Terrible experience, rude staff mocking me, food was ALL old and looked leftover from day before. Beef very rubbery. Staff did not like me taking pics, much of the food looked older than this pic. WILL NOT RETURN. Felt sick shortly after leaving. Very small plates, smaller than normal at buffets. People that go here don't know good asian food evidently. I've been coming here for YEARS, used to be decent here, not anymore. Very crappy experience. Cashier was a smart ass too.

Food not good. Everything was cold, soy sauce was extremely salty, taste was kinda bland & not a big selection. Disappointed & won’t be back.

I always love to go here if I'm in this area. The sushi is fresh, the string beans are fresh and very delicious 😋 All of their food is very very good and fresh. The staff is very nice! If you like Chinese and looking for a small buffet with good food, go to the Oriental Pearl! I don't think you'll be disappointed... Enjoy!!!

Their food is terrific! However, one Sunday after service we went to eat and there was a cockroach on the wall over the buffet range where the chicken on the stick is served. The hostess ran with a napkin to remove the roach and I wondered if she even caught it. It makes me think if there are roaches coming out to the dining area, how are they throughout the rest of the restaurant? Everything aside, the food is delicious!

This place doesn't have a giant variety, but everything is delicious, and they have a very nice amount of sushi. This place also has the best crab Rangoon I have had in a long time. It is Probably in the top 3 Crab Rangoon I have had in my life. It is definitely the best I have had in the greater baton rouge area. This place also has a discount if you pay with cash instead of credit/debit card. *** This place also has a punch card, so after you fill your card, you get a complimentary buffet. *** The staff is very friendly. The food is always pretty fresh, and tastes great.

Very good food…. Some say the buffet is small and it is on the smaller size but it does have the most popular food selections. I would definitely come back 💜💛

We love oriental pearl! We go here at least once a month for the buffet. Everything is awesome, especially their sushi. The owners are fantastic and so kind. Best buffet in the city!

Had a little hiccup order doordash tonight, but as soon as the manager heard I’d had ankle surgery and couldn’t drive anywhere they did everything in their power to make sure I got my food and that I was taken care of! And the food is 10/10 Humans make mistakes, but it’s how you fix your mistake! And they sure did with understanding and grace! Remember it pays to stay kind and give people the benefit of the doubt, especially when it comes to food service! Everybody involved jumped to make sure I was satisfied!

Food is fantastic! They reduced the size of the to-go boxes because of inflation, but they still have a punch-card system, so you can earn a free meal! I didn't take pictures because to-go box pictures don't represent the food well, but trust me their food is delicious!

I LOVE THE FOOD AT ORIENTAL PEARL. I have been coming here for 10 years and I have never had a complaint about food or service. They provide large quantities of food for at least 2 or 3 servings. I especially love the salt and pepper shrimp and the green beans ( no sauce - stir fry).

We go here regularly. The food is awesome. Salty, so be aware if that's a health concern. But nummy. We usually get the dine in buffet, as that's more bang for your buck than the take out. Definitely give it a try!

Finally! Found my BR favorite for Chinese. The dinner buffet was $15 before tax.. all the food, the shrimp & meats, including sushi, was of higher quality and the sauces & recipes tasted distinct. I liked that everything didn't taste the same!! Didn't try desert bar, but had a vanilla cone. I haven't had a favorite Chinese restaurant in many years .. (prefer Thai & Vietnamese) and I've even been here a time or three MANY years ago, between 2000 & 2008 was probably the last time & it's obviously under new ownership & totally different layout & the food was so much better. Staff was really sweet too. They give you a punch card to get your 10th meal free. Next time I will try filling up a to-go box as I could eat at least 2 meals from it, now that I know my favorites.

I've only ordered through DoorDash, but I always get delicious food that's still hot. So far I've only ordered the same items each time I've ordered. The shrimp fried rice, fried chicken wings, and shrimp egg roll. They pack SO much rice and have decent sized shrimp.

The food was amazing. They had such great options for everyone including spicy. The place was well kept and clean. It really just looked like a hole in the wall. But honestly I think it's better. It has the atmosphere of a high end service restaurant and they were above and beyond making sure to grab our plates when we were done. They made sure everything was clean and friendly!

I have never had the buffet, but my friend seems to love it. I always order the egg foo yung. It's wonderful.

Pretty sure there were a few pieces of mold on some egg in my egg drop soup. It has to be sitting out for quite a while for that to happen too. I don't know how they managed that

I frequently go for the takeout buffet. The California type rolls are to die for. Owner allows takeout of 10 pieces, I believe. The chicken and vegetables are always soft and moist. Salty shrimp is yummy too. Egg drop soup w fried wonton chips, egg rolls , chicken on a stick, sweet and sour chicken/shrimp - I could go on and on. I love this Chinese restaurant, can ya tell? She and her sister have been in the business for a long time. They are so sweet. Gotta love them!

A very good variety on the buffet table and all was freshly prepared. Can't say much about the service since a buffet and you for the most part serve yourself. We had to ask for drink refills instead of being offered. Typical strip mall location with ok ambiance.

The food was amazing I got so much new flavors from the food even though I at it be for at a different place even though it a small place and small options it is still very good. Just wish they can have more options.

Don't eat here at 1:30. Buffet is almost empty and no intentions of refilling anything. I guess they are waiting for the dinner crowd.

my hubby has been coming here since he was a kid and the staff remembers him! They are so welcoming to kids as well. The staff and owner made sure to on my family and 3y/o with a smile! Literally, one of the more friendly buffets in the city. Service is always great here! Food: I mean for the price and offerings from this small buffet, the food is quite decent. Ambiance: very big restaurant, plenty of seating.

This place has better food on the buffet than Hunan but has no menu it's buffet at lunch or nothing unless you order takeout. Went for lunch today And some tasty and some of the stuff is too salty, but it's about the only Chinese buffet. And also include sushi.

1st EVER Oriental restaurant that had sushi the size of biscuits! Unbelievable! The buffet is just as amazing. Service is quite professional...wanting you to have the best experience in satisfying your appetite. You can bet this Texan will always stop here when in BR!

I was curious to try this place tlll I saw the horrible ratings they had from the health department. Not good!!

I visited the restaurant with my family for lunch. They chose the buffet, but I wanted to order from the menu. The server handed me a menu and never returned to take my order. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I reluctantly selected a couple of items from the buffet, where some of the food was cold. Horrible service! Will NOT be returning!

Great buffet experience. I mean the service was top notch. When you think of a good buffet, this place is all you can ask for. It's not the biggest selection of food, but it's a great mixture of food and it covers all the different parts of the food chain. I got to say, my belly is full and my heart is happy so if you want to bring your family here or if your feeling frisky and want to bring a girl here for a first date then it won't let you down!

The quality and selection was poor. The restaurant did not look or smell clean. I only stayed and ate because I was with a group of people I enjoy.

The food is always fresh and very delicious. The flavors are very good The food is authentic. The atmosphere is nice, not noisy. Conversation at tablecan be heard. The waite staff is courteous.

The orange chicken is really good I really recommend the combo with noodles and veggies

They have gotten way to expensive. I understand prices are skyrocketing but their prices are ridiculous. And if you get the take-out you're expected to pay the same amount but the plates given keep shrinking then they have the nerve to charge extra if the plate is filled up too much!! Go somewhere else!!

Never ever ever ever disappointed. My favorite Chinese food in BR. It's clean and the food is always hot. Prices legit and customer service is A1. I wish they would get some need Boths. The seats and tables are old AF

Our favorite chinese buffet, hands down! We eat here at least 2-3 times a month. They def make you feel welcome! The food is always hot, fresh and delicious! Lots of choices and great variety!

The buffet is very limited. The food was cold even on the heat tables. Several pans empty. $15 for lunch???????? The food was so so even when I could find a hot dish. Save you money and time. Go any place else.

I love the Oriental Pearl! It is my favorite place to get Chinese food in Baton Rouge. It is located on Sherwood Forest Blvd. and Coursey Blvd. not to far off I-10 or down from Airline Highway. Leaving is kind of hard, you are forced to wait to cut across traffic or go down Coursey to circle back to Sherwood Forest. For food, there is a buffet which always features my favorites: egg rolls, sesame chicken, chicken on a stick, grilled potatoes, lo mien and more! If you like sushi, there are sushi options available as well. Additionally, if you can't dine in, you can get a box to go, but honestly, I need multiple trips to get all that I am craving, so dining in is the way to go! The staff is always welcoming, clears our plates away quickly and makes sure our drink cups are full! The food is fairly priced, and if you are a frequent visiting fan, you can get a punch card that gets you a free buffet every 10 visits! Can't wait to get some more Oriental Pearl when I am back in town!

I have passed this place for many years and never stopped to try it. Thanks to yelp I was looking for some new Chinese places around work with a good rating as my usual spot seemed to get a new cook and it's no bueno now. The parking lot was packed and so was the inside but I was seated promptly. I didn't notice it was an all day buffet until I saw a sign inside. The buffet is really small. It's one price for the whole day (9.50). But sometimes small is good. Everything on that buffet was fresh from the food to the fruit. The pineapples I had I could ate 3 bowls of it and been just fine. The lady at the register has a camera in plan view and watches the kitchen and the sitting areas. So I could see the kitchen was pretty clean. Would highly recommend if you are on this side. I will be visiting it more often.

I really don't like Chinese food except from Trey Yuen. I really don't like Chinese buffets either. So why did I eat here? I was in BR at a training class and wanted to fit in. Everyone in the class apparently loved cheap Chinese buffets, so we ended up here. Sometimes you've got to go along to get along, right? Anyway, this is your standard Chinese lunch buffet set up. Cheap, plentiful, and loaded with people. What wasn't so standard is that the food here was actually not awful. The pepper steak was the best dish I tried and it was also the dish that seemed to be avoided by the hungry hoards that descended on the buffet line whenever fresh food was dropped. Win/win for me. The other dudes with me seemed to love this place. I didn't hate it. Their love + my lack of hate = four stars. It's mathematics like a mofo. By the way, if you've made it this far and think I'm a complete douche, you're probbaly right. This review draft has been sitting here for a while and I figured I should go ahead and finish it.

Good buffet selection. Offer sushi which is really good. Staff is friendly and place is clean. It's not a huge buffet but focuses on quality not quantity.

It was my 1st time eating there and it will be my last time !!!!!!! Even though the place had a large crowd for lunch the food was not even warm to say the lease and then I went up to the buffet to grab a hearty plate of food when i got back to my table to my surprise I had a lil four legged 2 antennas friend covered all in I guess was gravy !!!!!!!!

This place is gross. It smelled bad and the food was nasty. I don't understand the high ratings. All chicken and pork were overcooked and the shrimp were undercooked. Even the sushi was gross.

Very small choice in what to eat and food looks like it's three or four days old. I asked one of the ladies if they were gonna put some more noodles and she was very ugly to me. Throughout our entire meal our environment consisted of an employee at the front counter having a heated argument over the phone. Really conducive to digestion. Nasty food. Will not be back.

Went to get a lunch plate to-go, hadn't been in a while but now the lunch plate is half the size and double the price. Food was good but I shouldn't be paying $15 for a small lunch plate.

When it comes to a Chinese buffet, there's a lot of ways to do it wrong. But Oriental Pearl does almost all of it right. The food is hot and better than most other restaurants of this type. The black pepper chicken is a particular delight. They also have a few sushi offerings on the buffet and the price really can't be beat. For lunch or dinner, it's quick and easy and the folks are friendly. It stays in my rotation of places.

Have been going to the Pearl for a very long time and it just keeps getting better! Buffet has always been A1 but the Sushi is also the tops. I have never been a sushi guy but since I tried their's. I love it. Their's is labeled well, so you know exactly what you are getting. No surprises! Nothing raw unless you want that. I always have some with their wonderful soup! Best in town. In a man's life there comes a time when he must stand up for what's right, and fight. That said, I was never much for sidekicks, breaking boards with the edge of my hand, crane-kicks, flying scissor kicks, or arguing with my wife, so when I get the itch, the physical need to test myself, I head on over to Oriental Pearl. Its soothing Asian decor puts me into a coma-like state of meditation, from which upon awaking I immediately wonder how many delicious plates I've eaten. For right at $10, the buffet has a good sushi selection, and many of your Chinese-food favorites, all of which I've tested and give my completely-non-racist-karate-chop of approval. The staff are very friendly as well, in the event that you fall asleep mid-meal like me, they will gently wake you after quickly and silently clearing your used plates. For its excellent staff, overall cleanliness, delicious food, and great prices, I give Oriental Pearl 5 completely-non-racist-karate-chopped-stars out of 5! With the amount of money you'll save on such a great meal for you and your family, you'll even be able to afford to pay the unconstitutional red-light ticket you'll get from the camera at Sherwood and Coursey.

I love Chinese food but this place literally charges you for everything . I ate in at the restaurant the other day and being the fact that it's a buffet, you only pay one price which is the entry fee i guess. I ate my food, got a to-go box because i wasn't done with my food and I was charged $10 dollars more. everyone else that ate with me paid $13 something but I paid $25.26 because I got a to-go box. I didn't get any extra food, I packed up the food that was still on my plate. It literally didn't make sense to me because that's basically charging extra for nothing.

Good food, reasonable prices, and great service! People are always friendly and quick to serve. Best Hot and Sour soup in town! Good selection of sushi. Food kept hot and fresh.

Service was efficient but the food was once again horrible, I've been eating here for awhile and this is where that ends. As of 02/28 I ordered sesame chicken and black pepper chicken. The rice smelled funny which has me stuck to the toilet today and missing work, my black pepper chicken was full of sugar what it never have in it. It's very disappointing wasting $30 twice because expectations weren't met. Never again will I go to this place and recommend the same for everyone else who wants adjustments to their food

This is a very small "hole in the wall" joint. The sushi is to die for! The sesame chicken is really good, but has a lot of sauce on it. It's not bad, but not my first choice. I was a little concerned with the lack of selection at first, but all of the classics are there. It is not somewhere I would bring my young kids because they don't have pizza and chicken nuggets as most Chinese buffets have. This is definitely a stop I make often when I am meeting my husband for a short lunch break.

One of my favorite Chinese spots in Baton Rouge! Highly recommended! Because of Covid-19 they're not doing the buffet right now, but their takeout is just as good! My favorites are the house special lo mein, salt and pepper shrimp and sesame chicken. They also have sushi here. The prices are affordable too! Everything is always fresh and hot when I order. The lady at the register is always so nice and includes plenty of sauce and utensils without me having to ask.

Best Chinese delivery option around. All the food we ordered came hot and fresh. We had about 5 different entrees and everything was excellent. My wife typically hates Chinese food and she even raved about it. Definitely give them a shot!

I went to Oriental Pearl today for lunch. It was my third visit. Some background for the visit...my husband and I went once and I liked it. We took our kids, and neither seemed to like or dislike it overly much. Today, when I suggested meeting my husband for lunch (he works in that area), my daughter immediately suggested Oriental Pearl. She never suggests a restaurant. I was impressed. The buffet was hot and fresh. We got there at 11:30, just as the lunch crowd was beginning to filter in. They serve all of the regular Chinese dishes on their buffet. They also serve sushi on their buffet that is made fresh. The rice, sweet and sour chicken, chicken skewers, and sesame chicken that i ate were all great. My daughter ate chicken and broccoli and beef and broccoli, along with sweet and sour chicken and several other items that I didn't catch because she ate them so quickly. She enjoyed her meal. My husband grazed through the bar. I know he had salt and pepper shrimp, which he liked. He probably sampled small amounts of many other items as he likes everything they serve. The people in his office eat at Oriental Pearl on a regular basis so he is well versed in his favorites. Desert was simple, chocolate and vanilla ice cream with fresh sugar donuts. If you're over by the Quarters Restaurant on Sherwood Forest and have a craving for Chinese Food, I recommend you stop by the Oriental Pearl. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the buffet is great.

The best Chinese buffet in Baton Rouge for the price. The owners are very nice and friendly. The food is always fresh and hot. They have a variety of dishes even sushi at lunch. You can also get the lunch in to go box. Overall this is my go too lunch buffet spot.

Always good food and quick service. Friendly atmosphere. Preparation seems to be consistent as well as taste.
