"The name of this restaurant situated within the Villa Edera hotel gives the best indication of the type of cuisine served here (“orto” is the Italian for vegetable garden). Chef Jorg Giubbani from Sestri Levante makes full use of the vegetables for which fertile Liguria is renowned, using regional produce to create technical, complex, elaborate and often highly imaginative dishes. Although there is also a concise à la carte, the best option here is to choose one of the three tasting menus, dedicated respectively to Liguria, vegetables (the restaurant has several kitchen gardens in the region) and a surprise menu designed by the chef. Excellent service, particularly from the young and talented sommelier, adds to the enjoyment of this dining experience." - Michelin Inspector

I have been here with two friends for dinner. I like Liguria and was already familiar with its sea and mountains. However, there is a third element, the "orto". Orto by Jorg Giubbani does a great job in explaining, preparing, and well, cooking, dishes that cover all these elements alone, but also in combination. A special mention goes to the selections of herbs, really on point. I would recommend the degustazione "Avanguardia Ligure" and also the pairing with the wines. It was all worth it, the focaccia, not on the menu, was like a cloud!

We just enjoyed a wonderful evening at Orto and service by Kevin and Jimmy! Kevin did amazing identifying that we were not wine experts and providing us perfect pairings and the background of the selections. Jimmy walked us through each dish and made sure we were never wanting. To top it off, we had to hurry to catch our train at the end and they both ensured we had the full experience and Kevin even escorted us along the way to show us the shortest route to the station. Thank you for making this evening extra special! Next time we're in the area we will make sure to visit again

I was a little worried at first… I have been to several establishments of this kind and have had mixed experiences. I understand the idea of a kitchen expressing its locality in non traditional cooking and like it… so I get worried when everything needs to be explained. It’s not always necessary. It’s like visiting an art gallery and not seeing the art for all the interpretive texts on the walls. But having said this, the staff were really charming and while the introduction to the tasting menu was a little longer than needed, the rest of the meal (and the accompanying wine pairing) was nicely explained. Most importantly, the dishes were superb. Each had incredible layers of complexity and an intelligent use of aromatics. Every wine was superb too. The restaurant itself is comfortable and spacious and the plates and cutlery are beautiful.

Not just a meal but an experience. Each course was a delight, both visually stunning, explained thoroughly by the excellent service team and then also just plain delicious. I especially loved the course with a pressed oxtail (and the sauce!) and the rabbit button pasta (and the sauce!) but was also stunned by the beautifully green barley risotto, the fermented drink pairing that came with the artichoke dish, the desserts... oh and the quail, that I have never eaten better prepared. The philosophy of the restaurant is one of using local ingredients, marrying garden, sea and mountain, and I just cannot overstate how much I enjoyed my evening that felt more like a journey than "just" a dinner. Oh and did I mention that the focaccia is just out of this world, and all the cutlery and dishes are handmade? A place I will remember for a long time, and hope to come back to soon. Thank you!

A truly wonderful evening of delicious food and attentive service. We enjoyed the six course taster menu. Full of surprises and fabulous combinations. Lovely service from Kevin and Daniele the sommelier. Excellent food and wines all throughout.

My best restaurant in the last 10years. Every dishes was cooked with their own vegetables from their garden and local producers, seafood and meat were also very fresh and tasteful, the taste was very complex like meals in 3stars restaurants, enchanted me and my palate very much. Amazing! Also, matching wines were carefully selected and all of them didn’t disturb the taste of each dish but made the dish even more tasty. If you have a chance to visit this area, don’t miss this restaurant!

Top notch dining experience. The staff was so friendly, warm, and attentive, and they did all they could to make my 8 year old feel welcome and important. I come to expect one or two dishes on these kinds of menus to not totally hit the mark, and I'd say there's no exception here, but maybe only 1 dish was slightly off, other than that it was all fantastic. I would have no hesitation recommending this restaurant to any friend or foodie.
