Original Tommy’s Hamburgers

This is LA's iconic spot when it comes to chili dogs. I've have eaten their entire menu at their original spot in Temple. They have lots of free parking. Outdoor seating only. Staff were helpful and friendly.

After seeing Tommy's in many movies. Hearing about The Original Tommy's of California. I was driving to Arizona through California. I set the GPS to take me to the closest one. Great, only 10 miles out of my way. So off I was. Couldn't wait. Made my order and received it quickly. Wow. This is the world famous Tommy's. Lmao. What a disappointment. They may be world famous from being in many movies, it definitely isn't due to their food. If you haven't gone, don't waste your time. If you look hard enough. There is a burger in there.

Clean facilities and quick service. Food was just like I remember, delicious. Definitely worth checking out.

Great customer service. The guy who took the order made sure I was aware of the current deals so I could maximize my purchase which was extremely helpful and appreciated! The cooks also made some of the best Tommy's food I've had!

$2.49 chili cheese fries year round? Maybe I’d come back that was fun! :)

Don't get me wrong used to be excellent taste years ago. Todays is gone but still Ingo.once a year to eat the delicious hamburgers. Sadly, only in cities close by Manhattan the real taste is there. Where is the money better better things

We are 3 minutes away from Tommy's but I never try. Last week, they had a promotion and they told us to check their social media when they announced the promotion some other time. It is delicious 😋

The Tuesday afternoon no better place to go for a quick lunch. The sun, the air, a serendipity experience when sitting here, and for the early memories around LA in my college years visited Tommy’s as well.

I always love a great Tommys burger. I would highly recommend the chili fries. If you have not tried the tamale, I think you will be in for a treat.

I had pick up order from this restaurant only 2 items. They helped all customers besides me. And then I had to cancel that order. Instead punish me honest person should be better before touch the food wash the hands after change the plastic bag of trash can . After see that for me normal that they didn't want help me. I can't expect something nice from people that level!

Classic burger and endless chili options ! Chili burger, fries, tamale , bucket of chili ! Simple menu little pricey for the combos. Old school thick fries ! Lots of onions and pickles. Got the chile tamale and other was a heaping lump of chile and tamale masa old school would not order again. Classic burger was mehhh

This is my go to cheat on diet place! I've never been let down with the food or service. The staff here are always polite and pleasure to talk to. A little bit of chit chatting with them really brightens their day.

I have to make this stop while I'm in California.. so far only unique to So Cal. The taste has so far been always what I remember, warm chili on two hot hamburger patties with a thick juicy slice of tomato, sprinkled with onions. The Eagle rock one I went last night had a drive through, the service was fast and good , I was given extra yellow peppers. Even though this is a new location to me the ambiance is very similar to the original location with the red roof.

I've been to so many Tommy's before and I haven't been disappointed, but today I got grossed out

Oh Tommy's, how I love you so--but as I've gotten older, my stomach seems to like you less and less! Nowhere is it more fun to grab a late night bite of hot, cheesy chili cheese fries and a messy chili cheeseburger than this decidedly un-fancy, non-pretentious burger stand on Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock. This is a place that knows what they're good at--their food--and doesn't put too much effort into things like ambience, overly friendly service, or amenities. You know that things are about to get messy when your meal comes with a small stack of paper towels! My favorite dish here since childhood has been their one-of-a-kind chili cheese fries, featuring thick-cut fries, a ladle full of slightly spicy no-bean chili, and a slice of American cheese served in a little boat in a cardboard box. The nostalgic taste, coupled with just the right amount of heat from the chili, the cheesiness, and a little messiness can't be beat. Their breakfast burrito featuring chili and a crispy hash brown are an unexpected surprise as well. Lately, they've upped their social media game and now offer periodic coupons/special offers on their IG and Facebook pages, so follow them for sporadic special offers--many of which are a great opportunity for a cheap and delicious meal! Tommy's accepts credit card and Apple Pay as well for your convenience! So overall: -The Good: Affordable, delicious food. Just a little messy, probably just a little unhealthy, but their chili game is strong here! -The Bad: Lines can be long and parking spots are hard to come by here! -The Ugly: No healthy options to be found here. Bring a Tums or some Pepto Bismol if you've got a sensitive stomach. You have been warned :)

I'm so disappointed with the price vs the portion of food I paid 14 dollars for a combo and the burger was microscopic. It's unfortunate I've always enjoyed Tommy's but I can get better value somewhere else.

I ordered here and it looked good until unwrapped my burger and all the centres of the pickles were missing. Don't tell me a alien did this so disappointed

I came back today for the Tommy hamburger special. Lizzette was super nice and very helpful. She made sure my order was right as they shorted me one hamburger and she caught it

Food as always delish! But when did they change the cheddar cheese. . To the fake cheese . Wont ever have cheese on any items! Gross!

Brought the kids to experience what we did back in the day but it wasn't what we remembered. The kids even said that it was probably better after drinking all night. lol. .

The Best!! To say the least. I've been coming here since 1977 and always have loved eating here. The Old School Drive In to order is still there. Some of the best Burgers in town.

We moved to St Louis several years ago, but I still crave Tommy's chili cheeseburger (with extra chili, please) with their golden fries and a bunch of those hot yellow peppers on the side. Best chili burgers in the world!!

I Haven't had a Tommy's burger in decades. I used to go to the Original. Late one night I decided to have one for nostalgia's sake. Unfortunately, it was only faintly close to the original. Same ingredients, etc but it didn't fulfill me at all. Definitely not the same. But it is still so messy.

Good, fast and cheap! Clean and friendly too! Skip the chili and get a cheeseburger! Simply delicious!!

My go to Tommy's for when I get that LA Tommy's chili burger craving vs driving down to the original in LA. Still has the nostalgia like the original one with its little driver thru and patio seating. A classic since 1946 that I remember many times enjoying a Tommy's burger on the way to/from a dodger game.

Today I went the other direction !!! I went for the best burgers with chili and cheese and chili cheese fries. Wow this place is doing well these days. The chili sauce is almost as good as the one in LA. On Beverley. Amazing food here thank you for quenching this craving. Staff is beyond kind and happy. I appreciate you all. Thank you. Came twice in one week and will continue coming. Best burgers in town with a smile.

Tommy's Burgers... 1st visit! (6/6/21) * I have heard of Tommy's and driven by a few Tommy's locations over a lifetime of living in Southern California, yet I had never been. I finally made my first visit! I got the Caliente Burger. It has the perfect amount of spice! They give you a lot of food! If I ever go back, it will be for chili cheese fries. I would also like to try out their cones. * They weren't horribly busy during my visit and it took them some time to prepare both my friend's and my order. So, be prepared to have that as a possibility for you as well. There is a dining patio to the left and another one to the right... Pretty tidy too.

BAND AID IN MY FOOD. June 2, 2023 at about 5:30 PM I ordered 3 double chili burgers and 2 chili fries. I made sure to tell the cashier to not add cheese on everything. I have stomach issues when it comes to dairy so it was important that they get it right. She repeated the order and it was correct. I went home and saw that there was cheese on the chili fries and I was disappointed to see that since I live a couple miles away and the traffic is terrible around that time. I decided it wasn't worth the drive to go back there and ask them to replace it. I just decided to eat some of the fries underneath the chili since it would be a waste just to toss it. I would've been fine with just that, HOWEVER, there was a LITERAL USED BANDAID on the bottom of the fries. This was unbelievably disgusting and UNSANITARY. We literally had to drive back to this location and ask for our money back. We talked to the manager and she gave us our money back, but she took the receipt and just threw the food away in the trash. It seemed like she just wanted to refund the money back quickly and deal with the other customers since it was busy day. Seems like there were no repercussions to the workers who made my food and it really makes me question their cleanliness/health standards. We complained, asked if they prepare all their food with gloves and they just looked at us with a blank stare, didn't say anything. Like I said, I ate some of the fries and since there was a bandaid in there I do not know if I'll get sick now or contract some kind of disease. This is not what I expected from a food business that has been serving customers for years. Do NOT eat at this location unless you want a surprise BANDAID in your food. I legit have never written a review for any business. Unfortunately, my first review on yelp is for Tommys. Seeing the BANDAID made me feel so unbelievably disgusted and I think you understand why I give this place such a terrible review. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Update June 3, 2023. After posting the bandaid I found on my instagram story and tagging originaltommys, they decided that blocking me was the best course of action. Instead of apologizing or making things right, that's how they decided to handle the situation. Looking back, it seemed like the manager at the eagle rock location did not want to make a big deal out of it since there were a bunch of customers that were waiting in the drive thru. They should have been grateful that we did not cause a commotion, as we tried to keep it professional. If we had gone around showing every single customer what we found in our food, I'm sure they would be just as disgusted as I was from the sight of the used bandaid. It's clear that they lack proper food safety measures and it begs the question of what other sanitary issues are happening while food is being prepared. Gloves are clearly not used when preparing food. If gloves were used, then this situation could have been easily avoided. Proper food safety/handling should be of the utmost importance when preparing food. People should not have to worry about getting sick due to foreign objects being mixed in with food. It's utterly disappointing to know that a company that prides themselves in serving the community for countless of years is not treating their customers with common decency. I would have returned to their other locations as a valued customer if the originaltommys apologized/alleviated my situation, however it seems that by blocking me, they do not want to deal with me.

The bun says it all. It was stale and cracked. Please see the pic I posted. I paid about $18 for this "lettuce" cali burger that had half a pound of meat, no drink and chili cheese fries. Regardless of how much meat they put, there's no flavor to the meat. The buns were so stale I just took it off and ate it with a fork. Basically had a salad. Everyone laughed at my lettuce "burger" that was actually a salad with croutons in disguise. I wanted to give Tommy's a chance again years after my first horrible experience and I did and I'm glad because now I know to never come back. The service was super friendly though and I liked how much parking and tables with proper lighting they had. Chili cheese fries were warm which is why I gave it 2 stars but it only tasted like chili, you could just get chili and have the same experience. With all the new smash burger places serving flavorful meat that's properly seasoned and never frozen, there's no reason to come to Tommy's anymore unless you want to pay much more for a horrible "burger" and go home unsatisfied.

I just left the restaurant in Eagle Rock and now I feel a medicine taste in my mouth after eating a chili cheese dog, and a family said the same thing after having lousy service from the cashier. They even forgot to give us the beverage that we paid for. Shame on Tommy's for treating their customers like this. They have been around far to long to have poor quality of food and service.

Anytime you visit a Tommy's world famous location you were going to get the kindest people to serve you and the most delicious burgers, chili cheese fries, and even soft serve ice cream that will make you smile. You can never go wrong with an original Tommy's!

I ordered a chili cheeseburger with the chili on the side because it was being delivered. The delivery came with no chili and a cold cheeseburger. I tried to call several times and there was no answer. Waste of money. Pay attention to the order employees. People go to Tommy's for the chili.

PIT STOP ! Real cool hamburger store chain known for it's very flavorsome burgers. We were up in L.A not that long back. My wife and I popped in here for a break. GREAT BURGERS !

Great price and great hours. Unfortunately, the compliments end there. The buns are too thick and dry for the amount of burger inside of them that just throws the ratio off. The pickles aren't acidic enough and most of the toppings slip out of the bun when eating. The only way I'd eat this again is if it is the middle of the night and there is nothing else open.

Ate at cross country workout it's very good burgers. Thin patty for mine but a lot of chilli, I like it

We ordered 2 Chilli cheeseburgers and an order of fries last night around 830pm Got home , ate them and about an hour later I wasn't feeling OK. Within 2 hours the two of us were sicker than we've ever been. Without being to descriptive, we have not been able to leave the house in over 20 hours. It's not our first time at this Tommy's, but after this, I don't even want to smell another Tommy's again. I've always heard about food poisoning before , but this is worse than anything I could imagine. I hope we get better soon. I'm tired of drinking water and pedialite. Thought I'd post as soon as could so no one gets the same batch of whatever the hell it was that was in our burger.

This place was introduced to me years ago and I love it. My family lives up the street and it's the first and last place I go every time I come through. Recently I bought a corvette in Sam Francisco and drove it straight there to eat dinner with one my friends from Texas who lives out there. The chili. It's so thick. It's so good. Those little yellow wrappers holding in all that greasy goodness. I love Tommy's. This is everything you could ever want out of fast food. It's good, greasy, thick and you'll be overfull and wanting to go to sleep while still wanting to eat more of it. I love Tommy's. And the t shirts are cool too. You gotta eat this if you haven't before. This is my favorite place for chili cheese burgers and chili cheese fries. And they have Pepsi products which means Mountain Dew. I love this place.

Just went there today. I don't know if the they trying to save money or what barely put any chili on the burger not the same as the original on Rampart and I live by Rampart! No good

Past 11 PM you're limited to tacos, burgers, and burgers. This location is my favorite because they never get my order wrong, they don't over do it with the chili, and it's in a safer neighborhood. The staff is friendly and you can customize your order. If you've never had chili, you won't be disappointed; just TRY IT. * Tommy's is best when it is eaten right away. If you take it to go, it will get soggy and I don't know about you but I don't like my food THAT soggy. Unless it's the fries, those are delicious when they're soggy. Be prepared for a food coma and a FULL stomach. Need to sober up? Recovering from a hangover? Hangry? Tommy's has got you covered.

When traffic strikes on the 210, get off and go to Tommy's! Who doesn't love a greasy spoon double chili cheese burger and fries?! This place is consistent with other Tommy's I've visited. The bun was soft, the burger patties hot, the chili & cheese, ooey gooey. Add a few peppers and s drink to wash it down. Yup! Service was fast. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Parking lot accessible. Drive thru speedy. Ample outdoor seating. Great job Tommy's!

They're your neighborhood burger joint, the kind you grew up with;thus it's like Home! After all these years and 101 burger joints that sprouted left & right , they're still dependable. Nothing like their hotdogs too with chili covering it. Nothing has changed, quality is still good!

You can never go wrong with Tommy's. Parking is a mess and it's always packed. Food is consistent. Usually I love a good chili cheese fry, but lately the chili burger has been hittin different. Service is quick and wait time after you order is short.

The lady and fellow at the register said that I can only complete my order if I order two food items. Is this true? I never had this issue before and there were no signs indicating that I must purchase two items to order here... I ordered at the drive thru but when I reached the window I had to repeat my order. They didn't even start on it because they lost my order. The food is good and a Quick fix when you're hungry. The prices are affordable as well. -------------- MAKING AN EDIT: Im updating my review because i just checked my receipt and they didn't charge me for the fries. So I went online: Their special until the end f the year is that if someone purchases two items they get a free order of chili fries! I wish they explained that more so I wouldn't have left confused! Asked for light chili and I got a soggy greasy chili covered mess. Why did I choose to come here!? Never again...

There is a reason they've been around and loved by so many Angelenos for nearly a whole century, lol. Their infamous secret chili recipe that is a major staple of California. Very hearty, meaty and possesses this magical ability to extra toast/grill your bun and patty for yall crispy freaks. Most underrated item has to be their original old school tamales which they only have at certain locations Ive learned. Huge, super filling tamales that actually taste homemade and have a lot of meat and the corn layer isnt super thick as u would think but think twice as big as a regular tamale! Absolutely delicious, wish ya had em at all locations! And wish you guys opened later lol Im always hungry when youre closed. Most popular item is probably the chili cheese fries if I had to guess, would really love to see some onion rings or jalapeno poppers in the mix one day! I always end up getting the same thing, a double double combo with a rootbeer and regular fries, once on a while the chili cheese fries if Im starving or really munchin lol. Love you Tommys and I love this drive thru location near my place. Also, quick shoutout to my boy who hooked me up recently with a Tommy's gift certificate--this was the perfect gift to relive the best chili burger Ive ever had, thanks D!

Once every two or three weeks, I come here, and go to the drive thru. And I'm at the speaker waiting for at least 5 minutes. I'm watching the workers walk in and out, making eye contact with me, but not taking my order. Finally, when they do take my order, they have an attitude. It's not the same person, it's a mixture of the workers, sometimes it's a woman, sometimes a man, sometimes a kid, but it's always the same attitude. Like they don't like making the breakfast burrito or something. And I've left without ordering because i don't want to wait longer than 5 minutes. And sonetimes, while waiting to turn on colorado street, i see someone walking up to the window, and they served right away. Is it the drive thru thats their issue? Anyways, I'm done with the attitude. I'll make the drive to duarte, where they are friendly and help the drive thru as fast as the walk ups. It's dad that they act like this.

I highly WOULD NOT select this Tommy's to go to! Very disappointing what is has become! This was part of my high school years but it's become a complete dive! My goodness.....look at all this grease in the chili fries and my tamale!......I'm in search of nostalgia....not nitroglycerin!

In and Out may have the glory, but Tommy's has the heart. A California original. Burgers and fries and chili, what more do you need?

Sunday, May 22nd, Made the mistake of opting for this location as opposed to the original location on Beverly & Rampart. The hot dogs were awful, old and dry as if they'd been sitting out all day. Live and learn, NO more Eagle Rock location.

Get BOGOs about once a month, too! Good filling burgers, cooked to order! Some locations still have indoor dining!

If I could leave zero stars I would. Came here last night around 8pm with my family. It had been a long time since we've been here, so we made the trip out for a chili burger. It was a horrible experience. The guy taking orders was rude. He was in a black hoodie with NO mask. He had attitude the whole time. My order was ready and he was just standing in front of me while he was on his cellphone talking to someone. Took him a few minutes before he hung up to hand me my order. He didn't say anything after he handed me the box of food. We had a big order so I waited to get his attention to ask if that was everything. He turned around, looked at me and said "OKAY, BYE" like I was stupid. We parked and everyone started eating their food. We got 5 burgers, all of them were still RAW. Everyone was so upset by the service and food quality that no one ate. We didn't take it back because he wouldn't have even cared. Our whole order 5 chili burgers, 3 tamales, 2 chili cheese fries and drinks all went into the trash because everyone was upset. So about $70 wasted.

Fats good service. Delivered exactly what we needed and the staff working there was really nice. It is a small location so parking can be tricky, but other than that, everything is great

Yummy , yummy , yummy burgers! I love that this place is so close to my house. Tasty hot and so reasonable in price. The chili is the best I've had. The parking here isn't the beat but you always find parking. I've had the tamales, chile digs and chili cheese fries. All very good!!!!

Been eating here for years. I'm not a big fan of the "chili grease fries" and hardly ever order them but I got what I deserved. I'll stick to the regular fries. If you want a load of grease order these if that's your thing.
