LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"After an almost three-year hiatus, The Butcher’s Daughter people have reopened their Venice wine bar in a new space on Abbot Kinney. Expect a hi-fi system, natural wine, and wellness-coded cocktail riffs like a rose mezcal negroni or reishi mushroom espresso martini. They’re open from Wednesday through Sunday evenings, or you can hit “Wild Hour” from 4-6pm for specials on drinks and small plates." - cathy park

A Hi-Fi Restaurant and Speakeasy Are About to Jazz Up Venice’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard | Eater LA

"Opened June 18 on the ground floor of a charming converted bungalow next to a shuttered Abbott Kinney spot and less than two blocks from Butcher’s Daughter, this restaurant and vinyl listening bar grew out of a pandemic-era natural wine and music pop-up. Culhane saw the former Neighbor space and suggested it to Tierney; Tierney launched the original natural wine and music pop-up in the early days of the pandemic next door to Butcher’s Daughter, showcasing natural wines, vinyl DJs, and bands. For this iteration Common Wave built a custom sound system and soundproofed the space, which was transformed in six weeks; Culhane served as a wine and design consultant while Tierney (founder of bi-coastal Wanderlust Design) took on the primary design role. Tierney says, “We opened a pop-up version of [the project] next to the Butcher’s Daughter. We took over the Other Room as an experiment for nine months in 2021, which went really well. I fell in love with high-fidelity sound when creating a system for myself at home, so I wanted to make one at [the project]. It’s a place you don’t have to commit to. You can just pop in. It also has a cool selection of vinyl. We wanted to offer something to the community and share our love for natural wine.” Tierney brought over the chef and culinary team from Butcher’s Daughter, Richard Rea; the plant-based menu includes a lion’s mane mushroom raviolo, lentil caviar with a jalapeño crema, house-made truffled potato chips, and a spicy Greek tirokafteri dip served with Butcher’s Daughter focaccia. Cocktails include twists on classics such as a rose mezcal Negroni, a smoked olive Martini, and a celery Collins with gin, grapefruit, celery soda, and Crème de Pêche. Guests can select an album or song to play, or catch a set by a live DJ. Hours: Wednesday–Friday 4 p.m.–midnight, Saturday 2 p.m.–midnight, Sunday 2 p.m.–10 p.m. Reservations are on Resy." - Mona Holmes

Where to Sip a Spritzes in LA This Summer | Eater LA

"With its tall windows and exposed brick, Abbot Kinney’s light-filled natural wine bar is an ideal spot to people-watch on the Venice thoroughfare while snacking on a cheese plate or pizzette as the day winds down. A compact selection of low-ABV cocktails includes the “wild” spritz (rosé aperitif, floral amaro, sparkling water, prosecco, blood orange)." - Keyla Vasconcellos

I’ve loved this place since it was at its other location further down the street. Was very sad to hear it closed but very happy to see it just loved to a better location! Food is great and love the wine selection and events they have over the week!

Yikes. Went there on a Wednesday with a dinner reservation for four and was seated at a tiny table that was lower than all of the seating. Two spots on a bench against a fence with no back support and two three legged stools. I don't think any seat in the restaurant in or out on the patio has a back to it, not a place to linger and enjoy your meal and company. The room was full but tables kept moving around every time someone got up from a 'maybe that table will be more comfortable' seat. People were grabbing stools that seemed better but everyone was forced into a hunched over posture no matter what because of the low tables. Talked to three other groups that were unhappy with how the tables/seats worked and were configured. Despite a line outside due to social buzz people walked in, sat down and then left before getting service multiple times while we were there, presumably because of how uncomfortable they were and how service was. We stuck it out to see about the food and drinks though. Upside: Cocktails were all good, but again the bar wasn't comfortable and had no good ventilation despite open doors and beach breezes. Food: We got the mezze platter and when it showed up our table had no room for water glasses, cocktails, food, tiny share plates and silverware. Salty, mucky, uninspiring and nobody explained what each item was. Fortunately they couldn't get people to stay at the table next to us so we just started using that as well to discard things after we tried them and decided they weren't for any of us. Felt like a two top being sold as a four top with trendy looking but bad tasting limited menu. So many other options on the block (including Butchers Daughter), try them. Restaurant: Throw out all your furniture and try again, seems to have worked when RVR redid their space from MTN with actual seating and booths that people and relax in.

Loved the vibes, only issue is that their pours of wine are so small. I’d recommend they be more generous with the pours to attract a consistent crowd/ regulars, otherwise the $$ isn’t worth it.

What a special place! The atmosphere, service, drinks and food are all 10/10. Looking forward to making this the spot for girls night.

Great atmosphere. Service slow when it's busy. Wine glass is tiny and $18+

Yelp
Amazingly patient, kind, and caring staff! Come if you're interested in live VINYL DJ sets, and the outside deck area has a sick beach house chic charm.

Yelp
This is my new go to spot for a girls night. It's a beautiful indoor/outdoor space with plenty of street/neighborhood parking. We didn't have a rez but the host was super friendy, and suggested a quieter spot. We had a bottle of the Gamay, eggplant dip, lentil caviar, and "lamb" meatballs. Everything tasted great! I also love that it's vegetarian. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This spot took over what used to be Neighbor and what was Willie Jane before that. The space is beautiful, with its white and wood interior. We were seated rather quickly, despite it being a busy Friday evening. Our server was not exactly warm, but he was efficient and impeccably dressed. Once I exchanged my Rose Mezcal Negroni for the Orange Blossom Daisy, I was happy with my cocktail. The heavy smoke in the Negroni was overwhelming, to the point where I told my friend that my mouth tasted like an ashtray. The place was packed with a quintessentially "Venice" crowd - a mixed bag of fashionably dressed people. The music is loud and catchy, and conversations were upbeat and energetic.

Yelp
Super cute wine bar! I love the new location, it's decorated super cute inside and there's also a rooftop speakeasy. Great wine and cocktails. The pizza place next door will deliver a pizza up to the roof for you which was also super cool!

Yelp
Really cool spot ! We stopped by before our dinner plans and it was a great decision! The vibes are very chill with great ambiance. Love that they had a live dj mixing with vinyl which i thought was unique. The drinkings were amazing! I tried the celery collins and it was refreshing and perfect. They also have a great selection of orange wines and various of other wines as well. Service was friendly and welcoming. We will be back and hopefully checking out their food
