Being too far from the establishment once I got my WiFi on, I couldn't check in. However, I added as many unforgettable photos as possible!! And this was an experience I will never forget!!!
My cousin made a reservation in advance because they are usually always solidly booked. We were seated with an amazing view of the Taipei 101 and other sudoku sing buildings including the Taipei Trade Center. And the menu was simple with many options and descriptions in Mandarin, Japanese, and English. Their beverages included cocktails, mock tails, beers, wines, sodas, juices, and teas.
My cousin had the tomato starter and I had a salad.both arrived promptly and were delicious. A mountain of vegetables followed and the server, Tommy Wu, put everything in for us while chatting about Orange Shabu. We ate slowly as our beef, lamb, and cow tongue platters arrived. He cooked my noodles quickly and mixed in a sauce with an egg. Everything tasted and looked divine!! They usually make a congee with the soup left over for the diners to enjoy if they want to, but we had an ulterior goal.
I'd thought my cousin's excitement about the dessert was overly hyped but I was wrong. The highlight of this meal, and of my trip thus far, was the almond tofu dessert. Upon arrival, it looks the normal almond tofu in the sweet liquid with peach slices. But when I tried to pick it up, it slithered out of my spoon. Curious, I tried again and before it could escape again, I slurped it into my mouth.
This white and soft almond tofu had the consistence of mochi, one of the best and most complex to understand consistencies in the world! It looked like most almond tofu but didn't not act like it!! My mind was blown and this experience landed them 5 solid stars in my book.
(There is no restrooms inside but on the floor, by the elevators. Not too sure about parking but plenty of taxis and metro stations close by!) WOW!!!
