Oni Ramen

Very very good bowl of ramen. We walked in late after a long delayed flight into town. We really enjoyed the warm bowls of ramen and found them to have a pretty good amount of spice. We would definitely go back for another bowl!

Spicy spicy ramen! Super generous portions and great ingredients. I have a high spice tolerance and even the mild spice ramen had some kick to it. My girlfriend had to get extra broth to water down her medium spice ramen, so respect the spice here! I got the garlic tongkatsu ramen and added a soft egg to it, also tried the chicken and rice. Both were fantastic choices. This is a solid spot for some delicious ramen in the heart of Deep Ellum!

The food is the main star of the restaurant. Had the ramen and a bowl of pork chashu. The ramen was rich and smoothing, the noodle was perfectly al dente, and had a nice level of spice. The chashu bowl had lots of meat to rice portion. The only slight issue was needing for sauce but you can probably ask for it. With the left over I combined the leftover pork chashu bowl and ramen broth and made a great meal similar to a risotto style. The atmosphere is nice to eat on a good day but too cold on the inside. Its all self served but that is fine. Oh and takoyaki was decently good. Recommend for the food, not the vibe.

Oni Ramen always hits the spot. The broth comes out rich and punchy without feeling heavy, and the noodles stay that perfect chewy texture the whole way through. Service is quick, the vibe is low-key and it’s pretty small inside.

It was my first time having Ramen and they did not disappoint! Flavors were good, nice portion, and broth on point. I got mild and it was still spicy, so no spice for me next time. 10/10!

Today I went and it just tasted really insipid, watery, and unflavored 😔 the only flavor in this bowl was the pork and egg. The broth tastes like spicy water. I was very disappointed cause it looked so good!! Very overpriced too.

Deep Ellum is eclectic but holds a lot of gems. This is an incredible one. I have no complaints, no notes. I like eating places that are not complicated. The price point isn't ridiculous and you can eat here any season. The staff is doing what they need to and I really only like eating outside? I don't know if that information is useful here given that the star of the show is just the food.

We were in Dallas on our trip to see the solstice when we found this place. A few of the other ramen joints in town are closed on Tuesday, so it was a pretty easy choice. We sat at the bar where the bartender/waitress took our order after giving us some recommendations. Service was great for us, seems like if you don't want to order at a tablet sitting at the bar is the way to go. Our ramen came out relatively quick. This might have been one of the most flavorful ramen bowls I've ever had. Most good ramen I've had is more delicate, with a nuanced balance of flavor. Our ramen at here was bold and exciting. The soup was great, the egg was well marinated and perfectly cooked, and the chashu was straight up the best chashu I've had. My bowl of Tokyo Black ramen came with a spicy sauce on it, which this place is known for. Their spicy sauces have very distinct tastes that fuse the dishes with Tex-mex chili peppers. I only had the medium spicy, but it was enough of a kick for me with some pop from the distinct chili pepper taste. The noodles were good, not the best I've had, but easily better than most ramen joints. The prices seemed a little high, but they give you giant portions for ramen. Neither my GF or I were able to finish our bowls. The ambience was great for us. Good music was playing, it was raining outside, it was very chill. If I ever make it back to Dallas, I will be back

Great appetizers here. We shared edamame ($5.75), gyoza ($6.75) chicken karaage (8.50) Texas Mazeman no broth ramen ($15), 2 chicken chasu Don bowls ($6 each), water no beverages. $61.24 with tip. Order at a pad and be seated or wait service only at the bar. Service was good once they located the bartender who had stepped out of the building. Trendy ambiance, interesting murals albeit a small dining area. Would definitely go again, very good food.

Typically I find it pretty hard to as a vegetarian to find a good ramen restaurant with a flavorful and spicy option, so I was pretty ecstatic when I came across Oni because their ramen was very customizable both with toppings and spice level. I came here with a friend and we both LOVED our orders. The service was pretty fast and this was a great place for catching up. We didn't feel rushed at all either. I will definitely be coming back

The type of ramen joints that is worth to mention and visit. I appreciate the different types of ramen they have instead of the regular "miso" "shoyu" blah blah blah. Give me something new. Which they did. Heres the breakdown and you must order: -Texas Mazeman: for someone who wants noodles but in a soup form. So much flavor and perfect chewiness. -Tokyo black: for someone who's a daredevil. This one is a good one to try. Another flavorful ramen -Oni reaper: good flavor. The most basic out of the three i mentioned, but still good. Ambiance: place is quite small but has 3 tables in the back and along the wall. Will i be back? Yes, if im around DTX again.

Went to Dallas for a birthday celebration and arrived almost an hour early. So my eldest and I decided to grab a bite to eat and chose ramen. Came across Oni near downtown and we clearly caught it during the bustling night scene. Bars and clubs had music playing. The streets were inundated with party goers during their own pub crawl. Nestled in between two of these hot spots was the small ramen shop. Union entry you can't help but notice its limited space. Along the left wall is a shelf that extends the length of the wall with four kiosks for ordering and bar stools for sitting. In the far back were probably six tables that could possibly hold four guests, snug but, comfortably. To the right was the main bar and I grew window bar stool tables if you wanted to people watch while enjoying your meal. The place had a divey charm to it honestly. On to the meal. For appetizers we started with the sweet chili wings. My son had the reaper ramen and I had the signature miso pork belly ramen. The wings were fried excellently; the sweet chili sauce had an unusual aftertaste that I didn't care for but didn't detract from the wings themselves. The reaper ramen was well prepared. Spicy and filling. The pork belly was even better! Hearty and savory. I chose a mild spice to better enjoy all the flavors but they do have spicier options. The played current and classic hip hop hits. The noise blended seamlessly with the atmosphere outside. The restroom however!?!..... hard pass. If you're ever in Dallas and like ramen give them a try. Wait time wasn't long and meals come out quick

New to the area and it's 29 degrees. Looked up ramen places and decided to try this place out. Yummy. We had the chicken Karage. The ramen was amazing. A must try I ordered a sprite in a glass bottle and the hubby ordered a beer. You can order at the bar or the kiosk After ordering take a seat and come up when they. Call your number. Bring a sweater it's chilly inside even if cold outside

I would give zero stars if I could solely bc of the customer service. As you can see, the ramen looks great however extremely unprofessional, rude, & the staff have a huge attitude problem. My friend ordered ramen & she put on the kiosk that she didn't want spice however, the broth ended up having spice in it. I have a high tolerance for spice & even tried it myself to see if she was overreacting but I could taste the spice in the bowl. You can also see the spice in the picture as well. I honestly felt like I was being gaslit when we told the staff member because we were told there was no spice in the ramen.. People make mistakes all the time.. it's okay to admit when you're wrong & it IS possible that the kitchen staff messed up & actually added spice or maybe the server switched the bowl on accident. I honestly wanted them to try it themselves but even if they did, I'm sure they'd still deny it just so that they wouldn't be in the wrong. We were still denied a remake or even a refund. Looking back, it's actually comical this happened because I've never experienced this anywhere else before. So much potential but wasted due to the customer service and lack of knowledge on how to interact with customers & deescalate situations. I believe there is a lot of work to be done here & I am not the only one that experienced rude customer service considering the other reviews that were left.

Don't judge but their ramen is so good that I ended up getting two bowls. The tempura shrimp was definitely the highlight of my meal. It was lightly battered and tasted like it was made fresh in house since the tempura was still so crispy. The broth is packed with flavor and the service is so fast. I ordered at the kiosk with all my additions and substitutions; and before I knew it, they were calling my number.

Black tonkotsu ramen is good :) order by the kiosks and they'll call your number to pick up the trays. They also have some seating outside in the back.

Ramen was very decadent and tasty! The chashu pork was tender and well cooked. They have efficient ordering systems using Ipads where you can select your options in detail. Water is also easy to access. We ordered extra broth as well and that came out quickly! Had a great time here and the artwork was quite peculiar!

I will begin by saying this place serves fresh, tasty food and it comes out fast. But if you're looking for value-priced food, friendly, personable service and comfort while dining, this is not the place. A group of us from the office arrived to this trendy spot in downtown on a Wednesday afternoon about 11:45am. There were six of us & we were expecting a sit-down lunch, only to find this place a tiny, narrow place with a very few tables in the back & a crowded counter in front to retrieve your order. Directly across from the counter are about 3 kiosks to place your order. I don't mind admitting I'm a bit of a food snob, but I will always give a place a try. I might have given more stars if: 1) Someone would have acknowledged us when we entered - there were tons of staff in there & they were moving at a steady pace - not rushing. 2) Someone would have walked around from the counter or at least shouted - place your order on the kiosk! Sure, they're right there in your face, but someone like me is not used to being forced to place my order this way, so I didn't even notice them. 3) Would have been great if someone would have - dare I say - come out from behind the counter other than to place to-go orders on the rack. Tell us where our food will come out & where we go next. Actually tell us when we enter whether there is seating. After the big disappointment in ordering, we decided to take it to go and drove back to the office. I snapped a couple of photos of my food but due to the fact that a few people walked in right after us, we felt rushed to get out of there (is that the owner's preference, that no one dine there?), so I didn't take any photos of the place. I don't eat ramen (shocker, lol), so I ordered chicken thigh on steamed buns. Ingredients on their website menu: steamed bun filled with your choice of protein, greens, pickled vegetables & hoisin. On the kiosk, I thought I saw red onions & tried to remove it, but there was no option to get it the way I wanted. And the website informs you that you'll receive (2) but I didn't see that on the kiosk. All that time waiting I thought I paid $8 for one, ha. I have to admit it was delicious, so 5 stars for that. The meat was fresh and not greasy, the buns were light and great. I loved it. My co-worker ordered - Signature miso $14.50 Website menu listed ingredients: creamy pork broth seasoned with sweet & nutty soybean paste, topped with pork belly, bamboo shoots, corn kernels, bean sprouts & green onion. She didn't want the bamboo shoots but there was no option to remove them. She's ordered from this place before, so she knew what she was getting and loved it. I love downtown and the little hole-in-the-wall places but I wish the person who selected this place would have done a little more research - it's definitely not a place to sit down & enjoy your lunch with 5 other people, but rather a place to order delivery from. Which is fine, since the food is good!

I just returned from Orange County California after 4 months and although California has great restaurants nothing compares to this place!! I couldn't wait to sit on the patio with a cold beer and ramen!! If you guys are reading this please consider adding the soft crab!!

Never did get that refund for the rice back. Such a shame, I really loved this place. Good food is only part of running a restaurant. Customer service is another. Blaming the customer and false refunds shouldn't be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The food here is expensive and bad. Me and my boyfriend ordered a soft boil egg in our ramen and the egg wasn't even runny. It was more on the hard side. I also ate the Tokyo black ramen and it made my stomach hurt. There's better options out there. Save your money and go to a better restaurant.

Expensive is what you need to know first After that, we had tasty miso with chicken, shrimp and beef Pork belly too (it was not hot and I was disappointed.) Dingy restaurant but it's Deep Ellum ambiance. People were nice and friendly Pyper's first experience with traditional ramen-she was ok with it Medium spice was hotter at the bottom of the bowl than the start. Medium is still spicy let me tell you. Ample portions so makes money you spend seem worth it But I'd come back

Oni is by far the BEST ramen house in Dallas! Even though the restaurant itself is small, it is the perfect place for lunch or dinner! Don't expect to be served like at a restaurant if you're going here, but do NOT let that deter you from going! The Tokyo Black is absolutely PHENOMENAL and being able to customize your dish is super helpful for even the pickiest of eaters!

Extremely tasty, high-quality ramen with vegan options. Having seen that they have vegan options, I decided to stop in for dinner. When I arrived, I discovered that the ordering system is like some Japanese places, in which you order on the screen, and then they call out your order when ready. I like that format in general, but the customization options to make the ramen vegan were a bit confusing. I ordered the tan tan men ($13.50), I selected the vegan option, but the screen still said that my ramen was coming with egg noodles -- I had to confirm that it indeed was going to come with the vegan yam noodles. You also select your spiciness option, so I went with "spicy" (+$1), the third out of five options -- I'm glad I didn't do higher. My ramen was ready in about 5 minutes. It came with a large portion of noodles, tons of tofu, bok choy, woodear mushrooms, and green onions. The bamboo shoots, oddly, are marinated in tuna, so they simply omit that topping for the vegan version without allowing a replacement. I hate when places just delete stuff to be vegan without compensation. Anyway, the ramen was truly delicious. The broth was super complex and pants-shittingly spicy. I can handle my spice, and this was borderline too much, but still handleable -- I can't imagine what the higher two levels would be like. Overall, delicious ramen, despite the blips and shortcomings I mentioned. Highly recommended for tasty, spicy, creative vegan ramen.

I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the broth tasted like water. I had never had something so bad before. I was really disappointed. The piece of pork that I was given was mainly fat and inedible. I've had better instant ramen than what I was served today.

This used to be my favorite ramen place when it was in FT. Worth, and was excited to try the Dallas location. I ordered the Miso ramen and was disappointed to find it only had one piece of pork belly and that the corn had no flavor. Took it to go and when I got home they had forgotten the spice on the side, and as a spicy meal lover it ruined the dish. Also the small is super small so be cautious when going and watch out for busy hours!

First time here and it was Delicious!! Loved it so much and definitely got full and still have leftovers for later! Highly recommend.

I ordered off Uber eats and my delivery person handled my order with care but the restaurant did not. They forgot the extra egg I paid for, they barely added bamboo shoots and I paid $5 for that one extra thin slice of pork belly. The light asari already comes with one... or it comes with two and they forgot that aswell. The ramen itself tastes good but it would've tasted better if I had the extra stuff I paid for.

This use to be one of my favorite places to get ramen but it seems like every time I go the prices have increased more and more.

This is the closest ramen spot to me and I am very glad. When you are in Deep Ellum, Oni is the place to go. When you walk in you order on the screen. It was a simple process and the food came out fast. We sat at the bar area and got to order drinks while there. The guy was super nice. They had some great music and i loved it in there. Great food and great vibes!

Welcome to Oni Ramen - a small, intimate ramen experience in the heart of Deep Ellum with...LATE HOURS My friends and I debated on going to a few different spots and landed on Oni - and now we're happy! From the fully customizable menu to the swiftness of service, we will definitely be back. The ramen broth needed extra soy and a little chili flake to be truly flavored (preference). I chose the "mild" spice level because they cautioned the choice of level. Next time, I'll go for something spicier. If you're in the mood for ramen and near Deep Ellum...look no further!!

Stopped in for dinner and had a great meal. There's a self-ordering station and once we got the receipt, we sat at the bar. The person behind the counter looked at our receipt, and our food was out, just like that. We didn't have to wait long at all. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant.

Ordered on Favor - had been wanting to try for awhile. Great portion size and delivered well. The pork belly had a slight crisp and was YUMMY! Heads up; the medium is more like a mild. My husband even said it was a little too much spice. But overall, huge flavor and really delicious.

I literally dream about this ramen.... The pork belly was the best I've ever had... I love how you can pick your spice. My only negative would be that it was a little too cold in there, but otherwise 10/10!!

The food is amazing every single time, but ordering is such unpleasant experience, that 80% of the time we end of ordering someplace else. The phone either rings a few times-goes to voicemail-then immediately have a busy signal the next 3 times you attempt to call... We will try again ANOTHER DAY. Update. Went in physically to order to go. They said they do not even have a phone at all. The number clearly rings when I call. And what type of business doesn't have a phone at all. Cmon yall. Do better.

Ordered the vegan ramen, which included the yam noodles and tofu. Noodles were tasteless and chewy, the tofu was bland, and the rest of the soup was basically an unholy amount of onions and canned corn. Broth was passable but not great. Order was about 20 minutes late, which was frustrating since I stalled getting there so I wouldn't have to wait for my food. Will not be eating here again.

Came here for the first time and tried the Tokyo black ramen! Coming inside you order on the tablets then pick any seat and sit down. Very easy process. The shop is small to medium size but they also have more seating outside. Food came out fairly quick and at first look there is just a lot in this bowl! So many different toppings, a lot of meat and although at first the bowl seemed average, it was very very filling. Flavourful broth, noodles were good, the pork was interesting not bad but im not sure if I liked the ancho flavor on it. It tasted like a fusion ramen but not in a bad way. Only real complaint is that it is really pricy. If they had any lunch specials or hh then I would come more often but not sure if I can justify spending 20 bucks on a bowl of ramen for lunch often .

My friend introduced me to Oni and I love it! I get the Texas Mazemen who h is brothless!!! It comes with a sweet and tangy sauce instead and it's so good! My fiancé who isn't always opened to try new things even thought it was really good! Service: I usually order pick up but I've went in once late night and it was good service. Overall: Would recommend!

It's an artsy Ramen place located in Deep Ellum with spicy Ramen. Their miso ramen has the perfect balance of flavor with soft boiled egg and pork. The mushrooms add that umami flavor which elevates the game. Service is quick, too.

Quick, efficient, delicious.... Just a few things that come to mind. I've only eaten here once but plan to come back. It was a quick stop while walking around. The rain started pouring so we decided to stop in and I'm so glad we did. Self serve. Enjoy!

The worse ramen I ever tired in my entire life. Temperature of the ramen was warm, not even hot. No taste at all. It was horrific.

There is a kiosk to order food, which is nice just because I can look at the pictures and be hands on. They call out your food for you to pick up later. I do wish they had bigger tables to eat on just because it was just me and my friend but it was hard to eat together without being scared of the food being pushed off. The takoyaki has lots of flavor!

Came here for a late night ramen run, and the place was packed! Had I not skimmed thru the reviews, I would've been a little confused as to ordering/seating. When you enter the restaurant, there are a couple tablets on the left-hand side where you place your food/drink order. Spice level is customizable, but don't order too much spice if you can't handle it because there are no refunds/remakes. Once you place and pay, find yourself a seat at any available table. When your ticket number gets called over the loud speaker, pick up your food (& grab some cups of water) by the middle of the restaurant. I believe everything is "self-serve" unless you sit at the countertop bar area. I got the Light Assari ramen, which is a chicken broth-based ramen. The ramen itself was better than average, and the broth was flavorful and had an abundant amount of toppings. The pork belly was very tender but had a dried out crusty skin on the top. I liked the hustle-bustle atmosphere in here, and the packed restaurant added to these vibes. It's definitely a more casual place to dine at, but the food is still delicious!

Another amazing visit! The reaper ramen is very good! It is spicy, and I always eat super spicy yr amen. Pork is cooked and flavored perfectly and melts in your mouth! A couple pieces were cooked less than normal, but that was a first. Third time and all three visits were fantastic!

The only ramen spot my boyfriend and I go to. It's pricey but definitely worth it because the quantity and quality is definitely there. They serve the food very quick too.

My overall experience was only okay. 1. You have to order at a kiosk and pickup your food at the counter yet your are asked to tip. No one is actually serving you though! 2. The food was meh. The classic ramen was good, loved the miso base but the broth was just warm not hot at all. The chicken wings tasted like spare parts from another animal. Maybe it was the marinade? 3. The seating is cramped and not good for groups. Literally 2 tables in front and 2 in the back. In the middle is a long wall of bar seating that faces a brick wall -- yes facing a brick wall.

This review is for my experience on May 15th. I'm only giving this place 3 stars because of how good the food was. They lost two stars because of their lack of service. My friend and I walked in right after it stopped pouring down raining. The girl at the bar didn't speak, did not greet, but simply handed us napkins, chop sticks, water, and menus. It felt like we were being more of a bother than a guest/customer. She finally asked us what we wanted to order and we did just that. The food was really good. I orders the Omni Reaper which was very flavorful, a really nice portion, and I left satisfied from that alone. As time went on, it seemed as if the workers there (besides the ones actually cooking) we're more interested in talking to each other and hanging out vs checking on their guests. My friend and I were the only two at the bar, and I'll say the tall light skin girl was certainly more intrigued with her life events along with her two friends who were also sitting at the bar (not clocked in yet because I heard one of the cooks inquire about that). I'm always big about a customer or clients experience, and if the food wasn't good, I would have verbalized how we felt like we were being a bother vs someone coming to support and pay them for their service. The food was literally their only saving grace. So if you want good service, do not expect it here. If you want tasty food, I say support the owners 100%. I'll never forget the three faces who my friend and I saw during our experience here. The young lady behind the bar might need to start calling out orders from now on.

I absolutely love this place! I've only been there once but I love me some ramen and this might be the best ramen I've tasted in Dallas. It may not be super traditional but their recipe has been well thought out. Instead of the slider pork you get little chunks of pork belly that are so tender and add some depth to the soup. Warning: if you ask for spicy, be ready to get spicy! Lol I love spicy so it was amazing for me. I'll definitely be back and update this review if need be but for right now... it's a 5 star for me baby!! Also it only holds 38 people in total so don't go with a huge party. It's more like a cute little dive place where you take a brunch date or meet up with a friend. But even then I loved the environment and the food was quite amazing! See you soon Oni!
