The 20 Best Pizzas in Houston

"Head to this Northside pizza joint, and you might spot chef Andreas Dal Monte hard at work, placing his homemade oblong-shaped, Roma-style pizzas into the fire. Made with a tender dough that has a maturation process of at least 48 hours, these pies are garnished with some of the freshest ingredients. Try its satisfying margherita, the sausage and potato, or amatriciana pizzas, but be warned — this pizza is quite coveted. Open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 10:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, ORG sells all its food until sellout, so be sure to get there early before a line forms. You can always treat yourself to one of the pastries and coffee drinks while you wait, or if in a rush, take a frozen pizza or focaccia to-go to bake at home." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

24 Excellent Houston Pizzerias

"Head to this Northside pizza joint in season and you’ll likely see its chef, Andreas Dal Monte, hard at work, placing his homemade oblong-shaped, Roma-style pizzas into the fire. The pies — made with a tender and crispy dough that has a maturation process of at least 48 hours — are quite coveted, with Dal Monte using the freshest of ingredients to concoct satisfying margherita, sausage and potato, and amatriciana pizzas. But be warned — this pizza is quite coveted. Now with additional hours from Wednesday through Sunday, ORG gets busy and serves until sellout, so be sure to get there early before a line forms. You can always treat yourself to one of the pastries and coffee drinks while you wait, or if in a rush, take a frozen pizza or focaccia to go to bake at home." - Brittany Britto Garley

Phenomenal Roman style pizza and outrageously good brioche pastries! Staff were so friendly and genuinely love serving their customers. Also, the place was spotless. The burrata pizza was so unique and perfect summer style. The pie with onion and guanchale was amazing too! Get in on this amazing pizza!

Google
Authentic Roman bakery that opens on Sundays for pizza and paninis. The star of the show was the Prosciutto panini with burrata, arugula and fig compote…sorry no pic, too yummy! Grazie Andrea Dal Monte for the food and tour!

Craving the crusty, cheesy bliss of Rome’s pizzerias or the warm, doughy hugs of its bakeries? Or just need a spot to worship artisan pizzas and breads that’ll make your taste buds sing opera? Head to Org as your new dough-mance awaits! Tucked into a bread production space, a Roman baker crafts a cornucopia of breads including focaccia, ciabatta, and brioche. When he’s not shaping loaves, he’s firing up pizzas that hit all the right spots. Do yourself a a favor and check this hidden gem.

What a gem this place is! If you would like to taste authentic, creative, fresh pizza this place needs to be on your radar. The kind of food that you can taste that the maker has both skill and passion in its creation. This is absolutely some of the best pizza we have ever had, in Houston, or anywhere else. We ordered a bruschetta style, a bacon mushroom, & brie, and cacio e pepe with orange all on slow overnight dough crusts. Before today, orange (marmalade, I think) on pizza would have probably fallen in a never would I ever category. I was wrong! It was absolutely phenomenal. My mouth is watering as I remember the taste while writing this. The service was friendly & informative. The place is very small with limited indoor seating & some outdoor seating but I would be happy to take this pizza to go & eat it in my car if I had to. It is THAT good. The menu changes and I cannot wait to go back and try whatever this Roman pizza genius creates. Thank you for bringing this heavenly food to Houston!

Google
5/5. Definitely recommend: Probably my top 3 favorite pizza places in the Houston area. Service: fast, friendly, and personal. Food: tasted really good, quality ingredients, made-to-order, not greasy ( don't feel bad after eating it like with other pizza ). Ambiance: cool outside area, but a bit out of the way. Definitely a hidden gem. The pizzamaker is a man from Rome, Italy and seems passionate for baking bread and making Roman style pizza. Also a local business, which is cool.

Google
Hands down some of the best pizza in Houston! The pizza came out hot, and the ingredients were fresh and high quality. We also greatly enjoyed the not too sweet cinnamon roll. The owner, Andrea, and his staff were incredibly welcoming. We will be back very soon.

Google
The food here is delicious! Very fresh pizza dough and delicious brick oven Italian lunch. The price is more for the experience to have authentic Rome Street food. The menu changes and it's nice that everything is so fresh. Love the frozen items. The bread and calazones are great prices and I'd come just to get more. It's a small place and not much space. Not good for hot summer day if busy.

Google
Incredible pizza and Italian pastries. The inside was nice and intimate. The pizza dough was some of the best I've ever had. Roman style pizza from the Roman chef himself, Chef Andrea. The Italian coffee was delicious as well, I'll be coming back again and again. Amazing little gem, highly recommend.

Yelp
Such good pizza!!! The tomato sauce is fantastic, the cheese and the crust are perfection. The owner makes a fantastic dough for the pizza and paninis. The crunch of the dough is perfect. The pizzas are perfect for one person but small enough that you can order a couple to try different ones. I just wish there were more hours!

Yelp
Just stopped in on a whim and really enjoyed the pizza and the atmosphere! The pizza ingredients tasted great and the dough was perfect. Will definitely be coming back when we get a chance!

Yelp
Could this be the best pizza in Houston? I am beginning to think so. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Although his focaccia are available at Spec's, frozen, to bake at home at 450 F for 6 minutes, on Sundays, Chef Andrea prepares these exquisite Roman style pizzas from 9-2 at this location on Yale at Tidwell. And they are spectacular. Being a food geek, and loving the whole culinary anthropology thing, I've been lucky to have some amazing conversations with Chef Andrea about pizza. So much knowledge on its culinary history. He wants to move pizza to where it is treated with respect, not as a throwaway quick something something, but as a serious example of haute cuisine. And I'm right there with him. Side note: You will see a bad review here from Rami M. Read it carefully, as he chose to give a bad review based on his waiting time. But if you read more, you will see that the staff bent over backwards to make it right for him, comping his meal and giving him some frozen pizzas to take home. They went out of their way to make it right.

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing! Super under the radar spot that a friend brought me to. I think it's a pop-up that is only Sunday afternoons outside of Aroma Pizza (which is a pizza manufacturer that supplies local groceries). My friend heard about it from one of her Italian friends, and in fact the place seems to have become a bit of an Italian ex-pat hangout. They do a Roman style pizza, which I don't think is a style that is very much represented in Houston. The dough/crust is delicious, and has a bit more of a focaccia like quality to it. One of the more uniquely amazing things on their menu is there "farciti". It's almost like a sandwich, where the dough is wrapped around the fillings (maybe like an open faced calzone or panzerotti?). Either way, do yourself a favor and order some of these when you come for pizza - they are bomb! They are definitely masters of flour and dough, and it shows. An added bonus is that this place is BYOB with no corkage fee! They even provide glasses for you. What's better on a warm summer day than drinking beer or chilled wine while eating delicious pizza? They have tarps covering the area to shield you from the unforgiving Texas sun to make the heat more bearable. The place is family owned, and they are the nicest people ever. Last time I was there, he was going around chatting in Italian with all his regular customers, who all seem to know each other by name. Can't wait to be back in Houston so I can make this place part of my regular rotation!

Yelp
Finally made it to ORG Pizza Garden and so glad we did! The burrata pizza was SO delicious. Maybe the best pizza in the city for me. I loved the fresh ingredients and the crust was wonderful, of course. I wasn't sure about seating and didn't want to sit outside. The indoor seating was great. The owner is so friendly and wanted to be sure everything was enjoyable. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Yelp
I don't typically feel compelled to write a review for any particular place, but Chef Andrea changed my mind. You can immediately tell when you talk with him that he carries a deep passion for his food and truly cares for every one of his customers. We got there early in the morning around 10, and we were their first customers for the day. Walking into the gate, we were met by the sweetest waitress ever. She took the time to really make sure we were taken care of, even though she was the only server. Whether if it was explaining the menu to us or just simply checking up on us, she got the job done. One of the kindest services that you will see. While we were waiting on our food, Andrea (the owner) came over to our table and thanked us for stopping by. He explained how tough it has been ever since one person left a bad review, which according to him, was not even true. I cannot believe how anyone would ever leave a bad review after getting to know how friendly Chef Andrea was. Even if it was true, I'm certain based on his personality alone that he would make things right. On top of such outstanding service, the food made everything even better. First off, I love the fact that all of their prices on the menu are very reasonable. With the help of the waitress, we got their two most popular pizzas: the Burrata and Matriciana. Both were amazing, especially the Burrata, which was our favorites. The arugula in combination with the creamy burrata cheese really enhanced the flavors. My personal favorite part were the pizza dough. By far one of the best I've had in Houston. The dough was baked incredibly well. Super airy, light, and crispy. We also got their coffees and maritozzos, both of which were good, but definitely pales in comparison to their pizzas. Our experience at ORG Pizza Garden was one of the best we've had in a while. It is probably in contention for one of the best pizzas I've had here in Houston. Even though this place is quite the trip for me, with how amazing everything was, I will for sure be making my way back here.

Yelp
The food here is wonderful. The Burrata pizza is light and fresh. The Panini is a bounty of flavor. One of the best little places for a Sunday lunch

Yelp
Good fresh made Roman pizza Very tasty individually made pizzas It's a small operation run by a friendly couple

Yelp
Excellent meal, nice people, quick service. I arrived ~11am with no wait and plenty of seating, inside and out. Had the burrata w/arugula pizza and the peach balsamic ice cream. I could eat only half of each and took the rest home for dinner. I've been reading about this Sunday-only place on a local foodies group, and my expectations were high. The real-life experience did not disappoint. The crust was perfect, the ingredients fresh. The ice cream was unexpected, and I liked it. Soft and creamy, not as fluffy as whipped cream, but it kinda strikes that chord. The peach taste was not super strong through the creamy taste, and yet it was really, really good. I had a 20-minute drive with leftovers, and I was afraid of the ice cream melting because of that soft texture, but it made it just fine. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors, and I'm going earlier next time to try to snag a berry maritozzi before they're sold out. Yes, this is a pop-up style place in a warehouse-type parking lot, but the outdoor picnic tables are shaded and there's a nice air-conditioned indoor seating area, too. It's not a glamorous set-up, but it's plenty comfy. Sunday mornings are made for this place. The "warehouse" is where they make the frozen pizzas sold via Spec's downtown and other places, the waitress told me when I asked. Gonna have to try those, too, for non-Sunday morning eating. Lol Can't wait for dinner leftovers. Literally... I've already snuck a few bites of each, so I'm not sure the leftovers will last until dinner. :-) I was so intent on eating, I neglected to take pics outside of the ice cream (after a couple of bites!) and the current menu. Oops.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! I had a tasty Burrata and Arugala pizzetta, and an excellent farciti, which was like a pizza-bread stuffed with prosciutto and brie with balsamic glaze. For dessert I had a delicious maritozzo, which was a light pastry sliced down the middle then smeared with cream and topped with nutella. Friendly service and true Roman cuisine.

Yelp
Beware of ORG Pizza Garden! Worst pizza experience I've ever had in Houston. I waited an hour and a half for my pizza only to be told that they hadn't even started making it yet, despite the fact that I checked on its status multiple times throughout the hour and a half wait. This place could be delicious but I wouldn't know because I never got to try it after waiting all that time. The owner tried to make it right by issuing a refund and giving me two frozen pizzas to-go. I think this place just blew up too quick for its own good. Food 0/10 (did not get to try it) Service 0/10 Experience 0/10

Yelp
Incredible pizza, sandwiches and service. A true hidden gem in Houston and authentic Romano pizza made by an actual Roman.

Yelp
GO EAT HERE. I had the special panini which was DELICIOUS, next time I'll ask for it in pizza form The dough is perfect. Too bad only open on Sunday.

Yelp
Delicious Roman style pizza cooked in an Italian oven. The panini is super yummy freshly baked dough stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella & arugula. Matritiana pizza is a rich tomato sauce with bacon, mozzarella and grated pecorino. They have hand made pastries & homemade ice cream which is rich & creamy. The pizza place is a pop up style serving delicious treats only on the weekends! You can also get espresso & cappuccino! Come for breakfast or lunch they are only open from 9-2pm.

Yelp
Heard about this place from a friend and knew we had to check it out. SO glad we did! The pepperoni and matriciana pizzas are amazing. Such delicious crust and toppings. The peach ice cream is to die for too. I've never had such smooth ice cream. Awesome food and great service- it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We will definitely be coming back frequently to work our way through the rest of the menu!

Brandy M.

Yelp
WOW! Just wow, I'm speechless. The food here is absolutely amazing. I haven't been this impressed by food in a while. My family and I are so happy we have found the Diamond of a restaurant/food truck. Maritozzo are heavenly, the procuittio panini is to die for. My husband and I got to share and to be honest next weekend we will not be sharing with each other at all. We can't wait for more Houstonians to find out of this place so he can open the doors daily! Chef Andrea is a breath of fresh air. I. Wished we had found this spot sooner!
