We went to Ossobuco last night with my partner and tried their Miami Spice Dinner Menu priced at $60 per person. The menu includes four courses, and we decided to order different items so we could share everything.
We started with two Penicillin Cocktails – absolutely delicious – and then switched to a bottle of Couly-Dutheil Chinon Le Clos de l’Olive red wine. On our last glass, we noticed the wine was slightly corked, but it was still a delicious, full-bodied red.
For our appetizers:
• Empanada Ossobuco (braised ossobuco with herb aioli): it comes with only one empanada, but it’s very fulfilling.
• Beef Carpaccio (prime beef, arugula, balsamic aioli, crispy onion, parmesan): I normally don’t like carpaccio, but the hint of spice in the sauce made this dish my favorite of the night.
• From outside the Miami Spice menu, we also added the Harissa Tuna Tartare (with eggplant conserva, currants, tahini yogurt, and pani puri). It was unique — very cumin-forward (if that was the spice) — different from any tuna tartare I’ve had before.
For our second course:
• Osso Bone Marrow (ossobuco marmalade with grilled corn and smoked chimichurri): My boyfriend loved it. I personally think it needed a better balance, maybe with something more than just bread.
• Cauliflower (served with sweet chili sauce, sour cream togarashi, and crushed peanuts): crispy and flavorful.
• We also added Pulpo a la Parilla (grilled octopus, pickled onions, and red chimichurri) from the regular menu — excellent.
For mains:
• Ricotta Gnocchi a la Plancha (ossobuco ragu, cherry tomato, truffle cream, parmesan): This one didn’t impress me — I couldn’t really taste the truffle.
• Steak Frites (8 oz New York strip, wagyu fat potatoes, harissa aioli, chimichurri, sautéed onions): absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked.
For dessert:
• Churros & Dulce de Leche (served with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce): the perfect sweet ending.
• Fat Washed Espresso Martini (smoked butter fat-washed vodka & cognac, coffee, topped with ricotta foam): fantastic — rich, balanced, and memorable.
Fabrizzio was our server, and despite some of the negative comments we’ve read elsewhere, his service was absolutely great — attentive, friendly, and professional.
A couple of notes: I wish there was a bit more space between the tables, but I loved the table-side coat rack — a stylish and thoughtful touch that’s perfect for bags and coats.
Overall Favorites:
• Beef Carpaccio
• Empanada Ossobuco
• Pulpo a la Parilla
• Cauliflower
• Steak Frites
I can definitely see myself coming back just for the Penicillin Cocktail and the Fat Washed Espresso Martini. Thank you, Fabrizzio — we will be back!
