This quaint coffee shop is wonderful, and it has the tastiest baklava I have had tasted yet in the Chicago area. Truly, it is incredible. I highly recommend coming here!! I also got a golden chai latte and it was the most perfectly spiced chai latte I have tasted here as well. Honestly a wonderful experience!

The cafe is very cute and rustic on the inside despite being right underneath the el. Space can be a bit limited seat wise if you want a sit down breakfast. That being said, I highly recommend the breakfast nan. While the breakfast burrito was ok… the nan was delicious. Their interesting baked goods look fairly delicious as well. In terms of their coffee… they do have quite unique mixes and different nut milks other than the traditional ones you find at most cafes. I enjoyed how the staff excitedly explained the different nut milks, latte concoctions, and the Turkish coffee they had. The enthusiasm alone will have me coming back for more.

Visited Oromo for breakfast with friends, the food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the cafe itself had a cozy atmosphere, we loved it! My personal favourites were the breakfast naan, cookies and their frozen blends, they are like healthy organic version of frappuccinos😋🤩

A charming coffee shop that specializes in Turkish coffee and snacks, but also offers a wide variety of teas and coffees. I tried their matcha, and it was fantastic. I absolutely loved the cozy atmosphere and can't wait to return!! Thank you Oromo Cafe. 🇹🇷❤️

Such a cool little coffee shop with Turkish coffee and TONS of creative other coffee drinks and tasty bites. The pesto mint goat cheese panini is unreal good

Great Cafe with a Mediterranean flare, unique coffee drinks and a good selection of special pastries and small plates. Especially the pastries, I've not found anything like them at any other Cafe. A fair number of items do contain nuts, but there's enough options if you're allergic. I wish they had Turkish coffee on the menu, they sell the stuff to make it at home.

Really good cafe! I’m not really a coffee shop person but I did enjoy my time here. I had an iced matcha latte and it did not disappoint. I also have allergies to several of the menu items and they were careful to keep that in mind. I’ll definitely be back and try more items.

Oromo Cafe Bucktown catered food for a friend's baby shower of ~12 people and I am so grateful to Leyla and her team for making it happen! The food was delicious, which included: two different types of bagel sandwiches, spinach & feta triangle bites, and beet hummus! Leyla offered three menu options within my budget to start, noting we then worked together to come up with a final menu perfect for the shower. For those of you who think Oromo Cafe is only a cute coffee shop....think again! Give their catering a try! Thank you!!

You can get an oat milk latte almost anywhere in the city but the only memorable one you'll have is from here. I came for the pastries (rosemary blueberry scones live in my brain) but the coffee was noticeably delightful. The pistachio latte is insane and something I go out of my way to get here. Right under the Ohare western blue line station, across the street from a Starbs that you'll never need to visit again. Plenty of seating and outlets inside to park with a laptop but if you get there too late in the morning you may not get your first choice seat.

Great little cafe tucked under the Western stop! Oromo is very open with tables along the side, a few bar seats and a communal table in the center. While we only just dipped our toes into their offerings, I can tell the rest of the menu is also high quality! As a lactose intolerant person, I am blown away by their selection of house made nut milks for their lattes! I opted for a pistachio rose latte which was lovely because it was not too sweet and had the nice subtle flavors one would expect. We also got the breakfast naan and pesto egg bagel. Both of which were delicious but the breakfast naan stole the show! I can't wait to try some of their Turkish coffees and paninis for lunch! Service was quick and friendly! We just ordered at the counter and received our food and drinks fast. They also have WiFi and reusable tableware and mugs for dining in!

Oromo Cafe has another location in Lincoln Square, but the visit to that location wasn't a pleasant one. We were in the area, and decided to give this location another try. We ordered: +a cafe latte with almond milk +and Hazelnut Horchata Latte - prepared with housemade toasted hazelnut milk, rice milk, coconut milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and espresso +a potato-filled pogača I really enjoyed the Hazelnut Horchata Latte - it was strong, creamy, and delicious! The pogača was heated through, but the exterior was a little too thick and hard. The filling was also more bland and kind of 'chunky'. Staff were kind, but they did totally forget to make us one of our drinks. There's a handful of seating inside, and I loved how they utilized the space to make it look more open and spacious. They had some local artists' goods that were for purchase as well as coffee beans. Limited street parking available in the area. +Hazelnut Horchata Latte +limited street parking available

Visited this coffee shop one morning to get some coffee and breakfast and to get some work done. I appreciate all of the tables with outlets that are available, making it a great place to hang out and work! I tried the iced pistachio & rose latte and the iced coconut & caramel latte. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of either of these drinks. I couldn't taste the flavors very well for either of the drinks, so I wasn't a fan. For the food, they have a breakfast menu that isn't really visible on their large menu above the counter, but on a paper menu at the cashier. I ordered a bagel sandwich and a caprese panini. Both of these sandwiches were filling and tasty.

The people here are lovely and the food is good but don't come here if you're in any sort of rush as they get busy and overwhelmed. I had 30 minutes before a class and that wasn't enough for a latte and a pastry out of the case :( But they were really nice and gave me a consolation pastry for my time. Everything here has been really tasty! Just not ideal if you have anywhere to be afterwards.

This was the meeting spot for a group run I did recently, so I got cold brew after the run. There were a lot of us, so it was a long line but it moved quickly and the staff were friendly. The cold brew here is amazing - some of the best I've had in Chicago. Just so good. That's the only thing I got so can't speak about anything else but get the cold brew. I don't live in this neighborhood but will definitely be finding reasons to come back for the cold brew!

Had a Mexican mocha which was delicious! The spicy potato pastry was great too and my friend got the breakfast naan which she devoured :)

My sister and I were on a coffee crawl through the city and we came across Oromo Cafe the other week. Besides the hundred of great reviews; we want to express that the unique clean Turkish menu and aesthetics, is what really drew us in. Just note a few things, we came on a slow school day, and easily found parking on a side street near western. But usually this is a high traffic area so if you're strolling by the 606, fell free to talk a quick walk if you're looking for a gluten, vegan free meal. I decided to try a frozen blend, the Pistachio + Matcha, wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm excited to come back and try the Pistachio + Rose. We also grabbed a Caprese Panini & my sister tried out the Turkish coffee with sweet cream. Very unique strong coffee for our first time, but we definitely will be back to explore the menu more.

Parking can be a little challenging here since it's directly underneath the blue line with no parking allowed in from the building. This is a great spot for those that need to get some coffee before jumping on the L. The staff here was ok. Not the friendliest of the bunch, but they got my order made in no time and quickly got me on my way. I ordered their hazelnut horchata latte and my wife ordered their maple maca pecan latte. Both were delicious with the horchata latte being my favorite. It was a tad bit on the sweet side but overall a really creative drink. Would definitely consider returning and perhaps trying out a few of their other signature drinks.

Stopped by here this morning for a Friday treat. I had no idea this coffee shop was tucked behind the western stop but I'm glad we stopped in. The interior is pretty big and there's a decent amount of seating. The menu also has a bunch of good food options but we only had coffee so I'm not sure how the food is here. My vanilla latte was perfect - perfectly balanced and not too sweet. My husbands pistachio and rose latte was not as good since it had a weird sour aftertaste. We may have to venture over here again and try something else but definitely a solid option in this area.

I tried the Turkish coffee + Sweet Cream and a Housemade Poptart. Coffee tasted great and comes with tasty Turkish delights. The homemade poptart tasted way better than Kelloggs brand Poptart, needless to say. More filling, natural tasting, and crispier. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good amount of small table seating. The background music and acoustics were a bit loud though.

What a find! Oromo's second outpost is an absolute Bucktown gem. With a menu of intriguing flavors, the hardest part will be deciding what to choose. I ordered the Maple Maca Pecan latte which was made with homemade pecan milk. The coffee was perfectly sweet and creamy, and all of the flavors really shined. Oromo also offers a large selection of housemade baked goods, most of which are paleo, clean eating, and/or vegan friendly. I tried the cashew butter cookie which was absolutely outstanding. The food menu also looked promising and I will definitely give it a try next time. Staff was very welcoming and the shop has plenty of seating room. It was relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon so it would be a great place to get some work done or catch up with a friend without any struggle hearing. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

The breakfast naan was tasty, it was firm, savory and sour and if had bursts of flavor in each bite. It was the first time I had a potato pogaca and it was delicious. Our server was very kind and helpful in assisting us with our selection. The ambiance was calm and chill, I saw some people studying when I was there. Bathrooms were clean!

In the sea of coffee shops in Chicago (and Oromo bucktown might have like 5 competitors within walking distance) its' hard to stand out. I'm sad it took me so long to finally star Oromo, because they have standout differences. The Turkish coffee is worth ordering - I like the cardamom but they have a variety of options, and this take is a nice alternative to my standard orders. Plus they serve it on a delightful tray with Turkish delight accompanying... this won me over right there. Food options here are unique: house-made protein bites, grains and bars that feature a lot of nuts, cardamom, dates, but also a whole variety of things. I'm positive you're not getting this elsewhere. But then they started serving kitchen-made breakfast sandwiches. The spot is tucked under the Blue line stop, but surprisingly isn't too dark as long as they don't have the shades all the way down. Staff are usually friendly and polite.

I have complaints about this place too BUT THE FOOD IS SO GOOD THAT I STILL GIVE 5 STARS!!!!! They put so much effort, fresh ingredients, little touches of zest and flavor bombs that I literally ordered a latte and a caprese bagel every single day for 2 years. I don't like that they learned their worth and raised the bagel price from $6.50 to 13 AND their delivery fee is ridiculous. But damn... the food is good!

How much do I love Oromo? A lot! This cafe is locally owned, with unique food/drink/bakery items that I have yet to find anywhere else in the surrounding cluster of neighborhoods. So many healthy food options here with quality ingredients that taste really amazing. And always a friendly face to take my order. My list of favorites: - almond butter + banana chai frozen blend drink - breakfast naan - spicy potato pogaca pastry - chocolate tahini cookie - almond butter cookie - Turkish coffee (comes with Turkish delight) If you're looking to support an awesome local business that serves excellent food and drinks, this is it!

Bucktown has lots of places for coffee. If looking for some bagels to go along with it, get both here. Oromo has a couple locations: one in Lincoln Square, and this one. Mostly quiet place that's usually not too crowded, and can get work finished. The prices are pretty good for locally made and high quality. A coffee is probably what you want from here. It had a few seasonal specials the last time I was here, and I liked it. They had the Mexican Oat Mocha. It was about $5 for a regular cup. Rich flavor with the espresso, oat milk, and spiced mocha. As for the food, you also have to eat. It's about $10 for a bagel sandwich. Has a few vegetarian choices. Last time I got the Green Power. As you can imagine, there's green vegetables in it. This comes with avocado, balsamic glaze, pesto, and spinach. Has a lot to choose from. It's best known for coffee, and there's quite a lot of it. There's also good bagel sandwiches friendly for vegans and vegetarians.

Great little cafe with excellent Turkish coffee and pastries that are delicious. Very nice employees, lovely ambiance. Will definitely return.

Best vibes and amazing location in Bucktown. You must try their avocado, pesto and egg bagel for breakfast. SO MUCH FLAVOR. best Turkish coffee in Chicago as well. All lates are fireee

One time I ordered a bagel with pesto cream cheese and it was amazing. The next time I ordered the same bagel with pesto cream cheese, I was given maybe .05 oz of cream cheese. It was so, so dry. For the price (~$6) it was a huge disappointment and I honestly haven't returned since.

Took my husband to Oromo for his first Turkish coffee experience and it didn't disappoint. We got Ottoman and a Portuguese tart. Beautiful presentation and flavorful shot of coffee! The candy that came with the coffee was a bit sticky but tasted good with coffee. The tart was yummy - just wish it's served warm haha. Highly recommend this place if you want to experience Turkish coffee. And probably start with the traditional as I think the added ingredients kind of dilute the original authentic strong bitter taste of Turkish coffee.

I've been going to Oromo Cafe mostly in Lincoln Square for at least four years, but this time I was near the Bucktown location. I ordered the usual Mexican Chiapas Blend which is my favorite. I was very disappointed that it did not have the usual robust taste. I returned it to the barista and she asked me if I wanted to try the Dark Roast, I said OK but that wasn't much better. My friend ordered hot tea and she said it had a good taste. She ordered a Tomato Soup to go but she wasn't happy, it had the color of paprika, and it looked almost like chili. She said she poured the soup into a saucepan and then took the photo. I always give a minimum of four stars but I'm going with two stars this time. I'm probably going to go to the Lincoln Square location from now on, it's closer to me anyway.

I lived by Oromo and have a gluten allergy, and am periodically seduced by the good number of gay gluten free baked goods and gay fancy beverages. Every time I feel tricked! The matcha tea is low quality, and they sprinkle nonsense like rose petals on everything, which sounds nice, except, in reality, rose petals are sharp and tasteless. The baked goods are also sharp, mostly full of nuts held together by dates. They taste like energy bars but are 3X the price. The interior is terrible in some way I forget, plastic plants and brick wallpaper or something like that, and useless items for sale in the middle of the room only someone evil would buy, and even then only as a thoughtless gift. The deafening blue line runs overhead, which is difficult for many restaurants, but Oromo suffers more as the gritty Chicago city clashes with an aesthetic designed for the spineless. Maybe this place is OK for some white millennial women but I can't imagine another demographic more than tollerating it. Coffee price isn't bad.

Get the breakfast sandwich! They also have the more varied Turkish coffee options I've ever seen. Very excited to try some if the Turkish pastries next time. Located right under the L stop so no parking out front but was able to find parking pretty easily nearby.

Really loved the idea and vibe of the coffee shop. It serves a good variety of food and drinks, and has a table of locally made knick knacks that you can purchase by directly venmoing the artist. I really love this kind of community engagement. It's wonderful seeing small businesses supporting other small businesses. The shop is clean and peaceful. Although it's under the train, it's not too disruptive. You can definitely hear the train go by, but that didn't disrupt my music or reading. Still had a very lovely time. I got the hazelnut horchata latte. It was just okay. It was a bit sweet for my liking and had this subtle sour taste that I couldn't quite identify. I will try a different drink when I come back.

Good coffee and lots of good snacks like bagels and baklava. Most of the food is vegan and gluten free. The service is friendly, too.

There are tons of cafes in Chicago serving great coffee and pastries. We came across Oromo as we were getting off the CTA Western stop and glad we decided to check it out. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of food: Great. We got their breakfast Naan that came with: toasted Naan, Labne Yogurt Spread, Spicy Olive Oil, Zatar, Two Fried Eggs, Feta Cheese, Parsley, and Green Olives. The feta cheese and zatar oil were a match made in heaven served over a crispy piece of fresh naan. To drink, we got the the 12oz Turmeric Ginger Latte that came with Turmeric Ginger Chai and Milk. This was very good and felt very soothing. Decor: nice and pleasant. The cafe had big glass windows and it was very enjoyable to sit next to one and watch all the commotion of a big city while sipping a nice hot beverage. Cleanliness: good. They were regularly cleaning the tables. Service: good. The cashiers were fast but pleasant at taking orders. Price: reasonable. Our food was around $8 and our latte was around $5. If you're in Bucktown near the Western stop then make sure to stop by here for a pleasant breakfast and coffee experience.

I have been searching for a dark chocolate mocha since I recently had one on a MI road trip. I found Oromo! I can't wait to go back to try more of their concoctions! Next up hazelnut horchata latte. Convenient location under the Blue Line Western stop. Skip the Starbucks across the street and head to Oromo.

Used to go to the Lincoln Square location regularly, but moved to Bucktown and love being so close to another location. Friendly staff, same great (albeit expensive) menu, and quiet music making it great for getting some work done.

Wow! Great stuff in there !!! Breakfast was delish! Authentic and ambiance very inviting and warm. It is all made from scratch. Love it . Will def go back.

Wanted to detail my experience at this cafe. I recently placed an order from the app Too Good to Go. The pickup time was between 3:30p-4:30p. I came to pick up at 4:40p - ten minutes beyond the pickup time; bear in mind, the cafe closes at 5p. The waitress was quite rude and firm on her stance that since I came late, I wouldn't be able to pick up my order. I asked for further explanation and was directed to speak with the manager over the phone. After several minutes of back and forth, I was offered a pastry the size of an oreo - no refund, I was told to 'take it up with Too Good to Go'. I don't know how to escalate this situation w Too Good to Go, and I honestly can't be bothered to do it over the $5 I paid. Overall, I can't be too mad, as I was late for pick up. But pretty disappointed that a locally owned coffee shop would treat their 3rd party patrons in such a way.

This is a nice place, however, I like the one at Lincoln Square way more. The coffee is good, but the noise from L train is very loud. We'll, this is a charm of Chicago...

I was wandering around Chicago looking for a cafe, and this one caught my eye. I'm so glad it did! I was pleasantly surprised to have stumbled on a place with Turkish coffee (made well), and a great selection of baked goods. The decor is perfect - colorful, patterns, and a lovely mix of traditional and modern artifacts. Definitely will make an effort to come back next time I'm in town.

A little piece of baklava was $5, was not crispy, tasted like it had been left out for hours. The cookie was like $5 too I got the mocha chocolate one it was gross, it was crumbly and stained by fingers, legit not at all sweet tastes like a wheat cookie and extremely grainy as well.

Great gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options. A real life saver for those with dietary restrictions. Had a delicious vegan gluten free brownie and matcha with oat milk. Absolutely amazing! Will be back.

Love their sandwiches, coffee and Portuguese tarts. Service is always great and allow me to go in with my pup to get my order.

3.5 stars had really high hopes for this one but was nothing too special. We got the breakfast burrito (very bland) the naan pizza (the best of everything, good!) the quality of the matcha wasn't great the maple latte was okay as well overall was an okay experience

Great service and friendly staff. Met a nice staff member who taught me all about Turkish coffee & even gave me a free sample before purchase. Took my work here and was very relaxing. The Turkish coffee definitely woke me up.

I may have found my new favorite latte in the city! Staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. They are a healthy-ish coffee shop that prides itself on vegan and gluten free creations (though not everything they make is!) and their homemade nut milks. I sampled a bite of their vegan brownie which was delicious, but chose a more breakfast style maple cream cookie! This was a great way to start my morning because it was a dense, oat-based cookie. YUM! The star of the show was the pistachio rose latte though. Pistachio milk was SO good! Rose flavor was on point. Rose petal garnish was just enough. I LOVED it. The only reason for 4 stars was price. Even though they just lowered the price of the lattes, they're still expensive ($8/16oz). Great for a treat, but not a daily drink. Either way, I'll be back!

Haven't been here in a while and there's a new variety of exotic concoctions to choose from. I was caught in a daze by the alluring pastries on display and allowed 2 couples cut-in front of me as I read each label. Very unique menu, a must try. Nice and cozy cafe, hidden under the Western Blue Line train station.

Great addition to Bucktown! Very unique lattes like pistachio & rose and a turmeric latte. Bit on the pricier side, but very understandable as they make all their own nut milks in house. In terms of the space, most of the seats are short stools without backs, which can get a bit uncomfortable after some time, but not too bad. A good number of seats, outlets are relatively accessible, and the space is very nice. Would definitely come back.

Authentic Turkish coffee, made in the traditional manner and served with a Turkish delight. There are quite a few different options too. Very cool spot right off the blue line.

The coffee shop is aesthetically pleasing and simple. Plenty of seats around for people as well as a ton of outlets to charge your laptops. Music wasn't too loud - so the place was ideal for studying if you needed to The coffee was a bit more expensive then I would usually pay (about 7$ for a 12 oz) which seems a bit outrageous to me. The coffee was fine - I got the horchata latte , it wasn't too sweet but was overpowered by the cinnamon taste and potentially a bit too bitter . I also got a little cinnamon apple walnut cookie that was a tad flavorless. Really the only reason I'd come back was because of how nice the staff was - there was a man who was making a lot of noise (talking to himself) and the staff handled the situation appropriately and so kindly .

Just wow. What a hidden gem in the Bucktown neighborhood. Right under the train, it serves organic breakfast & lunch as well as specialty drinks. They even make their own pistachio milk!! The chai lattes are not nearly as sweet as Starbucks, so be sure to add sugar if that's what you're looking for. The goat cheese salad or the valerse bagels are my go Ro's (I'm vegetarian), but my boyfriend really likes the breakfast burrito! I brought a student here who isn't as hipster as me (lol) and she really enjoyed her experience there!

Super delicious pastries (gluten free and vegan options), soup sandwich and most importantly intense Turkish coffee. We had ours sit down but forgot to say we were staying so we missed out on the presentation with nice cups etc.

Amazing well priced Turkish coffee served with a Turkish delight. I did not realize what I was getting when I ordered the Turkish coffee but was very pleasantly surprised. Staff is super friendly!
