Cute, very clean hotel. Would definitely stay here again. Loved the location. My only suggestions for improvement - water pressure is a little low, and the bathroom doors don't provide much privacy. The sliding barn doors are cute, but there's a gap at either end and they don't lock. Other than that everything was perfect

What a cool hotel. The location is great to get away from Austin and still have nice choices in walking distance to eat or grab a drink. The room decor is really well done. Very clean hotel with fun little extras. The only negative was on the day of checkout housekeeping knocked on our door at 8am and then again at 11 and at 11 attempted to open the door though as a platinum member I had requested and had been approved a late check out. Other than that a perfect stay.

Great clean hotel and rooms. We’ve stayed twice in the past year and both times we’ve had great experience. Rooms are clean and look pretty new; they are not huge but cozy and clean. Service has always been been great. There are a lot of really good eateries around - recommend Colleen’s which is across the street. We will be back next stay in Austin.

Loved staying here! Brought my little chihuahua and everyone loved her and she loved it here! Felt right at home. Love that everything is walking distance and dog friendly. Very nice staff. Place is very clean and everyone was so kind no matter who u talked to. Thanks for letting me and my jazzy stay here 😀

Google
We loved the location as there’s some nice restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. We will likely not stay here again as the walls are very thin, we could hear people yelling at 10 pm and then got woken up by delivery trucks outside at 6am. Also the rooms felt like it didn’t have enough lighting and some of the furnishes looked worn down. For example, we couldn’t hang anything on the hooks as it was barely mounted/hanging from the wall. Also there is barely enough room to hang any clothing, as the second hook is useless and mounted right above the safe. We also had the worst internet service inside the hotel as well.

Adorable hotel. We were here for Xmas and they decorated our room with a Home Alone Xmas theme, which my kids loved. The service was excellent, especially in the restaurant. We had the same server, Jim G, every morning. He went the extra mile each time to accommodate us and made us feel like family. Would definitely recommend, especially for families, we will be back

At 60-something and having traveled quite a bit for conferences, I have stayed in a fair number of hotels. Origin Austin is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The quality-price value beats any other hotel I have experienced. The rooms are impeccable and comfortable. The modern design, along with the Southwest theme, contributes to a restful atmosphere. You might be slightly surprised (annoyed) by the motion sensors that turn the lights off after a short period of inactivity. The service is outstanding (they still turn over rooms daily), and the staff is very friendly (if, like me, you prefer tea, be sure to ask for a kettle for your room). There is a nice restaurant that serves all-day breakfast. The location is fantastic, with a small park, a lake across the street, and plenty of places to eat and drink. There is public parking across the street, and the charge is $2/hour (unsure about the daily max). If you are looking for a Hotel in Austin, this is a great choice!

Google
I felt like royalty at the Origin Hotel. Everything is simply beautiful, beds comfortable, sheets luxurious, bath products top notch. Great restaurants in every direction. But best of all, the staff were so kind and helpful. I recommend a stay at this super chic hotel. It will delight all your senses.

Yelp
I don't know about the other reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The staff was really kind off the bat and the hotel was really clean and smelled so good! I loved the aesthetics and the patio. It is in proximity to a park, movie theater, shopping, and some restaurants. If you're coming to the city for a concert or event, this is a great option away from all the chaos but close enough to everything downtown! Lets get into the room rating: *Beds: 5/5 - super comfy beds, sheets, and pillows!!! *Bathroom: 5/5 - excellent layout with the necessities and very clean! *Views/Area: 5/5 *Service: 5/5 (including the housekeeping, front desk, and valet parking). We needed a microwave in our room and they brought it to us right away even it was 30 minutes before our check out time.

Yelp
I needed a hotel close to the state offices and buildings, so I chose The Origin. I didn't utilize the valet option because several Google reviews mentioned can be a little slow in the mornings. I opted for the garage parking which is a $20 flat rate. All the staff was great, except for the black chick in the morning; she must have been dyslexic or something because she asked me seven times to spell my surname, and each time I did, she thought I was saying, "SW", but I said "W". Then, the following morning she mentioned that she was going to call me on a mistake that happened when I switched my personal card to the business credit card when paying for the room. I was baffled that she didn't call and waited until I came to the desk. (what if I didn't come that morning?) The room was simple which I liked the most; a comfy bed, television, mini refrigerator, restroom with hot steaming water coming out of the shower head, and a restaurant on site. I didn't need a hotel with breakfast included since most hotels never have anything that I can eat in the mornings. Again, did not need a pool since I wouldn't frequent it at all. I loved that the rooms were mid-century contemporary style. The gym on the second floor had what I needed, despite it being small. It had two treadmills, two elliptical machines, four-cycle bikes, a row machine, ropes, mats, weights, towels to dry sweat, and mirrors. I ultra loved that the hotel was in the middle of everything; Alamo Drafthouse across the street, ice cream parlors, restaurants, and the Mueller Lake park. I would 1000% stay here again!

Yelp
Red alert! The Manager (Johnathan Aooedondo) over Origin Hotel Austin is highly disrespectful and spoke very unkindly to us when we brought an incredibly concerning situation to his attention regarding our recent stay. After also waiting for him to reach out as his staff told us he would, but never did. So, we had to reach out to speak with him after almost 2 weeks had gone by with no response. And, Never did we expect such blatant disregard, for the safety of our son as he blurted out that "It Was Just A little Water On The Floor", after we had explained to him the the sink was heavily leaking onto the floor and soaking the carpeting during the entirety of our stay, which was brought to our attention following an almost tragic incident of our son slipping on the wet marble flooring and hitting his head if we hadn't caught him last minute. Not to mention we could not utilize that sink our entire stay due the continuous pooling of water in the bathroom when turned on. The owner's resolution was mere points and to join the Wyndham Rewards Program and following this hung up on us during the call and when we called back his staff reported that he was on vacation which was a complete lie. What a coward move and the audacity of this guy to minimize this is also both truly hurtful, insulting and is frankly unacceptable disgusting behavior to have gotten after such a frightening event. This definitely speaks to the character of the establishment and doesn't sit right with us in the least bit. Very disappointed by this experience with Wyndham and most specifically it's poor choice for management when it comes to amicably resolving situations such as ours. Update: The response left below is right after they had the nerve to send an email through our booking provider to let us know our family is banned from their hotel for doing absolutely nothing wrong. So, why respond thereafter with this BS apology like you meant well. Oh wait... that was for show. Not surprised! Not excusable and very infuriating to have been treated so horribly by Origin Hotel Austin Team and Wyndham as a whole! Keep your fake apology! Nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yelp
This is a baffling hotel. It is the worst acoustically designed hotel I've ever stayed in, and that's saying something. There is no noise muffling from your neighbors. None. I could clearly hear my neighbor singing in the shower. The ceiling is made of planks with big gaps in it which means any thing from above sounds like a cannon. One of neighbors lets their front door slam shut? -- your entire unit shakes (and wakes up you too early, of course). There is virtually no carpet in the rooms to muffle any sound (probably for the dogs, I guess). Mini fridge is nice I guess, but the compressor is so freakin' loud. Right now the housecleaner is cleaning my neighbors room and it might as well be in my room. Most hotel rooms are rectangles (as are most are in this hotel), but my little corner of the hotel had L-shaped rooms, with the two bathrooms nestled with each other. This meant that my neighbors toilet was right up my living area wall. Which means every time they flushed the toilet, it sounded like rain. This hotel apparently is great if you have dogs, but the converse is that it sucks if you don't. My room smelled of dog (the curtains and upholstered chair), and remember this hotel is only about one year old at the time of my stay (late Nov 2023). And the one rug in it was already pretty disgustingly dirty. The tea kettle is poorly designed so that I immediately burned my thumb and now have a blister. There are two elevators, but they aren't interconnected so you just pick one and hope for the best. The lights have a motion sensor deactivation which in theory is nice, but in reality if you're sitting at the desk (chair is ergonomically way too low BTW -- good luck trying to get any proper computer work done), they'll turn off and the only way to turn them back on is to get up and go to the door. It has a barn door bathroom, which is already 5 years too late aesthetically, and terrible for any kind of noise privacy. The one good thing about it is the location, for which I give it an extra star.

Yelp
Hip and affordable, in the heart of the Mueller District of Austin so walking distance to (and crawling distance from) really great bars and restaurants.

Yelp
The staff is very courteous and friendly. The rooms are clean and fresh. No carpet which is a plus. This hotel is pet friendly. Our room was a 5th floor balcony overlooking the Mueller District. Very nice restaurants within walking distance. The "Blue Lacy" on-site restaurant serves a delightful breakfast. We're already planning our next stay here.

Yelp
Let's start with the good. First I have no clue what this place costs, especially on a very busy weekend in Austin. Some people were saying they paid $305 on a week day, it's bouge...but it's in no way that kind of bougie. It's your typical hipster boutique hotel, but with small rooms and weird furniture that will never be comfortable. Its atmosphere is perfect for Austin, FYI Austin you've lost the weird so find a new slogan. Here's where it fell apart for me. First the water pressure your tap trickles at best, and I've been moved to a second room with no change on that water pressure. Thank goodness the second room actually had hot water. So even the lack of hot water (let me say here two days of freezing cold showers really sucks! Especially when you're in town for work and have to be up and to work early each morning). That wasn't even why I want to give you low stars. It's the fact your staff acts like they never heard of these problems and there is now engineers available to fix the problem. They only solution is switch rooms but I can't get a key to my old room and new room at the same time WTAF! It was the worst handle problem I have ever encountered in my years of travel. Plus I went online this cold water and lack of water pressure problem goes back for over a year! Fix the damn water issues! I'm surprised Wyndom lets them stay affiliated with their brand perhaps Wyndom should look into this. So hope you get a hot shower but check it before unpacking. Running the water for a long period of time only makes it colder.

Yelp
Positives: the hotel is reasonably priced and is nicely decorated - it has a boutique feel. The rooms are small for Austin, but they're comfortable and clean. The area is nice. There's a small lake if you want to go for a run, there are several restaurants and coffeeshops nearby. It's half a mile to HEB also. Cons: Hot water was not always available, the water pressure wasn't great, and the shower gel / shampoo they provided had a very strong scent (like Axe body spray). I don't think it's reasonable for the hotel to charge for parking since it's not a downtown location.

Cyndy S.

Yelp
Fabulous, cool hotel. John and everyone (and I mean everyone) was delightful and so helpful....even the Blue Lacy staff and the car valet staff, specially Andrew. Room towels were luxurious. Great little neighborhood within 1 minute walking to fun little bars and The Alamo Drafthouse. We'll be back.

Yelp
The AC in my apartment broke while it was over 100 degrees, so I booked this hotel last minute for a night and showed up within the hour. Overall, it was pleasant with a great view of the Mueller area. The sink water pressure was a bit low and I was a bit surprised that there was water bottles in the room with price tags saying $4. Additionally, parking was $20 per night, which is a bit outrageous. The TV was oddly positioned and the remote required you to press REALLY hard. This is a minor detal though, and didn't ruin the experience. In general though, it has a very chic vibe and was a great last minute place to stay for the night.

Yelp
OK. I drove a friend's car from Detroit to Austin over two days. The first night I stayed in Marion Arkansas. The room was $170. WTF? I needed a safe place to stay since the car was loaded up with their daughter's belongings. Since I made such good time I wound up in Austin the next night and booked in here. What a great hotel. Boutiquey. I had two previously very bad nights sleep and was in need of one really good, long, quiet sleep. This I got. Exactly what the doctor ordered. This isn't downtown. It is in the Mueller area. Kind of suburban. The area around it is fantastic. And the hotel, in Austin, was $50 less a night than Marion Arkansas. Go figure!

Yelp
I've stayed there twice and had a great time on both occasions. Great location and right across the street from the parking garage. Friendly staff and easy walk to a number of different restaurants and next door to the Alamo Drafthouse. I will, definitely, be going back when the need to stay at a hotel, in that area, arises!

Yelp
Sliding farm door to the bathroom kept coming off the runner and was impossible to open it close room smelled like urine. Had to spray my pillow to not smell it and there was only one valet attendant and we waited for 40+ min for our car. Otherwise ok.

Lawrence D.

Yelp
Well this was a HUGE disappointment. I was put up here for a couple weeks for work and let me tell you what a miserable stay, unless you like cold showers then you're fine . The staff was great is the only reason it got 2 stars . The attached restaurant was also a big over priced and small portion letdown and just not good food.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Beautiful hotle lovely staff but the bar next door plays music till pass midnight so loud it's impossible to sleep and even thou it's passed the city noise by law the hotle can't do anything about it . We need up sleeping on the pull out couch in the other room that was at a 10% angle n supper lumpy just to try n get some sleep till the bar calmed down . But the windows in the hotle r so thin u could hear a mouse fart outside .

Colleen M.

Yelp
Booked a 2 night stay. After checking into my hotel room, I found that there was no hot water so I couldn't take a shower. I called the front desk and apparently was not the first person to note this. They had me wait a few hours until determining that maintenance was unable to fix it. By this time it was after 8:00 at night and they asked me to move rooms. The hot water worked for one night, then went out in that room also. So second night with no ability to shower in a room that I'm paying for. The motion sensor lights are painted over, so they Auto time off about every 15 minutes regardless of if you are up and moving around the room. It's a theoretically energy saving device that instead puts you in complete darkness every 15 minutes while you are trying to work making it impossible to get anything done.

Yelp
We stayed in March for an event and again in May for UT graduation. Plus is that they are welcoming to dogs. The rooms are very small but very clean. There is no place to sit except on the bed. Only one room key card was available for three people. For the price, surprisingly there was no am coffee, the room coffee maker provided one instant coffee bag and two tea bags. We had to ask for wash cloths. We asked to extend checkout one hour but the manager argued with us. We did manage to get 1/2 hour out of him. Parking is outrageous. We did like the Irish Pub and the Lick ice cream across the walkway. The adjacent park was a plus for walking and the dog. The Blue Lacey staff was super friendly. The mini sliders are great. Nice breakfast but I like my morning coffee first. Make a coffee bar downstairs available to guests and make it good.

Yelp
The hotel had a quaint, artsy, boutique feel. I was pleased by the appearance upon arrival. I wish I'd paid closer attention to the description as I was surprised that parking was $20 per night. Thankfully, we were there for one night. We ate dinner at the little place across the street. It had an eclectic vibe and the food was tasty, but pricey. They charged an automatic 20% "service fee" but then asked for a tip as well. We chalked it up to inflation and again, glad we were there only for one night. The room was fairly typical for this price point, but did have a few creative touches that we appreciated. The reason for the three stars is because we DID NOT SLEEP! A party in the room next door began at about 11pm. It wasn't unbearable and we were tired, so we let it go, thinking they'd end it within a few hours. By about 2am, they were ROCKIN'! We tried to ignore the music, laughter, and shouting, but at about 2:45am, we couldn't take it anymore. Yes, we probably should've called the front desk sooner, but I think we were just so tired and hopeful it would end...soon. The front desk seemed a bit agitated by my call and asked me specifically where the noise was coming from (which side of our room and were we sure it wasn't from the floor above). I told her I didn't know but that we'd been listening to it since 11pm and it had escalated. Could they just please come up and tell them to stop? After about 30 more minutes, the party quieted, a bit. By about 4am, they were finally mostly quiet. When we went to the front desk to check out, the gentleman asked us about our evening. I said "it was exhausting." I then explained what happened. He said he was sorry that happened. That was all he had to offer. My mom then stepped in and asked if they could offer a discount for the total lack of regard for guests who actually wanted/needed to sleep? The two men (employees) said they'd have to ask their manager because he was "in a meeting." They took my name, phone number, and email address and said they'd contact me. We assumed nothing would happen in our favor, but we were trying to stay positive, so we waited for the valet to bring our car and we left. I never received any follow-up contact from the hotel, but the final charge looks as though they may have comped the valet. The final charge for one night and zero sleep was $350+! Moral of the story is if you intend to sleep, do NOT count on it at Origin Austin by Wyndham. I guess, because we booked a room in a college town, we got what we deserved???!!! Either way, we will be in Austin for the state high school track meet, but we'll try our luck elsewhere.

Travis F.

Yelp
Ourr stay was awesome! Great pllace to stay, especially if you are a Liverpool fan, because the Austin LFC pub is right next door. The staff is friendly and represent Austin well.
