This is the best value for your money in terms of food, atmosphere and soul. Oh wee Bbq is food made from the hesrt and soul. I am a repeat customer from Canada. Their bbq chicken legs, mac and cheese and baked beans were soulfully delicious. Nashville people, please come by and visit.

I ordered the grilled leg quarter fried meal with collard greens and Mac and cheese with fruit tea. The leg quarter is so moist and seasoned well. My 5 year old devoured the Mac and cheese and the collards were full of smoked meat. I will return again

This little lot is absolutely what the name says. The best and fastest BBQ Joint I have ever been to. The prices are great. And the food is amazingly delicious. I made a call-in to check if he was open. Unfortunately, he was not. But insisted on leaving his home to open and make my 2x Turkey Legs order. What an awesome owner.

We're pretty picky about BBQ and this is the best we've had in the south. A lot of places get the meat tender but flavor (both smoke and spices) are lacking. This had it all. The brisket sandwich was very good (2 big thick slices) as was the chicken quarter. The ribs were absolutely amazing. Love the corn nuggets too! The parking lot is a little small, but think of it as a drive thru and you won't be confused. The two guys working that day were friendly.

This place obviously doesn't want me as a customer! I've given them too many times to serve me good food and they've failed both times. I try to support businesses in the area and this is how they do me! First let down was when my order included the GRILLED WINGS and so called RIB TIPS! I ordered the 6 piece. The wing's were so rubbery and tough, I couldn't even finish eating one of them. Had to throw them all away. When I say rubbery, I almost mean that literally! The so called RIB TIPS were okay as far the the flavor of the meat, but they weren't RIB TIPS. They are actually torn off pieces of a RIB. That's not tips. So false advertising there. I had BAKED BEANS and POTATO SALAD for my side and they were really good. Today, I gave they a second chance and what do you know, terrible food again. I ordered REGULAR SHOULDER SANDWICH and a CHEESEBURGER! My last visit to this place I wasted $35. I wasn't going to spend that much this time. My total came to $18, this time. The SHOULDER meat was so bad, it was inedible! The CHEESEBURGER was dry and plain. No season on it and they left the cheese off and still charged me for it. I see other reviews and this place seem to serve them good food. NOT ME!! Most other Barbecue places are usually packed with customers. Not this place. I'm always the only customer when I go there. THAT'S A SIGN PEOPLE, THAT SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT HERE!

I just left Ooh Wee BbQ, and the rib tips and macaroni and cheese are amazing! Theirs so much flavor in the macaroni and cheese melts in your mouth, and I love that it's baked. The rib tips are cooked perfectly and are very tender. Next time, I plan to have barbecue sauce added to them. I'll definitely be back because they offer a variety of food options at their restaurant.

This man has the ABSOLUTE BEST ribs i have ever had in my life, they literally fall off the bone they are so tender. No sauce needed they are smoked for so long they have an AMAZING flavor. He is a true master of his craft! The Spaghetti is my wife & I 2nd favorite. His wife takes her time & adds that home cooked love in every side dish she makes. Takes you back to the good ole days when Grandma's cooked Sunday dinners. One of Nashville's true hidden gems!!! If you like smoke meat & bar b que then you have got to go see this man. It'll make you say OOOHH WEEEE!!!

The BEST BBQ I've had in Nashville coming from a native Texan. So Smokey! The real southerners know the best food comes from places that appear run-down but are full of love. Service was fast -- about 5-10 minutes ready after placing order in person. Best turkey leg you can get. They accept cash and card/tap. Will be coming back!

I bought three sweet potato fries pies for my mom's best friend, her husband and me. Mom's bestie asked if I'd ever made fried pies because the ones my mom made years ago were so good. Mom died in 2002 and I don't remember what they tasted like. Bestie said the ones from Oowee are tasty but not as good as Mom's. That may be true since Mom was a hella great cook and baker. The pie made me swoon so I'm now a huge fan and want to taste the fruit pies. I'm sure my mother's were prettier, but these will do until I make my own.

Came to visit the dental school with my daughter from Phoenix Arizona. I must say I had the best brisket sandwich of my life! (I'm a fat girl and know my food) Add some mac & cheese, some collard greens and a fried pie and some fruit tea. This is a must try!

This is my favorite place to get shoulder sandwich from, the shoulder sandwiches are the absolute best, the guy that owns the spot is very nice and aims to please!! It's just a small building but he has a spot where you can eat outside and always have a good conversation to go with it, I don't know the guy name that's on the grill but he is hilarious and kind!! I highly recommend they also have good turkey legs, and variety of other great food, ohh how can I forget the fruit tea is the absolute best fruit tea I've ever had in my whole 33years of living m!!!

Not only is the bbq the best in town but the service is unbeatable. I stopped by at 10:15 hungry and no one was there. But the smoker was going. I called the owner and he was there in three minutes to get me full. Didn't even ask for a tip.

Actually was at the Jefferson St Sound Museum and decided to go here for lunch. Not a fancy building, BUT had smoked chicken: juicy and flavorful! Fall off the bone practically! Fried okra just right, and collard greens that were incredible. And all washed down with fruit tea! A few picnic tables on property so easy to enjoy the meal. Looked at others meals around me and they looked delicious too! Lots on the menu! Hard to decide!

I was going to eat at a more popular chain restaurant, but decided to patron a small business instead. I was not disappointed! I ordered a brisket sandwich, potato salad, collard greens, fried pie, & fruit tea. The brisket was tender & the collards were flavorful. I'd never had fruit tea and was very impressed! To top off my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and the "Pitmaster" who were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return to try more of the menu.

I actually missed this place and drove right by it!! It's a small, stand alone building and the menu is outside on the side of it. It doesn't look run down by any stretch, but the building is aged. The fact that the gentleman charged me $8 for the food was awesome. He said that because my 'wait was long', that he took some of the price off. Commendable for sure. I appreciate the kind gesture, and I think it speaks to the character of the establishment. On to the food! I got two chicken quarters (dark meat), and a side of Mac and cheese and green beans. The chicken was pretty good for sure, moist and good flavor. The sides: the size of the sides were in these little shot glass looking cups. Obviously not very filling, but the flavors of the sides were good. I'd recommend this place to anyone who needs a lighter lunch. But again, the character of the place is what swayed my to give a 5 review.

Stopped by after a funeral and for some reason non of our credit cards worked. A nice man named Bull comped our food. It was so good! The rib tips were outta this world. We live in Ohio but will be back on our next visit.

Pre-lockdown experience. I couldn't let BHM go by without reviewing/promoting a black business. Ooh Wee BBQ is legit. It's in a part of Nashville that tourists and transplants rarely venture* so it can afford to do things like offer leg quarters for a dollar. You read right. A leg quarter will only cost you a dollar. Four quarters and a side is a meal -- and that's just what I landed on. Sure, the ribs smell great. The fried oreos are the truth. A fish sandwich and/or pork chop sandwich will satisfy and make you want a nap. But your wallet can't beat those quarters. It can't. And when you smell and taste the smoke and love that goes into that bird, well, you'll be hooked. For a side, you can't go wrong with the greens. Here's a pro-tip: get 4 quarters, shred the meat and mix them into the greens. You're welcome. Another tip: know where you're going. It's a small shack on the side of a busy street. If you're not looking for it, you'll pass it by. There's on premise parking (and ordering) but when in Rome do as the Romans. In other words, park across the street at the bank, run across the street, order, pay, keep an eye on your car and an ear on your food, get your food, run back across the street, leave. Again, you're welcome. I should get paid for knowledge like this. *But gentrification lurks.

Just looking for a simple quick pickup lunch in Nashville TN...We always support local, small family owned businesses. The food risks are high but the rewards are always better than the best corporate chain. This place is an example of greatness....We ordered the lunch special, chicken leg quarters, two sides. What a great surprise, it was pure excitement all the way home smelling the food. After 15 minutes we dug into a tasty treat of pleasures...there was a smokey sweetness, moist fresh chicken thigh with touches of salt and pepper, very backyard flavors. The collar greens were definitely grandma's, very yummy.Mac&cheese and potato salad were homemade , very tasty. So there is a very large selection of foods to experience in the future, we will go back. This is a small business that's earns its living from serving it's customers great food everyday!

Fried okra was amazing but the "catfish sandwich" was not fish it was definitely tilapia! Called back and spoke with the manager and after he finished screaming at me he hung up.

So I've been driving past this place, smelling the hickory wood seeping into the bus, and always made an excuse to stop. Until one day, I finally just parked the bus on the side of the road, dodger cars to cross the street, and $3 had some of the absolute best bbq leg quarters I've had! Seriously. The woody flavor of the chicken with the seasonings and tenderness is what KEEPS me parking this bus any time I'm on that side of town! Honestly, I don't clean bones. Never have. I pulled this bone out by accident; it kinda fell out to be honest, and that's just one of the every single times that happens! They have an extensive menu that I have yet to try, but if the rest is the menu is half as good as the leg quarters, I'll be exploring it very soo !

This BBQ is awesome!!! I eat here once a week. If a week goes by where I do not get my fix, the cravings start. You can taste the essence and soul of there food in every bite. Off the bone good!!!

EDIT: the owner of the restaurant (assuming that's who it was) did make things right and apologized after I got off the phone with him and returned to the restaurant. I understand people make mistakes and I will try the restaurant again. Horrible restaurant. Food might be ok but expect to be charged double with no explanation, apology, or offer of a refund. Just a "well you got extra hahah". So my $12 order of ribs and SMALL order of $2.25 corn nuggets cost me $25.50 with no explanation or reason. They just charged my card. THEN when I questioned it I was told "well we rang you up for a large. Yeah your large is $7.25. So where the hell is the other $6 you snakes?!?! Horribly dishonest company.

There was a maggot in my greens!!! I will never be back. The wings were dry rib tips had no flavor the okra was like soggy hush puppies with okra embedded in the middle. Fries are like microwaved and thennnnn I opened my greens took a bite then discovered a whole maggot!!! I am furious

The best value around. It's a drive through so no parking and eating on site. I was staying close by and will definitely visit again when I'm in town. The corn nuggets were good. I haven't had anything like these nuggets of fried creamed corn before. Chicken was good too.

Portions has gotten smaller, rib tips not as tender as before, Meat has no seasoning, maybe they just season chicken

I got a smoked sausage and a fried sweet potato pie. I was really disappointed in my sausage. It hardly had any mustard on it and it didn't have any onions on it. I did really like the fried sweet potato pie, that was pretty good. Everyone was kind and it didn't take that long to wait for the food.

i got the turkey leg, coleslaw, potato salad, and their $1.00 pieced chicken. the chicken and potato salad were unbelievably good. for just $1.00 you got huge pieces of chicken on the bone, and they were delicious. next time i will be ordering more than just $1.00.

Went here today for the first time ever. Best catfish sandwich I've ever had. I also had they're quarter leg with two sides for 5 bucks deal. Amazing! Irvin was super cool and you can tell it's a homey type of restaurant where they make food with love. It's amazing and more places should be like this. Thank you for showing me what good BBQ Sahkuld be like.

I like the little quaint spot. The customer service is outstanding and though it may look like you traveled back in the day to your Uncle Bubba's trailer in the hills of East Tennessee the meat was fine, tender and tasty.

I'm a native Nashville Jan and I can tell you that If you want really authentic delicious pulled pork or white or catfish, go to Ooh Wee BBQ on Jefferson St. Local folks with a fantastic product. it was absolutely delicious. Drive-through grab a sandwich with some delicious spice fruit tea. Fun folks are running the place it's a small business that needs to be supported and the pork was melt in your mouth tender and delicious. I whole hog recommend it! I had my first Ooh Wee moment!

We were in town for a bachelor party and we needed some good BBQ. One of the guys mentioned that there was one in the neighborhood so we decided to check it out. Ooh Wee Bar-B-Q checked all the boxes. Great food, great people. Thanks Ooh Wee for the hospitality.

Omg this is the best BBQ I've had since I moved here. They were friendly but more importantly the food was delicious not too smoky or salty nicely seasoned. I would highly recommend this place! They do accept credit cards and it's super affordable.

Say what you will about the hot chicken in Nashville, but the best smoked chicken in this town is from Ooh Wee. Seasoning is amazing and the smokey flavor really hits home if that's what you're looking for. Sides are incredible, and the prices cant be beat. $1 for an entire leg quarter that's probably better than most of the places charging anywhere from $10-$15 a plate. If you're a local or just visiting I honestly believe this place is a must visit. It may not look like much from the outside, but the flavor of everything here is KNOCK OUT. Keep it up Ooh Wee! First day in Nashville - my wife and I were rushing to get cleaned up to go to a concert and didn't have time for dinner. We ordered delivery to our hotel and picked it up in the lobby. The portion size of a full rack of ribs was massive. They were delicious. We also got beans, coleslaw and fries - all very tasty. The ribs were expensive and the menu says market price so you don't know, but I'm on vacation so I don't really care. Highly recommend.

Man oh man. Huge bbq sandwich - as big as my head. Great potato salad. The collard greens were the star of the show - but of course they were. Fast service and good prices.

So let me start off with I'm from Texas and we know our BBQ, specially since two places in my town have been ranked top 5 in Texas. So I had to try this place. I had the ribs and shoulder sandwich with okra. The Okra was delicious and the ribs were a bit too fatty for my taste but still somewhat good, once I got over the fact that they were pork not beef. Check your order my sandwich had mold on the bread so I didn't eat it. If you need extra BBQ sauce ask for extra they only give you one, and make your presence known, they were serving their friends and family first even though I was in line first.

Is this the best BBQ in the world? No, but it's very good and I am giving this place 5 stars because the prices are great. This is my type of place. I mean $2 smoked Chicken quarters? And the sides are homemade and delicious. My wife is not a fan of collard greens, but she likes them here. And don't forget about the Chess Pie squares! I could go on. Friendly staff, affordable prices, and quality food. What's not to like?

The first thing I noticed when I bought my house was the incredible smell emanating from Ooh Wee. Their smoked wings are incredible, as is their pork sandwiches.

I did Uber eats to my hotel. I was kind of annoyed that I couldn't ask for barbecue sauce on the side on the app. The coleslaw and the Baked Beans size are very small and not worth 2.99.The brisket sandwiche is definitely smoked and was very good however it was so soggy I couldn't even pick up the bun. Good but maybe do not do uber eats or don't get brisket as a sandwich.

Best barbecue I have ever had in nashville. Freddie is the name of the owner. He is super nice. We went on Sunday not realizing they were closed. Luckily, Freddie was there cleaning. He opened up just to serve us and it was wonderful. NOTE: you want the Jumbo pulled pork. Regular is a little small. Also, Freddie says to not pay attention to the hours listed online. He closes when the sun goes down.

I love bbq with all its variations from region to region, country etc. and I have had bbq in Nashville before. I have to say that this was absolutely the WORST bbq I have EVER tried! I'm in town for work and chose to use Ubereats and never again will I order takeout without doing my due diligence. The leg quarters were completely burnt to a crisp with no meat on them, the smoked sausage looks a week old and I've never had a brisket sandwich so dry...EVER! The only edible item was the coleslaw. I truly hate I threw the sorry meal out before I took pictures. If I could give this place zero stars I would. What a waste of time and money! Don't bother unless mediocre is your style.

UberEATS order. Had the catfish sandwich and a small bucket of the rib tips for dinner. Wow what a great sandwich. 10x better than the catfish tacos from Martin's I had the night before. Need to try the other items the next time I'm back in town.

I had the rib tips. It was very juicy and flavorful. My wife had the pork shoulder sandwich which she raved about and looked absolutely amazing. I would go back all the time if I lived in Nashville. Must try it. It's a little trailer on Jefferson St. But it is good.

Good cookin' the good old fashioned way. They have large portions and they offer student discounts which is great if your a student and on a budget.

I swung by this spot on a whim after spending the day at Meharry and it was phenomenal. I ordered hot links, turkey leg, and ribs. Everything was spot on, especially the ribs. I'm not from the south and so don't usually say things like "ooh wee," but ooh wee that food was damn good. Hit these fellas up, they know bbq.

I flew into Nashville and hit Waze up for a bbq restaurant that was in route to Memphis. It came up with Ooh Wee Bar-B-Q on the south side of Nashville. This is a food cart kind of place with a bunch of smoker grills out front. You pull up and they come to your car and take your order. The man that took my order asked if I had ever eaten there before and I said No. He said "you'll be back!" I pulled around and a man named Jerome saw me and asked if I had ever eaten at Ooh Wee BBQ before and again I said No. He said "you'll be back!" I said you're the 2nd person to say that, I hope you can live up to it. Jerome said "don't even take a bite of it while you're in the parking lot or you'll never want to leave!" Well Jerome was correct! It was by far the best BBQ I have ever eaten in my life! I ordered a sandwich and fries. Next time I will try the ribs, I know they will be delicious! I cannot tell you how awesome that BBQ smelled and tasted. If I lived in Nashville this would be my favorite place!

Found this place on diners drive ins and dives....AMAZING...I always call ahead so my fish sandwich is waiting. The ribs are so meaty. I usually spend a fortune here because the men in my life steal my food when I get home. So I have to order enough So I will have some after they hustle me for my ribs and my ice tea.

Ordered through Seamless and we were not disappointed. The man who delivered was so sweet and said he hoped we got that "Ooh Wee" Moment and boy did we. The ribs are so flavorful and tender...literally fall off the bone tender. The baked beans, cole slaw, and okra are awesome too. My husband is a touring musician and eats BBQ every chance he gets and was thoroughly impressed--he says he's still sucking the sticky and delicious sauce off of his fingers!

One of the best BBQ joints I've ever been to, and for a super reasonable price. The owner is a really cool guy and he expressed his gratitude for our visit. He's a dude who's got a passion for good food and knows how to work a grill. I had 3 chicken legs, macaroni and cheese, and French fries for $8. Highly recommend it!

$1 Leg Quarters - that sign alone made me 2 lanes and turn in!!!! So glad i did too. I've been a huge fan of this place since that magical day. The leg quarters are a nice size and tender. Fish sandwiches and rib tips make you want more. If you're really a foodie, get an order of gizzards - my order rarely makes it home. Great gem with amazing food for a decent price.

I was at a meeting at Meharry and saw the sign as I was heading to the interstate. My husband is a huge smoked wings fan so I stopped in and pick him up a dozen as well as some pulled pork. The reviews from my family were over the top. If you find yourself on Jefferson Street - or do not mind a quick drive from down town this place is totally worth it.
