The 23 Essential Restaurants in Cincinnati

"Mike Wong was an engineering executive in Hong Kong before falling in love with America through John Wayne movies. After coming over on a tourist visa in 1972, he took a restaurant job to secure his residency and has been working in the industry ever since. In 1977, he opened the first of his own, and now three generations of the Wong family are operating the family business at two locations, serving elevated takes on Americanized dishes and traditional Chinese comfort food like faan ke beef (stewed tomatoes with beef and egg). Both locations, in Fort Mitchell and Hyde Park, offer online ordering for carryout, too." - Andy Brownfield

Shared a birthday celebration with a friend, and spouses. We all loved the food & service. I had Chengdu Stir-fry with Grouper and it was probably the best Chinese meal I've ever had. Wonderful restaurant! The birthday ritual here will get the attention of the entire restaurant!

One of the best Chimese restaurants in the country! Beautiful atmosphere, food is excellent, and a very gracious staff. A+

What sets this Chinese restaurant apart from others is its ambiance which fuses Hollywood cinema with Asia. This is a local hot spot for celebrations, and they will drum, sing, and joke around. The menu is long and focuses on the appeal of Chinese-American cuisine. The food is pretty average in that regard. The service was very friendly, and the staff doesn’t miss an opportunity to nod and smile. Lastly, parking is a lot and is very easy.

Great Chinese food, best around! Friendliest service. Fast service. Clean restaurant and bathroom. Big menu with lots of variety. Beautifully decorated.

I got the 5-Spice Tofu and it was delicious. The vegetables were well-seasoned and cooked and the tofu was the perfect texture. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. Service was slow, but the servers were nice.

Was in Kentucky shopping the 127 yard sales and decided to try somewhere new to us. I had my phone pull up the top rated Asian cuisine in Northern Kentucky and this restaurant was presented. Stepping through the door, we soaked in the calming but opulent atmosphere. We received impeccable service, at no time did our beverages get below half full, and a glass of extra ice was provided to keep my ice tea cold. Our server presented as if we were their most important clients. Once our orders were placed, we took a moment to view our surroundings from our cozy semi-circle both. all the while there was live piano music and the faint sound of babbling water from any of the three koi ponds. I observed every table being attended to diligently. The crab rangoon was one of the best I've had, compared to Asian establishments in the mid-western part of Ohio. Not only were they served hot, they were seasoned on the sweeter side and you could see small chunks of crab when broken apart. I ordered the fried eggplant with chicken and green beans in a sesame sauce. You can order this dish with your choice of protein or as vegetarian. A very generous portion was provided with your choice of rice. I selected steamed. I am a fan of the eggplant and like to try it when it is available at a new restaurant I am visiting. I would definitely order this dish again. My husband always gets the Moo Goo Gai Pan. He was impressed that the dish was not soaking in a plate fully sauce, but has substantial amount of chicken, mushrooms, carrots and cabbage. Said it was the best version of Moo Goo Gai Pan he has had so far. After our meals had been boxed up, and we were waiting on our check. Our server arrived with a complimentary dessert in honor of or first visit. In addition the the Owner stopped at our table to thank us for coming. That extra touch makes you feel special and welcomed. We will revisit again, bringing our daughter the next time.

Gorgeous atmosphere. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food came out fairly quickly despite our party being on the larger side. I got the orange chicken and it was the perfect amount of spicy; not too hot. I would definitely love to come here again and try more of the menu!

Google
Family restaurant with character, warmth and so much beauty to walk around and discover. Beauty with the Koi fish and all the elaborate decor is just fun to explore. My favorite (other than the food) is the display of pictures throughout the years…. So much joy, love and happiness has occurred in this restaurant. Family restaurants that do it right are a favorite place to be, for me. — I rarely take a picture of a bathroom (never if a person is there) but this bathroom is clean, beautiful, fully stocked, and again, more memories in picture form to further feel the warmth of this restaurant. Throughout the years we have been here a handful of times and I always felt the same about this pleasant restaurant and liked the food but I had never explored the menu like I did this experience on a Monday at 11 am and I am glad I did as I am now a LOVER of the food and not just the environment. The waitress was super friendly and has been working at this restaurant for 27 years— WHAT???? Wow- loyalty is certainly another indicator of a great restaurant. In any event she was helpful in ordering as I really just wanted a couple appetizers that I had not tried before….I have always wondered what shrimp toast was but never ordered. After reading the amazing reviews about their shrimp toast I was motivated to order but my husband doesn’t eat seafood and it’s a pretty big appetizer and I was getting more food.. the waitress was emphatic about how good they are and I ordered them, as well as, chicken potstickers to split, wonton soup, and chicken fried rice for our kiddo for after school but I wanted to try at the restaurant.. chicken fried rice was good… standard but good standard and I enjoyed it as did our kiddo. The chicken potstickers are not my favorite (in the soup they were better) and I wouldn’t order again but my husband loved them. I am used to the pfchangs and these were very different- felt healthier but just dry…. Again, he thought they were great. The wonton soup was AWESOME and the fact they make it with chicken is so cool as well as we don’t eat a lot of pork so we never do the wontons in most places… Above all though and my favorite new treat -food is their shrimp toast, that I almost talked myself out of ordering…. Holy moly!!!! it was amazing and it was hard to put it down no matter how full I was as it’s toasted perfectly and the flavors are just all really good and while it’s a fried dish it just didn’t feel too oily at all and was just well… perfect, perfect crunch, flavor, texture, dip, all of it…. This toast is why this restaurant will get to know our smiling faces at least a couple times a month…….. When I took all the leftovers home I was excited to share the shrimp toast with our 11 year old as she also loves shrimp. I air fried it to heat it up and it maintained a good amount of the crunch and she LOVED it too… we already have a mom/daughter date to go back. Definitely get the shrimp toast….this was a celebration for my husbands birthday so we went a bit crazy with ordering a variety and this was the perfect restaurant to do this as I fell in love with a restaurant I have always admired and enjoyed going to but just hadn’t found MY dishes :) We (I) will forever order the shrimp toast and wonton soup……. i will keep trying all the main dishes to find my fav and will Update…. Husband got a chicken noodle dish that I can’t remember the name of… he enjoyed it very much and I also thought it was very good (pictured)….like me, he LOVED the wonton soup and he also enjoyed the potstickers… Last note, they serve Pepsi products and while I prefer Diet Coke I never expect a restaurant to have both. Husband asked if they had any while I was at the car and the waitress got me a can of diet Coke with a glass of ice… LOVEd that as any meal is better with your drink of choice. I figured- family restaurant cause someone in their family doesn’t like Pepsi- or just an incredibly considerate restaurant…. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will see you soon….

Yelp
Best fine dining Chinese in the tristate area. The same family has owned this amazing place for decades. Every time, we are greeted by smiling faces --many times by one of Mr. Wong's daughters, or Mr. Wong himself!!! You can dress up or stay casual and feel comfortable. Good for groups of all sizes. They even have a special event room you can reserve for really large groups. If you want to make substitutions with something on the menu, they are always happy to oblige. And the portions are plentiful!!! My favorite is the orange beef with fried rice. Best I've ever tried! Birthdays are always a special celebration here, as they will bring the birthday gong to your table, along with a little birthday dessert, and sing to the birthday person. Our whole family enjoys it.

Yelp
Oriental Wok is always one of my favorites. I love their crab Rangoons and Hong Kong Chicken, which is basically a tempura fried chicken breast with gravy and vegetables. Their fried rice is some of the best around. Aside from the outstanding food, the service is always excellent and the decor is top notch. The vibes inside the restaurant are elegant and old school. My kids love to look at the koi ponds.

Yelp
Just a fancy a panda express. Cool place to go for drinks and maybe appetizers. Service was good.

Yelp
Still one of my favorites! Just love it. I come here often. Live music is always entertaining

Yelp
This place is so vibrant and is full of decorations and makes you smile. The food is always good even the wonton strips you get on the table. I ordered the scallops with eggplant and green beans. I got six huge scallops and they were plump and delicious. My friend got the five spice seafood Our service was great and the leftovers were delicious
google avatar

Renee R.

Yelp
Food is pretty good, not what we are use to not the flavor and spice we prefer, service good at times. The dining experience and ambiance does not match the dishes provided the atmosphere is much more impressive than the dishes. Drinks were great they definitely match the ambiance!

Christi W.

Yelp
You will absolutely fall in love with this restaurant!! The food is outstanding and the Wong family could not be friendlier! Once you become a regular, you are now part of the family. My favorites are the Mushu pork and their shrimp cream cheese rolls.

Yelp
Our first visit. We arrived Saturday at 5 PM thinking we would beat the rush and were immediately seated. Not only was the food excellent but we were well cared for by the hospitality and teamwork of the staff. We also enjoyed the live piano music.

Yelp
You will not find better Chinese food in the area. The best hands down. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is extremely attentive. The atmosphere is incredible. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim while passing through Cincinnati. The kids shared the kids lo mein, my husband got the sweet and sour chicken, and I got thinking pao chicken. Portions are not overly large, but large enough considering you can taste that it's not the run of the mill take out Chinese place. The server was excellent, and we really enjoyed the ambiance.

Yelp
I would love to give this place five stars but, it is not exceptional but, a lovely place. First the reception was exceptional. Friendly faces, immediate setting and they offered my daughter a cute little ring before we sat. The restaurant reminds me of a China restaurant in old school Las Vegas. It's eye catching, interesting and different. Service was good. Drinks are filled quickly, attentive waitress. No complaints. It's fairly expensive compared to most Chinese places around the area but, I think this is more a date night place then, "what's for carry out?" Portions were acceptable, overall very pleasant visit.

Yelp
This is a longstanding restaurant out in the Kentucky suburbs of Cincinnati. I don't know what it looked like when it opened, but at this point it is an ostentatious dining area in a very large room, mixing the live goldfish one might expect with some evidence of Americana as well. The menu has a vegetarian section. The style of cooking seemed Hunan perhaps to me. I got a five-spice tofu. I was quite pleased that it was served over an ample bed of greens and with the choice of white, brown, or fried rice (particularly given that the person next to me asked for no vegetables and white rice with everything; I am reminded of the simple choices we make regarding our health). The tofu was deliciously crispy, though the spices didn't come across quite as strongly as I'd hoped. The side of green beans I got, which had a savory black bean sauce, might have been tastier. Both were good however. A pot of tea had more than I could drink. It's on the pricey side (though this may reflect ambiance as much as food), but for an area not overflowing with Chinese cuisine I was happy that I found this place to try.

Yelp
I went on late Sunday afternoon & the restaurant only had a few tables. Service was good & fast. Waitress was attentive & refilled my water when it was half empty. I ordered the green beans with beef. It was very tasty & cooked perfectly. The restaurant was clean. Parking was easy.

Yelp
Five stars for food and five stars for circuses. Absolutely great food and excellent service. Servers were just flying through the facility. Anyone of whom would stop and ask if they could get you anything. Zane our server was especially attentive. The owner?/manager ? stopped by to check on us and adjust our table. We started with the Shrimp Toast which was not only well presented but was also just amazing. I ordered the Mongolian Shrimp which was pleasantly sweet and spicy. My wife ordered the Moo Shu Pork. She ate two rolled pancakes, as did I, and still left with half a plate of food. It was possibly the best Moo Shu I've ever had. Would definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Tasty Chinese food in Fort Mitchell! Oriental Wok is a Tri-State staple - and I can't believe it's taken me this long to try it. On Saturdays, their mobile ordering opens at 4 p.m. on the dot ... and after a busy day of errands, you better believe I put in that takeout order as soon as I could. Two entrees and one appetizer cost just over $50, which seems a little pricey, but I will say the portion sizes are enormous. My order was ready when I arrived 20 minutes later - and I love that this restaurant has a separate takeout counter from their host stand. The interior is cute and eclectic - I would totally opt to dine in on my next visit. The takeout bags they use are a nice touch - instead of traditional plastic, they're a nice paper - almost gift-bag quality. Our order consisted of Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Vegetarian Pad Thai. Their menu has several vegetarian options - and it was hard to make a decision! The Rangoons were definitely our favorite thing we got - they were warm, crispy, and served with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. The Fried Rice was my husband's - and he said his only complaint was that he wanted a bit more sauce. I had the same thought about the Pad Thai - which otherwise had great flavor and was loaded with tasty veggies. One thing to note - if you order something "extra spicy," that just means that your dish is topped with lots of red pepper flakes. I like red pepper flakes, so that wasn't an issue for me - but just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a different type of heat. Oriental Wok is absolutely a solid option the next time you're craving Chinese food!

Yelp
If you find yourself wanting Chinese in NKY, check out Oriental Wok Restaurant in Ft. Mitchell. They also have a location in Hyde Park, (Cincinnati), Ohio. This is a family owned, upscale restaurant, with a private dining room. We had a large party in the private dining room for a Valentine's Day dinner, and we all had a great time. Drinks, food, service and ambience were all great!

Yelp
REVIEW FROM A 7YR OLD POINT OF VIEW: We are at Oriental Wok today on Buttermilk Parkway. If you like fancy places, this place is cool. My favorite place to sit is at the booth... then you can see all the beautiful red lanterns from there. I should like you all to know the food is very delicioso. I ordered the Crispy Shrimp and fries which was served in a white boat. When you show up there, there will be more surprises to see! Can't wait to see you there! Kid friendly and nice servers!

Yelp
Another year of lovely dinner on Chinese New Year Eve! Everything is lovely, service is great! We order too much, the hot and sour soup is very good. Husband's Chinese noodle soup is more like Cantonese noodle soup with dumplings and noodle, but the dumpling is way bigger than traditional Chinese noodle soup dumpling. More taste like chicken soup. I had scallops egg plant, which is very good except a little too sweet for the egg plant. I had another lovely Chinese new year Eve dinner here.

Yelp
Oriental Wok is a must when visiting the northern Kentucky area. It is a staple of the area and a lovely place to go to celebrate as a group, whether it be for a birthday or book club gathering. The serving sizes are large and the food is excellent. I tried shrimp toast here for the first time recently and I LOVED it. They offer a wide variety of options on the menu and service is wonderful. Oriental Wok is a happy and fun place to go and eat.

Yelp
This place was amazing! First it's so over the top on the inside. My kids loved all the sparkle and the fish. All the staff were super friendly. The food was awesome. The have lots of authentic Chinese food and some classics. My kids gobbled down the chicken and edemame beans and we loved the duck and shrimp and lobster sauce. The drinks were also fantastic. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
It has been a while since I have head amazing and not disappointing Chinese food. This restaurant is family-owned Hong Kong immigrants. First visit here with a party of 2. Got seated right away. Relatively busy on a Friday night and the parking lot was filled. There was also an event reception (likely a wedding) happening that night. Ambience: don't be discouraged that almost everyone in the restaurant is not Asian. This is a running joke in Asian communities. If you do not see Asians eating at an Asian restaurant, it means a restaurant do not serve good food. This is not the case here. In addition, the decor is that of dragons and Chinese paper lanterns. Initially I felt dismissive and disappointed thinking it will be another "imitation" of Chinese cuisine. Again, don't be dismissive (like I was in the beginning). Food: Got served wonton chips for free. The wonton chips were good. I'm a fan. Dip it in some sweet and sour sauce (which they also provide on each table) and yum! Got hoh fan (typically comes with beef), orange roughy fish cooked with black bean sauce (under specialties) and fan kee beef tomato dish. I thought they were all amazing. The fish tasted fresh and my partner was a big fan. He was disappointed in the faan ke beef tomato dish because he thinks it tasted italian. The dish is kind of sweet likely because it is cooked in spaghetti sauce. I thought the dish was good (and I am the one of Asian descent and grew up eating Asian food!). He was just not a fan. It was advertised as authentic home cooking kinda of like grandma's cooking. It tasted comforting for sure. I liked it. Overall, this place will likely be my go to for good Chinese food. This is not your PF Changs or Panda Express kind of Chinese food. I loved the food so much that it made me think of hosting my own wedding reception here as I am sure my guests will appreciate this restaurant just like I did. I also appreciated the owners' sentiment that they opened the restaurant in 1977 (yes I read the bio) to spread to other people their culture and heritage and pretty much just what a good Chinese food should taste. Overall, thumbs up!

Yelp
My coworker and I are traveling for work and when we found Oriental Wok on Yelp with a 4.7 star rating, we knew we had to try it out. Upon entering you see Chinese statues, sparkling lit trees, a Koi Pond, and Chinese lanterns. The ambiance is perfect. Our server suggested apps and entrees based on our requirements and hit was spot on. The food was amazing. The orange beef in particular was melt in your mouth good. The bus boys swarm around like an organized army and kept everything clean, neat and orderly. Our server, upon hearing it was our first time and we were from Massachusetts, brought the owner over and he introduced himself and even sat with us and chatted for a while. Then he bought us a drink for dessert which was a really classy touch. I highly recommend trying this restaurant. I only wish it were closer to home so we could come more often. I am sorry I did not take pictures of the food, we were so hungry we just dug in. Rest assure, the presentation was perfect, the flavor was Devine, and the service here was top notch.

Yelp
Oriental Wok is a family owned treasure! We went for a fun night out and sat on the patio, and enjoyed the lights which created a nice ambience. Their cocktails are hand crafted and delicious. The lo mein noodles are tasty. We will definitely be back! (I would recommend avoiding the buffet on holidays... We have found that the buffet does not compare to their regular menu. We were not impressed on Mother's Day)

Yelp
I have so many positive things to say about this restaurant: from the family behind the scenes, to the service, hospitality, and food. Oriental Wok continues to be one of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant, whether dining in or carrying out. The Wong family is always delightful, engaged, and personable. They greet and interact with all of their guests, making you feel like you're a part of their family. Our waiter, Simeon, was equally impressive and hospitable. He did a great job! The food is always amazing, my favorites are the Crab Rangoon and Spicy Grouper dinner. Always fresh and delicious Make sure you read about the family business on the menu. It's very interesting to hear about the history of the family and their business. They have a customer here, for life.

Joesph H.

Yelp
Very good poo poo platter Singapore noodles good. The cantonese lobster so so very salty and not worth $55 for the dish. Waiter was good.

LizAnne K.

Yelp
this is the best authentic Asian restaurant in the greater Cincinnati area hands down. Amazing service, delicious food, and great value! I tell everyone I know! it's my favorite restaurant!
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Astonishingly and unexpectedly good! From the atmosphere to the service to the food, I can't recommend Oriental Wok enough. We dined at the Ft. Mitchell location and we will definitely be back. The food is immaculately prepared and everything was great. Prices are not bad at all, and the portion sizes were huge. The scallion pancake appetizer is excellent, as was the spicy grouper. The Mongolian beef and the curried Singapore noodles were very good as well. Make sure you are hungry when you go, and also make sure you have a reservation. If you go on a Friday, they have excellent live music too!

Samantha G.

Yelp
Music on wkds boring, we go elsewhere. Thurs music is awesome!!! Food use to be amazing, but his daughter took over and not same:(.

Yelp
Wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with the family! The food is always excellent, the atmosphere is beautiful, the entire staff is top notch, and The Wong Family always makes you feel welcomed! This is our go to place for special family and friends celebrations throughout the year. I highly recommend if you've never dined at The Oriental Wok!
google avatar

Marie K.

Yelp
Oriental Wok is a wonderful family establishment. I've dined there both inside the restaurant and via take-out. Both were great experiences. Dining in the restaurant is extra special for birthdays. The service is extremely friendly, the owners are very kind, and the food is delicious. I've ordered the asparagus stir fry with chicken and Szechwan chicken. Both were very tasty, and I appreciated the generous amount of crisp fresh vegetables in each. The Szechwan chicken was not very spicy heat-wise, but it was good regardless.

Yelp
Went to Oriental Wok with my boyfriend yesterday evening for dinner. We had a lovely evening! We loved the ambiance in restaurant, there are koi ponds around the dining area and they even have an outdoor dining section as well. The service in the restaurant was outstanding! They couldn't do enough for us and were extremely attentive during the entire meal. We started off with the wonton soup which was by far my favorite item we had. The soup was served piping hot, the broth was delicious, had plenty of scallions and great overall flavor. It also had three large and delicious wontons. It was a large enough bowl for my boyfriend and I to split. We then ordered the dim sum which was a recommendation we saw from another Elite Yelper when reading the reviews before coming. We really enjoyed the dim sum! It came with three different types. The largest dim sum was a pork bun that had a sweeter type of pulled pork with almost a BBQ type sauce on it. The pork/shrimp dim sum is fantastic! If I come back again I will definitely just get those dim sum! Wasn't too big of a fan of the lightly colored dim sum, which was just the shrimp one. I wasn't a huge fan but it was tasty! We then got the crab Rangoons which was delicious as well and they came with 8 Rangoon's. For our entrees we ordered the Yang Chow Fried Rice which has pork, chicken and shrimp in it. The fried rice was the only item we had which we felt was lacking flavor a bit. We also ordered the beef and broccoli which we LOVED! We thought the brown sauce was fantastic. If you come to Oriental Wok definitely try out their wonton soup, crab Rangoon's and beef and broccoli! You will definitely not been disappointed!

Kaka K.

Yelp
Best service the owner was very funny and very courteous. Our friends had just gotten married and he gave us free desert for the bride and groom as well as an extra appetizer free of charge. Very kind man and one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. All restaurants should model service like this one! everyone please go visit if ever in kentucky!

Tabitha P.

Yelp
Walking inside is walking into a beautiful experience! It was just what you would want when experiencing this cuisine. Beautiful tables and chairs, rich red decor all around. We had a table of 8 and got appetizers. Egg Rolls- so flavorful and crunchy by not greasy. I also got an order of shrimp toast and could have made a meal out of it alone, it had the crispy fried bread exterior, soft shrimp interior. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely return!

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and great food the best Chinese food in Northern Kentucky. Good service and your family will be happy

Chance C.

Yelp
Female manager is very mouthy and rude to employees, doesnt hesitate to berate staff in front of customers. This location primarily rides on its reputation, and hasn't introduced anything new or innovative for years. The Hyde Park location is much better, food is better quality, attention to detail is on point. The Crescent Springs location lacks discipline or poise, it's one of the two daughters rearranging the chairs at daddy's creation because she doesn't know how to do anything better. Hyde Park is much better and worth your time, that's the future of Oriental Wok. Avoid the Crescemr Springs location, it continues to descend into failure.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
Szechuan beef - beef was tender and generous. Brown rice did a great job sopping up the rich gravy. Hot & Sour soup was great. Rich with a nice spicy kick. Potstickers were nice sized and delicious. Hot & sour soup. It is so delicious! My favorite H&SS! Szechuan chicken, asked for hot oil on the side to kick it up. Hello!!! The oil on the side is the bomb!

Harmon Cove R.

Yelp
this was our third time at this location and, admittedly, it was better before. The service was excellent. The food was not. This time we went on a Sunday and the portions, though generous were really bland. Almost tasteless. It was also expensive, $25 for the special which was not so special.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Love this place! Eat here almost every time we are in the area. We had the potstickers ( with the best sauce ever), cheese abs shrimp eggroll and orange beef. Menu says orange beef is spicy but not really so good even for American tastes that don't like spice. All was delicious. Server was awesome, high energy and friendly. Pina colada was huge.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I deployed to Cincinnati, OH. We decided to go out for dinner as she was leaving home. I love Chinese food, and some of the locals told me that Oriental Wok had been around since 1977. I was a 70's child, so I decided to try it. The ambiance was so inviting. I felt as if I was in China. We were greeted with friendly faces and our waitress was nice too. We decided to order two appetizers. We chose Crab Rangoon and vegetables, which had sweet & and spicy, dipping sauce. we also ordered vegetable spring rolls, which were filled with fresh crunchy veggies and a light crispy layer. Both were very tasty. We also ordered the egg roll. I didn't care much for the egg roll. It had too much going on in it. I ordered my favorite dish. The spicy Mongolian beef with jasmine rice. My girlfriend ordered grilled chillian Seabass with shrimp and veggies. Omg!! Her dish was amazing. I couldn't stop talking about it. The fish had a beautiful crisp on top. I can imagine eating it right now. My mouth is salivating. I plan to return before I leave from Cincinnati. If you're in the Cincinnati area. Please stop by Oriental Wok. You will not be disappointed. To all my Yelpers out there. Let's continue to eat our way through the world.

Yelp
This place is so extra it's perfect. It is designed like a glamorous, Chinese palace. Lots of chandeliers, paper lanterns, perfect for a special occasion or just because.
google avatar

Frank K.

Yelp
The Oriental Wok has always been good in the past and they didn't let us down today. They had a young man playing piano, which was great in the background. The service couldn't have been better and the server stopped multiple times throughout to check on us and have our drinks refilled. We ordered the Crab Rangoons as an appetizer and I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, which had just the right amount of heat for me. If you haven't tried the Oriental Wok yet, you should give it a chance.

Yelp
This place gives you the holistic Chinese restaurant experience. The place has top notch design and presentation. Food is really good I've never had a bad food experience. The owner is very involved and such a nice man. Great place all around!

Giovanni C.

Yelp
Best Chinese in the area. The chicken and other ingredients are noticeably fresher than other Chinese restaurants. Service was also great. The restaurant is crazy in a good way too. You will not be bored there.

Yelp
We were here for Mother's Day this year because I wanted dim sum. We found out after driving a half hour that they were just having a buffet with breakfast food for mother's day. This was a huge disappointment because I could have made my own eggs and sausage at home which would have been way better. They only had a couple of dishes like pepper beef, veggies and sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was extremely dry like it had been sitting out and the other dishes were very bland. For my husband and 5 year old and baby to eat it was $70 and it was definitely not worth it. We will not be coming again.

Yelp
I picked up take-out from here, and found it to be a pleasant, personable experience. The Manager who took my order was patient, and knowledgeable, in guiding me through my choices. The wait-staff who met me at the door was open and friendly. I told her I was considering hosting 10 friends here at a future date, and she invited me to just walk around and check out the restaurant for myself. Plus she gave me a free bottle of water to go. Despite other reviews here, I didn't think the decor was that "circus-ish" (excepting the long gaudy car out front). It just seemed very very red, spacious and comfortable. I got the mu shu pork, and it was tasty and fresh. I also got the spinach wraps -- they were okay, but I expected more seasoning in the chicken. However, I was impressed that they had taken the care to trim the sides of the lettuce leaves they had packed for me. Overall, it didn't feel that authentic a Chinese meal, but it was great for what it was -- a decently cooked meal delivered with fantastic hospitality in a comfortable setting.

Yelp
Great local Chinese restaurant. I have dined here with friends and family. Even Christmas Eve dinner last year. The Hong Kong chicken with fried rice is delicious. The food is delicious, and the service is even better.

Yelp
As you walk over the Koi fish pond and you hear the ringing sound of a gong you realize your somewhere special! The Wong family has been featured on Food Network and for good reason. Its soooooooooo good! The ownership loves making people feel at home. Mr. Wong likes to flirt with the ladies and hand out Budweisers as people wait for their meal. His daughters are the heart of the operation and you can tell that everything is made and served with love! If you're new to Northern Kentucky then please do yourself a favor and join the family because the rest of us already know that Oriental Wok is where you go to celebrate special occasions like prom, date night, anniversaries, and you know Wednesdays! They have a really nice patio and often feature live music and or a jazz pianist. The bar is usually hopping and they have all the classic cocktails. You can't miss it because a giant limousine with a Chinese dragon is parked out front. Only the finer things in life are on the menu at the Wok!
