The 26 Essential Louisville Restaurants

"When Norwegian Liz Huot and her husband Jesse toured his native North Dakota, they noticed a lot of Scandinavian restaurants, but their home in Louisville lacked anything similar. So they opened two businesses side by side: Øskar’s Slider Bar and Smør Nordic Bakeri. The sliders at Øskar’s are an easy introduction to Scandinavian flavors for unfamiliar locals, served a la carte so guests can try multiple varieties; options include the banana pork and lefse sandwich (pork braised with bananas and miso, house Norwegian potato flatbread, pickled red cabbage) and the venison sausage slider (spiced venison and pork sausage patty, Swedish mustard, onions caramelized with tart cherries). For dessert, pop over to Smør for skolebrød (cardamom dough filled with vanilla bean pastry cream, glazed, and topped with coconut) or a Smørk (brown-butter chocolate chip cookie loaded with Swedish mørk syrup and house-made toffee)." - Lennie Omalza

So, I met my sister and nephew here and I was very happy with the experience. I enjoyed the experience from the moment I walked in. The waitress was warm but not invasive at all. The decor was a little old school but I did like the bear. Now the food on the other hand was excellent. The sliders were very diverse and I ended up picking 4 different ones. My Sis picked a different lot and all were well prepared and had a great variety of flavors. I do recommend this place without hesitation. Stop in for great food and drinks. My old fashioned was well made.

Google
This place is a FIND! The sandwiches/sliders are great! And I tried the Kale salad and was pleasantly surprised with it as well. Our waitress was well versed on the menu and had fantastic advice on what to get. We will definitely return. Note—they are closed on Mondays.

Google
cool atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious sliders. you have to try the smoked ketchup it's amazing. the service was pretty slow, and they brought us someone else's order at first. one of my sliders still ended up being wrong and I didn't end up liking it, but it really wasn't a big deal. overall a pretty good experience. we plan on coming back soon.

Google
Service and atmosphere of the bar was great! Very nice people. The regular bread sliders were pretty good (I'm told). The gluten free bread was just okay. Taste and texture akin to an undercooked homemade biscuit, but it was certainly better than no option at all! We had banana pork, halloumi, and venison & pork. The pork was the standout - very good! I can only imagine how delicious the pork belly is. They have gf fryers for the tators and fries, but everything else is fried in the shared fryer. There were a couple options that were technically gf but were in the shared fryer; so they were cross contaminated. Service staff were great! They answered all my questions and were very accommodating. Not sure why Google lists this as a "new American" restaurant. It seems to very clearly be a Nordic restaurant of some sort...?

Stopped in at lunchtime. They seemed short staffed, so we had to wait a bit for our drinks order and food order to be taken. Getting charged 75 cents for a cup of ketchup and BBQ sauce mixed together was weird.

Oskar’s is one of my favorite places. Everything i’ve tried has been so good- I’ve gotta get a cheeseburger and a fried chicken though. The Pølser was one of my favorites most recently. The Smoked Ketchup is SOOOO good and you’ve also gotta get like 4 Ghost Pepper Mayos (they aren’t that spicy really) I love bringing people here, and my brother Sam absolutely loves their Gluten Free buns. One of the best places in the city! I also can’t remember her name right now, but the Server i always end up with is one of my favorite people. She is so silly and so friendly. The Best!

Google
Oskar’s Sliders Bar is a great spot. The drinks were awesome, and the sliders were unique and absolutely delicious. I really like that with their relatively affordable prices and small sizes, you can try a couple different ones and get the perfect variety without overdoing it. It’s a great way to explore different flavors and combinations without spending a fortune. The vibe is casual and comfortable, making it a great place to relax and try something new.

Google
Had an excellent time here for dinner on a Saturday. Ate at the bar where the service was excellent and the food is so delicious. When we came we didn't know how the food worked - it's tiny sliders. Order two or three with fries or the tots. Really chill but modern atmosphere. Expect it to be busy but super excellent service and good prices.

Yelp
Great as always! Took a client there today for his first time and he loved the sliders and the blueberry something beer. You need to try!

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite go to place to relax, have a drink, eat tator tots and sliders. Outside is a great space and the staff are amazingly kind, wonderful people. If you haven't been here yet, go! (Also bear the zoo and kid friendly).

Yelp
I love Oskar's. It's usually my go to spot after a trip to the zoo. I love the Scandinavian vibe on the inside. It's something we usually don't have in Louisville. I think it's a more relaxing vibe. Everything I've had in their menu was great. Since they specialize in sliders, it's easy to try a few things. I've had their cheeseburger, chicken slider and smoked pork belly. They were some of the best sliders. They're also fairly inexpensive so it's a good bang for your buck
google avatar

Yelp
There were quite a few sliders and sides to choose from. The drink menu as well as beer menu were a good length for a quaint place. The servers were really nice. There isn't a tone of parking but everything was flavorful.

Yelp
A little harder to find, the directions would have you turn on a road at the light, proceed just past it and take the first right the restaraunt is in the basement of the building. Upon entering, we were seated quickly, provided menus, and had our drinks and our order in within minutes. No less than 10 minutes later our sliders, beet salad and tots were out. I ordered the pork belly slider and a hot dog version with tots. I enjoyed them very much, the pork was fried to a golden crisp, as were the tots. My husband had the beet salad which I tried, its very refreshing. He also had the banana pork slider and a venison slider, both were good, although the venison tasted like a burger IMO. He was very happy. Our waitress was super friendly and explained everything on the menu. I like it here, the ambiance is very casual and Nordic.

Yelp
If you've ever dreamt of a place where sliders reign supreme and flavor runs wild, look no further than Oskar's Slider Bar--a culinary oasis where the buns are small, but the satisfaction is mighty. Let's start with the cheeseburger slider, a little masterpiece of meaty perfection. It's like they packed an entire backyard barbecue into a two-bite wonder. Then there's the halloumi slider, a delightful surprise that tastes like a Mediterranean vacation--without the airfare or the awkward sunscreen application. The tots and fries are crispy little overachievers, ready to dive headfirst into an array of sauces that would make even a condiment minimalist rethink their life choices. Pro tip: double dip. No one's watching. And just when you think you're indulging in nothing but slider heaven, the beet salad sneaks in to remind you that vegetables exist--and can actually be delicious. It's like Oskar's way of saying, "We care about your arteries, kind of." Best of all, the prices won't leave your wallet weeping into its leather folds. For slider aficionados and beet salad believers alike, Oskar's Slider Bar is a must-visit. Just make sure to loosen your belt before you go.

Yelp
We visited here with friends a couple nights ago. Oh how I wish it were warmer out already so we could enjoy their beautiful patio! We were originally told it would be a 20 min wait for a part of 4. We were willing to wait of course! They had us follow them literally 5 minutes later. I don't remember our servers name but he was fantastic & on top of it! Helpful with all the questions we asked. They were pretty busy so it was expected that the food took a bit longer to make it to our table. We had our drinks so we were all good to wait & chat. Everything came out nice & hot. Our friends got some fries along with their sliders & they were the biggest thing we raved on about. I got the smoked Halloumi & smoked pork belly with a side of kale salad. All was delicious! The Halloumi is a cheese but surprisingly kind of looked like the texture of a chicken patty. Very yummy! My husband ordered pulled pork slider & corned beef, which he shared with me & it was all very good! Our friend bought this Viking Blod mead as a gift for my husband's birthday! They all liked it but I wasn't a big fan.

Yelp
We stopped in here on a Tuesday evening for a 6 PM dinner and had fantastic service. Our waitress remembered us from over 3 months ago! She even remembers me ordering a "dad beer" of Stroh's in honor of my dad, which I did a repeat this evening! I had the venison sausage slider and a fiskefrikadellar (fish) slider with a side of beet salad, which were all perfectly prepared and seasoned and "just right". This restaurant has a nice casual vibe and the music is always great -- tonight was The Clash, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers -- and we never feel rushed. We finished out our visit by ordering cookies to go, a Snickerdoodle and a Smork. These are baked on site at the adjacent bakery. Fluffy sweet goodness.

Yelp
Such a great find while in the area! Our group of 6 (3 adults & 3 kids) loved eating lunch here. We ordered a whole bunch of items to share, and everything was delicious! They are all sliders, so smaller items, but we easily cut them in half and shared. They were all served in paper boats, but our group didn't mind passing items around. The staff was very kind and helpful, food came out quickly. We also enjoyed the drink options, and decor! The kids loved the big screen showing Elf too.

Yelp
We have been missing out for years!! Perfect price, great lunch atmosphere, and fast service!! We tried 4 different sliders with fries and tots! Buffalo chicken, ham and Swiss, smoked pork belly, and the Banana pork lefse. All terrific! Had outdoor seating area available, so can't wait to come back and sit out during warm weather!

Yelp
Easily earns all the stars. Great attentive service. In an simple dive bar feeling location. I skipped lunch In anticipation of trying to eat through a lot of the menu. The sliders I thought I would love the most were at the bottom of my list and the ones I thought would be most basic and I would like to least I love the absolute most. The venison and cheeseburge were my favorites. The tots I thought would just be standard tots, however they were very crispy perfectly fried and flavorful these are tots better than all the other tots you've had. The Skagen didn't really have much flavor and was to be on a toasted rye bread It was just warm bread, and the smoked pork belly really didn't have much smoke flavor for me. I can't wait to travel back and try even more

Yelp
Chill vibes. Creative cocktails. Great food. Super affordable. Do yourself a favor and leave the zoo and come out here before or after. Friendly service!

Yelp
My YouTube foodie buddy Joel Hansen (check him out) introduced me to Oskar's Slider Bar when I told him that I was headed to Louisville. I peeped his episode and immediately knew what had to be done; I had to try all of their sliders. I came, I saw, I conquered almost all of their sliders. All of the sliders were good, but the cheese burger, pork belly, and banana pork LEFSE were my favorites. The venison was surprisingly delicious too. The sliders are packed full of freshness and flavor, and were priced right for the quality and serving size. The service was great and so was the drink selection! The suaves are homemade and delicious; therefore, I recommend trying them all. The ambiance was nice, and even more appreciated for my buddy's Norwegian girlfriend. If you're in Louisville and looking for something chill and affordable then I highly recommend checking Oskar's out! 5 out of 5 when comparing it to other slider/burger spots!

Michael A.

Yelp
Took him 15 minutes just to ask what to drink. By then we knew what we wanted ordered and asked for a tea. He took until our food was ready and finally brought the drink. We had to ask him three times. when the check was brought out he'd added an extra slider. Dudes name was Michael as it seemed like he had a vendetta against us for some reason. Took forever to bring us the fixed receipt. We were the only people in there the last half of the painful forty five minutes we were dining in there. 100% do not recommend.

Yelp
I knew I had to try Oskar's before I left Louisville for home last Sunday. It had been on my bookmark list for a long time and I was relieved to find them open! After dropping people off at the airport, I trucked on over. Parking was pretty easy - there's a large lot slightly behind the restaurant - though getting out onto the road when it was time to leave was a little challenging. The restaurant almost has a basement feel - it's beneath a "Nordic bakeri" (wonder if it's the same folks?) and the decor sort of matches that vibe. The Scandinavian influence is there, but it's slight. Think band posters, cheeky stickers, clever media references, etc. I liked the place! I waited at the host pedestal for a few minutes before a waitress came up to seat me. I asked if it would be okay to look at a menu and then order carryout, to which she agreed and sent me to the bar to peruse the selections before placing my order. I didn't need long, and it took someone a fair bit of time to make their way back over to me, but I did eventually place my order, and after that, my food came out nicely packaged in a very reasonable time. You can select pretty much any combination of sliders. Since I only got two, the price was quite reasonable! They have cookies from the bakeri upstairs for dessert, but sadly I couldn't order any as the bakeri is closed on Sundays. Bummer, but oh well! Like I said, packaged super nicely for carryout. No napkins in the bag though, which is a pet peeve of mine. Each slider came in a small cardboard-like container that was then sealed inside another aluminum-like bag. Could definitely get these guys home nicely intact. I ate in the car though - home was 5 hours away for me, lol. I got the pølser (Danish hot dog) and the Buffalo chicken slider and enjoyed both. The pølser was exceptional. Great textures and flavors throughout: beefy hot dog, crispy and sour pickles, soft bun, slightly crunchy fried onions. I was missing a little sweetness (I'm a heathen that likes ketchup/other sweet-ish toppings on my hot dogs), but it was great overall and I'd absolutely order one (or two!) again. The Buffalo chicken slider was also good but imo not as good as the pølser (I'd give the dog like a 4.5/5 and the Buffalo chicken like a 3.8/5). Juicy, all-white chicken meat. The breading was adequately crispy but I think could've used some more flavor. The bun got a tiny bit soggy even on the few minute transfer out to my car, but that's not too surprising. I subbed house ranch for bleu cheese which I don't regret since bleu cheese is not my thing, but the ranch was missing some flavor too. I will say there was some actual kick to the Buffalo sauce - nothing scary, but enjoyable for sure. The celery bits/relish was a little annoying because it kept falling off everywhere lol. On the whole, I'd be thrilled to return for another pølser and very much enjoyed perusing the menu and getting a tiny taste of Scandinavian-inspired dining. Thanks, Oskar's!

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant and it won't be my last. The sliders I was so good. Food came out Hot and that's always good.

Yelp
Enjoyed our late lunch here. All the different sliders we tried were very good. My wife raved about the beet salad. Ambiance was strange. Place had a weird vibe to it. Thought prices were a little high, but otherwise I'd recommend the place if you are looking for something a little different.

Yelp
Love this place. Wide assortment of sliders, with not a single one that's not worth trying. Truly, even the weirder sounding ones (I found the delightfully spicy Fiskafrikkadeller--I assuredly butchered that but don't have the menu handy to check--to be a pleasant surprise, for example). Cheeseburgers are crazily good--the perfect little seared patty and a dollop of sauce. Fried chicken is incredible. Smoked halloumi (a mild, squeaky cheese) is another you might question if you haven't had it, but it's become a go to for me). And there is always a wonderful selection of desserts from their sister restaurant (Smor). Scandinavian theme is fun--I rather enjoy dining under the gaze of the giant bear statue, I must admit. Be sure to try some aquavit while you're there, on its own or in a cocktail (Scandinavian sprit, I've heard some compare it to vodka but it feels more like a gin to me, probably because of the aromatics you get from it...anyway, it's a fun liquor you don't find elsewhere in town here). Service is always friendly, but some are more attentive than others. That can be said of many places though. Bartenders are always great. There's a nice covered patio space. Interior of the restaurant is rather dark, by design. Good casual spot. Give this place a try. You'll find something you like, whatever your taste.

Yelp
Come for the food. My partner and I were looking for a small bite on a Sunday afternoon. We went to Oskar's and it paid dividends. We split 3 sliders and tots. This was a mistake. we should have ordered 2 sliders each and tots for a small meal. The sliders were delicious. Although the corned beef slider was a little plain it was still pretty damn good. For a quick trip, I cannot recommend enough. We will definitely be back to pair with the bakery upstairs.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the sliders & would love to bring friends here! As mentioned the sliders are indeed sliders, meaning they are small. A big mouth could get it down in one bite. Understanding this is key to being happy and ordering enough food. Me and my husband went on a Saturday evening and were surprised that it wasn't that busy. We then realized not only was there a festival going on but there was also a handful of other decent size events going on nearby. Either way it was nice to not be overcrowded as we often are when eating out on Saturday evenings. The food was delicious! I think all together we ordered 8 sliders, 3 for me and 5 for him. And a side of tater tots. It's worth stating I wasn't overly hungry and the 3 and half the tots filled me up. My husband however had 5, half the tots, and also ordered two desserts. Keep in mind how hungry you are! Try the smoked halloumi! Don't ask questions, just do it! The space itself is very cute, but a little dark. I loved the giant bear. -1 star for the margarita. I could only taste tequila, was hoping to be able to taste some of the pear mix. I would skip the cocktails and do a beer instead.
google avatar

Jane R.

Yelp
Super cute sliders! I got the cheeseburger and corned beef. And we got the tot, too! Just an easy meal and the Nordic bakery is above it. I would check this place again

Ray L.

Yelp
Do you guys still have the pot roast sliders? Please bring those back to the menu. I like the red salad too it's kind of tangy and you get a lot of it.

Yelp
Received an invite from a friend to check out this spot. She mentioned it was owned by the same folks who own Grindr Burger which I have never had but decided to give it a try. Who doesn't love sliders. The location is not too far from the Louisville zoo which is where we were at the time. They have a parking lot which is nice right off popular level rd. They also have outdoor seating with a rustic Cabana style covering. Since we went on a Thursday it wasn't crowded which we were able to get seated right away. There was so many different sliders to choose from. I liked the variety. The waitress did let us know that they switched from fries to tots but that wasn't a biggie. I ordered a peach margarita with a couple of sliders (cheeseburger, fish, veggie and plain) and tots. We waited for about 20-25 minutes, not very long and everything was hot and fresh. I would definitely go back and check out the other types of sliders. Costs are roughly about $3-$4.25 a slider which isn't too bad.

Yelp
Ventured out to Oskar's Silder Bar for the first time recently, although I've been wanting to try it for several years. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and our server was outstanding. He was able to answer all our questions about the menu, and made spot-on recommendations when we were undecided about what to order. The sliders are small, which is wonderful because this allows a hungry diner to order several different options to try. The sides are also excellent, especially the kale salad. My only wish is that there were more vegan options; the veggie slider is delicious, but once you've had it the adventure has ended. If they add additional vegan sliders I'll be back in half a heartbeat.

Yelp
This is was my first time at Oskar's, but I've been meaning to try it for a while. We visited last Friday during lunch, I was able to make reservations easily online for Noon. When I arrived the restaurant I learned that my reservation wasn't needed, but glad to know it was easy to make! We were seated at a table in the main row of tables. We received menus and sat down to peruse. The menu had a ton of sliders from classic cheeseburgers to shrimp salad sandwiches. Our server suggested 2-4 burgers and sides. She said each burger was 2-3 bites. I ordered the cheeseburger, fried chicken and pork belly sandwiches with a side of fries. Sandwiches average around $3.50. Sauces cost extra, which I didn't love. I think sauces should come free, but they were reasonably priced. We didn't have to wait long for our food and it all arrived together. I found that the burgers were more than 2-3 bites and quite filling. You can't go wrong with a classic cheeseburger, it wasn't a stand out burger but it was classic and I know my kids would have loved it. The fried chicken was moist and plentiful. It came with a sauce but I used the honey sauce I had ordered. The pork belly was disappointing and mostly fat. I didn't eat much of it, and I usually love pork belly. Also, the toppings on this didn't really compliment the sandwich. Would not recommend getting it. The two sauces I ordered were ghost pepper Mayo and habanero honey. The ghost pepper wasn't really spicy and didn't have much flavor and the honey, tasted mostly like honey. I don't know if I'd pay for additional sauces in the future. The fries were good, but again nothing that stood out. Overall I liked Oskar's and know my kids would like the simplicity of the menu.

Yelp
This basement-level bar offers extensive indoor and outdoor seating and a menu focused on sliders with bread from their attached bakery. They had multiple vegetarian options, and I ordered generously. The results were both pleasing to look at and pleasing to eat. Their veggie burger was crisp, the smoked halloumi was very smoked, and a strange fermented berry hot sauce added intrigue. My side options were generous as well; the kale salad had just the right amount of sweetness from the apple vinaigrette dressing and the fries were skin-on and well done. They had some non-alcoholic drink options (though I could have gone for more) and my Icelandic spring water, while not something I would order routinely, did taste fresh. It was an upbeat vibe, and one can visit the attached bakery (or get a dessert here) as well.

Livi R.

Yelp
I went to Oskars with a group of 9 coworkers yesterday and we had a great experience. Our server, Kevin was so fun and let us know all of his favorite menu items. Our food was delicious and they were kind and attentive the whole time. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Did carryout twice on our trip here for a convention. Hubby got the chicken, cheeseburger, and we split the grilled cheese double. I did the veggie, halloumi, and fishy one. We loved it all! Wish there was a location local to us in Michigan. We just met you and we are already going to miss you! Thanks for top notch flavors and choices.

Yelp
Service, food, timing, vibe.... Absolutely perfect for a business traveller. Would be cool if the special condiments were not extra but, with the price point its okay. The cookies are the best. Never, ever, leave without one, and to the team have them ready for the after work krewe.

Yelp
The chicken Curry soup special was perfectly thick and creamy -- an incredible soup for a winter's night! ! Please don't run out -- coming back tomorrow for more! May want to add this through March and serve a side a bread to sop up the deliciousness--- just saying!

Yelp
I recently wrote a review for a bakery upstairs from Øskar's and commented on how they both deserved reviews independent of one another. My husband and I plan to have our Valentine's dinner date without our kids, so tonight we had our family Valentine's dinner at Øskar's. I haven't explored every crevice of this city...but if there's another Scandinavian slider bar, it hasn't hit my radar yet. I'll be completely transparent and say that I tend to not write reviews unless I do them immediately, and these Strainge Beast Hard Kombucha's hit me harder than I expected. Also, they were delicious. Unique. I would go back just for another. My husband drank Scout & Scholars. We've heard rave reviews of their brewery and restaurant in Bardstown; we can't wait to make the trip to try them out for ourselves. Our order- Cheeseburger- Beef patty, American cheese, special sauce Corned Beef- House kraut, Swedish mustard mayo Venison Sausage (2)- Spiced venison & pork sausage patty, onions caramelized with tart cherries, Swedish mustard Beet Salad- Pickled beets, apples, creamy dressing Fiskefrikadeller- Cod & Salmon Fish Cake with bell pepper and onion. Topped with a citrus aioli Skagen Smørrebrød- Cold shrimp & crab salad, fresh dill, roe, open-face on a rye toast Ham & Swiss- Nueske's smoked ham, Wisconsin cheese Fries- House cut fries, salt Fried Chicken (3)- Ranch-brined fried chicken breast, pickles, Swedish mustard mayo (We ordered these condiment free. They were for our one and three year old toddlers.) Øskar's has a lodge-like vibe with an unconventional feel, wood beams, exposed vents, Scandinavian accents, a giant bear, and walls with stickers promoting breweries. It's classy, bold, warm, but still has large screens where you can catch the game. The servers/employees are down-to-earth, helpful with suggestions, and accommodating to families. They provide crayons, coloring pages, and what kid doesn't love a slider? This is definitely THE spot to go post-zoo. I feel like I can't do them justice trying to explain each individual slider. Their flavor combinations are on point. Whether you're wanting to try something more traditional, not the most adventurous eater, or a foodie through and through, they have something for you. Fiskefrikadeller is a bit like a crab cake sandwich. I'm not usually into gamy meat, but the their venison is one of my favorite sliders. At the same time, the cheeseburger is about as straight forward (and delicious) as it gets. If you're into unique food experiences, this is a must-try spot. If condiments excite you, this is for you. If you enjoy bars with a wider beverage selection, don't sleep on Øskar's. If you want to enjoy a bar scene and still feel appropriate bringing your kiddos, this is the one. More notably, this is a space to appreciate a cultural experience unlike any other Louisville has to offer.

Yelp
I loved this place. I had a much needed solo lunch. I chose to sit outside & order everything on their QR from start to finish. My lingonberry margarita drink was the perfect strength, my chicken sandwich was great the chicken was cooked perfectly & I loved the kale salad. I'll definitely be bringing my husband & sister back to this one. :) I chose a Smokey hot honey on the side. It was heavy on the smoke flavor. I recommend getting extra sauces to try bc they have a unique selection.

Yelp
I needed a fast bite on the way to the airport - and sliders seemed like a no brainer. I lucked out and caught them post lunch rush - near empty, prime bar seating. Beer ordered, sliders picked - the corned beef, pork belly, and a classic cheeseburger. By no means will they "blow your mind" - but damn they hit the spot perfectly. The temp and texture was perfect, the fries were crispy, the sliders were flavorful but not overpowering. Remember people, these are sliders. I honestly could've done a few more if I didn't have to run to the airport! They're worth checking out - order a few, grab a beer, relax!

Yelp
I have seen reviews of this online and this app, but always forgot about it until I was going to be in the area and needed to find a dinner spot. We decided to give this a shot and glad I did! The cheeseburger stole the show for us as it reminded us of my wife's family's old ice cream and burger shop. The fries seemed to have been sitting for a bit as they were like warm and not crisp, so I wasn't a fan of those. The kale salad was actually a great side dish and I'd go for that in the future instead of stealing my wife's! The service was friendly and relatively quick considering It was a packed Friday night.

Yelp
Love this place! My hungry table of four tried every slider - I believe there are 13 different ones, and we ordered 16 total - plus tots and fries, and we couldn't finish it all (although we tried!) You can't go wrong with any of the options. It's a toss up between the cheeseburger and chicken for my favorite. Oskar's has mastered the flavor combinations, and boy is that habanero honey delicious on just about everything! Also really enjoyed the smoked ketchup and spicy mayo. Including a variety of sauces, a couple of sodas, and two (incredible!) brownies, our end bill was under $100 for the full spread experience. Highly recommend stopping in! (Disclaimer: Some sliders were devoured prior to the posted photo)

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. Came on a Sunday, few minutes after they opened so it's wasn't too busy when we got there. The spacious interior with outdoorsy theme & neat light fixtures & bear decor around but a chill atmosphere. Our server was awesome! She gave us the drinks specials which one was the Hi-c hibiscus with the house bourdon (it has edible flowers!) which I got & he settled for Against the Grain Citra Ass Down & we got some waters as well. We order 6 sliders to try, a kale salad & tots & a grind smoked tomato ketchup. By this time I already had my drink, which was dangerously delicious, sweet but not too much & you can just barley taste the bourbon. The flowers were good floral tasting. Once the food came out I had to try the Skagen Smørrebrød first. It was really good you can smell the dill but it's not overpowering & the rye gives it a nice balance. I took a bite of the beau's cheeseburger & damm was it delicious, seasoned well, cheese melted perfectly & pickles gave a nice crunch. Next was the smoked pork belly.. OMG like butter.. the pork belly just melted with every bite & creamy slaw was a nice touch. ( preferably I would have liked the slaw to have a lil crunchiness). I took a bite of his fried chicken slider & juicy flavor delicious & the mustard & pickles was just the perfect combination. The banana pork lefse was Amazing as well. The flavors just blend together so nicely just so good. The tots were delicious specially with the ketchup. I loved the kale salad too crispy & dressed well. Every bite was delicious & the service was great. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Yelp
I have heard many great things about this place and finally got around to it however it wasn't a great experience but, it wasn't terrible either. More on that shortly. I have had this place on my radar for quite sometime, I told my friend about it and we decided to come on a weekday when it wasn't very busy. It's located on Poplar Level road not far from the Zoo, there are a few parking spaces in the front as well as adjacent parking nearby. We go inside and appear to be the only customers there, we were greeted by the friendly hostess/server and were seated at a table. We took a few minutes to to browse and I decided to go with the Roast Beef and Cheeseburger Slider with fries on the side. My friend went with The Cheeseburger and Fried Chicken slider with fries on the side. I really wasn't very keen on the Roast Beef slider, I could taste the sauce more than I could the roast beef, and what I could taste of the roast beef didn't taste very much like it. The cheeseburger slider was pretty good and so were the fries. My friend thought the cheeseburger slider patty was a bit small but very much liked the fried chicken slider. We both agreed the fries are good. This is a neat place with a cool bar inside, not sure if we'll be back however. The food was ok for the most part. Staff was wonderful.

Yelp
Old school type feel. Love the green upholstered bar chairs. Server was great at explaining the menu and gluten free options. Menu is super cool. Love the slider concept with so many different choices. Table of 5 and we ordered almost everything. The corned beef, cheeseburger, fish cake and fried chicken sliders were our favorites.

Yelp
We got takeout tonight for my first visit. Kale salad- awesome. My husband enjoyed cheeseburger sliders and fries. I got the tots, a bit salty but crispy so all was well. I also got the veggie sliders. I sincerely can't recommend Oskar's to others based only on the fact that my veg sliders tasted like fish. I don't necessarily expect separate fryers for proteins, but my guess is that it was a dirty fryer? If you're not a vegetarian or vegan, I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Yelp
We had a large group with various picky eaters and a wide range of tastes to accommodate for. I figured this place, with its small slider-size portions, its laid back vibe, and it's stellar reviews, I thought this would be the perfect place. They have a really interesting assortment of sliders in really unique flavors. We tried most of them, but the one that stood out to us by far was the Smoked Halloumi. Everyone that tried it lit up upon the first bite. The rest of the sliders were also pretty good. Be warned, like the pickiest and most difficult eater in our group was warned, that these are sliders and so they are small. The only person that left disappointed was the one that didn't understand this and ordered only two. I'm a big eater, so I could definitely eat 4 or 5, maybe 6 if I'm really hungry. Overall good experience! I would come back if I'm in the area, maybe after a zoo trip!

Yelp
Oskar's is a great place to grab a drink & some delicious sliders! It has a chill/laid back atmosphere. I definitely recommend the beet salad. I tried it on a whim & have been craving it ever since we left. I'm not a vegetarian but their veggie burger was insanely good.

Yelp
My family of 4 came to visit on a Saturday afternoon. Felt like we hit it at the right time because as it got closer to 6p the restaurant began filling up. Several families inside and some couples at the bar area, which is nicely separated. Patrick, our server, was great. Very welcoming. He recorded all of our requests and kept our drinks filled. We enjoyed all of the sliders ordered - pork belly, cheeseburgers, fried chicken, buffalo chicken. The fries, meatballs and kale salad sides were also great. We're looking forward to heading back and trying more options. The restaurant felt clean. I really appreciated the host, that in between seating people, he wiped down menus and tables. All the staff wore masks as well. Even though they had a crowd I felt distanced at our table. Great experience and local spot. Love the uniqueness of being able to pick and choose my sliders.

Yelp
Had a meal at the bar for a late lunch. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was quiet at mid afternoon weekday. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend this place. We will return.

Yelp
I initially considered Oskar's to be a four-star spot, but repeated visits - coupled with a relatively low price-point - have bumped me towards five stars. The ambiance is bare bones, but the servers are reliably pleasant and the service is speedy, despite the fact that they are usually busy. I love burgers and sliders, so conceptually, I'm grateful that Louisville has a place like Oskar's. There's little to recommend Oskar's other than the actual food, but I'm perfectly happy with restaurants build on that philosophy, (provided that they are clean, which Oskar's is.) Here are my individual item ratings; may they aid you in making your selections! The buffalo chicken slider is my favorite item on the menu. 5/5 The banana pork lefse is really dull. 2/5 The tater tots really hit the spot 5/5 The corned beef slider is huge and flavorful. 5/5 The venison slider has a good flavor 4/5. The cheeseburger sliders are over-rated, but still fantastic. 4/5 A particular curiosity for me is the fact that I do NOT generally like buffalo/hot chicken or corned beef. At Oskar's, though, I'm addicted to both. The variety of sauces offered is fun. I'd suggest two things: 1) forego the grind smoked tomato ketchup and use regular ketchup and 2) as long as you're ok with a moderate spicy kick, treat yourself to the habanero honey. It's fantastic and it pairs especially well with the buffalo chicken sliders. Oskar's has pried its way into my monthly restaurant rotation.

Yelp
Wanted to follow up with a second review. I came here for dinner with our book club, and everything from our server's hospitality to our food was outstanding! I try to reserve the 5/5 stars for my absolute favorites so please note I have nothing bad to say other than I wish there were some additional side options. However, I respect a limited menu and executing what you have well. The cocktails were 8.5/10. I was impressed with the uniqueness of my bourbon cocktail - REALLY wished they carried Angels Envy which is our favorite bourbon! I tried a few new sliders this time and I was, again, very impressed and happy I found a few new sliders to order next time I return. Kale salad and fries are always great. Thanks Oskar's!

Yelp
We love Oskars! All of their sliders are great but my favorite is the cheeseburger slider. It is everything a cheeseburger should be! The staff are always friendly and make us feel welcome. It's a relaxed environment that I have found to be very child friendly. We will be back!

Yelp
Oskar's was a treat. The sliders were all great! The atmosphere was inviting, casual and kid friendly. Our service was fast and cordial (not bad, but I wouldn't exactly call it friendly). I think we all decided the cheeseburger slider was our favorite. Others on our plates were buffalo chicken, fried chicken and pork belly.
