"Try not to gasp when walking into the Or Bar for the first time. The West Hollywood bar opened in late 2022 with a showstopping custom chandelier that hovers over the bar. With 3,700 pieces of crystal, it’s meant to make a statement. The same goes for the cocktails and lounge feel of the room. Located inside the former Gold Coast Bar and across the street from Connie & Ted’s, the Or Bar (which translates to “gold” in French) is a welcome addition after Southern California lost many historic queer bars throughout the pandemic, including the 40-year-old Gold Coast in 2020, as well as Flaming Saddles, Oil Can Harry’s, and Rage. People here are truly hanging out, and if you can believe it, talking. The place skews loungey, but not in a tacky, bottle service kind of way.
