The 15 Best Thai Restaurants In San Francisco

"We go to Oraan when we’re looking for modern Thai dishes packed with spice and citrus. Take the tum pon la mai fruit salad, which turns a traditional papaya salad on its head by adding strawberries, pineapples, and grapes all dressed in a thick sweet-chili dressing. Or order the rich tom kha soup that brings mushrooms (and dried chillies) front and center. While sharing the salad and soup is a good move at this Richmond spot, you’ll also want to order an entree just for yourself—there’s no way you’ll want to share your plate of green curry layered on top of medium-rare pieces of steak. Oraan Thai Eatery Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"At Oraan Thai Eatery, focus on two things: the tum pon la mai bathed in a sweet chili-lime dressing and the rich and spicy tom kha soup. The tartness of those two appetizers is more than enough for us to keep coming back to this modern Thai spot in the Richmond. While sharing the salad and soup is the way to go, this is one of the few places where we love having an entree to ourselves, like the neur marakot with green curry and kaffir lime. It’s simply the best way to dig into the big plates at this casual dinner spot that’s just a tad nicer than your average spot on Geary. And thanks to two big dining rooms, you’ll have no problem walking in last minute on a weekday, even with a large group. Food Rundown photo credit: Oraan Thai Eatery Som Tum Pon La Mai This salad is loaded with fresh fruit—usually a mix of strawberries, grapes, and pineapple—and coated with a sweet chili-lime dressing that will leave you puckering your lips. Order it every time you visit. photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez Tom Kha Soup Rich, creamy, and just a tad spicy. The addition of galangal gives your nostrils a bit of a gingery kick and rounds out the dish to make it the best soup on the menu. photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez Gai Manow This deep-fried chicken is a little too greasy and minced for our liking. Feel free to skip it." - Ricky Rodriguez

At lunch time the place was near empty. The place is super cute and the service was good. Had the Choo Chee Salmon, it was amazing! Truly, fantastic! Indulged into a Thai Pumpkin Custard, which was cute, very nicely presented, and not very sweet. Definitely want to come back here. Great spot for a romantic dinner as well.

Google
tasty thai restaurant in inner richmond. dishes were well executed and left happy overall, but don’t expect to be mind blown. service was also above average and appreciated the friendly servers! crispy eggplant: appetizer was OK. safe and decent choice but didn’t stand out yellow curry: would recommend! good flavor and filled with toppings

Google
We ordered Som Tum ( papaya salad), Thai fried rice & Kang Dang. Since we are vegetarian and wants to customize she was so nice and customized the Kang Dang with Yellow curry instead of Red curry ( Red curry had fish sauce). The taste was so good and we pretty much emptied the whole plate without a drop. Nice Quantity except the fried rice could be little more quantity. The service was soo good and very peaceful place and nice atmosphere. I would recommend if you haven’t been there to give a try.

Google
Gai Himmaparn: 10/10 so flavor; the chicken was so crispy and the sauce was sweet and tangy and pairs well with the jasmine rice Nuer Marakot: 10/10 the steak was so juicy and marinated to perfection; a must try!! Pad Seew: 7/10 definitely had better; was a little cold; beef thin so it was a little dry Mango sticky rice: 10/10 best I’ve had in SF Thai Iced Tea: 10/10 very solid; good flavor and not overly sweet The staff was AMAZING and the place is so beautiful and lighting makes the place feel cozy

Google
One of the best Thai food meals I’ve had in years! Every plate was delicious and they had plenty of vegan options or dishes they could make vegan. The fried eggplant, pad see ewe, and yellow curry were amazing 😍

Google
the food here is excellent! Flavorful curries, amazing noodles, apps, drinks, EVERYTHING! Waitress was super courteous and patient. Dining room (and even bathroom!) is clean, no sticky floors!

We had an absolute blast at my friend’s baby shower! The food was mouthwatering, and the venue was perfect for our little celebration. All in all, we had an unforgettable time together!

Google
Let’s start by saying the crispy eggplants were amazing, that was hands down our favorite of the night! They serve some “fancier” Thai dishes which were aesthetically pleasing. The prawns were good and the mango sticky rice was very refreshing. The service was quick and they’re very nice people.

Yelp
Had a serious craving for pad Thai and decided to give this place a try. Super happy that we did! Curry puff; solid appetizer. Both my son and I really like this. Came with four good size puffs, some cucumber and onion, sauce on the side. 4.5/5 Pad Thai with river prawn; the price difference between this and the shrimp wasn't significant so we opted for this. This dish had a good balance and freshness that I was looking for. 4.5/5 Green curry with meat; we were worried that it would be too spicy, so we ask for the sauce on the side. It was a good amount of kick for us! The meat wasn't too tender but still good overall. 4/5 Water; Yes, water! Clean lemon water. How many times have I picked up cups of water throughout various restaurants and put them right down because there are traces of weird smell that doesn't belong? IYKYK. Simple decor. The restaurant fits more people than it appears from the outside. Will definitely go back to try more dishes!!!

Yelp
Loved their appetizer gai manow. Yum The lemon crème sauce on top was awesome. The Sukho noodle dish was very tasty too. Vegetarian Thai Fried Rice with fish sauce. Plan to return to try more dishes that we can't find anywhere else!

Yelp
Very friendly service and variety of special thai dishes! The gai manow was a nice and crispy chicken, the inside was not a cutlet but ground up like nugget. The sauce on top is not as heavy as it seems and i enjoyed the fried veggie. The choo chee salmon was crispy and had a red curry sauce, needed side order of rice with it. Salmon was cooked nicely. The sukho thai noodle was had broth like tom yum but thicker. The variety of pork meats was good, and rice noodle soaked all the flavor.

Yelp
- friendly service with a great menu offering interesting dishes and combinations of ingredients - we will return to explore different aspects of cuisine - sometimes we seek comfort in our expectations and traditional flavors and now I can try tastes new to me with excitement.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 The vibes of this space was so cute. I love the decor and the lighting in the space. Good place for a date night or girls night! Nuer Marakot: 5/5 I've never expected that ribeye would taste so good with curry. YUMMERSSS Som Tum, Medium Spicy: 4/5 SPICYYYYYY! Honestly it was so spicy but very flavorful. I would get mild next time. Druken Noodles: 4/5 No complaints. The norm. Gai Manow: 4/5 Very interesting, very unique lol. Lowkey looked like a key lime pie when we got it. Definitely cool to try but i don't know if i would order this again. Feels like it should be a desert but very instagramable.

Yelp
Came here with the hubby after coming back from Coachella! We were craving home made food after a weekend in the desert. Ordered the fried chicken, pad Thai with prawn and the pad see ew. Everything came out quickly and was delicious per usual. Quick service, attentive waitresses, most importantly delicious, good size portions. We were so full after! Looking forward to dining in again.

Yelp
Had an early dinner here yesterday with a few of my friends. Arrived when they opened and got seated right away. Our party ordered the following: Tom Ka - Thai coconut soup that is spicy and sour hot soup Kapow Moo Krob - crispy pork belly w/ basil in a Thai and chili garlic sauce Hor Mok Bai Tong - their house special steamed mixed seafood with house made red curry, served in banana leaves cups Pad Thai Kung Mar Nam - pad Thai served with two grilled jumbo prawns Mango sticky rice Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Hor Mok Bai Tong. This was something different that I haven't tried at any other Thai restaurant. Overall, food and service were great. Will definitely come back again to try other items on their house specials.

Yelp
First time trying this hidden gem. Quite a few new unique Thai dishes from traditional ingredients with modern twist. Very impressed by the beef's quality and green curry source flavor! The presentation of the lime chicken was cute and tasty too~ the servers were very nice and friendly. Will come back to try more dishes

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for a great Thai restaurant in the city, and this one is now up there. I came with a group of friends, and we did family style so we could enjoy a couple of options and I'm glad we did!! The food here is so tasty and some of the appetizers are pretty unique. The service is also very fast and kind! We ordered the tom yum soup, gai minow, pad ke mao and green curry. All the food we got we had with tofu except for the gai minow which is chicken. I've never had anything like the gai minow before, but it was pretty tasty. In some ways, kind of reminded me of an elevated chicken nugget. The tom yum soup was very fragrant with lemongrass and the green curry was nice and spicy! My favorite dish for sure was the pad kemao. It had amazing flavor and tons of veggies. I would order this to eat on my own as well! Overall, great Thai restaurant in the Richmond district!! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Such a nice dinner spot! Favorite dish was the Sukho Thai Noodle - broth was so flavorful. Mango sticky rice was delicious - rice texture was chewy and on-point. Service was amazing! Super attentive and sweet people. Very accommodating. Restaurant was very well-kept, clean, and aesthetic ambiance. Loved the vibes.

Yelp
The menu had so many delicious sounding options, need to go back to try. The curry was delicious, very classic thai curry (spicier than I had expected) The sukho thai noodle also came heavily recommended, I personally don't like coconut + lime flavor combination in soups, but all the other fixins was delicious.

Yelp
Another fabulous meal and experience. My wife and I enjoyed another memorable Mother's Day dinner. As delicious as the food is, the warm and caring service from the entire staff is noteworthy. Nacha and Johnny (owner) were especially friendly and attentive. From our water glasses being constantly filled to changing our plates to checking in on our meal with beautiful smiles, the service is tops. We ordered and loved the crispy eggplant appetizer, Tamarind Prawns, Crispy Pork Belly with Basil, and their spectacular steamed mixed seafood cups with coconut curry, and ice-cold dark lager Lao beer. They were so thoughtful and brought us a complimentary dessert with candle on it for my wife in recognition of Mother's Day. This is one of the very top Thai restaurants in SF. Go and support this awesome team.

Yelp
My friend and I were craving thai but wanted to try a new restaurant in the city. I was recommended by a different friend and decided to give this place a try. We decided to give three dishes a try. Sukho Noodle Soup: 5/5, would definitely come back just for this dish. The broth was so flavorful; tangy, sweet, spicy, umami with plentiful protein ranging from pork belly to charsiu, to ?beef/pork balls. Curry puffs: 4.5/5. Good appetizer, crunchy with good curry flavor. Nothing crazy in regards to new creativity. If I could, i'd try some of the other appetizers they have to offer. Have heard great things about the eggplant. Spicy ribs: 4/5, fell a bit short in my book. The ribs were still tasty, however there were too many flavors imo that didn't quite compliment each other. We also tried a few beers, the lager lao and dark lager lao. Both were great! Service was great. Staff was friendly. Ambiance was nice with detailed attention to cleanliness.

Yelp
What a pleasant dinner on a quiet Wednesday night. Given, the parking was quite challenging, enjoyed dining at this Thai restaurant. Roomy establishment that's bright inside. Not your typical Thai restaurant as their menu was definitely different from the usual. Don't fret, they do have the usual curries and noodles bit they have dishes that you don't see at your usual Thai restaurants. Gai Manow - pleasantly surpried, you'd imagine eating chicken katsu but the texture was different and that lemon sauce was just yummm Hoi Jor - If you enjoy Kikiam's, this is for you! Fried crab rolled in tofu skin! 100% KUNG CHOM JUN - texture was a little off, the sauce was the star! KUNG MAKAM - visually pleasing but i wasn't a big fan. The jumbo prawn was overcooked and it honestly tasted old. Tamarind flavor could have been stronger. We also ordered crab fried rice, pad kee mao, tom kha and all the desserts. Food was 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5

Yelp
It was busy on a Satirday night at 8:00 pm. We ordered the Pad Kemao (noodles) with chicken, Nuer Marakot (ribeye steak), Jasmine white rice and Thai ice tea. The wait was a little long to put in our food order because it was a full house. I felt like they refilled my water twice before the waiter came back to take our order. Our food was pretty spicy for me. My mouth is still a little burning from the noodles and steak. There was this round seedy thing in the steak. The guy said it was a Thai eggplant. Never seen it before. It was ok but not my cup of tea. The noodles were less spicy than the beef. Aside from the spicy level, which ofcourse is a personal preference, the food is flavorful. I would eat it again, just give me a large cup of water. Or leave the pitcher with me.

Yelp
Oraan is a cute, quiet Thai restaurant with nice decor, a good ambiance for a date. The dishes are not your typical Thai dishes. They take care to add flourishes to their presentation of the dishes, like laying down banana leaves. I've been for dinner and lunch and it hasn't been too busy. All of the dishes are very flavorful, the Gai Manow is a must! Dishes: Gai manow - well-fried chicken patty, doesn't seem Thai but it's my favorite dish here. Crispy Chinese broccoli was really interesting, like fried basil. Kor Moo Tod (Pork shoulder) - really good crispy strips of pork shoulder, comes with lemony fish sauce and sticky rice. Pork noodle soup - had multiple types of pork - crispy pork belly, cha siu, ground pork, and meatballs. The cha siu was really tender. I would eat this first, as the noodles got soft. The broth is a tangy tamarind flavor. Crispy pork belly - had really nice crispy pieces. Sauce was similar to the flavor of a basil chicken. Pad Thai with river prawns - shrimp a little mushy. Portion is pretty big. Steamed seafood in banana leaf - shrimp, squid, fish balls in red curry sauce. Should order a rice to go with this. Thai tea - dark orange and strong

Yelp
came around 7pm on a Monday, it was not busy at all (we were the only ones for a while), but food took a surprising while to come out (not unbearably long though). the staff were so friendly, they recommended 3 things which we got. the gai manow was really interesting and its textures were perfect. the fried batter was so crispy but the chicken inside was incredibly moist and juicy. the lemon cream and crispy broccoli elevated the appetizer further and left us very excited for more. the sukho thai noodle soup met that expectation with pork served 4 or 5 different ways on a bed of soft rice noodles and a complex coconut lime broth. I loved the spices in the soup, and the crispy pork belly was my favorite. we didn't love the nuer marakot (beef) because of how fatty it was, but if you like that you would love it. the papaya salad and curry sauce served with it was delicious. the mango sticky rice was probably the least special--the rice could be softer and warmer, and the mango could be riper. but overall, I love the creative menu here and the cozy ambiance, and would come back!

Yelp
Loved everything we ordered! Papaya salad 5/5 - had a nice spicy kick, love that they gave plenty of cabbage and not just papaya and shredded carrots. Fried eggplant 5/5 - favorite dish that we ordered. Perfectly crispy and not soggy on the inside. Super unique, they took a whole eggplant and sliced it. Curry cups 5/5 - unique, comes in 3 cups. Seafood was good, curry was flavorful. There was one item that we couldn't figure out what it was and had to ask -- it was young coconut! Pork ribs 5/5 - meat was tender, very flavorful. My friend didn't like it too much due to the herb taste, but I liked it a lot because it added a depth to the flavor. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
My friend and I dined at Oraan for a second time recently and we can confirm that they make THE BEST Pad Thai in San Francisco. A bold statement, we know. The Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam ($22.95) easily serves 2-3 people. A heaping portion of noodles that are packed with flavor and topped with two tender giant river prawns. Another delicious dish we ordered both times was the Makuer Tod ($13.95), a flower-like sliced crispy fried eggplant. Quality was consistent between the two visits. One dish that fell short was the Ka-nom Jean, a mix-it-yourself dish of rice noodles, chicken curry paste, boiled egg, and veggies. Unfortunately the chicken curry paste tasted nothing of chicken and it had an overwhelming medicinal-tasting ingredient that overpowered the dish making it unpalatable. Everyone should honestly come just to try their Pad Thai!

Yelp
I came across Oraan Thai on Yelp and knew I had to try this spot looking at the pictures. I suggested to go with a group of friends one night and we all loved it. We actually did not do family style because a majority of us wanted the Sukho Noodle Soup as our own meal - including me. I enjoyed the noodle soup. It had great flavor and lots of meat. I ordered medium spicy and found it to not really be that spicy though. I had a Thai Iced coffee, which was pretty good and standard. We also ordered the Gai Manow and Fried Eggplant as appetizers to share. I wasn't too sure if I would like the lemon sauce on the Gai Manow, but it was actually pretty good. The sauce wasn't too heavy on the lemon. The chicken was crispy on the outside and very juicy inside. I loved the Fried Eggplant also. It was one whole eggplant cut, fried, while still intact by the stem. It was great presentation and delicious. I tried a bite of my friend's Nuer Marakot and was jealous that I didn't order it. Perfectly cooked ribeye with a tangy spicy green curry sauce. I definitely will come back to order that myself next time. Ambiance was great. The restaurant is pretty dim which is good for dates. Service was also good. I would definitely recommend this if someone wants good Thai food.

Yelp
Decided to try this Thai restaurant that is located where Mescolanza used to be. They have been opened a few months already and I have to say, the service was exceptional. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. Thai food is one of our favorite cuisines, so we are definitely comparing them to our other favorites in the area and the City. While some dishes were pretty good, we felt that some were very lackluster. Also because the price point of this restaurant is a few dollars signs above the average Thai restaurant, so we are definitely looking to see if this is "worth it". We got the Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam (Pad Thai with River Prawns). This dish looks impressive and tasted pretty good. Essentially you are eating mostly pad thai because the river prawn doesn't have much meat, and with two people and two prawns, we each got one. The pad thai itself is a little too sweet according to my husband, but I didn't mind it as much as it also balance with the sour taste that comes from the tamarind. We also got the Khao Mun Gai (Thai version of Hainanese Chicken Rice). While presented beautifully in a big tray lined with a banana leaf, comes with a chicken broth, garlic ginger rice (yummy), cucumber, and a soybean paste sauce, it was very underwhelming. The chicken itself was dry, feels overcooked. The soup tasted very "cup of noodle"ish according to my husband. I avoid it because I don't want the salty broth. The sauce itself is okay but nothing spectacular. Most disappointing is that there was no minced ginger sauce. Sorry to say but you can get better Khao Mun Gai at Rooster and Rice on Stanyan. The cucumber salad was good and refreshing. The Thai iced tea was okay. Seems a bit watered down but okay. So while we like the beautiful restaurant and the good service, the food is not impressive. Maybe we ordered wrong and or it was an off night. Maybe we will try again in a few months. Located on Geary Blvd and 2nd Ave, across the street from San Francisco Toyota.

Yelp
The service was very professional, quick and polite. The food taste exquisite and was very ornate at the same time taking the extra steps to put flowers and other decorations in.Great stop on a walk about day.

Yelp
The Food was unique and very creative. It is definitely worth the effort. The taste is authentic. The ingredients were fresh and well balanced. The spices and seasonings were not overpowering. The service from Pam was amazing. Very nice and informative. The place is clean and I felt very at home. The restaurant is very accessible to the Geary line. I will be back next week to try more things. I recommend going here for an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
We got an appetizer which was curry filled fried dumpling. Super filling, crispy and tasty. The Tom Kha soup was one of the best Tom Khas I've ever had and they did not skimp on any ingredients. Tons of meat and mushrooms. The pork shoulder was fried and the sauce was so good. It also came with sticky rice which I didn't need but is nice filler. Would've liked bigger pieces of lettuces to wrap the meat. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant with modern decor. Staff was very friendly and patient with us as we ordered food. Food was fresh and hot. My chicken was super crispy. I never had pineapple soda before and was pleasantly surprised with how sweet and flavorful it was. Forsure would come again!

Yelp
My brother was craving Thai for a casual birthday dinner so I made a reservation here. The restaurant itself was cozy and quaint located right on Geary in inner sunset. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a tree and festive lights everywhere. The service was so kind and accommodating and not to mention extremely fast. The menu had items I had never seen tried before- I really recommend the Gai Manow. The chicken was fresh and crispy and the sauce was so creamy and was complimented by the lime so perfectly. The Tom yum soup was exactly what we needed on a cold night. Excited to come back again.

Yelp
tldr awesome thai spot serving up unique thai dishes with big portions, beautiful ambiance and friendly service! this place was really solid! friends and i ordered 4 dishes including the laab gai, pad thai, fried rice, and gai manow...somehow we ended up ordering all chicken dishes. laab gai (2.5/5) perhaps a personal preference but i think pork is a better protein for laab as the chicken can get a bit dry texturally - flavors were citrus forward with a hint of sweetness which were decent but overall dish lacked herbs and would have benefited with more mint, green onions etc the cabbage was a good crunch pad thai (4/5) wow the portion was huge on this and flavors were decently balanced between the sweet, sour, and savory notes. there was ample bean sprouts, green onions, tofu, eggs which gave the dish a good bite and the chicken was really tender! thai fried rice (4/5) this was a really solid rice dish with a good bite in the rice (not too soft or hard), ample ingredients and chicken was tender like the pad thai! it was a great way to balance out the bold flavors of the other dishes. they also give you a fish sauce based dip for the chicken which was interesting but i don't really think was needed gai manow (4.5/5) this was my favorite dish of the night! i am a big sweet and savory girlie so this dish was up my alley. the dressing on the chicken is reminiscent of honey mayo walnut shrimp sauce and the lime slice adds a kick. chicken pancake is literally fried to perfection - the crunch and juiciness is incredible. the chinese broccoli was surprisingly amazing - fried and light it was the perfect accompaniment. overall this dish was really creative and while a bit too sweet, it was an amazing bite! service was great with the servers checking on us and the interior is quite modern. I appreciated that the seating was comfortable. making a resy is easy on google! overall i'll be back! prices are reasonable for the portion you get here and flavors/textures are great for sf. food (4/5) ambiance (5/5) service (4/5) value (4/5)

Yelp
Oraan Thai is probably one of my new favorite Thai restaurants! The restaurant is simple, modern, and very spacious; I appreciate not being so close to neighboring tables. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable with the menu, and quick with food/drink service. Menu options are extensive (2 pages) but not overwhelming, and everything we've tried has been on point with flavor and presentation.   MAKUER TOD: crispy eggplant with dipping sauce ($13.95) | 5* The eggplant was tender and cooked well, and the batter was so light and crispy, not overly oily/greasy. The dish was beautifully presented with micro greens and floral petals. Best shared between 2-3 people.   CURRY PUFFS: pies filled with chicken, potato, carrot ($15.95) | 4* You can't go wrong with deep fried puffs. These had a generous amount of delicious filling encased in a light and crispy shell with a thick and creamy curry sauce for dipping. The side of cucumber relish added some crunch and sweetness.   TOM YUM SOUP: hot & sour soup with mushroom, lemongrass, galangal, onion, cilantro, kaffir lime leaves ($16.95) | 4* Spicy and sour flavors are pronounced in Oraan's Tom Yum soup. The ratio of vegetables to soup is just right, plenty of vegetables to the point where I'm not searching for them in the sea of soup.   KAPOW MOO KROB: crispy pork belly in spicy basil sauce, bell pepper, Thai chili, garlic ($19.95) | 5* This dish is so flavorful with the extra crispy pork belly skin and crunchy fresh bell peppers. There's plenty of basil flavor and chili for a kick. Note this dish doesn't come with a side of rice.   SUKHO THAI NOODLE: rice noodle topped with ground pork, roasted pork, crispy pork, green bean, peanuts, chili in lime-fish sauce ($18.95) | 5* This dish is sour, spicy, and very rich in flavor. The sauce/broth is pretty thick and over time the noodles absorb it all. There's several types of meat in this dish, so it gets relatively filling.   KA-NOM JEAN: rice noodle, vegetables, boiled egg with chicken curry paste ($18.95) | 3* If you're looking for a simpler dish that's not too rich/heavy, this is a good option. There's plenty of vegetables and noodles, and the way this dish is presented, you can adjust the amount of chicken curry paste to use. Overall Oraan has been wonderful with their food quality and service. There's several items on their menu that you don't see at the typical Thai restaurants in SF. I highly recommend Oraan and see myself returning frequently!

Yelp
this thai restaurant is on par and standard with other good ones! my friend and i decided to try this spot for an early lunch and it did not disappoint. it was not busy so we were seated right away. the service was great, the lady was so kind, offering assistance and checked up on us. the place was decorated for holidays, so cute and modern. we both checked in with yelp, giving us a free choice of thai tea or thai iced coffee! it was so rich and flavorful, 9.6/10. we ordered the pad see ew & pad thai with jumbo prawn. both orders came quick and the portion size is pretty big. the pad thai came with 2 prawns. both dishes were good. the pad see ew was a little on the blander side compared to other ones i've had. the pad thai was just the right amount, not too overwhelming. overall very nice restaurant.

Yelp
Cute Thai place in the Richmond! My friends and I came here late on a Sunday and they sat us immediately. The servers were attentive and nice! I also really enjoyed their cutlery. We ordered: - Pad Thai (3/5) the noodles were too al dente for us and the sauce was really salty; we had to take it to go - Kapow Moo Krob (2/5) I was most disappointed with this one because the sauce was good but the meat was too rough - Gai Yang Oraan (4/5) unique sweet flavor with the sauce and tender chicken; this was a new menu item and they did well with it! Overall, it was ok!

Yelp
First time. We made reservations. Service staff were friendly and accommodating. We sat down at a table that is in the middle of the restaurant and requested to be reseated and our needs were met. Ambiance is casual. The food wait was not long. Presentation is definitely above normal. Everything was tasty and enjoyable.

Yelp
It's worth trying. I don't think there was one item that I didn't like. Oh, and the mango rice? The rice is not mushy and sticky. It's almost like regular cooked rice with the condensed milk poured on top. It's actually quite nice. A nice change for the normal texture of the sticky rice. Notice I said mango rice, not mango sticky rice.......

Yelp
Came here for the first time with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable interior and delicious food. Service was great, waiters were very attentive. Would definitely come again! Gai manow - 5/5, beautifully fried chicken topped with a delicious creamy sauce. Chicken is super tender, juicy, and crispy. Sauce is kind of sweet and pairs well. So good I would come back just for this! Sukho thai noodle - 5/5, soup noodle topped with lots of meat and decent amount of noodles. I absolutely love the soup-- it's sour and packed with flavor. Som tum - 4.5/5, papaya salad. Dressing is delightfully sweet and sour. Lots of papaya and tomatoes; everything goes hand in hand. Probably one of the best papaya salads I've had. Beef pad seew - 3.5/5, a decent pad seew. It was good to try, but I would skip and try the other dishes. Kor moo tod - 3.5/5, crunchy and flavorful pork shoulder paired with veggies and a light chili sauce. It was alright.

Yelp
This is one of the new Thai restaurant in Richmond area. They have a lots of dishes that are normally not on the menu in other Thai restaurants. The restaurant is nice and clean. Also the service really attentive. They also recognize us because we went there a few times. Let's talk about food. Since we went there a few times so we got to try many dishes. One of the best dish here for me is the fruit salad, it's such a nice flavor. Sweet and sour. Tangy and can't stop eating this dish. The lime chicken is another of my favorite dish because of the fried chicken is so tender and crispy and the sauce so perfectly goes well together. Pad Thai with river prawns was so juicy and flavorful Papaya salad also one of my favorite dishe too Tamarind prawns is another flavorful dish Kanom Jean is good but in the end is so heavy and creamy for me and it's getting too sweet. Sukothai noodle is really good also , crispy pork is so crunchy and the flavor so good but I wish they were more broth that I could slurp it at the end. This restaurant has such a unique dishes. I recommend it to come with more people that you could enjoy more. But the price point is a little higher than other Thai restaurants. But instead you could try new Thai dishes.

Yelp
We wanted to give this new spot a try, but dang, everything was quite salty. I wanted the som tum pla raa because my grandpa makes really good cured raw crab, but this one was just so salty. I'm Japanese there is a phrase shiokarai - it was so salty that it is spicy and that's how I would describe that dish. The papaya salad part of the som tum pla raa was somewhat salvageable if you snaked the sauce off. The entree that we ordered which I think might be kor moo tod was also really salty. It's a shame because it's a cute store with kind staff! Don't think I will be coming back here but maybe it's your cup of tea if you like things salty.

Yelp
Oraan just opened up last September, but they blew me away with really beautiful presentation, fresh food with big flavors, and a very aesthetic interior! The place looks immaculate, and the prices are super reasonable given the portion sizes. We ordered the thai tea, fried eggplant appetizer, papaya salad, and pad thai with shrimp to share amongst 2, and definitely had leftovers. I honestly loved everything and appreciated the attention to detail with the presentation too! Will definitely be coming back again :)

Yelp
Oraan Thai is a modern restaurant offering a creative take on Thai dishes with bold flavors! My favorite (and the most unusual) dish on the menu was the Gai Manow, a round, flat patty made of minced chicken coated and fried in a crispy panko batter, topped with a lemon cream sauce, and surrounded by crispy Chinese broccoli. This was unlike any other Thai dish I've had before and reminded me almost of Japanese Yoshoku ("Western food"), and the perfectly crispy chicken paired nicely with the lemon cream sauce. For our mains, the Moo Pik Kang were stewed pork ribs sautéed in an explosively spicy, aromatic red chili paste, mixed with coconut milk, bell peppers, fresh peppercorns, basil, and kaffir lime leaves. The Nuer Marakot was a juicy, sliced medium steak, topped with green curry and served over a mixture of bamboo, Thai eggplant, and carrots. Finally, the Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam was a generous portion of sweet, sour, and savory stir-fried rice noodles with egg, tofu, chives, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts, served with two huge split and grilled river prawns. Though the noodles were chewy and undercooked, the prawns had a perfectly crispy texture and seafoody flavor, and the best part was (of course) the head! Overall, the food at this neighborhood spot was delicious and on point, the service was friendly, and the value and portion sizes were generous too!

Yelp
A small place with some great thai food! I came here with a few friends and we ended up coming here seeing how aesthetically pleasing the dishes came to look. This place definitely has that modern, simplistic look to it, and I thoroughly enjoyed how many things and unique options they had on the menu. We ended up ordering a couple things, but we got the Gai Manow, Pad See Ew, Sukho Thai Noodle, and the Hor Mok Bai Tong. Overall, the real stars of the show for me were definitely the Hor Mok Bai Tong, and the Sukho Thai Noodle dishes. What's interesting about this restaurant is their Gai Manow. It's this battered deep-fried marinaded chicken with this lemon cream sauce and broccolini. Instantly, it reminded me of something nostalgic and the first thing I thought of was a chicken nugget from Mcdonalds, in a good way! It has that crunch and soft texture of the nugget which I thought was pretty good. I liked the lemon-y cream addition as well. I think it was a little too creamy for my liking but it's okay. Presentation was unique and definitely pleasing. The Hor Mok Bai Tong, is like this coconut limey, seafood dish wrapped in a banana leaf cup. It's very beautiful and for sure this was a 10/10. I highly recommend getting this because it was seasoned beautifully and I loved mixing the rice in the sauce as it gave it that extra oomph of coconut flavor. I wish I had more cream sauce cause this was amazing. The Sukho Thai Noodle was really good. The soup was flavored very well, and the addition of ground pork, roasted pork, and crispy pork is a treat. The lime-fish sauce was very tasty and the balance of flavor profiles were great. The Pad Seew was alright. It didn't have that char to it and it personally lacked that savory soy flavor I'm looking for. But this dish is a normal staple thai dish anyone would get. The hits definitely outweighed the lows for me and I actually highly recommend giving this place a shot!

Yelp
Probably my favorite Thai spot in the Richmond, maybe in the city. The decor is really nice which makes it a great option for dining in. They have a big dining room so I imagine can accommodate large parties pretty well. The food is so fresh and flavorful, I particularly liked the crab cakes the fruit salad. The service is fantastic, they are so friendly, attentive and helpful.

Yelp
Probably one of my new fav Thai restaurants in San Francisco. Such amazing dishes and so worth the price. Service was fast but did get busy towards peak dinner time even on a weekday so best to make reservations online first. There was not a single dish that we ordered that we didn't like. Highly recommend

Yelp
Came here for lunch with the hubby and my parents on a Saturday lunch. We had a reservation, and saw that walk-ins were possible as well. Street parking was not difficult to find when we went. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and wait staff was friendly. It's good to see dishes that are different from your everyday Thai restaurants. The food is good here, and many presented prettily. The dishes all have strong flavors, which suited my parents well especially; some were a bit over-seasoned for my liking, but that's certainly subjective. Of everything we ordered, Gai Manow was a favorite, it's a bit like tender lemon chicken!

Yelp
I first found this place while taking a walk around Geary. The restaurant looked very clean, modern, and somewhat fancy, and the menu options and reviews looked pretty promising. I finally got around to give it a try on a random Sunday for lunch, luckily there was no wait nor reservation required. We got 2 appetizers and a main dish to share for 3 people - Tod mun pla: These big and meaty fish cakes came with a side of sweet dipping sauce. They were pretty good and very good to share - Gai manow: the fried chicken cutlet was super tender and juicy on the inside, while crispy on the outside. The sweet lemon sauce really complemented the fried chicken, and the crispy Chinese broccoli were also very interesting in both taste and texture - Moo pik Kang: these sauteed stewed pork ribs were tender and tasty with the savory chili paste. However, despite their impressive presentation, I felt like the ribs could be better if they had some crispy toppings for additional texture (luckily I had the Gai manow on the side) Overall I enjoyed my lunch at Oraan, and I highly highly recommend the Gai manow as a must get here. I would definitely come back to try some of the other entrees, such as the Hor mun bai.

Yelp
Cozy aesthetic. I liked the cool tones of the walls, muted green, gold, and blush pink. The seats are comfortable with thick cushions on the wooden chairs. I think the food is excellent as was the service. Our server was attentive with the water even when she had several other tables she was assisting. Should definitely visit again. Appetizer Kung Chom Jun Shrimp and quail egg Green sauce is spicy. Compliments well with the savory egg and shrimp. The spice is bright in my mouth but not painful. I used a small spoonful of drops. I wasn't sure of how to eat it but I used the spoon provided at the table at the start of the meal and was successful. Hor Mok Bai Tong Steamed mixed seafood in red curry and banana leaf cups. The dish contains shrimp, fish balls, squid, among other seafood. Delicious in the spicy sauce. The presentation is delightful. Perfect for sharing in the individual cups! The dish doesn't come with rice but I suggest ordering some for $3 more. Curry calls for rice. Butterfly Pea Strawberry Lemonade Pulpy initially but refreshing. Great addition to the meal and helpful with the slight spice of the food.

Yelp
Me: "Is it spicy?" Kind server: "You want it spicy?" Me: "Yes, please." *On my third glass of water* Kind server *concerned look*: "Is it too spicy?" Me: "Nope, it's PERFECT!".... I say this, as I'm doing nose kegels to keep my snot from running down my face. I may look like I'm hurting but I love when places like Oraan give you legit "spicy" when you ask for "spicy". Opening in September 2023, Oraan Thai Eatery took over Mescolanza (Italian resto). They're open for takeout, delivery, and indoor dining. No outdoor seating. Rezzies available on OpenTable. I've been wanting to visit Oraan and finally had the opportunity to when I had a medical appointment nearby. M E N U Thai cuisine with a modern twist. Same lunch & dinner menu. Not your basic Thai menu. Oraan has some harder to find items; i.e. Hor Mok, a seafood custard/mousse steamed in banana leave and Gai Manow, fried chicken with a lemon cream sauce. Beer & wine available. F O O D * Moo Pik Kang: Sautéed Stewed Pork Ribs w/ chili paste, coconut milk, basil & kaffir lime leaves ($23.95): http://tinyurl.com/4sws4pf4 --Requested spicy Six meaty ribs smothered in a rich, bold, and flavorful sauce that's fragrant, piquant, and citrusy. Reliant on spices + herbs, not salt - it's a spicy flavor bomb yet well-balanced with the coconut milk mellowing some of the heat. Nice crunch from the bell peppers and young green peppercorns (looks like mini grapes on a vine). The green peppercorns really pack a punch! To be nitpicky, some ribs were more tender than others, but they all easily pulled off the bone. * Rice ($3.50) Served in a bamboo box, the sticky rice was the perfect accompaniment to the intensely flavored ribs. S E R V I C E Warm, gracious Thai hospitality. Prompt food service (early lunch). A M B I A N C E Casual and homey, low-key elegance with gold accent mirrors, gold woven lighting fixtures, and greenery. There's two separate dining areas. Suggestion: Kindly consider moving the coat/purse hook in the bathroom lower. I'm 5'3 and couldn't reach it on my tippy toes. P A R K I N G Street parking only which may be challenging during peak hours. But def more doable than on Clement. Overall, Oraan is serving up delicious, boldy-spiced Thai food and unique items which sets them apart from other Thai restos in the city. Even if you're from other parts of the city, it's worth the trek to Inner Richmond!

Yelp
Pleasant discovery walking along on Geary Blvd. Amazing lunch of seafood Hor Mok and sticky rice mango. Yummy!!!
