London’s Best Caribbean Food and Restaurants - Eater London

"Whilst most of the earlier Caribbean food businesses in the direct area focussed on providing takeaway services befitting the space available to them, One Stop filled a much needed service in the area by offering restaurant dining from 9 in the morning all the way up until 11 at night. The shop endeavours never to run out of food, meaning a breakfast of saltfish and ackee, with a hard food boil of dumplings and green banana can be had late into the night." - Riaz Phillips

If you’re after some real Jamaican food, One Stop Caribbean is where it’s at. I’ve tried a few places around, and this spot just hits different. The Caribbean Fried Chicken – wow, proper crispy on the outside and still juicy inside, with that seasoning that just makes you keep going back for more. The Rice & Peas were done right. Then there’s the Jerk Chicken Patty– the pastry was flaky, and the jerk seasoning had the perfect balance of spice and smoky flavour. I also tried the Boneless Chicken which was crazy tender. The Festival was sweet and golden, just like it should be. The Macaroni & Cheese was creamy and cheesy. And, the Pattie & Coco Bread Sandwich – I went for the Beef & Cheese Patty, and it was a proper treat. The soft coco bread just melts in your mouth with that savoury, seasoned beef patty inside. So good. But the highlight for me? The Oxtail with Fried Dumpling, Rice & Peas. The oxtail was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone, with that rich gravy soaking into the rice and dumplings. That oxtail gravy? Proper soul food right there.

Sat 12th July 2025 between 2:30pm - 3:45pm During our recent visit which included two members of my family, we were initially greeted by a lovely light-skinned lady who provided attentive service while taking our orders. This first interaction set a nice tone for our meal. However, our experience took a disappointing turn when we proceeded to the take-out section to place an additional order, spending over £100. Unfortunately, the older woman serving at the counter did not present a welcoming demeanor. She seemed irritated by our presence and made an insulting comment, suggesting that our takeaway order was delayed because we were "talking too much," despite our substantial order. This was particularly frustrating, especially after the positive service we received earlier. While the two younger staff members were pleasant and accommodating, the behavior of the older woman stood out negatively. Her unwelcoming expression and dismissive attitude towards our order requiring me to repeat it twice before correctly processing were disheartening. It left a sour taste, overshadowing what could have been a fulfilling dining experience. Having grown up in Harlesden in the 90s and frequently visiting this establishment as a teenager, I had high hopes for our lunch outing. I was convinced to bring my family here, but given the circumstances, I doubt we will return. I've heard about a new Caribbean takeaway restaurant around the corner, and we plan to try that next time instead.

Subject: Deeply Disappointed After 25 Years of Loyalty I’ve been a loyal customer of your restaurant for over 25 years. It used to be my favourite spot in Harlesden – full of flavour, character, and warmth. Sadly, over time, it’s become increasingly soulless and overpriced, with a noticeable decline in quality and service. The last few visits have been particularly disappointing. It feels like you’re taking loyal customers for granted, and frankly, for a ride. Even the ratings reflect this decline. Unless something changes soon, I fear the place won’t survive much longer. For my part, I won’t be returning – and I’ll be sharing my experience with others. You’ve lost a long-time customer.

I have ordered from One Stop a number of times over the past year and so far have no complaints with the food ordered. Jerk chicken and brown stew chicken always tastes good. Customer service in the shop could be more welcoming!

Ordered over 50 quids worth of food from here which would be the last order I make from this place. The oxtail is swimming in grease which had to be drained off The curry mutton was again full of grease pictures provided. Rice and peas was 100% bottom of the pot burnt and dry. Plantains like bike tyre The only 14£ dish that was passable would have to be the curry chicken other than that the other dishes were a total waste of money and for this place to be “serving Caribbean food” is a disrespect without a doubt the chef should call it a day and pick another hobby. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND GET YOURSELF A CHINESE OR A THAI CANT GO WRONG.

Yesterday, I called and asked for a Large red pea soup, i was told that there was no red pea soup and instead I ordered a large chicken soup. I was waiting over an hour and a half for the soup to be delivered to me, when it arrived I was sipping the soup, when i reach half way of drinking the soup, there was no chicken, no potato, no carrot, no veg, and no meat. I specifically said to them on the phone, I only want one dumpling in my soup. When I realised there was 4 big stinking dumpling not even a piece of chicken bone. No meat nothing at all! I called back the store, and they replaced it. Even though they sent me a replacement I never consumed it. I will neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr be ordering from One Stop in Harlesden again!!!!!!

Google
I'm giving this rating simply due to a purchase I made for salt fish fritters and a patty. For £2.50 I received something with the edges so burnt it was brown and tooth breaking hard to the point that you could hear it crunching when chewing it. The middle was a bit softer you could taste the pepper but not much salt fish. The patty was not much better, it was dry with the pastry slightly burnt around the ages. I will still go there for their soups and porridges etc but the snack foods I will definitely give those a miss.

Really good traditional food served up here in Harlesden. Do not be deterred by any bad reviews. To my understanding it was because deliveries were late to arrive from my own personal experience myself and my late father has been coming to one stop for many years since they opened there doors and the standards have not dropped in any way. You have reasonable prices and portions here. Best thing to do is go into the restaurant and pick up your order. You have local paid parking at the Tesco car park or what I do is just park along the side road next to one stop Caribbean. I will be back again soon.

Yelp
TAKEAWAY REVIEW ONLY all very delicious, hot when it came, and definitely my go-to for caribbean delivery! i would for sure recommend for those who aren't particularly all about seasoning/spice (a tragic condition) to for sure get plantains and patties, always perfect :)

Yelp
This is a neighborhood with a lot of ethnic eateries, many of which are kind of :un down" or have the look and feel of low end "friend chicken" mini chains. One Stop is different. It's big, bight, casual yet smart looking. There's a selection of Caribbean-influenced stews, entrees, pastries, curries and more. I had some battered salt fish (1.50) that had a spicy kick and proved to be a perfect snack. A lot of people were doing takeout while others hung out at a "seat yourself" table. There's also a DJ playing reggae - though it's neither loud or has a club feel. I just think he wants to show off his CD collection!

Yelp
The girl was kinda rude. I walked in, said hi twice and looked at the menu and she walked to the back. One minute later I left... I and came back but that's when I realized I had no other options other than KFC. I disliked my saltfish but the beans and rice was good. I think it had cabbage on it too. I got saltfish because Jonathan liked it. I'm not big on fishy fishes and I meant to get it fried but I was frazzled and confused and hungry. I ate that meal like it was steak and lobster but didn't like it.

Yelp
Complete time wasters . Accepted my order, waitied over an hour with no driver assigned. It's only when I contacted deliveroo to cancel the order that they informed me the restaurant is closed even though the order said they're preparing the food. Don't take my fucking money and accept the order if you can't be arsed to actually send the food. You didn't even have the professional curtesy to call me. That's the kind of shit show they are running, I wouldn't even fuck with them if JJC (Jamaican Jerk Centre) was still open. Fucking amateurs

Yelp
I usually have food from here as a take away delivery. The good is delicious. They do not skimp on portion size and the food is fully flavour. I love the dumplings, saltfish, rice and peas and whatever soup of the day.

Yelp
I've gone to a lot of west indian restaraunts and takeaways in my time and for me, this is one of the best around. The food is unbelievable. I wouldn't call it a restaraunt per se, but there are seats to have a quick bite and enjoy your meal. Also, I find that some staff in certain caribbean takeaways (not all!) can be quite abrupt, but they're really friendly there. Prices aren't too bad either. Would recommend my favouritecurry goat andf the saltfish fritters. Mmmmmmmm!
