Where To Eat Around The Forum

"What do you get when you have a born-and-raised New York deli owner with an affinity for Cajun food? Orleans & York Deli. The New Orleans/NYC combo spot seems like as terrible an idea as they come, but the jokes on us. Because in two short years, Orleans & York have built a rabid fanbase, three separate locations, and one of the best po’ boys you’ll get in Los Angeles. With it’s Inglewood location only a three minute drive from The Forum, look no further for pre-concert sustenance." - brant cox

Orleans & York Deli Review - View Park-Windsor Hills - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Orleans & York is a local mini-chain serving classic sandwiches from both NYC and New Orleans. The menu at this order-at-the-counter spot covers a lot of ground, so our suggestion is to concentrate mostly on the New Orleans side of things. And in particular, the po’boys. The shrimp po’boy is what most people are eating, but for us, the beef hot links with bell peppers and onions is the best sandwich here. And if they’re selling a dessert crumble at the counter, get it." - Brant Cox

It's one of my favorite chains in SoCal since I'm a sucker for great po'boys. This is my go-to place for such sandwiches. They offer a great selection of proteins for them (fried oysters are ny choice). Don't get it wrong, though, they also offer pastrami and other delui cut meats for your hero of choice if New Orleans seafood isn't your thing. I will say this isn't a cheap deli/sandwich shop at all. You can easily spend $35 per person if you get a small side and a drink. I always end up biting the bullet at the cashier after I realized how I ran up the bill when paying upfront.

The customer service was very poor and the cashier seemed very angry an unpleasant! The dirty rice gave me a up set stomach! I work for the City of Los Angeles and I always enjoyed the food. The experience lately was not great!

Read the reviews before visiting. THE MANAGER IS VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! I can’t see how shes in the customer service business. I was not a customer this particular day but she had no idea that I was not about to order from here. This actually does not matter at the same time. The way she spoke to me, I would not want anyone to come into contact with her because she is very disrespectful, maybe a racist as well. If you want this food I suggest you try another location. I will not support this location and suggest you think twice before you do!

I really enjoyed coming here with my family. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice. The worker who helped me and my family were very nice. The shrimp in the poboy was amazing, and my sister felt welcomed as a vegetarian with the vegan po boy.

Not sure how Betty became the manager, but she is very unprofessional and highly disrespectful. I spent $25 for 10 hot wings. I asked for buffalo sauce and she’s gonna tell me that’s an extra charge… I proceeded to let her know that the wings was very dry and they had no sauce on them. She proceed to give a very don’t care attitude so then I asked for a refund. Instead of her trying to make it right she then proceeds to process my refund …. and I’m thinking to myself you rather lose $25 then to give me one small sauce. I’m not going to spend my money at an establishment where customer service is very poor and if you are the so-called manager, then you should have better customer service than what you have. in the near future if I do come back I hope Betty can be more professional with her services as she is the face of the business when she’s on shift.

I pass by this place quite often. The smell of spices and good cooking finally lured me in to give it a try. Being raised within the inner city limits, I have an inner city look. Which usually gets me side eyed outside of city limits. Nevertheless, I felt the negative energy radiating from the woman who took my order while multitasking on the phone. Which I just assumed came from the way I looked. There were a couple of murmurs which seemed to be directed towards/ about me. But since I couldn't hear exactly what was being said, I dismissed it. Even when I completed my order she said the price in a way that made me feel as if she didn't think I could afford it, or was expecting me to complain about it. I shrugged it off. I'm used to this treatment. Usually in a different environment. Like Beverly hills, Santa Monica, or Marina somewhere. Not in Inglewood. The confirmation came when others walked in, she spoke loudly, clearly with a pleasant attitude and greeted them. Of course she was off the phone by this time, so I took it as that. Until the orders started coming out. 1 by 1 she handed people their orders with a smile. Thanked them for coming. And moved right along. When my order was ready. She called my name, sat my bag down before I could get to the counter and in a rushing manner said thank you have a good day. And turned away. Now, I have very tough skin. There's no way I'm going to take it personal. I gathered my meal, and left quietly... while thinking out loud "You hate me don't you?" My complaint is more about the item that was spoiled. I just wanted to first paint a detailed picture of the energy that was already in the air. Upon returning to bring back the coleslaw which was clearly spoiled. It smelled rancid. And you could see the coagulation from the mayonnaise on the top. Not only was I not given an option to pick another one or replace it for something else. She proceeded to insult my intelligence by stating "that's just the way it smells." Due to the fact it's "made with cabbage". And that's how cabbage smells. I looked at her like really. Knowing that I'm not going to argue, I just put on my best shit eating grin. Said oh okay. Thank you, have a good day. Threw it in the trash right there and walked away. Here's the kicker...in hindsight I noticed a small puddle of water next to the fridge from where the coleslaw came from. Indicating the refrigerant was leaking, or the fridge had stopped working at some point very recently. Causing the slaw to spoil. Which I'm sure she was aware of, because there was a yellow caution sign next to the puddle on the floor. Sucks, because I've seen a few foodies recommend this place. And I get it, no one's perfect. Some businesses have good days and bad days too. Equipment fails sometimes. I get it. Two old sayings come to mind, 1) Judge not, and though shall not be judged. 2). The customer is always right.

Honestly great place to eat. Pretty simple: many amazing sandwich choices for an affordable price. Dont expect a great dine in experience with the atmosphere but the cashier was very friendly and social. I would say almost a must try if youre around it.

Google
My palate becomes Fat Tuesday celebration every time I order from here!! Authentic flavors that will take you back to NOLA . Po’boys are made fresh and with great ingredients. My fav is catfish Po’boy warning ‼️ tho !! Massive portions and hot!! Straight from the fryer yum yum

Yelp
This is a delivery order. Orleans & York Deli, is a great restaurant for sandwiches, po' boys, and other delicious Creole creations. One of my favorites is the Shrimp Po'Boy. A delicious baguette stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, and some banging seasoned shrimps. I appreciate how the restaurant prepares the sandwich ever so perfectly. The staff really makes sure to keep my mouthwatering sandwich, safe and warm. This Po'Boy sandwich is a shrimp lovers dream, come true. Yummy

Yelp
Great po'boys. Definitely recommend. Worth the price. Call ahead so you don't have to wait long.

Yelp
Love the food! Service can be inconsistent depending on who is at the front, but the food is consistently good, so I'm settling on three stars. Let's jump right into this review. I have had the following items from the menu: 1. Catfish platter - flavor on point and fried just right, got a crisp to it. 2. Red snapper platter - flavor on point and fried just right, got a crisp to it. 3. Shrimp platter - fried to perfection! 4. Shrimp Poboy - this Poboy is put together nicely, shrimp in every bite, bread is thick but soft enough to bite, the lettuce and tomatoe with or without mayo brings the flavor full circle. 5. Pastrami sandwich served w/mustard, no pickles - my go-to and favor item to tantalize my taste buds with. 6. Red Beans & Rice - I like the texture and flavor of the beans served over rice. I personally like the beans are solid and not smashed, but that's a personal preference of mine. 7. Fried salmon burger - quite delicious but a small portion. 8. Banana pudding - not a fan at all, I prefer a smooth texture and consistency, this banana pudding is neither. Pros 1. Delicious food. I've been here countless times, and not once, I do mean, not once the food was subpar. Kudos for consistent freshness served each time. 2. Immaculately clean. Counter tops, bar stool seating, and outdoor seating are always clean. 3. Love the drink and pastry options. There are so many to choose from. I don't recommend the banana pudding. It's just not good. 4. Parking in the front, lot, side street, or across the street. That's a plus if you order to go or pick it up. Cons 1. While the food is consistently fresh, served hot, and delicious, the service is served cold most times. I'm not looking for all smiles and giggles, but the smug faces and attitudes are not acceptable. It's usual suspects, too. As a frequent customer, I've been met with more frowns than smiles. 2. This is not your neighborhood fish market, folks. You are going to pay for the freshness and hot served cat fish, fries, and coleslaw. Expect to spend just under $20 for a catfish platter. Due to customer service, I'm making a price a con. Good food + bad service = problem (for me) I cut back on my visits. Hopefully, when I return, the service and quality of food will match. If you are in the neighborhood or from the neighborhood, give this spot a try. Sending those who stop in positive customer service vibes. **Note - multiple locations, two in Inglewood**

Yelp
While there are vegan and vegetarian options, there isn't a veggie sandwich. If you select "build your own" meat is a requirement. I asked for my meat on the side because I really wanted a muffuletta sandwich, but the meat was on the sandwich. I'll pay the same price for a non-meat option but until it's on the menu, I'll skip ordering from here. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches.

Yelp
Food was very good and made to order so super fresh. The place is super clean. Not many tables to eat in, but a few outside. We were up that way to go to the forum, so we just ate it in car. We would totally go again and try something different. I had the Shrimp Po Boy. Shrimp seasoned well, large and fresh. Not greasy at all. The bread was good and fresh. Hubby had a cold sandwich The Harlem which he said was delish. It was so full of meat, a great value.

Yelp
First time...we tried the catfish po-boy, shrimp po-boy with hot link, and a cat fish platter. Cute location, very clean, and the food was great! Catfish might be the best I've found in LA, and the break for the po-boys was great too. Bread can make or break a sandwich and they found the right bread! Service was fast and professional. We'll be back

Derrick B.

Yelp
I bought a comb shrimp and oyster poboy and the food was not good . The oysters were jumbo pacific and milky and shrimp had no taste . I will try something else when I go back the next time . Definitely not southern style seafood.

Yelp
Great food, best Cajun food in town. Excellent customer service . Definitely will come back again
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service, delicious food, varied menu, and satisfactory parking availability. They have limited indoor and outdoor seating available - truthfully, I view this eatery as more of a "to-go" type of place. I would be happy to return here! P.S. If you prefer public transportation over driving, Metro's K-Line Downtown Inglewood Station is conveniently located across the street.
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
Great, fresh and delicious food! So many deli sandwich choices and po'boys too. I was home in Inglewood, CA visiting and my parents hipped me to this spot. I will always stop-in for a bite whenever I'm in town from now on. I had their spicy Cajun fries and Aunt Mary's pastrami sandwich. When I say good eatin', I mean good eatin'!

Yelp
If you happen to be in the area and are looking for some good Cajun cooking, stop by Orleans. I had the chicken and rice and beans and it was very tasty. A couple friends had some Po-boys and were extremely happy with them. Still very decently priced as well.

Yelp
Food is very good. Has shrimp po boi. Lightly breaded, decent amount of shrimp. Other food looked good and looked to be authentic. Hard to say. Little pricey but worth it.

Yelp
Good food, terrible customer service. The woman who worked the counter the morning of 9/23 needs to find another job bc her attitude sucks. We went to order food before our flight and spent over $100. She as short and made the whole process unpleasant. She instructed us to check the screen to confirm our order. Fine. But then we noticed that one of our beverages was off to the side. So we asked if she'd charged us (just to make sure we paid for it). Her response: "check the screen to confirm your order." Again we asked (thinking she may have understood) and again she responded "check the screen to confirm your order." Like a robot with an attitude. How hard could it for her to have said yes or no, rather than have us scroll thru a $100 order to find a juice. Just unnecessary. Good food is important, but good customer service is just as. She needs to remember that. Lastly, I asked her REPEATEDLY if the Soho has turkey ham (like turkey pastrami) or turkey AND ham. She assured me that it was "ham" made out of turkey. Turns out, the menu is just missing a comma. If you check the other restaurants, you'll see "turkey, ham, etc." I don't eat pork. Thanks a lot.

Yelp
If I could give this place more stars I WOULD The food was SO GOOD and had the best of the best quality. I tried two different subs and I could not choose which was better because both were incredible! Also had a side of the pickles and those were great too! The service is great , my food also came quickly and freshly prepared. I am definitely coming back. One of the best spots I've had in so long. They have other items that I've tried like the dirty rice , shrimp, hot wings , seafood etc. the menu has so many delicious items. The bread in the subs was also fresh! Highly recommend! 10/10

Navin H.

Yelp
Why have we waited so long to try this place?!?!? It was soooo good. As Texas natives we have visited New Orleans many times and this food is on point! We got the gumbo spicy, the Cajun fries, and the fried oyster and catfish combo po-boy!!! Everything tasted amazing! Can't wait to go back and will definitely recommend this place to everyone!!!
google avatar

Chivita G.

Yelp
We were really excited to try the salmon sandwich!!! When we got the sandwich is was catfish , it was still delicious. They have a lot of options for sides, drinks and desserts. There is a cute patio area to enjoy your meal.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
Food was good but we were not given what we ordered. They forgot one of the po boys and we had to remind them that we had three. We also paid for extra shrimp on all of them and we didn't find out until we got home that none of them had extra shrimp. They also randomly put vegan cheese on our fries. I had to check the order to make sure I didn't order this by mistake. I didn't. They just aren't paying attention.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I always get the same thing Fried Fish and Shrimp platter. Me and my mom have been coming here for years !! But to be honest, y'all put 4 pieces of shrimp on my platter with fish for $18. The food is delicious, I paired mine with some Hidden Valley Buffalo Ranch dip. And the peach crumble was amazing but I think if it had more of a crisp on top, more of an oat topping it would be better. The woman who helped me was so kind.c she gave me a sample of the Daily Special some Chicken Gumbo Soup, it was Devine.

Yelp
I came yesterday after arriving to LA. I was excited to grab a sandwich and head to my destination. It's been a long while since the time I ordered from here. I saw a mural on the side of the building and thought to myself I have seen this young lady around. Cut to- after I ordered I asked about the young lady on the mural. The reply was "SHE never worked here" as if I offended the cashier. I was so taken back as well as my person I was with. No no way I would offended anyone especially a loved one that's no longer alive. But that girl behaved as if I did. I thought the girl once worked there. She looked familiar. My issue is the customer service of the young lady was very poor and could have done better. If that was her sister on the wall. You should be professional if someone ask questions about why she's on the wall. Never know who would want to offer help for the family. She is NOT a good fit for the Orleans and York. I don't see myself coming back. The guy that took my order is very pleasant.
google avatar

KD D.

Yelp
First, let me say this this is not my first time patronizing York in Orleans. I had absolutely no issues with them UNTIL TONIGHT. There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned money on some food that does not taste good. I don't know when they changed the recipe for the batter on the fish but it has absolutely no flavor. The fries had no seasoning whatsoever. The fries were fried too hard and so was the fish. Texture of the fish was so bad I couldn't differentiate if it was chicken or fish. If it wasn't so cold outside, I would take this back and get my money because this is absolutely terrible.
google avatar

Giavanni G.

Yelp
Great Lunch spot, I always come for the po boys, and I love the soup of the day. Its moreso a take out spot, there isnt room to sit down per say. The fries & the cajun asian wings
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I was pleaseantly surprised by this place. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon and it was not busy at all. With a very open area, the place was clean and put together. The shrimp soup they had was amazing and dipping the bread in it was a great conbo. The fried shrimp po-boy was super amazing too. Im not really big into sandwhiches but amazingly, I truly enjoyed this place. Would recommend this for a quick bite.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
Great sandwich place! I was running an errand nearby, and checked out Yelp for lunch options. The interior is clean but very functional with tile floor and patio furniture. There are a lot of options on the menu. I went with the Hot Brooklyn. I didn't have to wait long for my order. The meat was so hot I had to let it cool down a bit.

Lori A.

Yelp
There is nothing worse than paying for a sandwich using a delivery service and paying twice as much for it than it's worth than not receiving the exact thing you ordered. Ordered from this deli today and requested a do your own and requested beef bologna, beef salami and turkey on a baguette. What I received was an abundance of turkey, very thin slivers of salami and NO bologna. I patronized their store on Slauson, and whether I called it in or did a delivery service, I always received what I ordered. No mistakes. They aren't at that location anymore, sadly. But what made the $25 I spent more painful is that the baguette was hard, not the same as what was at the Slauson store. I will not order from them again.
google avatar

Herv310 ..

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for years but I just can't anymore. I stoped by today and the lady at night was really rude. She must have forgotten where she was for a minute taking down on people in the way that she was. She shouldn't be working there if she doesn't like it. Also the shrimp and bread was hard on the Po Boy. Not worth the money at all, maybe that's why it was lonely. I'll take my money elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here before heading to the Saints/Rams game. Food was sooo good , a little pricy but way better than what they would serve at the game haha. Would come back regardless!
google avatar

Cena H.

Yelp
Catfish was delicious and plentiful. Took home bread pudding and pickles. That bread pudding soooo good. The crab bisque very flavorful.
google avatar

Andréa J.

Yelp
I loooove these sandwiches. Especially the salmon. Fries are always hot and everything tastes fresh.
google avatar

Shauna C.

Yelp
Pretty good. Great flavor. Over priced. My Cajun rice was very good! Had a catfish po-boy, not worth the cost; needed more fish for the cost. Being from the South, I'm biased.
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
First time eating here and I can say that I'm blown away by their food. Everything was hot and delicious. We ordered the Veggie Muffulettas, Verrazano Bridge Hero, Dirty Rice, and Banana Pudding. I can't wait to explore the great of their menu. Their food took us to scrumptious-town. I recommend that you stop by at Orleans and York Deli you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Shawn R.

Yelp
The service is always great when I go in. The food never fails me at all! The place is always clean

Sophia M.

Yelp
the food is excellent, they load you up with rice when you order the mumbo gumbo for $ 25.00 not worth it anymore. if you scoop off the toppings all you had was a big bowl of rice, very disappointed. needless to say " im out" befair on the portions. yes, everything is going up but don't mess over your faithful customers. the service was ok, nothing to write home about, the ambiance was nice and clean.
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
So happy to have found this place! Vegan BBQ wings on a stick of sugarcane - awesome! And super nice people working the counter. I'll definitely be going back!
google avatar

Yelp
No bananas nor cookies heres but tatste is decent. Packed with pudding filler mostly.

Yelp
Well was craving po'boys since I was in the area. I had their sandwiches about 4-5 years ago and they were darn good! Not sure what happened since then. I guess thing don't age like wine and get better. CS could have been better. As inquired about the items on the menu she was not very happy about trying to answer any of my basic questions...i.e.1) how are the fried pickles? Response: I don't know, it's a fried pickle I guess o-O.....2) can I get a grilled chicken po'boy? Response: No, but we can make anything you like grilled o-O..... So I opted for tenders, instead of trying to wrap my head around her lack of assistance. The tenders/fries were pretty good. The fries were a Cajun seasoned and just the right crispness. The tenders were standard freezer to fryer flare. I wanted to add sides, however, you had to select them before going to the register to pay and I wondered how fresh are the sides, stored for possibly days in the display. IDK..not going to find out.
google avatar

Erik M.

Yelp
First time eating here. Very good sandwiches. Would recommend to all to try this place.
google avatar

Julian C.

Yelp
I love their food! My go-tos are their chicken and clam bisque(with a half baguette or their roast beef and mushrooms sandwich. Other selections have been tasty as well. Nice clean place and nice outdoor seating. A definite favorite.

Infinite W.

Yelp
Very rude lady with brown hair at the front desk. Don't know who they hired recently, but unacceptable! Makes you not even want to come to this location. Have some respect and hospitality. Super small po boys here too! Crenshaw location is better.
google avatar

Kim F.

Yelp
I can't believe how stank this lady is at the register!!! I keep forgetting why I don't come here anymore. LOL I'm gonna start reading my reviews before I go to any place that I've been before. She's dry and super unfriendly. HEY y'all need to replace her with someone who has customer service skills!!!!! This guy came up and said he didn't get his cake in the bag and she told him you have to get it yourself read the sign it's on there. I said y'all got at least 9 signs ( that I just counted) who's gonna come in an establishment and stop and read all the signs!!! The correct response would have been I'm sorry about that you can just grab one. Have a good evening. I can't with rude broad with the resting b***face. No smiles

Sybil L.

Yelp
The food is always good and service is great If you're in Inglewood Area stop by and check them out you won't be disappointed

Yelp
I would give O&Y a 5 star review for their food flavor. This is a 3.5 in my mind due to some fixable customer service discrepancies. Now, I hadn't been to Orleans and York since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. It is now June 2022. I decided to stop by with a friend since we were in the area. I immediately saw one of my favorites on the menu: Cajun Potato Salad. So I grabbed one of those from the refrigerated display, along with an overpriced Calypso lemonade. I made it to the counter to order some Lil Hotties (O&Y's version of buffalo wings) and fries. But since I have never had them, I asked the cashier if I could sample the SAMI sauce. It basically looks like buffalo sauce, but not all sauces are created equal. The cashier at first denied me the sample (pointing me to the sign on the counter that said Sami sauce is 75 cents). But after a back and forth that lasted a few minutes, the manager gave me the sample. The sauce was delicious. However, when I received my wings ten mins later, there was no sauce to be seen. I ended up paying $1.50 for two half filled sauces that SHOULD have been on my wings. Fortunately, the wings alone were crispy and amazing. The price gouging was not. I will return to eat here, but it will be AFTER this encounter has faded from my memory.

Yelp
Super clutch place to get a Philly cheese. I only got the Philly this time to go but I also like the Cajun potato salad they have. The Philly cheesesteak majority of the time is packed with topping and a nice amount of cheese which is packed with flavors!!! Oh another this is the bread holds up even with all those toppings we all know nobody likes there bread falling apart.

Jay J.

Yelp
They have amazing Catfish Po'boy and Shrimp Po'boy. I also appreciate the different kinds of sodas they sell (Calypso!)
google avatar

Amber T.

Yelp
A solid 4 stars for me. I tried the Cali muffulettas and it was okay. There was too much olive salad in it for me and the saltiness of it overpowered the other flavors. I did like the bread and was glad the blandness of the avocado was there to help somewhat tone down the salt. The service was good and there is ample street parking and a small lot to park in as well. I plan to go back and try something else!
google avatar

Jill T.

Yelp
Love the Shrimp Po'Boy it's my favorite sandwich! Pricey but worth it The Mimi gumbo is good too nice to fine gumbo without pork in it.

Yelp
Had to have a CT scan performed nearby. I've been wanting to try this place for some time and when I looked up nearby spots Orleans popped up! I ordered the fried shrimp po-boy. All I can say is that it was probably the best shrimp po-boy I've had outside of New Orleans. The shrimp were super flavorful and crispy with the shrimp tender and perfectly cooked. Now onto a factor often overlooked, the roll. Legit. Not some processed garbage. They either make them in house or have a great vendor. The staff was super friendly. Also I noticed just how popular this spot was with the community. Numerous people came and went during my time there and many were greeted by name and also many of the customers knew each other as well. The staff also pointed out their cold cut sandwiches which looked on point. The sandwich itself was giant. $16.75 but worth every penny. It was my lunch and my dinner. Thankfully they deliver so I will be a regular for sure!

M S.

Yelp
Worst sandwich ever , I have been a loyal customer for years. They put enough balsamic vinegar on it to make it black and soggy. Hardly any meat, just a mess. There was nothing they could do about it when I called. The price goes up, but the quality goes down. O and Y have been going downhill for a while now. I'm looking for a new sandwich shop!

Diana J.

Yelp
All three sandwiches u got were so delicious! Tuna melt, spicy BLT, and mos was 10/10!

Yelp
I've been a customer since O&Y opened. PoBoys were $8 back then. I've never had a bad experience until today. The Moe's Special PoBoy was awful. Bread was stale, lettuce old and soggy, sausage was old. Nothing fresh about my sandwich. Huge turn off and not worth $18 plus tax. Do better management. We should get fresh food for these prices!
