Ophelia - Review - Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation
"We understand it sounds like a spot where high schoolers hang out in the backseats of their cars, but this quiet parking lot on US1 in Coconut Grove is home to a tiny trailer filled with pastries as good as anything you’ll find in an actual bakery. Ophelia has breakfast sandwiches on housemade english muffins, olive oil cakes topped with cream and blueberries, and a coffee cinnamon roll that’s already in the running for the city’s best. The sweet pastries aren’t overly sweet, and the savory options aren’t too heavy.

Get there as close to 8am as you can if you don’t want to deal with lines and a cleaned-out display case (and know that they’re only open Thursday through Saturday). It’s not the most comfortable summer dining experience, but there are benches and tables under a big oak tree right next to the lot if you don’t want to eat in your backseat.
Food Rundown
Coffee Cinnamon Roll
It’s everything you’d expect from a fantastic cinnamon roll (soft, gooey, warm). Plus, some amazing things you wouldn’t, like a sour tang from the coiled dough and a peppery coffee glaze.

Scrambled Egg, Cheddar, and Smoked Bacon Breakfast Sandwich
The star of all three breakfast sandwich options here is the fresh english muffin. The little golden disc fits neatly in the palm of your hand and is the ideal balance of sturdy and soft. We tried all three, and the bacon, egg, and cheese came out on top.

Banana-Walnut Bread
In every bite, you get the banana, at least one shard of walnut, and a fat ribbon piping of cream cheese frosting. A triumph of banana bread engineering.

Olive Oil Loaf Cake
Your spoon sinks into this loaf like quicksand. It’s soaked so thoroughly with olive oil, you could wring it out like a sponge and have enough oil to fry an egg.

Banana Cookie
Too many banana-flavored foods taste like scratch-and-sniff stickers, but this one tastes like a literal bunch of bananas got stuffed inside a soft sugar cookie.
