"Distilling down to the essence of American cuisine these days is tough, especially with the new crop of chefs redefining it into a type of New American fare. Origin, however goes back to basics, serving the traditional, hearty American food that fueled our childhood dinners. Tender, fall-off-the-bone short ribs on a bed of creamy, goat cheese grits, burgers made with the finest American bison, buttery Brussels sprout salads. Come hungry—and we mean hungry—and start with predinner drinks at the white subway-tiled bar. Appetite whetted, scoot into one of the cozy booths for what can only be described as an all-American feast, accompanied by a robust wine list. "

14 Dallas Restaurants With Excellent Gluten-Free Options | Eater Dallas

"Gluten-free dishes are abundant at Origin, including plenty of brunch options, burgers, and excellent fried calamari. Save room for the “trifecta” — a dessert involving three cookies (chocolate chip, double chocolate, and macadamia nut) and a scoop of ice cream." - Amy McCarthy

A Truly Memorable Dining Experience at Origin Kitchen and Bar I had the pleasure of dining at Origin Kitchen and Bar on the recommendation of my dear friend, Richard Roper, and I can say without hesitation—it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Dallas. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. Armando, our server, went above and beyond—including having a special honey mustard made just for our table. That kind of attention to detail is rare and speaks volumes about the culture of hospitality here. What truly set the experience apart, though, was the personal attention from Chef Scott. Not only did he take the time to visit with us at our table, but he also came back to check on us multiple times throughout the meal. He shared his philosophy about expanding the boundaries of what healthy scratch food can be, and after tasting the dishes—it’s clear he's doing exactly that. The organic ingredients and overall quality of the food were outstanding. Every bite tasted fresh, clean, and carefully crafted. I requested several custom changes to my salad, and not only were they accepted without hesitation—I was even offered more customization options than I had imagined. That’s rare and speaks to a level of hospitality and culinary confidence that is truly special. It’s hard to find a place where the food feels authentic, deeply nourishing, and leaves you feeling like you just enjoyed a meal at home with a private chef—but that’s exactly the magic of Origin Kitchen and Bar. I can’t wait to return and try their breakfast next. If you’re in Dallas and value great food, warm service, and thoughtful innovation in the kitchen, this is a must-visit.

Staff is friendly and attentive. Menu is vast and I want to return to try more. I had the BYOBowl and it was delicious, but I made it rather pricey with add-ons. Oh well it was good. Had a Dirty Chai Latte that was a good chai flavor. And the did the chips and guac starter which was also really yummy.

Visiting from out of state. I had the chilaquiles with salmon. Was very happy to find gluten free food here in Dallas. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination. Will definitely come back in the future! Thank you Origin kitchen for a lovely experience.

My wife was excited to try this place for the gluten free dishes, as well as the food having a select "origin"...i.e. pasture raised chicken, grass-fed beef, etc. We arrived & were seated right away. After we were seated, it took a while for our waiter to come over & get our food/drink orders. When he eventually brought the drinks, my wife asked for straws. He brought them back, but dropped one & we assumed he'd come right back with a replacement. He never did; we had to flag him down & request it. After waiting 45mins, UNATTENDED TO, we flagged him down again to ask about our food. About 5mins later a lady (supervisor/mngr) came to our table to, say that the reason our food was delayed is because of my wife's mushroom order, as they make them separately. Mind you, a couple that was seated right after us(next table over) ordered mushrooms as well & they were already done eating. My wife asked was this normal sevice & the lady replied, yes. It was so apathetic that the women at another table next to us interjected & told the lady she should have brought us an appetizer instead just excuses; which after such we did receive. Finally, about 5mins later I received my food (luke warm) & then my wife's food after another 5mins. The whole experience was tainted at that point, seeing several tables that came in with us EAT AND LEAVE smh. Huge disappointment. The food wasn't good enough to wash out the taste of their bad service. They did surprisingly credit my wife's meal w/out ask, but no apology or attempt to save face whatsoever. I would like to think we just got a sub-par waiter, but idk. Probably won't be back.

The food, perfect. Atmosphere, lovely. Service, started off wonderful. We were abandoned by our server after he took our order, we both tried to get his attention and failed while he took care of tables around us. We never recieved refills on drinks or a check in on how the food was. In the end I had to go grab someone to get our ticket and a to go box. On the way out he told us to have a blessed day. Very confusing experience.

I had an outstanding experience at Origin. The food was incredible and the service was next level. Both Scott and Armando took great care of us. They both did an amazing job from start to finish—professional, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to delivering the best service. This restaurant exceeded all my expectations & I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This is one of my go-to places for a weekday lunch or weekend brunch. The best part about this place is that they have high quality ingredients and you can always find a healthy option on the menu. They also cater to people with gluten allergies and have excellent vegan options. It gets busy quick, so I recommend making a reservation. Plenty of parking out front. Dress is casual. Overall, this is a great place for a family meal or to catch up with friends and the food is very good.

Yelp
We came for weekend brunch, and they were able to seat us within 15 min without a reservation! That being said, that was probably the highlight. There was an overwhelming smell of burnt mushrooms that made it a bit difficult to enjoy the experience. Trying to ignore that, the ambiance was casual with an open kitchen concept. For drinks, we got the enter the dragon, which was not too sweet and had a wonderful touch of ginger infusion! We also got the cold brew, which was mostly ice and felt too dilute for a true cold brew. The food itself was pretty average. Brie, brussel, artichoke dip (4/5): The chips tasted like they were made in house, but the bread was a bit stiff. The dip itself was good, but it was hard to taste the brussels. Origin burger (3.5/5): We asked for medium rare, but it came closer to medium well. The server did tell us that the chef typically goes for medium, so if you prefer that, then it would be fine! Apple melt (3/5): it was an interesting combination for the sandwich! Loved the avocado, although couldn't taste much of the apple. Overall, not bad but not sure I'd try it again. There are a lot of gluten-free options, which is probably origin's main feature. Otherwise, it's a bit average without the best ambiance for the price.

Yelp
Try the GF focaccia! So few places have any gluten free bread, much less made in house. There were several gluten free menu item options. They even told us some new things they were working on to add to the menu so we'll be back. Staff were kind and knowledgeable of gluten free needs. Cozy atmosphere. Lots of people were there for a Saturday night but it wasn't overly packed to being unenjoyable. Parking was easy.

Yelp
It's been almost 10 years since my initial review of Origin Kitchen and Bar, and I'm pleased to say it is still as amazing as always. If you're looking for a brunch spot that allows you to maintain a healthy diet, look no further!! Origin Kitchen and Bar is your spot!!! I've been here many times, all for brunch and I always have an awesome experience. As I have always done, I make a reservation via Open Table and upon arrival I usuallly seated within minutes. This place gets busy and as such, I suggest making a reservation (or prepare to wait). The restaurant layout is very open with a modern décor. The seating includes tables/chairs, booths and bar seating. Also, there is a patio for those that choose to venture outside (the patio is on the McKinney Avenue side of the restaurant). The staff is always super friendly and attentive. And believe it or not, they all seem to enjoy what they're doing. The ambiance is casual so there's no need to put on your 'Sunday best' (just keep it presentable). While the space and ambiance are part of the appeal as to why I enjoy Origin, the real reason is the food. In addition to being super fresh and healthy, it's very flavorful. Whoever believes eating healthy requires sacrificing flavor needs to make a visit to Origin. In addition to being full of flavor the portions are large enough share. My favorites are their Warm Shaved Brussels Salad and the Grass Fed Burger. Who needs fries when you can have some amazing Brussel Sprouts? And if I have room left, I finish my meal off with an entrée called "The King". If you like French Toast you must order this. Don't think twice about it; just order it. As for beverages, they brew a nice cup of java. Also, favorites of mine include their Moscow Mule and of course, one can never go wrong with a mimosa or two or three. Lastly, there is a parking lot available. It is shared with several other places in the area and can fill up. Add to that, the spaces are small so plan accordingly if you are in a larger vehicle. I always enjoy dining here and look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
If this isn't on your list of places to try, it needs to be added ASAP! Not only is the food vibrant & flavorful, but they also are a seed-oil free restaurant! These are not easy to come by and they proudly avoid seed oils as well as source locally/seasonally when possible. We ordered the wake up omelette and the steak & eggs which both came out fresh and well seasoned (just needed hot sauce). We sat at the kitchen bar and were able to watch our food be prepared in the open concept kitchen. I enjoyed both the visibility as well as the volume of the restaurant being low enough that we could still hold a conversation while they were at maximum capacity. I wouldn't say it was library level quiet, but it was a tasteful level for the occasion. My only reason in dropping 1 star is that the hostess was not welcoming and slightly rude. Had I not been meeting a friend there, I would've considered leaving based on that but I'm glad I stuck around as everyone else was great! Advice to management: make sure hostesses are delivering the start to finish experience that the rest of the staff is upheld to. Advice to customers: GO CHECK THEM OUT!

Yelp
Food: healthy gluten free, dairy free, paleo, options was what attracted us to choose this place for brunch because my friend has dietary restrictions and loves their chicken and waffles. I had the Sunrise@Origin cocktail and the Wake Up Omelette. The fresh avocado and crisp side of fries made it hearty. The chicken and waffles was a large portion so she had to take 1/4 th of it home to eat later. Service: attentive staff courteously refilled our water and bottomless coffee often with no prompting and checked with us twice to be sure the food was to our liking. They also asked if it was for a celebration as they saw my gift bag. I mentioned it was my friends birthday. They brought a solo mousse out as a surprise after our meal to celebrate. I noticed the $8 charge for it later but it was a nice touch. Accessibility. A large parking lot that had plenty of spots at 10:00 am Saturday. Accepts reservations. It filled up so by the time we left at 11:30 there was a line to get in and lot was full. Ambiance: Noise from the open kitchen and talking patrons at tables and booths and bar stools at the counter echoes the long narrow rectangular dining room but we had a quiet table in the back corner by the back exit door so it was cozy for catching up so we did not have to shout to hear one another. Overall, we would be back. Budget wise with coffee, drinks, and tip you will probably average $40-45 a person. I find the Snooze AM eatery prices more reasonable in comparison to the portions as a benchmark.

Yelp
Good food, while it didn't matter much serve was very slow. Waitress was very amiable.

Yelp
Came here for my fiancés bday brunch! We arrived early and waited a few minutes for a booth. We were promptly helped. I got the steak and eggs. I requested it be cooked medium, it was a little overdone but still really! I got the married in Mexico. It must not have read the description thoroughly because it had mezcal which I do not liked for my second drink I got the sunrise which was really good! I also got the wings as an appetizer which was really good! Parking was easy and overall I would definitely go back!

Yelp
I've eaten at origin many times. I've never failed to have an excellent meal there. I took some friends there today and they were all just floored at the quality of the food. The weight staff they have a really great buy on mimosas for brunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. And if you have food, allergies or intolerances, this is also an excellent place to go. They are very aware of what's in their food because it's all made right there in their kitchen.

Yelp
10/10!!!!!! we went for dinner and had an AMAZING experience! our server, Dakota (i think that was her name lol) she was so helpful with navigating the menu and gave wonderful suggestions! also super kind:) she was attentive and frequently checked on us! We got the cashew queso and salsa appetizer which was delicious! i got the almond avocado salad and added salmon + sweet potato fries (so good!!) and my dad got the chicken fried chicken (he LOVED it, especially the brussel sprouts and gravy). We also got dessert, the apple pie and chocolate mousse were to die for we happily CLEANED our plates and we will for sure be back very soon Overall, kind/helpful staff, high quality food, great ambiance, and a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Omg. I am not really a 'brunch' girl as I'm usually at a workout class and then getting errands done so have not hit too many brunch spot (more of a dinner girlie) but this was so good! Origin is a small spot on McKinney Avenue and thank goodness we made reservations because it was absolutely full at 10:30 on Sunday morning. The hostess greeted us right away and sat us promptly. Our server was so attentive, great explaining the menu and continually checked in on how our meal was and offering refills on drinks and coffee. I got the king, which was French toast with banana, bacon, maple syrup, and a whipped cream on the side. I wish my stomach was as big as my eyes as it was super filling, and I couldn't eat the whole thing even though I absolutely wanted to. my boyfriend got the sweet potato hash bowl which he promptly finished off. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Overall it was a great experience and I'm keeping Origins on the Hit list.

Yelp
Amazing place! Lots of organic foods. Really good buffalo sauce! Great service, but I do think you need a barista to make all of the coffee related drinks. They have the bartender doing both, and I believe I saw them getting a little overwhelmed . However, still excellent service. I recommend this place. I got the steak and eggs. Cooked to perfection. Four out of five stars

Mindy T.

Yelp
Some food was good but some was lackluster and even blah. We enjoyed the burger and the Brussel sprouts salad. The Cobb salad and the chilaquiles were not good and kids meals were very blah. They were just dry grilled cheese that initially were served without any sides until we asked. Children's meals came quick, which was a plus. It was the service that was lacking. We never received menus and someone came to take our order, never noticing we didn't have menus. It took forever to give our order. We had a spilled glass of water that happened in front of the server. He basically stood there and just watched us try to clean it up. We had to ask for something to get it cleaned up. Once the food came, we never saw the server. Anytime we needed something, we had to track someone down. Don't think we will go back. It was not worth $150.

Yelp
This is a great option if you are trying to eat healthy. My boyfriend and I are both doing a 30 day paleo cleanse so options are limited and Origin is one of the few places that has multiple Paleo friendly options. The highlights were definitely the chicken wings (we ate all of them before I remembered to snap a photo) and the cauliflower side dish. My boyfriend really liked his orange chicken but I found it the chicken to be a bit dry/overcooked and the sauce to be lack luster. I have made a paleo version of orange chicken at home that came out better... it just took a lot more effort than eating out. I ordered the paleo tacos. They were okay at best. The meat was bland and the wraps didn't hold together well. They were pretty good after drizzling with the sauce though.
google avatar

Bailey G.

Yelp
I went to Origin kitchen with my sister who is gluten free. Our server, Drew, was so helpful. He gave us lots of recommendations and made sure to describe the GF options (most item are, or can be made, gluten free). We had the artichoke dip to start and split the gluten free fried chicken and mac n cheese. Both were delicious. We definitely want to come back for dinner to try the GF calamari and mozzarella sticks. Unfortunately the oven was broken when we went so we couldn't try the GF apple pie. We'll definitely be going back!!
google avatar

Brandon J.

Yelp
This place isn't cheap... $40ish per plate when it's all said and done, but unlike many places these days you leave feeling good about it. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all allergies and they are a celiac friendly restaurant. We went twice, once for dinner and again for breakfast and both were amazing. I cannot stress how good it was and I'm happy to pay a bit more to keep my celiac kid healthy (and you have the added benefit of a place using good ingredients and refusing to use seed oils). They're willing to change ingredients (rice flour vs almond flour etc) based on your desires. In short it costs more because it's worth it! Whether you have dietary restrictions or not, this is worth a try. It isn't "good for gluten free", it's just good... hard stop.

Yelp
My wife and I recently dined at Origin Kitchen + Bar in Dallas, Texas, and had a fantastic experience. We discovered this gem through the Seed Oil App, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The restaurant's commitment to functional nutrition and better health is evident in every dish on the menu. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate individual dietary preferences and needs, ensuring a personalized dining experience. The food was incredible; I enjoyed the beef enchiladas with goat cheese, while my wife savored the orange chicken with broccoli. Notably, no seed oils are used here; everything fried is done in coconut oil, a superior option that enhances both flavor and health benefits. A special shout-out to our servers, Shannon and Anthony, who provided outstanding service. The cocktails were also top-notch, adding to the overall excellent experience. Kudos to Chef Scott and Manager Chris for their exceptional work. We will be back!

Yelp
I recently brunched at Origin Kitchen. They have lots of options for those on special diets like Paleo. I got the Roadie (chicken pita with avocado, bacon, and brie), but substituted a Ciabatta bun for the pita. They mistakenly left off the Brie so I had to get it on the side and it wasn't grilled which was a bummer. The sweet potato fries were superb! Perfectly crisp and not at all greasy. The shaved brussels salad tastes exactly as you would expect from the menu description. I still prefer a charred roasted sprout myself. The specialty coffees and teas are insta-worthy and tasted as good as they looked. Overall, the food was good quality and tasty if not a little on the pricey side.

Yelp
Where do I start? I haven't eaten fried chicken in almost a decade because it always hurts my stomach and just overall is unhealthy. I usually follow a dairy free diet but I also recently went gluten free too. I am visiting Dallas and I stumble across the origin kitchen bar because the cashews queso on the menu caught my eye. I didn't even realize how many paleo and gluten free options they had! I felt like I was a kid in a candy store. I literally could not decide to to get because for one in my life I had so many options to choose from!!! We ended up getting the Paleo chicken and waffles, the paleo pancake and a salad with paleo popcorn chicken. Everything was delicious, and the best part is I don't have to feel guilty about eating it. The popcorn chicken is my favorite, it's seriously so good! Since I had never been here I asked our server Drew a lot of questions and he was so helpful! Definitely will be back!!
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Have been eating gluten free for a little over a year now. I saw the menu offered a GF chicken and waffle dish and knew I had to try (it's been a year since I've had fried chicken) and I was not disappointed. The chicken had a great crunch and good flavor. Service was good. Friday at prime lunch hour was pretty busy and loud in there but that's expected.

Yelp
I don't like to make reviews unless there is a huge reason to. This place usually has decent food with a healthy undertone in its ingredients. However, I ordered the breakfast tacos today and became ill an hour later and have been bed ridden ever since. Not a fun experience for my one day off this week.
google avatar

Christian W.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere, I have had almost everything on the menu and I highly recommend it. It's a very neighborhood restaurant.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Service was very bad, our order wasn't taken until about 35 minutes of being seated even though there were only 3 tables in the restaurant. The food was incredibly bland and it took a long time to get the food. Got the orange chicken and the chicken was very overcooked and the vegetables didn't taste like anything. Sweet potato fries were just okay. There are better places in this area.

Leah ..

Yelp
Going to Origin is like going home to have brunch with the family. The food is 10/10 and the staff is always welcoming. Andrew has been our favorite bartender for years! He makes incredible drinks and coffees! Juan is always one of the first to greet us and take our drink order. He's always on top of our needs. The top reason that keeps us coming back is the manager Rolando. He is an exemplary leader, so kind and always ensures we have the absolute best experience! This has been my go-to brunch spot in Dallas. They have amazing food and are very astute with dietary preferences and restrictions. They have many vegetarian and vegan options, including a cashew queso dip. Delicious! My favorite dishes include: Açaí bowl with spinach, naked lemon pepper wings, and hot oat milk vanilla latte with MCT and collagen. The staff is friendly and they are always helpful with questions about the menu and their recommendations. I highly recommend Origin, especially for brunch. They do get busy so making a reservation beforehand is a wise decision.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Expensive but good Brussels salad & brunch bowls that you can customize. The coffee is great too. I recommend getting a reservation (open table).
google avatar

Dipesh P.

Yelp
Super delicious and could be super healthy. Stopped by on a random Sunday morning and we had no issue snagging two seats at the bar. It was packed though so I'd recommend making a reservation for this spot. I love everything about this spot. The food itself is tasty and inventive. We got the cashew queso to start and it was super good. We added the short rib and it definitely made it pop. I got the chorizo omelette and it was perfect. It had a little crisp on the outside which I always can appreciate from a texture perspective. The fries are to die for and you won't want to stop eating them -- could be a good or a bad thing. My dining partner got the tacos and they were huge! He couldn't finish it all but not for a lack of trying or their taste. We also did a couple of pints which definitely removed all options for this being a healthy brunch! They have a good selection of beer on tap and their cocktails look good as well. Legit bar set up. Would highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
Great service, clean food no bad oils. Great place for folks that want to consume quality grade meals.

Yelp
This place is packed even on a Monday afternoon and for a great reason! They have healthy, seed oil free food with a cute little atmosphere which makes it a popular spot for a breakfast or brunch any day of the week! A colleague and I went here and our waiter was very nice and attentive and provided great options for top sellers on the menu. My colleague got the Cobb salad with popcorn chicken which she loved and I got the sweet potato hash bowl with half Brussels sprouts and added the pasture raised chicken, it was to die for! The perfect brunch it also came with the creamiest scrambled eggs, and the potatoes and brussels were perfectly seasoned. Would definitely go back here when I'm back in Dallas! Tons of unique drink options too. I got the bottomless drip which I wasn't a huge fan of but heard that the bullet proof coffee here is a must

Christina R.

Yelp
Great service, great food, great drinks! We ordered the Buffalo chicken salad, the burger, and the margarita. All the staff members were very attentive. No complaints!

Sage L.

Yelp
Just dined in today and Dakota was an awesome server we had! We were celebrating a double birthday and some of us had dietary restrictions. She let us take our time deciding what we wanted and was great at giving us some stellar recommendations. We will be back again to request her awesome service : )

Haley S.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite restaurant, as I have celiac and there are very few safe places to eat in Dallas. However, I feel like quality has gone down and prices have gone up. I ordered a salad and fries to go, was charged a to-go fee, and also was charged a credit card fee. My entire meal came to over $40, and my salad had three small things on it- tomatoes, bacon, and cold popcorn chicken + a very small fry. I know prices have increased everywhere, and quality ingredients are so important, but $40+ for a tiny salad and fries and still hungry is a little wild!

Madi S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the paleo/gluten free pancakes. What a treat! The toppings were great and unique. Coffee was fresh. I was served at the bar on a busy Sunday during brunch and the bartenders did a great job serving those of us at the bar quickly and seemed to know some of the other patrons who must've been regulars. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. As a visitor it felt good to be in a new place with friendly people around and a bustling establishment.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Rules keep changing. It's the Asian girl working the checkin. The bar has always been open seating. Every weekend she says there is a waitlist, they don't do call ahead, but no one is waiting for bar seating. Then today we walked in at the same time as another couple. Walked to the bar and sat down. We were asked to move as the couple that stopped to talk to the host was sat as they were "next for a table." We literally walked in at the same time. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Grace J.

Yelp
Wouldn't go back to this restaurant. The food seemed really good but once I got my order I found a small cockroach in my salad. They comped our whole order which was nice and offered to remake the food but our appetite was pretty much gone after that. They tried to tell me it was a fruit fly but it definitely was not. They need to make sure they are really cleaning the produce.

Yelp
I've returned several times and have had a far better experience every time. Their menu never disappoints and to know that you are eating delicious food made with good ingredients is a rare treat for restaurant dining. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Gray quality farm-to-table restaurant with lots of healthy options for vegan, vegetarian, and paleo diets. Absolutely loved it and at a great price. Must go again!

Yelp
I've been here before and liked the food. And what we had was good (the queso is excellent), and I understand that issues come up sometimes, but last night there was a kitchen fire. A minor one, but they couldn't use the stove. The problem is that our reservation was at 6:30 (we were on time), and we left at 9:30 because they served our food almost an hour after we initially ordered. They had this kitchen issue and didn't tell us until 45 minutes (!) after we ordered that they had a problem. We didn't know! Then, we had to re-order new things that didn't need to be cooked on the stove, so we ended up not eating what we wanted originally. The server was not very friendly nor attentive to start with (had to ask for water refills), and she should have relayed the problem to us early on. Instead, she left it to the manager who did apologize, but compt'd nothing. When I asked the server why, she took the queso off, but I shouldn't have had to ask. She should have also apologized and presented us with that on her own and been our advocate to the manager. To say the least, it was not handled well. I'm hesitant to go back. Like I said, I understand that these things happen, but tell your customers immediately and then make it right with kindness, attentiveness, and a little compensation. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Sat at the bar, no wait. Grabbed a couple of drinks and hummus before our dinner plans. Cocktails were really good and service was on point. Would stop by again

Yelp
Please share this with other customers. My daughter and I ate there on Saturday Jan 6, 2024. The service was excellent. We had made a reservation so there was no wait. The menu had something to please everyone, with multiple choices. My daughter picked the mixed vegetable bowl with lime jasmine rice. She also added chicken. I ordered the almond and avocado and spring green salad and I also added chicken. Both plates were so savory that between bites I could hardly wait for the next. I usually get ranch dressing for my salad, so he brought me ranch dressing and another which was almond avocado vinaigrette. It was fantastic, and that will be my new go- to dressing. A million blessings for whoever brought this place to be, because it is wonderful.

Yelp
Very good food and service! We've been here twice for brunch and each time was excellent!

Yelp
Service 10/10. Food 10/10. Ambiance 10/10. First time at this place and was so impressed. Best vegan queso I have ever had! I love their focus on clean ingredients without restricting all of the food groups and macro nutrients. Would highly recommend! We got the queso with root chips, cauli rice and veggie bowl, and my boyfriend got the shrimp and grits.

Yelp
Great food, questionable sanitation practices. While sitting at the bar, we saw two different cooks use their personal cell phones by the grill, then use the same hand to plate the food. Origin is one of our local favorites, but this was a pretty disappointing experience. If this is what they do in front a full row of customers, I question what happens outside of eyesight. I'm sure this happens at many restaurants, but I hoped that Origin would be different. We love the quality ingredients and great tasting food, but these poor kitchen practices make us unlikely to ever come back.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday. Very loud small place. not particular clean looking -bug crawling up the wall by our table. The food is not bad but not a pleasure to eat in a chaotic place.

Yelp
I was searching for a brunch place in the McKinney Uptown area on a Friday morning. Found that Origin Kitchen and Bar was nearby and open for brunch on Friday. I also looked at the excellent reviews on Yelp and photos. I needed a brunch place, which had a varied menu, sufficient parking, and ADA accessibility. Origin fits the bill on all counts. It is easy to get to. Plenty of parking spaces were available at 10:30 AM on a Friday. The ADA ramps are in the back parking lot leading directly into the rear door of the restaurant, which is the reception area. Two of us were greeted promptly and seated right away. There are plenty of booths, Four Tops, and bar seating, viewing directly into the open kitchen galley. The atmosphere is casual. The open kitchen concept has bar seating in front of it. Open ceilings are high, well ventilated and include speakers playing music around the restaurant. The food and beverage menus are descriptive and offer many choices. Most food ingredients here are locally-sourced, I ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice for $6.50 and it was perfect. My main was a perfectly chargrilled free range beef burger with shoestring fries, and a fried egg on the side. Let me tell you that was one of the best $18 burgers I've had in a long time. Worth every penny in today's costs. The burger was charcoal grilled. Furthermore, the taste of the beef was excellent and exuded high-quality. Moist, to temperature, and thoroughly cooked yet tender. My burger had cheese melted on top, which was a quality white cheese. It also included thick cut bacon, which was perfectly crispy even though the melted cheese and onions were on top. And I must mention that the my selection was served with housemade ketchup, I appreciate that ketchup since it is much better tasting and wholesome than any bottled stuff. In summary, this is the best bacon cheeseburger I've ever had. My date had an egg white omelette served with 2 fresh avocado slices. She commented that it was unbelievably good. I had a taste of it and confirmed that it was outstanding. Light, fluffy, and tasty omelette. For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse. It was nicely presented topped with a blackberry, pecan pieces, and a strawberry slices on top. The only issue was that it was served too cold, and therefore too stiff. But the flavor was nonetheless good and we finished it. Our total food bill was $63 for two people. I consider that reasonable for today's food prices. Note that the food here is such high quality, uses locally sourced ingredients, and is individually prepared to order. Service here was very good. It seemed our wait person had charge of reception and all the tables on this Friday. He did very well circulating and keeping everyone happy. He did an excellent job explaining the specials for the day and also giving us details on the menu items and how they could be modified according to anyone's dietary needs. I believe this restaurant really does a super job catering to anyone special dietary needs. I noticed several couples seated at other tables had ordered the champagne Mamosa special service. It seems very popular and fun to share. I will definitely try that next time as the pricing is very reasonable.

Yelp
We love eating dinner here! The brunch service and food is very different than dinner. I'm not a huge fan of their brunch items. The waiters are kind once they get to know you and the space is small so you get pretty fast service. We love eating clean good quality food and that is what you can get here. They cater to people with food allergies and if they don't get your order right they will fix it. I love the Orange chicken, the burgers are really good, and the enchiladas are a fan favorite. We mainly come here for dinner and love bringing our friends. The price of the food is high but it is very fair considering the quality of ingredients. Great for people who don't eat wheat or seed oils and lots of vegan and vegetarian options. I also love their mixed drinks! The flower child is my favorite! On weekends you will likely want a reservation.

Yelp
My sister and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Amazing Food & Services. The meals were plenty of food, very delicious, and a good price. The service was fast and they were very friendly. Great menu. The food was fantastic and they had a full selection of healthy "paleo" type food choices. Finally a restaurant that serves good clean food. we still had a lovely time and would definitely return.

Yelp
I have wanted to eat at Origin for such a long time. Drove in from out of town and made a point to come here because of the wide variety of gluten free foods. We ordered a cocktail and appetizer, though at 7pm, they were already out of ingredients to make one of the menu cocktails. We had a reservation but it still took a while to be seated. Host was not personable or inviting, it felt like us arriving for a reservation was an inconvenience, like he didn't want to be there. Waiter was socially awkward and couldn't get away from us fast enough, so it's a good thing we never needed refills. It was so hot inside so idk if something was broken or if it's just always hot, but it was too hot to get more than an appetizer. Side note, single stall bathroom had unpleasant odor and unflushed toilet, but based on staffing they probably don't have a designated cleaner with the time to check for cleanliness for patrons. Being able to eat fried food faves that are gluten free was a treat. It's a shame the service and ambiance was so poor, we probably won't return. The food was the only reason for 2 stars.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. (Most everything) gluten free, but you'd never know. Love the planters.

Yelp
We love Origin but we've not been able to enjoy it recently. The last 2 times we've been, there have been bad odors throughout the restaurant. The first time, it seemed like a sewer issue. The second time, it seemed like a chemical smell to cover up the sewer. I hope they can get this under control so we can come back.
