, I was disappointed and bothered by 2 things:
1. I spent over 2 hours in the restaurant, having to wait about 30 minutes to have each dish - it is a 5 courses menu. I am all for the idea of taking your time and living the experience, but there is a limit and ONA definitely crossed it. The wine was amazing, the food was out of this world and I would still recommend the place to anyone, BUT... I can't pretend I didn't get annoyed with all the waiting. Definitely something to work on.
2. For some reason the waitress wouldn't interact with me and would only explain/serve the dishes to my partner, ignoring me and making me feel invisible. At first I didn't give it much thought, but in the end when she served the final course and placed it in front of him, ignoring the fact that I was just there, it really bothered me. I am hoping that it wasn't purposeful and that I misunderstood the scenario.
That being said, I still have ONA as one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The food is like nothing else I've ever tried and the atmosphere is charming and cozy. I will be back but I'd love to see those issues solved.
Edit: after the owner replied, I'd like to highlight that despite those 2 issues I had, I was still delighted to eat at ONA. I understand the concept of slow food but I do think it was a bit too much. And I am sure that Cindy is lovely, she has been in other occasions, but in this particular night I felt truly ignored because the interactions were always with my partner and I felt like my presence was less important somehow. I believe that it wasn't on purpose or anything, but that's just how I felt and I thought it was important to say that.
In any case, my review is always go used on how incredible the restaurant is. Thank you for your reply and I hope you appreciate my honesty!
