This is a lovely and spotless place to sit and slowly sip a delicious drink created with skill. I loved the rocking chairs although I’m clumsy enough to have had to sop up a splash. A nice extra here is that if you have your dog along, while he can’t stay inside, he can come in for a free treat while you get your to go order. I noticed a couple groups of people meeting there for a long time, one group holding a business meeting in such a lovely place, and there was so much spaced they were welcome to do that. Also of note: the bathroom was as clean as everything else was. Loved the coffee with mocha and turmeric. Savored it for as long as it stayed warm.

Google
Decadent coffees and the chocolate is divine! We got the El Oro mocha and Mocha Aphrodisiac and both were perfect. The El Oro is rich and creamy and the Aphrodisiac has a peppery aftertaste that’s delightful and makes you want more. They have chocolate samples at the front and the chocolate is truly as rich as I’ve ever had. Great space too, we saw lots of people studying in the lively space on a Sunday morning.

Google
Oro was a cool cafe. I’d say it was a good one time thing though. Matcha was yummy but definitely pricey. Vibes were nice, a good study spot I suppose. Staff member was impatient and seemed angry, stepped away abruptly. A much kinder man finished our order without hesitation. I enjoy the chocolate tastings they had on display. I thought that was a sweet gesture.

I was blown away by the quality of the service, atmosphere and product served. Their drinks are served with nice tableware, trays and side glass for water. There is also a self-serve tap for sparkling, which is nice. There is variety of bar seating, bench seating and soft seating. The lighting is cozy with this really elegant lighting. I really appreciated the cleanliness and polished presentation the entire place has. They make a ton of their product in house, you can see a large open kitchen behind glass right as you enter, and they also roast their coffee in house as well. I ordered a cocao shot and and espresso. The first was which was a not-too-sweet champurrado-like thick chocolate drink. Their espresso was one of the best I've ever had. It's not for everyone as it's a very bright, flavorful, fresh and pungent citrusy espresso that clearly exhibits its single origin characteristics. If you're looking for a muted old coffee that is dark roasted to an indistinct profile to cover up with milk and sugar, you won't find that here. The staff here were clearly engaged, knowledgeable and enthusiastic for delivering a great experience and the products they serve. Lastly, LOTS of cafes charge more, upwards of $5-8 for an espresso drink with with trendy add-ons, garnishes and twists. I have no idea how Oro Cafe manages to offer such a stylish, comfortable atmosphere, better ethically sourced products, freshly made in-house (labor, labor, labor) menu items that all while being on par or cheaper than the competition.

Google
Staff friendly and efficient, coffee drinks and chocolate drinks were fantastic. Only reason atmosphere was four instead of five was there AC was down, but staff was great and place was clean and maintained

Google
atmosphere and service was amazing, however the matcha tasted very strange and the espresso was a bit off.

Google
Purchased a chocolate chip nut cookie and it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had!!! The first bite was salty, it has more of a nut taste than chocolate chip; the cookie also hard and dry a bit grainy. $5 bucks isn’t worth it there are better places in the city.

Google
It seems like a rotating baked good selection which is cool. I got the nougat pine cone which literally melted in your mouth. The chocolate seemed so pure and rich. It was amazing. I also picked up the chocolate chip cinnamon roll and while delicious as well, it was a bit dry and could use an icing or glaze to help out with the texture. Overall, the place looks like a sweet alternative to a coffee shop for those who are looking for a different experience. Also, there were both gluten and gluten-free options!

Yelp
Oro Chocolate and Coffee offers a winning selection of matcha, coffee and teas. I was excited to try a handful of items, to which neither disappoints! I tried their Eastern Rose Latte and Matcha-Chachio. I absolutely loved both drinks as well as their pistachios finacier. Eastern Rose Latte is a floral symphony of Pakistani Rooh Afza, Lebanese rosewater, and cherry syrup harmonized with our espresso and creamy milk. Matcha-chachio describes as a luxurious layered experience with creamy horchata and house-made pistachio paste embracing premium matcha for a multi-dimensional indulgence. I'd say this description is quite apt for this cold beverage. A decorded matcha tea drink. Let's talk about the interior design. This space is beautiful and modern-- a cohesive aquatic movement of gold guilded slats run from one wall, up past the ceiling to the other side of the wall. What I also really liked about this coffee shop is that each individual seating has a trio electric outlet: USB-C, USB-A and the US plug. Very attentive to detail for their consumers. I highly recommend those who are craving either chocolates or caffeine to drop on by!

Yelp
Gorgeous space with lots of comfy seating and tables to work at. Friendly service and delicious mocha drinks. There were no pastries there when we arrived but we were told there would be some later. A bit pricy but all good chocolate is these days. I'll have to come back for pastries and to get some chocolate for gifts.

Yelp
I initially rated this as 5 stars, but I'm now reducing it to 3. They have a rule against outside food in the shop, which is unusual compared to other coffee shops in Wicker Park, though I can understand it. I was working there for over four hours and decided to quickly grab some Cava from nearby. After entering and sitting down, a staff member walked over to me and informed me that outside food isn't allowed. I apologized and asked if I should leave and eat outside (it was 30 degrees outside, but I was willing) or if it would be okay to finish my food inside quickly. If the employee had simply asked me to leave, I would have done so. Instead, he kept repeating that the sign says no food is allowed in a tone and then walked away without further comment. The interaction felt a bit rude and I wasn't sure if he went to speak to a manager or something, so I sat there with my bowl closed for about 5-6 minutes waiting. Then, I approached another staff member who said it was fine to finish my food inside since it was cold. I apologized several times during this encounter for not knowing about the rule and said it wouldn't happen again. I visit many coffee shops in Wicker Park, and this has never been an issue before. It would be difficult to work from this coffee shop for extended periods of time due to their rule of no outside food.

Yelp
What a lovely little coffee shop. The design and decor is impeccable. The staff and owner are very knowledgeable. I want to come and work here in a regular basis. But most importantly their espresso was perfect. Most coffee shops in Chicago have no idea how to make a good espresso. This was in the top 5 I have had in chicago and that's saying something. I have had an espresso at hundreds of places in the city and this one impressed. I didn't sample their food items but I did taste their in house made chocolate. I love that they had samples. When you have high quality expensive chocolate, it's helpful to be able to taste it before you buy it as everyone's taste palette is different. I'll be back.

Yelp
Super cute space and the chocolate is made in house which is great! They also sell chocolate bars in store and have little samples for people to try their chocolate. However I hate that there are no prices listed anywhere. I paid about $10 for an oat milk mocha which had I known the price may have gotten something else. Also was super disappointed to find out their golden milk drinking chocolate has dairy. The first time I came I asked the barista if the drinking chocolates had any dairy and was told no because they aren't mixed with milk but the next time I came in was told the golden milk one actually does have dairy. As somebody who is vegan I am super upset that I drank dairy here the first time I came. There should be clear markings about what contains dairy on the menu for those with dietary restrictions or at least clear things for the baristas to be able to know when people ask.

Yelp
Oro Chocolate is always doing free samples of their products and today they were giving out free samples of their hot chocolate with oat milk. I will say I wasn't a big fan, but I like that they're always promoting their products to prospective customers. My boyfriend did stop in to get an iced americano coffee. He reported the coffee was really good and similar to coffee from Collectivo. Prices are pretty reasonable and comparable to any other local and franchise coffee shops. I really loved the ambiance and decor. I feel like a lot of coffee shops are hustling and bustling, but Oro was so quiet and chill. The whole place was also super neat and clean, which is always something I look out for. I tried some of their specialty chocolates and they weren't my thing, but overall super neat spot and I'd like to try one of their interesting pastries next time.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first visit to the cafe! There are a mix of seats that allow you to use this space to work or catch up with friends!

Yelp
Quick update. They now open a bit earlier at 930, which is dope. Their dreamsicle latte is my ultimate favorite drink, and you gotta get it to drink there, bc for some reason, it tastes better out of the glass. We went in on a rainy Sunday and they were out of the orange syrup, sad! So we got the strawberry matcha instead and omg. It was HEAVENLY, highly recommend the strawberry matcha!!

Yelp
This was my first visit to Oro and Duwand, the barista, was incredibly helpful and patient. The mocha he made was also AMAZING! I ordered the El Oro, and it was so rich and flavorful. The ambience of the place was also lovely.

Yelp
This space is absolutely gorgeous omg I would just love to come and hang out and drink coffee and study here all the time . I ordered the traditional mocha and it had very little of a chocolate flavor to it. I mean I might as well go down to Starbucks or another one of the many coffee shops in the area to get that flavor. The chocolate alone is great as I had one of the samples that was out . Staff was very nice and pleasant. I would say increase your ratio of chocolate a bit in the mocha. I am a true chocolate lover so make sure the people get that from the drink.

Yelp
The staff was friendly enough, but $8 for an iced coffee is insane. The store was very crisp and clean, just way too overpriced.

Yelp
A great cafe for yummy hot chocolate and remote work! Located in the heart of Wicker Park, Oro is a beautiful, brightly lit, sheek, spacious, and clean cafe. It has plenty of seating and tables. In the middle section of the cafe, there is a large high top communal table with a lot of space for laptops and drinks! There is also plenty of seating along the wall, where there are tiny tables that are perfect for a few cups, or one laptop. It's truly the size of a laptop, so your drink probably won't fit on it at the same time. The nice part of these tiny tables is that there is an outlet in between each one so plenty of spots to charge your tech! In the back of the cafe, there are a lot of fun chairs that are great for lounging and hanging out with friends! Those chairs don't seem as comfortable for working. I appreciate the variety of seating here. It is also great for working because it closes in the evening, while many other cafes close in the afternoon. I ordered a golden milk hot chocolate which was tasty, not too sweet, and not too thick. I really enjoyed it! Barista was friendly and made a great drink. I definitely want to come back to try the drinking chocolate and pastries!

Yelp
The golden milk chocolate is the best hotdog that I've ever had. They make their chocolate in-house... Sourced from sustainable farmers... Just overall amazing

Claire B.

Yelp
Great coffee in a beautiful space! It's a perfect place to work, lots of individual seats with outlets. Plus, they always have chocolate samples out.

Yelp
This place charged 8.95 for a matcha oatmilk latte which was a bit too steep and certainly not worth the lackluster taste. Considering my Cava bowl was 13.95 and I had a full meal from it, I will not be back here.

Yelp
Went with my friend. Got a mocha. Quality was sub mid. Price way too high. If you charge that high, the product would need to be above average quality. Just having an attempt at "nice ambiance" which is also sub par is not adequate .

Kevin H.

Yelp
Overpriced mediocre coffee served by snooty rude unprofessional service staff. Just awful. Avoid and go to any other coffee shop in the area.

Miles B.

Yelp
Great environment, really good mocha and enjoyed the free sample chocolate. Would recommend trying.
