*4.5 would probably be my true rating - will explain*
After a long weekend stay in Key West, my husband and I were looking for something that had a good variety of menu items outside of seafood options or sandwiches/burgers.
The shuttle for our hotel dropped off right next to this Onlywood location, so we decided to give it a shot after glancing at the menu before being seated.
We went on a Monday night around 8:15ish and we were taken to a table right away. Given the option of indoor or outdoor seating, we chose the outdoor seating on the open deck. The lighting outside was low but not so that you couldn't easily read the menu.
Our waiter was prompt in getting our drinks to us, but outside of taking our food order and bringing our check, we saw more of the individual bussing our table than our waiter himself. It may be that the restaurant has developed this service model purposefully, but as another review mentioned, I wish we could have tipped the bus service above our waiter. He got our drink refills promptly, gave us bread service, cleared dishes quickly, and was attentive to anything we needed.
The food itself was delicious. We ordered the Tuna Tartare, which we really enjoyed. The flavor of the tuna was fresh and subtle without being fishy. It was accompanied by crostini and an assortment of toppers: jalapeño slices, diced red onion, capers, and house guacamole. I do think I came across a small bone in the tuna (something poked the roof of my mouth when I took a bite), but it wasn't large enough that I was able to tell for sure whether it was that or a piece of the crostini that broke off during the bite and got the roof of my mouth just right. Either way, the quality of the fish was great and I kept eating and would order it again.
After the appetizer, we decided to share a wood fired pizza. The Forza Juve stood out and did not disappoint. It was a sauceless pizza with a truffle oil base topped with cheese, Porcini mushrooms, and shrimp. While it might seem the odd combination, we both loved it. The truffle oil was present in just the right amount to not be overpowering. The mushrooms had almost a meaty flavor but didn't mask the shrimp, which was perfectly tender.
If looking for a non-seafood heavy menu, this would be a great place to try. We will likely be back on any future trips, especially if pizza is what we're after.
