Oncheon - Review - Koreatown - New York - The Infatuation

"Oncheon is a hot spring-themed Korean restaurant, which means it has large TV screens in each booth playing snowy spa scenes, and a water feature covered in fake snow in the front window. It doesn’t fully transport you out of Koreatown, but still—the room is certainly relaxing, and the beautifully presented Korean-style shabu-shabu is rich and seemingly never-ending. Broth options include signature doenjang and spicy, and they arrive alongside banchan, vegetables, thinly sliced meat, and freshly made kalguksu noodles, all arranged in stacked wooden boxes. Ask for a booth—they're high enough that they obscure the street and all your fellow diners, so that even just for a second, you'll feel like you’re at the snow-covered noodle spa. Food Rundown Bulgogi Gujeolpan If you get a starter, make it this one. This traditional Korean dish has jeon in the center surrounded by matchsticks of vegetables, egg, and bulgogi. Pile a chewy pancake with all the toppings and then dip it in the hot mustard provided. Spicy Curry Shabu-Shabu This thick, dark brown curry is laced with warming spices like cardamom and cinnamon, with just a hint of sweetness, and only a touch of spiciness. You’ll probably want to eat it plain, but don’t ignore your thinly sliced beef, and all of those dusted-in-flour kalguksu noodles. Beef Steak Chanhap Meal Box This steak over rice is arranged so beautifully it looks like a jewel box. Except instead of precious stones, there’s perfectly pink steak, a soft-boiled egg, raw onion, and more. Still, even though we like this dish, you should always prioritize the shabu-shabu." - Willa Moore

Oncheon is a Korean restaurant that truly impresses with both presentation and flavor. I tried the eel over rice and fish over rice, and both dishes were beautifully plated—almost too pretty to eat. The flavors matched the visuals: perfectly seasoned, fresh, and deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of place where every detail, from plating to taste, feels thoughtfully crafted. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates refined Korean cuisine.

I had such a wonderful time here—the sukiyaki was flavorful and perfectly balanced. The beef was tender and fresh, and the vegetables were crisp and soaked up the broth beautifully. The staff was very attentive and guided us on how to enjoy the hot pot in the traditional way, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for sharing a comforting meal with friends.

I recently had the pleasure of returning to Oncheon NYC after a few months with 3 others, and I have to say there were a lot of improvements from the last time I was here. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great dining experience. The menu had a few new exciting changes, and I couldn’t resist trying a few of them. We all got the Soy Sauce Sukiyaki and it was absolutely delicious, the staff had given us instructions on how it should be prepared since it was our first time getting this dish. It is clear that the they continue to deliver high-quality dishes with fresh ingredients and I must say their Yuja Makgeoli was great! What really stood out this time was the consistency in service and quality. It’s rare to find a place that delivers the same exceptional experience over time. Whether it’s the carefully crafted cocktails, the delightful ambiance, or the attentive service, everything was spot on. Thank you and we’ll be back again soon.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Food is so delicious and the amount that you get is worth the price and more. So filling and not as expensive as would seem for the quality that is plated. Our waitress was so sweet and helped us with everything. Highly recommend for people looking into Korean Hot Pot places!!

Very cute indoor decor when you walk in - comfy seats and booths. I got the eel box and my husband got the wagyu with cold soba on the side. The food comes out in cute boxes w all the side dishes in a separate box. The eel was REALLY yummy. The scrambled egg on the side was super good and I love the sauce they put on the rice. My husband got the wagyu box and the beef was a bit overcooked than medium rare but it was still delicious and tender. He liked the eel box more too. Cold soba was really refreshing and noodles were perfect chewiness (think i will get soba with tempura next time) Will definitely return!!

Oncheon NYC is a Shabu/Hotpot restaurant themed after a Hot Springs Shabu experience, with wonderful theming on the inside to immerse you in the experience. The waitstaff is amazing, and very friendly and attentive to the needs. We came here for our anniversary, and they provided us with exemplary service and also provided us with a free dessert on the house. The food was good, though not what we were expecting. The prices are reasonable for the portion, and for 2 people, we ordered actually too much. We were expecting to only get one vegetable platter, but each got one for ourselves which also gave us a ton of food we couldn't finish. The hotpot itself was good, as we got the Doenjang broth which went well with the dishes, but didn't have a strong flavor. The vegetables were all good, and the wagyu beef was thin and tasty and melted in our mouths. The Fish cake platter wasn't what we were expecting, as we were expecting Korean fishcakes and got them, but also got a range of other fishcakes we didn't really enjoy. We had a great time here, though maybe will consider doing one of the non hotpot options instead as we weren't entirely amazed by the hotpot.

Oncheon is absolutely delicious! The yakisuki soup is perfect for shabushabu, rich and flavorful. Hailey provided such friendly and attentive service, which made the whole dining experience even better.

This restaurant offers a Korean-style take on shabu shabu. While it’s not the traditional Japanese version, the flavors feel more approachable and enjoyable for everyone. The meat quality is fresh and satisfying, and the accompanying vegetables and sides are plentiful. Prices are very reasonable, making it a great spot for both family meals and gatherings with friends. Overall, it’s a restaurant worth recommending.

Yelp
Great place and very good food, and Hailey is sooo sweet! Highly recommend the shabu shabu here, one of the best I have had in nyc.

Yelp
My friend and I chose Oncheon for lunch because we saw great lunch deals on sets. To drink, I ordered the Korean pear cocktail which was delicious. A delicate and refreshing pear flavor, really really good. For my meal, I ordered the tteokgalbi which was a blend of pork and beef over rice. The set came with banchan that was really unique - like a lychee yuzu jelly and a perfectly wrapped spiral of kimchi. I would definitely recommend coming for their lunch specials, and I would love to try their shabu shabu on my next visit.

Yelp
Took a not-inexpensive cab ride to get to this place for a late dinner. Arrived at 10pm with plenty of time before they closed at 11pm. Door unlocked and restaurant still open (music on, etc) but they turned me away. Said they decided to close early. No apology. Just "we're closed" shouted from the back of the dining room. Will not be back.

Yelp
If you're into clean, nourishing flavors and subtle broth-based meals, Oncheon in Koreatown might be your spot. What sets this place apart is its miso-based broth--a rare twist for shabu shabu--which brings a soft umami depth without overpowering the natural taste of the ingredients. I went for the wagyu, and it didn't disappoint--melts-in-your-mouth tender, just as you'd hope. The vibe is calm, the interior is neat and cozy, and the service? Excellent. The staff took time to explain everything, and the drinks (non-alcoholic options included) were refreshing and matched the overall clean feel of the meal. Overall, everything leaned on the bland side, but I mean that in the best way possible. It's the kind of meal that feels healthy and well-balanced. If you're the type who needs more salt, spice, or punch, just let the waitress know ahead--they're happy to adjust. For me, the natural, almost meditative taste was exactly what I wanted.

Yelp
My friend and I randomly stopped by on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30 PM. The restaurant was empty and we were seated right away. The decorations in the restaurant was beautiful. We got to sit in one of the booth seats which were comfortable; however, the seats and table were pushed in really closely together so it was uncomfortable going in and out. Our server came by pretty quickly with menus and cold tea. Service throughout the meal was great. For the meal we split: a SIGNATURE DOENJANG SHABU SHABU and WAGYU STEAK CHANHAP MEAL BOX. The Shabu shabu was great. Broth was tasty and had a good amount of toppings. The Wagyu rice box was also very delicious, a great composition of everything. We added uni on top which was a great addition. Each meal comes with delicious Bonchon. All of them were beautifully made and tasty. I especially loved the tri-colored pickle, black sesame paste and yuzu lychee jelly. All in all, a great meal option in K-Town!

Yelp
Ordered a steak rice set from their brunch menu and it was very tasty! The steak was cooked amazingly and there were a lot of other flavors such as seaweed, kimchi, and onions to go along with it. Service staff was friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Monday, and it was such a serene escape near Koreantown. They aim to recreate an atmosphere where you are eating near a hot spring. The place is spacious and each booth gives you an intimate feel with your company. The waitress was super friendly, professional, and calming herself. We ordered the $30 weekday lunch special which offers very generous portions. I had the crispy fritter, my friend had the Basa fish, which I highly recommend as it was moist and tasty. My other friend had the pork/beef, but turns out it was a patty which the side dish already has a sampling of. Each side dish is exquisitely crafted, and it felt and tasted high-end. They even provided a side of miso soup. From that standpoint the price was very reasonable. They even had a dessert side to complete the experience.

Yelp
I'm usually a big fan of hot pot and this is a more upscale version. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant as it felt very zen. All the menu items are quite small, especially for the price. You'd need to order multiple plates per person and even then, I didn't feel full. The food was fresh but you definitely don't get value for the money spent. Also, there's only three different types of broths. We tried all three and they were only so-so. I think their setup is one pot per 3-4 people. If you order one drink, I would say you're looking at an average spend of $100/person.

Yelp
My first time trying a Korean shabu-shabu! I love the whole idea of rejuvenating oneself with soul healing food. For dinner you can pick between the shabu-shabu or the rice bento boxes, both options are $40. You get to pick a main course for protein and each set comes with 8 side dishes. The presentation was very aesthetic and each tasted delicious on its own. However if you have sensitive stomach, beware. The mix of all the different side dishes made me feel bloated and uncomfortable after the meal. I wish they had recommendations on which order to eat the dishes. There were a great variety of different tastes - savory, acidic, sweet, spicy, warm, and even one that's a sorbet. I think eating all these different mixture within a span of 10 minutes was what made my stomach uncomfortable. My friends that came with me all felt fine though. Overall had a great experience dining here. The set was definitely enough food, we all left stuffed.

Yelp
Gorgeous little Korean restaurant in K-Town. The interior, food plating, and even the menu book design were beautiful. This is a great place if you want to introduce someone to a hint of traditional Korean dining. We tried: 1. Bulgogi Gujeolpan (5/5) - The presentation was impressive, and the flavors were amazing. I just wish there were more miljeonbyeongs (thin wheat flatcakes). 2. Shabu Shabu (4.5/5) - It had a generous portion (the quality of the beef was good too), but it's not the typical hotpot style you might expect. The banchan that came with it was beautifully presented, though a few were quite unique. I personally thought the combination of select banchans (texture and scent) was a bit odd. 3. Yuzu Makgeolli (4/5) - It wasn't strong at all and felt more like a sweet cocktail. Overall, I'd say the food was decent and made me want to come back to try some of the single dishes. Oncheon is a beautiful restaurant worth experiencing at least once. *Reservation recommended - this place gets very busy on weekends. *Great service - the servers were attentive and accommodating. *One downside is that you have to share a pot (for two people), and it was a bit shallow.

Yelp
When they first brought out our food, I was like "Neh, this ain't gonna fill me out!". By the time I was done, I was so full! Sukiyaki ingredients were so fresh! This restaurant is beautifully decorated, feels like you're at some else's house.

Yelp
Oncheon is a Christmas Instagram paradise that can't figure out what it wants to be when it grows up. Is it Korean hot pot? Then why does it bill itself as shabu shabu, which is Japanese? Why are the dipping sauces Japanese and Chinese? For that matter, is it even hot pot? Then why are the pots so small, and the burners so finicky that you need to align them in perfect Indian Jones-style precision or risk being flattened by a boulder? I don't have the answers. I just know that we had one chaotic meal for our group of 8. The Crispy Beef Belly Fritters and Seafood Kimchi Jeon that we started with were quite good, but it devolved from there. Oncheon is NOT well set up for groups larger than four. Our table was too small for the pyramids of bento boxes they heaped on us, and we only had two burners and two small pots that would've taken countless hours for everyone to cook their bites of food. We got the Signature Doenjang and Spicy Curry for the Shabu Shabu. The former was bland, and the latter was too sweet (and not spicy at all). The 1st and 2nd Layers of veggies, wagyu, and mushrooms were fine. The 3rd and 4th Layers of additional small bites were lovely to look at, but I could've done without the fussy presentation if it meant having more space to eat without knocking over a box. Also, our server really needed to take a Xanax because she was more high-strung than a violin on crack. There were times when WE had to calm her down and assure her things would be all right--it felt like a group therapy session. All in all, I'll stick to grown-up hot pot restaurants that know how to handle the cuisine--not young noobs playing dress-up.

Yelp
A great, cozy spot for a warm meal! This hot pot spot in K-town offers Korean-inspired hot pot (not a spot that you can often find). The interior of the restaurant is cozy, warm, and very inviting. It's the perfect vibe for a winter day. The service here is pretty good and cozy. We got the doenjang hot pot with their wagyu set and it was delicious. Oncheon also serves you banchan that comes out beautifully displayed and very different than what you might typically see for banchan. Their meat quality was also pretty good! A bit pricier than other hot pot spots but I would definitely be open to coming back!

Yelp
We came in for their shabu-shabu Friday lunch special. We made a reservation ahead of time, but there were a lot of open tables when we walked in around noon. The onsen vibes were relaxing and fun, and even the menu was designed to be like you're opening a traditional onsen door. The shabu-shabu set, however, ended up being a disappointment, especially for the price. I thought that for what you're paying each person would get their own shabu-shabu pot, but each table shared one pot (this was annoying since the set is portioned per person so you had to keep track of which items in the pot were yours). We each got the doenjang broth (this was pretty mild flavored) and the beef. We also paid extra for the premium set of banchan. The banchan was very pretty but extremely tiny and not particularly standout. You don't get much meat - you mostly fill yourself up with with the seasonal vegetables they provide, and the set doesn't even come with a bowl of rice. We ended up ordering kalguksu on the side to supplement our meal ($4 for a small serving). They give you two types of dipping sauces (peanut and yuzu) but I don't like yuzu as a dipping sauce for shabu shabu and my friend was allergic to peanuts so I tried to avoid dipping my chopsticks in the peanut sauce since we shared the same pot. Overall nice vibes, but the flavors were fairly bland and it was expensive for what it is. Would definitely prefer going to a regular hotpot place.

Yelp
This spot is absolutely worth splurging on! Pro tip: if you go during weekday lunch hours, you can save some money on their lunch specials prices. The decor here is beautiful and I am already dreaming of my next visit. They have visuals of onsens and it's all very visually appealing. I wish the seats weren't so close to the door because it was quite cold when the door kept opening. The food however made up for it all. My friend and I opted for several things: Beef Steak Chanhap Meal Box, Signature Doenjang Shabu Shabu, Bulgogi Gujeolpan, and the Matcha Tiramisu. The spread truly was quite a sight. There were so many colors and elements involved in the entire display. I especially loved steak, it was so rich and fatty that I plan to order it again in my next visit. It was delicious eating it with the runny egg yolk. The little banchans on the side were also delicious. I loved that there were so many different flavors to explore. My favorite had to be the yuzu and lychee jelly. Coming in second was this delicious little dish with shrimp and some kelp noodles. I thought these were all so creative. I could envision some sort of set course menu with these in them. The shabu shabu was great and they come back to refill the broth as it slowly boils off liquid. I took my time with it and really got to enjoy all the flavors. I loved my time here and can't wait to return. It's an absolute must!

Yelp
Yummm this was a perfect meal for a super cold day! As a shabu shabu lover I had to check out this new place in town. We ordered the 3-layer shabu shabu (signature doenjang soup base), kimchi pancake, and 2 makgeolli cocktails. - Shabu shabu (3 layer, signature doenjang soup): 10/10 (loved the broth, but it did get quite salty by the end so I wish they helped us add more water or soup throughout the meal) - Banchan: 5/10 (kimchi wasn't my style and the Banchan was overall too sweet) - Kimchi pancake: 10/10 (crispy and yummy-- just how I like them to be. Also kudos to the fact that they used 신김치!) - Makgeolli cocktails (yuzu, honeycomb): both were yummy but honestly a bit on the expensive side-- I wish we could order just a bottle of makgeolli instead. Out of the two we ordered, I preferred the yuzu one because it was the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing, but the honeycomb one was good too (I liked how you could adjust the sweetness level of the honeycomb one by mixing in less/more of the honeycomb sauce).

Yelp
Pretty new hotpot place in K-Town. Saw some friends coming here so had to give it a shot. We made a reservation for a weekend dinner and were seated on entry. Service was friendly and helpful - our table stove wasn't working very well which they helped fix and they also gave us more broth when requested. Food was overall good. We got 4 servings for four people, kimchi jeon, and makgeoli. My favorite was the kimchi jeon (pancakes) which had some nice texture. Definitely can say the highlight is the ambiance. Need to hand it to them - Beautifully designed spot with lots of great little details which admittedly did add to the experience. All in all, worth a try if in the area.

Yelp
The restaurant's decor was nice and relaxing. It reminded me a lot like an onsen. Staffs were extremely friendly. As for the food, I think it was really overpriced for what it was. The spread is really pretty, but it's a lot less than what you would get at a Chinese hotpot place for the same price. The broth was mild and tasty to sip on, but after a while I got palette fatigue especially eating it with the wagyu. There were pickles on the side to help with this, but I wish there was a sauce paired with the set to help with the fattiness of the wagyu. The seafood pancake was good because of the sauce that it came with. The crust was a bit burnt while the center was a bit soggy. It did come with a decent amount of seafood. It was a cool experience to try once, but not worth the price for me to revisit.

Yelp
Really yummy! Ambiance was excellent, and loved the little set. Everything was super filling and warm on a cold winter day. My friend and I split the Sukiyaki and while it was a bit sweet, they gave us water on the side to make the broth drinkable! The wagyu was also extremely tender, and the veggies soaked up the flavor of the broth well. The side dishes were also so fun and delicious, my favorite was the pancake and the pickled veggies! A lot of variety and very unique. Would definitely come here for the experience and is a really fun place to catch up with friends!

Yelp
Was excited to come here on a cold winter night and so we did. We made day of reservation for 6 people and they had a few availabilities. we all ordered the shabu shabu and the waitress was really nice in explaining how to order from the menu. I think while presentation was nice it was more form over substance. The food was fine and made it difficult to share the different shabu shabu bases we got with a table of 6. Everything was crowded and not very communal. I made my stuff first and others had to wait, but we also didn't get to reach over and try the other flavor. The matcha cake also got birthday girl coughing up a storm. So while presentation and aesthetic were nice, the food was just okay and it was a rather inefficient meal.

Yelp
I've seen Oncheon recommended to me on TikTok and Reels so many times that I had to go try it. Located centrally in K-Town and close to other local favorites, it was convenient go to and easy to find. I went for dinner and ordered the following: - Tofu Pudding Salad - Korean Traditional Shabu-Shabu: Soy Sauce Sukiyaki - Extra toppings: Seafood Platter The tofu pudding salad appetizer came with crunchy edamame beans was actually really good. But honestly, you don't need to order any other dishes if you're getting the Korean shabu-shabu unless you are really hungry. I have not tried the other soup bases yet, but I would recommend the soy sauce sukiyaki. I've always been a big fan of sukiyaki, so it was a safe choice for me. One caveat is that sukiyaki can only be ordered if at least two people are ordering it. The shabu-shabu comes with a set of banchan per person, and I think all 8 of them were creative and delicious. It also came with an adequate amount of meat and vegetables. If you're a fan of seafood, I'd suggest adding the seafood platter--it was incredibly fresh. Overall, the service was a bit slow, but still excellent. The prices are fair, and the decor has a fresh, modern feel. I would definitely return. It deserves the media attention that it is garnering.

Yelp
Oncheon is newly opened by Glow Seoul group! The space is beautiful, as are their other restaurants and cafes. The attention to detail is unmatched. We had the wagyu rice box and a doenjang sukiyaki to share. It comes with soo much food and we couldn't finish it all. The wagyu rice box comes with a lot of rice but the meat and sauce is yummy. The doenjang sukiyaki was very flavorful, but a bit on the saltier side. The highlight of the meal was def the banchan! Everything was so creative and slightly modernized traditional. It reminded me of what you would get at overpriced course-meal restaurants, since it was so pretty and well-presented. The meal was reasonably priced for 2 people, they do have a rule of one entree per person so be sure to come hungry. The lunch prices are also so reasonable, I would love to visit for lunch. Overall, I would recommend! Perfect for this weather.

Yelp
Ambiance was very nice and calming. Has a very nice aesthetic look. Food was delicious and super filling. My friend and I ordered the lunch set and we couldn't finish it. Everything in the menu looked really good. Our server was great as he was very attentive and made sure we were enjoying our food. He gave great recommendations and very enthusiastic with his recommendations. We were not disappointed. Will def go back to try other things!

Yelp
Oncheon has been open for 6 months now and I will never remember how I found out about it but they got my attention from the first look. First of all, the restaurant is themed like an upscale onsen and really attracts your eye at every corner. As I was sitting down you can see bystanders or people passing by who would look upon its entrance in curiosity and few of them walking in to ask about this mysterious place. The design of the restaurant is very sleek and new with a great music playlist and a beautiful sight at every corner along with the screens on the walls showing beautiful depictions of nature. The staff were all nice and very professional. They start you out with a warm towel to wipe your hands and pour you a nice cup of hot tea in a solid black ceramic tea cup. I wanted to get the shabu shabu however I was in a hurry because of my train so I decided on the rice wagyu box which looked amazing. It came out in about 10 mins or so and my god it was a site to see. The chanhap meal box was similar to a bento box with 3 layers. One for the rice and wagyu beef and the other two for the interesting banchans included. The meat was juicy and delicious with the bed of rice and mushrooms and the egg. From the banchan my two favorites for sure were the lotus root and Yuzu lychee jelly. The lotus root flavor was so interesting it almost tasted meaty or seafoody but I couldn't match exactly what it was but I loved it. The jelly was supposed to be a cleanser or dessert and I just loved that it was icey too. It had just a nice soupy but a baby crunch texture to it. Special mention for the anchovies mixed with the rice and beef as well. Beware your breath will smell strong after but totally worth it. It felt a bit pricey but my thing is I got wagyu which is always going to be pricier and it's an elevated level of service and experience that they are giving which is something you won't find at most restaurants. If I go again, I really still want to try their cocktails and their green tea tiramisu looks heavenly. It's very apparent with how the restaurant, menu and food looks, a lot of effort and dedication was put into this place. I also got to meet the management and the gentleman was so nice! Got to talking about him being in New York for 12 years before living in Boston. It was a wonderful way to finish my trip in New york. What I got Chanhap Wagyu Steak $$$ Food 8 Atmosphere 10 Service 9

Yelp
The ambiance was very relaxing and I really enjoyed spending time and sitting there. The food was really good and the service was very attentive. The staff came back several times. And it was a very cozy spot to spend time to enjoy a meal and catch up with friends because it wasn't overwhelmingly loud.

Yelp
This is really a 3.5, rounding up to a 4 as it's their opening night. I really wanted to love Oncheon - it had all the makings of a great experience. Kind, personable service, a refined setting and a cute theme, but unfortunately in my experience the food was nothing mind blowing. Though I appreciated the upscale atmosphere and soothing music, there were a few faults in the experience. The bowls for sauce were comedically small, which though aesthetic made them very hard to use. The layer system for the meal was a cool concept, but ultimately became inconvenient due to a lack of table space, which led to us having to play a mini tower of Hanoi game each time we wanted to access a different layer. The food itself was good, but nothing special. I ordered the 4-layer Doenjang (would recommend getting the 3-layer instead) and left very full. There's a good balance of meat and vegetables with a huge amount of noodles at the end of the meal. The banchan was a tad sweet for my taste (perhaps appealing more to a Korean palate). I thought the lychee jelly was delightful, though not sure it alone is worth the fourth layer. Im not sure if I'd come again at the price point, but Oncheon was definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
We visited Oncheon on their opening day! We got the Doenjang Signature Shabu Shabu. Honestly felt mixed about my experience -- here are my thoughts: Good: - Portions are really big, each person gets their own portion so we had so much food. We couldn't finish even the half of the noodles given. I highly recommend getting the three level over the four level, we didn't feel like the last optional level added much and it was too much food - Service was great, attentive, and friendly - Ambience was serene, relaxing -- loved the decor and the music! Felt like I was back in Korea at the hot springs - The doenjang broth was really hearty and yummy! But could see how this can only fit specific palettes, it's not spicy or salty at all. Pretty authentic to the Korean shabu shabu experience - The house ponzu was pretty good Bad: - The banchan was honestly the biggest let down. They were definitely pretty, but honestly felt like a lot of dishes (the tofu gang jeong, the nuts) were a bit too sweet and even flavorless (the 묵 dish, don't remember its exact name). We got the four level with additional ban chan and we felt like it wasn't worth it at all. The most disappointing was the beef cream cheese roll, which was just... beef with cream cheese? Did not like that dish at all. Some of the dishes like the nuts or the lychee jelly we did like, but most were a bit underwhelming. - Sauce bowls at the sauce bar is so inconveniently small, and the sauce dip ladles were so small as well. They only had one sauce bar for the entire restaurant so could see it getting crowded Had a good meal, but I'd wait until they sort stuff out!

Yelp
This is my first time trying shabu shabu in New York and it didn't disappoint! We got the wagyu set, and our waitress helped us to set everything up. The meat was tender and I enjoyed the variety of vegetables. We also added udon at the end to soak up the broth. The banchans were very unique but similar to other Yelpers, a lot of the side dishes didn't quite do it for me, some were either too salty, or too acidic. I got their earl grey honey comb makgeolli, which was a fun take on the traditional drink.

Yelp
So happy I stumbled into this cute restaurant! Food was so good, but just as important, service from Hailey was amazing! Must try!

Yelp
Loved my wintery date night at Oncheon -- really cozy atmosphere with excellent meal and service! Upon entry, we were greeted with a warm smile by the hostess. Shabu shabu is perfect for the cold winter months, and the Korean inspired banchans were really innovative, delicious and colorful. All the ingredients from meats, vegetables, broth and even dessert were high quality and fresh. For an entire set that includes broth, meats, 8 banchans, and assorted vegetables, I felt like the price was pretty good at $45pp. Additionally, the staff were so attentive and prompt in clearing our table as we ate. They even included a matcha tiramisu on the house, which was so sweet. Would 100% come back again with family and friends!

Yelp
We had a Girls Night Out at a fairly new restaurant in K-Town Monday night. The minute you walk into Oncheon, you are greeted warmly by the maitre d. Brian kindly seated me even though I was 15 minutes early. I kept taking pics of the beautiful decor, from the entrance up to my seat. Overall, the service is impeccable, and the courses are so delicious!! We will be back for more!!

Yelp
Really nice interior, but one of my most memorable things thing that stood out to me about the place was their menu! Opening the menu was as if I'm opening a doorway. Came in for their wellness Korean hot pot. They had unique side dishes - not your typical Korean banchan. It's definitely a sophisticated hot pot experience, I loved the food presentation in the red trays

Yelp
Hot new Shabu Shabu spot in Koreatown. At the last minute I wanted to take my son here before he flies back to Tucson. We chanced it and did a walk-in but it was all booked. The hostess told us that we could sit at the bar area where we can order other items besides Shabu Shabu. The staff is professional but it was the hostess, Addy, that made the entire dining experience a 10/10 for me. After being seated at the bar, she came over to go over what we could order and suggested a few recommendations. I also enjoyed all the small chats whenever she came by to check on us. Here is what we ordered: - Wagyu Steak Over Rice 와규 스페이크 덮밥 Mistima Wagyu - Su-yuk 수비드 삼겹살 수록 Sous-vide Pork Belly - Wagyu Tartare 와규 육회 Wagyu Beef I ordered the Wagyu rare (the only way one should eat them imo). I love the light smoky flavor and the rice underneath was so savory. My son loved the Wagyu Tartare (+Uni for $20). The nori that came with was more like a thick cracker. It held all the components nicely. Their banchan sets are like little dishes of artwork, traditional but with a modern twist. The waitress took her time describing each one but most of it flew over my head. I was too memorized by the beautiful presentation. The way they marinated some of the items is just next level. On a last note: BEST KIMCHI EVER. Wish they sold them by the jar.

Yelp
It was a nice and cozy experience. This was the first meal we had after arriving in NY. The place was empty, but it was probably a Wednesday. We ordered the lunch special (beef steak and tteok galbi), which was $27 each set. It was beautifully presented, especially the banchan, it was just art. But the food was so so. It was a bit on the saltier side, and the banchan was traditional with a little fusion twist. Even though it was nicely presented, the food was neither hit nor missed.

Yelp
A few months ago my card didn't work and I ate at this restaurant when I didn't know. I ended up paying the bill. Forward to today I went here again this time I was told to pay the bill upfront which I understand. I requested a staff to bring out a plate of beef for my puppy. The Server didn't say anything didn't even mention it was extra. At the end of the meal I asked server for dessert which I got. I left the restaurant and one of the manager told me I forgot to pay. I told her that the beef was complementary. She didn't believe me and made me pay for dessert and the beef. When she gave me the bill she also mentioned about the bill that was 7-8 months ago that I didn't leave a tip. Keep in mind I was holding over $1000. She had the audacity to ask me for a tip that was for a bill months ago that was already settled. This was a very unprofessional.

Yelp
My best friend and I saw this place on Tiktok and Instagram and it went on our list immediately. It is super aesthetic and we have been wanting to come by for a while. I would recommend making a reservation online because they do get full during dinner time. The details of this place is immaculate - from the moment you come in it feels like you are transported into a Korean spa type restaurant. Even the menus are designed as a door. The bathrooms are super clean and they even use Aseop hand wash!! They are known for their Korean type shabu shabu - if you are a table of two then you get to pick one soup base and they recommend doing two servings of meal box. We had a group of three so we were allowed two soup bases. We went with the Bibimbap appetizer - which looked super pretty and it was fairly tasty. You pretty much DIY your own wrap. For drinks we got the Spring in Korean Palace - which is super refreshing and not too strong in alochol taste which I really liked. My friend and her cousin got Milk Tea Honeycomb Makgeolli and Omija Makgeolli - they both liked the Omija one better as they felt like the honeycomb drink was way too sweet for their liking. For the shabu shabu we got the Signature Doenjang and Spicy curry - HIGHLY recommend the Signature Doenjang soup base, so flavorful and delicious. The spicy curry was just alright. We did not order any extras and it was enough food for all of us. We went with the standard Waygu which was very tender and they had a good option of veggies given in their set. The side dishes were MID for us - we did not find them super special and they were just alright for us. Overall - such a cute place with great food. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have the chance!

Yelp
A nice and cozy spot on a cold winter day. The waiter was attentive and explained how to order from the menu. The cocktails were creative, refreshing and delicious. We started off with the kimchi pancake, which came out hot and crispy. We ordered the Shabu Shabu with signature Doenjang soup base, which came with three layers of meal boxes for each person (prime ribeye, beef brisket add-on, vegetables and a variety of banchans). We weren't a big fan of their banchans. We also opted to add the mushroom and fish cake platter as well which were both reasonably portioned. The broth was good sweet and flavorful, but it definitely got salty towards the end. We ended our meal with their green tea tiramisu, which was probably one of the best tiramisus I've had.

Yelp
A new vibey restaurant in Ktown, but there are few things to note here. But please note I came during their first week of grand opening! Ambiance: 5/5. Love the effort they put in to bring a hot spring vibe, with a touch of traditional hanok as well. From the entrance I was already taking my phone out trying to take pictures and videos of the decorations. I especially loved the calming/spa like music in the background. Clean bathroom as well, although the door/lock did not work as well. Food: 4/5. Nothing wow'ed us but they definitely were beautifully plated! Felt like the wagyu tartare did not have enough of the seaweed to eat with everything, and the crispy beef belly fritters were a bit hard to eat because they were very big pieces and not crispy enough to just chew and break off with your teeth. I would recommend cutting them into smaller pieces when eating! I was a bit disappointed at the sauce bar because each of them were so deep but I really had to scrape with the long ladle to my bowl to get some. The selections were also pretty limited but I definitely appreciated the yuzu ponzu being there! We both did the 4 layer soy sauce sukiyaki but did not feel like the extra 4th layer was worth it because they also were just very mid. The beef cream cheese roll was my least favorite because I really had to chew so much and it was just a mouthful of cream cheese.. The overall shabu-shabu was good, as you can't really go wrong with this, and the broth was flavorful and clean! Their only dessert is the green tea tiramisu but there is a lot of matcha powder at the top so make sure to get a good scoop of everything! The tiramisu was a bit dry and wasn't something we would order again. Drinks: We tried all 3 makgeolli cocktails; yuja had the most flavor and was our favorite, the milk tea honeycomb didn't really taste like milk tea but more like caramel? But it definitely tasted better once the honeycomb settled in more! Omija was our least favorite as it didn't have too strong of an omija flavor. As for the oncheon cocktails, we got Spring In Korean Palace and Glow Seoul. To be honest, they looked very pretty but the flavors were just okay. We had to ask for more fruity syrup on the Spring In Korean Palace b/c it barely tasted like anything.. The Glow Seoul just tasted like alcohol + Korean pear. The alcohol taste was pretty strong and it wasn't as refreshing as we thought it would be. Service: 3/5. Need to give some grace since it was both of my server's first time working when I went (they both told us), but there were few things to note here. We originally had a non-korean waitress, who unfortunately was not able to pronounce any of the Korean words correctly. As a Korean myself, it was a bit disappointing when hearing her mispronounce oncheon and doenjang because I felt like those words were pretty significant at this restaurant ): She also wasn't sure how to put the orders in and I looked at the POS system(?) to help her put our orders in, every time. We also didn't like that she kept emphasizing on the most expensive dishes on each page of the menu even though we were showing interest in other things. Also, she only asked us for either tap or sparkling but do know that they also have tap water! We said 'still' and it was charged to our bill later ): Wish she said all three options before we had to choose. Midway we got another waitress serving us, but it seems like they didn't really communicate well because our noodles came a bit late, and 5 seconds later the second waitress brought our noodles and looked confused.. only to bring it back to the kitchen. We also felt like we didn't get the service we needed WHEN we needed them, as we had to adjust the level of the pot boiling ourselves many times. Sometimes we felt like they checked up on us too frequently, or too soon, because they both came to ask us how everything was before we even got a chance to take a bite/sip at what just came out. Their lunch and dinner menus are different so I definitely want to come back during lunch to try their chanbap meal boxes!! Overall, I would give it some time for them to settle and figure things out and come back later, with hopes of a better experience! Wishing the best of luck to this beautiful restaurant~

Yelp
This is definitely an upscale shabu shabu place. We got the soy sauce soup, and it was kinda salty and got tiring after a while. There were actually not that much vegetables or meat, but I did enjoy their barley variety of the veggies. The sides were meh and the 4th layer was definitely not worth it. Overall, cost is pretty high for fanciness and portion size. However, I really like the vibes and decor of the restaurant. It felt super homey and comfy. Service was also always on top of it.

Yelp
Was super excited to try this place but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The good: - ambiance of the restaurant is amazing - food quality is good - good drinks - creative drinks and banchan The bad: - I was disappointed the most by the service: they dropped my chopsticks and forgot to bring me new ones until I asked again, they never brought replacement banchan for someone in my party who's allergic to shrimp, we kept having to ask for tea and broth refills, and overall felt that they could've checked on our table more. For a restaurant that seems to position itself as a nicer dining experience, I expected better service - the broth was fine at first but got increasingly salty as the meal went on. I assume the refills kept making it saltier and saltier. Typically I see places refill with water or some diluted version of the broth because as it boils the salt gets left behind but it looked like they were refilling with the same broth - matcha tiramisu was good but the layer of matcha was way too thick on top

Yelp
Ambiance is super cozy, perfect for a winter meal! Food is quite solid as well, we ordered the 3 levels package. Comes with lots of veggies and a decent amount of meat, was the perfect amount. Service was also great, waiters were quick and came by often!

Yelp
Food tastes really good! We got the basic hotpot platter and the waiter was very informative about vegetarian options. The tofu platter was pricy for what they give but the mushroom platter was a good deal. The honeycomb cocktail was delicious! Also the tofu starter was pretty and tasty. The inside felt classy. Star off for slow service, but otherwise good and would come back. Be prepared for Midtown prices.

Yelp
The food and ambiance were great! I had just gotten into the city and ate lunch alone. The service was mediocre. They did not come by once after the food came out. I was a bit disappointed since the food was delicious.

Yelp
Step into this serene korean dining experience located off the busy street of NYC Ktown. Warm yourself up with their signature hotpot soup or unwind with their uniquely delicious cocktails. But be warned, the good times are elevated by the care of the waitstaff, and the cocktails are quite addictive. We look forward to coming back and enjoying this special dining experience.

Yelp
I've visited this restaurant twice, and both experiences were just okay. I'm not sure I'll be returning anymore. While the ambiance and staff are excellent, food is not mind-blowing and the numerous restrictions and issues with the food made the overall experience feel more inconvenient than enjoyable. When I visited during lunch, only the Wagyu option was available (unlike how their menu says there 3 options, also note those 3 are also not available for dinner, only Wagyu is), which I wasn't informed of until after being seated. At dinner, the strict "one entrée per person" rule and the requirement to order sukiyaki for at least two people made the ordering process unnecessarily complicated. Wagyu box is recommendable out of all of their options... But the Shabu Shabu.. Sukiyaki broth becomes very salty, even after adding water, left me unable to finish the dish.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance and the food here. The restaurant is decorated in the style of a hot springs / spa - the atmosphere is relaxing and a nice contract to the business of ktown and tables are spacious. 3 of us each ordered the 4 layer box. Two of us split the sukiyaki broth and one of us got the doenjang broth. The top 2 layers consistent of 4 types of banchan each, and the bottom 2 layers consist of around 4oz of meat along with an ample serving of various vegetables. My favorite small dishes were the yuzu & lychee jelly (kind of like an sorbet, so save this until after the meal) and the kimchi wrapped bossam. We found the doenjang to be a bit too light initially, but arrived at a good saltiness as it boiled down. All three of us enjoyed the sukiyaki broth more with its signature sweetness complementing the light flavors of the unseasoned meats and vegetables. The portion sizes also felt just right - I left very comfortable both in terms of fullness and feeling healthy after the meal. We also got a the milk tea magkeolli cocktail which was fantastic.

Yelp
Really excellent food! Put together with a lot of care, the meal is balanced and generous. They really nailed the portions and proportions - I eat a lot, but when I was done I didn't need another bite. It must have taken some fine-tuning to know the perfect sized slice of pumpkin and half okra - those two were my favorites and I was surprised I wasn't craving more. I'm sure they will raise their prices at some point but for now it's very reasonable for something that could definitely be sold as high-end. Didn't feel pretentious despite being pretty fancy and delicate. Last point is that a few of the banchan are really unique and fun to eat. The kimchi is wrapped up in a cute way; the meatloaf-y galbi/pork cube is extremely tasty; the frozen leechee-ish thing is just the right amount of sweet. Several of the banchan leave you with a light but distinctive, whole natural flavor: fennel frond, yuzu, candied kumquat, celery. I liked that.
