I cannot wait to eat at Oso again! From the moment my husband and I were greeted to all the goodbyes on our way out the door, this place is great!
Visited on a Monday night and sat at the bar. This place is a well oiled machine! The kitchen is tiny, they're seriously working with 1 countertop oven, and 3 induction burners, and watching everything being prepared is like watching a well orchestrated dance. Everything is timed, measured, fired, and ready to go without looking rushed or crazy!
The menu is concise, it has to be because of that kitchen.
We tried
-the deviled eggs with crab - omg, so well seasoned and served on some well dressed arugula
-oysters Rockefeller - I mean, baked oysters with cheese, what's not to love!?
-roasted broccolini - this was really a standout for me because I didn't read the menu closely and it was Thai style, so it had a really wonderful peanut sauce, and the veg was perfectly cooked.
-ricotta meatballs - (husband's main dish) so cheesy, well seasoned and delicious
-steamed PEI mussels - (my main) Holy crap, sooooo many mussels. I had like 30+ mussels and they were wonderful The broth was so good that I took what was left home so I could use it as a base for a curry.
- roasted berries w/ pretzel crunch and vanilla ice cream - this is the right way to end a meal, salty AND sweet, I'm almost sorry I didn't order my own!
-ginger lime Ricky - sweet, and refreshing
-sazerac- standard and delish
I didn't get a chance to try the pasta of the day, but it was pad Thai, and it looked great. Honestly everything looked great - I know because I was in awe of the kitchen staff the entire time I was there.
The place is cozy, and has a small back patio. We went for an early dinner, 5pm, and didn't have any trouble getting a seat.
Every person working at Oso made us feel welcome, and they all said goodbye on our way out the door. I want to be best friends with everyone there, they obviously like working there, and it shows.
