Osteria Carlina West Village

I was supposed to be here for a dinner reservation for two, but my friend couldn’t come. The manager was kind enough to accommodate me and seat me at the bar as I requested. The food was absolutely delicious! The pappardelle was prob among the top 5 pasta dishes I have ever tried. There was also an order of focaccia that’s not pictured, which I didn’t realize I was getting charged for when initially offered, but it was so delicious as well so no regrets here. Finally, I have to mention these other guests, a mother and a young adult daughter presumably, who waltzed in 5 mins after me and decided to sit at the bar right next to me just to simply order two glasses of wine. A few mins later the dad joined them, but there was no room for him to sit at their end of the bar. So the manager very kindly asked me a favor to move my seat to accommodate them. I did, albeit begrudgingly. The dad then ordered a beer after sitting down. They all left in less than 10 mins after arriving, only to have ordered two glasses of wine and a beer in total. PSA to folks out there only looking for a drink: please just go to a wine bar instead! I asked to have my seat moved back after they left and the staff were kind enough to accommodate. 100% would revisit this place.

Phenomenal and cozy! Yes yes yes! Authentic Italian, attention to detail and service- I’m hooked. The restaurant and small bar give the coziest vibes. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. We had the risotto balls (amazing) and the malfadine + agnolotti - to die for. Will be back asap! I also recommend a vermouth drink pre-dinner!

It was very ok. Mostly because it took 30 minutes after our reservation time to seat us, so admittedly the first impression of Osteria Carlina was pretty bad (they gave us prosecco as an apology, but we don’t drink prosecco). I was hoping the food would have made up for the wait but… the food was just good. It wasn’t incredibly delicious, but solidly good. Unfortunately not enough to leave a lasting impression. It definitely won’t be the spot that comes to mind next time a friend suggests we go to an Italian place for dinner.

My husband and I stopped by for an appetizer and a glass of wine and found the perfect spot for a date night! We shared a beautifully plated appetizer and freshly baked focaccia. Everything felt thoughtful and elegant without being overdone. We will definitely be back for more date nights.

Chose this restaurant based on Google reviews, but our experience was disappointing. Service was okay, but the ink pasta tasted very fishy. My husband got severe stomach issues afterward. Freshness should be the baseline. unfortunately, this did not meet that standard. We won’t be returning.

Delicious food and beautiful decor. We enjoyed both pasta dishes, the focaccia was amazing, and we had a wonderful tomato and pear salad as well. The staff were kind and helpful. We also briefly met the owner who was lovely. This place should much busier but we were happy we could drop in without any issue. If you’re considering it, just go!

Absolutely loved this place! The pasta is clearly homemade and absolutely delicious—I had the pappardelle and it was perfect. The atmosphere is warm and romantic, perfect for a date night. We waited about 10-30 minutes for a table, but it was totally worth it. Korra was wonderful and made the experience even better. Can't wait to come back!

Really great no-frills Italian restaurant in West Village. Not loud, and easy to book a table with little notice. They definitely seem to take care in what they're providing, and the lighting is dim and intimate. The service was attentive. The pasta definitely tasted homemade and fresh, and the mushrooms that decorated it were deep and flavorful. The dish was well balanced and I would come back again, especially to catch up with someone. The ambiance is perfect for you to be able to have a conversation with someone. The tables are a bit tight together, so especially in the winter where everyone has bulky jackets, just be careful about bumping into other tables if you sit along the sofa area. However, they do have the option to check your coat in also.

Great Date spot. Beautiful on the inside. And the service was really good. They took care of us and checked on everything just the right amount without being too abrasive. The food was also really good. tartare was good, and the truffle butter pasta was fantastic we tore it up. lol. Star of the show though? AGNOLOTTI ALLA PIEMONTESE!!!! DO NOT MISS IT. Overall a great little spot for your back pocket. It was even better than Torrisi which I waited months to get into, the same northern italy style of cuisine, and quadruple the price for lesser or equal food.

If you're looking for authentic Piedmontese cuisine, look no further than Osteria Carlina! We walked in without reservations, but Ramon made sure we were comfortable at the bar. The atmosphere is perfectly cozy and romantic, with soft jazz playing in the background. We ordered the vitello tonnato to start - pretty tasty, but could've used a thicker tuna sauce. The real stars of the show were the pastas. Having the Tajarin was like being transported right back to northern Italy. Every bite was heaven. The Agnolotti was also delicious - rich, savory, and luscious. We finished with an espresso and the tiramisu - a classic, you can't go wrong. Ramon was wonderful in making our night wonderful. Can't wait to come back soon!

From the moment we arrived to the restaurant the GM was very attentive to our needs, and they were also able to accommodate to our late reservation and were patient with us. The GM helped with recommending dishes to try and every suggestion was delicious. The Beef tartar was a great appetizer and the salad they paired with it was a great choice. The lasagna sauce was amazing and I'm still thinking about it. The pot roast ravioli was good but not my fav. I would definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu. The Chardonnay that we ordered also paired with our dishes. Although the restaurant was tightly packed, we enjoyed our date night!

More like 3.75 All the appetizers were had were very tasty. Pizzetta - chruncky texture fluffy bread, prosciutto with basil pesto sauce all together eas heavenly. Crab Tart - refreshing and delicious. Carlina Insalata - also very good if you like fennel. Refreshing. Veal - not my favorite but my friends enjoyed it. Pasta unfortunately not as wow-ed as the appetizers ... White Ragu Pasta - recommended by our server, feels lean, not complex, feel more like eating minced meat over noodle. Agnolotti - the filling was dense and dry. Mushroom Papadelle - very good. Probably the best among all. Dessert overall was fine.

Fantastic Italian restaurant in west village! This was honestly one of the best pasta restaurants I've been to in Manhattan so far. I especially loved the mushroom pasta we ordered-- the texture of the pasta was fantastic and the sauce was creamy and scrumptious (but not too heavy)! Vibe was great-- definitely a good date night spot (especially in the outdoor patio). Service was fast and good. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving some pasta!

Beautiful date night spot. First time having a lambchop milanese, it was very crispy and delicious. The lamb ragu tagliatelle was also very good. The asparagus was so well seasoned. There's an option to make your own espresso martini which I didn't do but I haven't seen this anywhere else and thought it was pretty unique. Don't skip the bread service!

This review is for dinner. I stumbled upon this place without looking it up prior and was VERY pleasantly surprised by the food and would come back! Walked up with no reservations during the weekday and was seated immediately. It's elevated and feels intimate (white linen tablecloths, waiters are dressed up), but doesn't feel stuffy at all. And doesn't necessarily feel like you need to dress up (lots of people stopped by in casual attire). Service was great. I ordered the below for two. We probably could've ordered one more pasta, but generally was enough food: -Pizzetta al Tegamino: great app. Comes cut into 4 slices. Bread is doughy. Favorite thing we ordered. -Capesante e Ciliegie (scallops): comes with 4. Scallops melt in your mouth. Sauce is fairly mild and light. -Tagliatelle D'Astice (lobster pasta): fresh and light. Sauce isn't creamy. Needed a little salt, but overall enjoyed. Great dish for summer.

Came for dinner with two other friends and had a fantastic meal. Very cozy intimate spot, perfect for date night. We shared the crispy crab tarte, Cesare salad, short rib agnolotti, duck shredded pasta and potato side. The crab tarte was tasty but was probably not ideal to share. The short rib agnolotti and the potato side was our favorite, wished we skipped the duck pasta and just gotten two short rib agnolottis, it was a pack of flavor. For dessert, we got the lemon ricotta cake and the hazelnut mascarpone. The hazelnut was to dieee for and the lemon was a skip. Great spot overall, who doesn't love fresh pasta. Can't wait to be back for a date night.

So glad we dined here because the food was amazing. From the breadsticks, to the scallops, ossobuco & aperol spritz. Delicious and incredibly fresh dishes. The drinks and entrees were some of the best I've had in a while. The food was perfectly seasoned and finely executed. The atmosphere of this cute little restaurant is warm and inviting + friendly service. Would definitely recommend this place to friends visiting the city who want a yummy authentic Italian meal.

Everything is amazing on the menu here; however, the desserts are especially amazing! Got takeout from here recently, and I just couldn't make up my mind. I got the bonet dessert again. My only suggestion for management and the chef, is to introduce a vegetarian section on their menu. Unfortunately, New York has a long way to go when it comes to being vegetarian-friendly, in comparison to California.

A fantastic experience. We had the gnocchi with pesto and zucchini flowers and the pappardelle funghi. There's really not a lot of other veg on the menu that appealed to us. No matter. The pappardelle was excellent. (The gnocchi was ok.) also enjoyed my Barbera wine very much, a perfect pairing with the mushroom sauce. The unexpected piece de resistance was the hazelnut chocolate mascarpone cake. Wow. Go here. Eat that. Feel happy to be alive.

Very good tribeca spot, fine dining experience. Great date spot, not too much traffic and easy to park after 7pm. Italian dishes that had good presentation, taste, and service was very good.

first time here small place and packed. has outside seating. wine list is ridiculously expensive. Hopefully the food is ok. Not bad decent vibe. The food is average. The PAPPARDELLE CON FUNGHI SELVATICI was dry. The lasagna was good. Not bad wasn't disappointed not truly thrilled. Was ok but the wine list is grossly expensive

Yummmmmmmmmm.... It was soooo delicious...Its a real Italian dish...The Italian host was very professional...Definitely, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in a town... Try it and you are not going to regret. Also, make sure double check with the host about today's lunch or dinner. We got a fresh and tasty ones...We loved the thank you sweet at the end...

The good was the best Italian I've had for a long time! The service was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. The ambience is very cozy and inviting! Highly recommend, even though it's a bit pricey- it is well worth it!

We dipped in for a casual meal and fell in love instantly. Cozy, ambient lighting and a welcoming staff made us feel like regulars, although I had never been despite knowing the area. Ramon took care of us start to finish, with great recommendations, a stellar wine list and fresh selections. Food was everything and more--the cold veal, the fresh buratta, and a perfect shared potion of divine rabbit ragout pasta. A fantastic spot for any occasion. Highly Recommend!!!

Sunday for brunch - It's my 3rd time coming here ( twice for dinner ) and this time for brunch. I was excited to come back because of my fond memories of the Prosecco and the dishes I previously had for dinner . Lunch vs dinner is different ( as all places ), my preference is always dinner but the lunch isn't too bad . We shared a salad to start , my friends had a burger and fries , risotto while I had the pasta with porcini mushroom and pasta. I decided to do half with a friend who ordered the burger as I'm a meat eater and love burgers . I wish I didn't as my pasta was the better dish ( pasta cooked al dente And the sauce was well seasoned , delicious ). The burger was medium rare as recommended by the server ( it was a bit rare for my taste). While all were tasty , the food was we're all different temperatures, the burger was cooked and was sitting there a while before served . I wasn't surprise as everything was slow ( from ordering to getting our dishes , check and paying ). I can't blame the server as he was one person with some help but for the amount of patrons , the restaurant needed more. It was disappointing but wouldn't deter me from coming back ( for dinner ) and hopefully my fond memories will remain positive z Great cute place perfect for a small group of friends , dates .

Updated: I received a call from the GM and it's clear customer experience is important to this restaurant, and I appreciate that. My experience did not meet my expectation in one particular way: The menu boasts tajarin, a piemontese dish of finely hand cut fresh pasta. When this is handmade, the appearance and mouthfeel of the pasta is incredible. I think it's important to know that if you've dined at places that have hand cut tajarin, this is not that. Carlina advertised a tajarin but served a thicker noodle looking more like spaghetti/bucatini than angel hair. The GM did indicate that it's machine made and not hand cut, and they do not advertise hand cut pasta. In addition, they currently have a truffle menu in which prices are based on amount of truffle, 3g vs 6g. I was surprised that they advertised price per gram of truffle but then eyeballed the amount instead of weighing. I would recommend weighing for transparency sake. Finally, we sat outside which was fine. However our neighbor was loud and obnoxious at times. This is not the restaurant's fault, but took away from the overall ambience. Shout out to our waiter who was attentive and helpful. Again, if you are looking for the special experience of hand cut tajarin this place may leave you wanting. I appreciate that the GM and staff are attentive to customer experience, and called to discuss the review.

This has become our " fancy night out" spot in NYC. The place is a real jewel box. Professional graceful service. Beautifully prepared food. Highly recommend !!!! ( that said... a few value options on the wine list would be nice)

This was one of the worst dining experiences I can remember. The food was so heavy and it tasted like really bad diner food. Also, I found it very overpriced. $25 for a very nasty, small glass of wine. Really? The uptight maître d', who wore suit was kind of scary and unwelcoming. He gave the place a very eerie, uncomfortable vibe. Not at all like a cool village, restaurant.

I came here after posting a rave review on Resy because our dining experience was THAT GOOD, we want to shout it from the rooftops and i am blown away by the reviewers who are like "meh, the place is small." Get a grip! This the west village, if you want something this restaurant cannot provide, go somewhere else. Elite Yelpers are the most annoying people on the planet. For Real, Back to this gem of a place... it was perfection. we ordered the pizza from the truffle menu and I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven! The pizza was perfection in execution and taste. We also shared the ceasar salad and it was by far the best take on a ceasar we had ever had. Finally, we shared two pastas, my favorite was the stuffed lobster. The flavors were other worldly and the pasta pillow melted in our mouths. The service was so lovely and attentive, 5-star all the way. This might be the best Italian food in all of NYC and we've been to a countless number. A perfect dining experience!

This is the type of place you pray does not get ruined by social media hype if the wrong person discovers the truffle menu. It's a perfect setting for a secluded, refined sampling of regional Italian excellence. For me, number one this month in the category of pleasant surprises--seems like a neighborhood spot from the outside but undoubtedly draws a discerning crowd of regulars from near and far.

After waiting and having 1 1/2 hour wait at some of yelps top places this place is underrated !!! Great service and nice calm atmosphere. Food was good and had a great atmosphere

SUBLIME: my godson took me there for my birthday. It was I was over the top. The service was excellent. The food : Delicious, therefore the place is sublime . The owner: very welcoming and appreciative.

Awsome place in Tribeca. Small and cozy. The north Italian menu from Piemonte is wonderful. The wine menu is great.

Osteria Carlina is a nice addition to the West Village, with good Italian food in a cozy space that's not as loud as some of the restaurants on busier streets. Service was great, with friendly staff who were very attentive and had generous pours for wine by the glass. Appetizers were good -- the meatballs (polpettine) definitely stole the show! The beef tartare was just okay, it didn't jump out as particularly flavorful. And the tuna sauce it came with was a little weird, like eating a puréed can of tuna on top of the beef. I wouldn't go for that particular dish again. For entrees, the ravioli was delicious, with al dente texture and really nice filling. The tagliatelle left something to be desired, though. It was a tad overcooked, and the ragu didn't add much to the dish. Also a little more oily than I would have liked. Tiramisu dessert was well done, served in a glass cup with all the usual trimmings. I could taste the coffee-soaked biscuit and cocoa powder, very impressive. Overall the food was fine, service was great, and ambiance was nice. I think for the price, Osteria Carlina is a decent option if you're looking to venture off the beaten path.

Good, but not great! I didn't agree with all of the choices made, although they seemed interesting on the menu: for example, the ensalata carlina was on a bed of sweet potatoes, but they were cold and the texture just wasn't inviting. I also didn't love the tagliatelle. I also thought the service was very slow, and my drink order came out wrong. I think there is potential but right now it's just not perfect.

The food was delicious! I dined with 2 of my out of town friends and none of us had been there before. The atmosphere was cozy but very warm and inviting. We did ask for more breadsticks a few times and they were never replenished, and they didn't have the cheesecake which all 3 of us wanted but other than those 2 things - the food was amazing. I would definitely return.

We went to Carlina with friends during a week. The place has a beautiful interior and very thoughtful staff. Location is very central on a quiet West Village street. We shared charcuterie and pizza. The meat selection went well with the bread they brought for the table. Pizza was very thick like they do it in Chicago. It was fine. We ordered Paraprdelle with beef ragu, seafood linguine and Baby chicken with mash potatoes. While I enjoyed the parpardelle it felt over salted, the seafood pasta was nice but salty as well. The wine was great. We didn't have any desert. The place was so hot. Not sure if they can control the temperature but we were baked lol.

Food was delicious. We sat in the patio but it is fully enclosed with heaters and is very nice if you like it quiet.

Looking for some European flair to your casual lunch? Look no further than Osteria Carlina! Came here on a Saturday noon, mainly because I wanted pasta. I was met by a wonderful waiter and decided to sit outdoors (because small tables with an umbrella on the sidewalk screams charming italian vibes to me). I ended up ordering a bellini with paccheri ai gamberi con ricotta e pesto and a side of peperoni alla Piemontese. The bellini was good, more alcohol than juice, which is always welcome. The paccheri curbed that pasta craving I had. The pesto was classic: nice basil flavor, not too overpowering on the garlic. The paccheri was tender with a nice bite, and there was enough shrimp added that you didn't feel cheated. The peperoni was a nice compliment, a bit of freshness and herbaceousness to the richness of the main dish. But honestly, you didn't need the peperoni to enjoy the pasta. In addition to the wonderful food, the service was so friendly! I was served by a waiter who enjoyed making small talk. And at a certain point the owner came around and asked us all how we were doing. Overall, if you're looking for affordable and classy Northern italian fare (unless you opt for the truffle menu, that's on you), I would highly recommend this place!

Came to celebrate a special occasion with my girlfriend. We loved our experience and our food! The service by Genti was incredible. He made the evening feel very special with his humor and attention to our needs. he even gifted us a special glass of dessert wine to celebrate our special occasion. Thanking him a lot! I loved the pasta and the vibes. It felt cozy and comfortable. It was easy to converse and set a romantic mood. Not a loud spot like so many restaurants these days

Solid Northern Italian spot in West Village area. It's a little bit tiny but that's New York for you. Not the end of the world. They have a separate menu for anything truffle options, but you can add truffles to anything you order by $20-$30 as well if you want. Focusing on Turin cuisine with generous portion with assertive taste. Service is refined, however, one of the waitresses' accent was very hard to understand but she's Italian and this is an Italian restaurant so I guess I can give it a pass. Drink was a bit too pricey. Might skip the drink next time. But overall, it's worth coming back for.

TL;DR: Modern regional Italian focused on Turin cuisine with generous portioning--upscale w/o excellent unpretentious but refined staff! This is an intimate, cozy neighborhood spot complete with dim lighting and pretty gold accents. It feels like an "undiscovered" gem, but the food's superior quality is only beaten (imo) by Michelin star Italian places like Marea. Osso Buco: Huge portion, but pricy @ $47, though still superbly delicious. The meat falls apart in your mouth. The accompanying rice tastes heavily of saffron--they didn't skimp even though this spice is so expensive. Duck: The most tender duck I've ever had. Not as good as the Osso, but very good. Burrata: Amazing! The cheese was fresh and tasty (tangy) and the prosciutto was the best I've ever had--it didn't feel/taste like "deli meat". So perfectly salted. In addition to the food, the service was so helpful! Osteria Carlina is a good option if you're looking for a cozy "undiscovered" option.

Hmmm, what happened here? The restaurant was packed to capacity when we dropped by for a post dinner drink and "snack." We sat out on the porch and baked under the heat lamps while drinking a very nice Brunello. But the food was disappointing. I had always wanted to try vitello tonnato - after this version, I may never try it again. It tasted like someone opened up a can of tuna and dumped it on some bland tasting veal. The lobster tortelli was amateurish, with a deep tasting lobster sauce, but four stodgy, undercooked tortelli with very small portions of lobster meat inside. Both dishes were pricey. We should have kept walking.

Still fantastic! Food - Is excellent. Simple, fresh ingredients seasoned very well. Shoutout to the seafood pasta and panna cotta. Ambiance - Is lovely; flexible enough to be suitable for anything from a business dinner to a date. Staff - was good. Our server was clearly new, but she was incredibly friendly and clearly wanted us to have a great experience.

If I needed a death row meal..my dinner tonight from Osteria Carlina would be just that. Everything from the location, to the staff, to the ambiance, to the service was perfection. This place deserves to be one of the hardest-to-get reservations in NYC. I cannot wait to go back! This is one of my favorite areas in nyc and I found this place enticing. It is a small spot so make sure to grab a reservation. The tables are close to each other but that is typical for West Village restaurants. They have an adventurous menu so if you like interesting food this is the place to be. The goat cheese fondue appetizer was nicely done. The papardelle with venison was a well made dish. The pasta was al dente and tasted homemade. The venison has a gamey-ness to it but it worked. I went with the rack of lamb for dinner and it was cooked perfectly. The potatoes 3 ways wasn't my favorie though. My wife had the artic char and she enjoyed it. The torta with vanilla gelato at the end was a perfect ending to the meal. Our server Genti was kind and attentive. You can tell they have passion for what they do. Check this place out when in the area!

I've been meaning to try Osteria Carlina for over a year since I saw the restaurant open in a great and convenient area of West Village. Finally got a reservation for 4 people for dinner this past weekend. The ambiance as you enter is stunning, I loved the gold accents on the deep wooden furniture, makes for a very warm dining experience. We started off with a bottle of wine for the table which was a great recommendation from the staff On to the food! The appetizers were delicious. We got the scallops and the meat and burrata plate to share. The scallops were well seasoned, soft and flavorful. The burrata was SO creamy and decadent and the meats paired with it wonderfully. I got the pesto shrimp pasta which was my favorite of all the dishes I tried from others in my group. The duck ragu was also delicious. Unfortunately the mushroom Angel hair pasta fell flat, lacking flavor and felt fairly dry. For dessert we had the tiramisu which felt almost like pudding - must try this item. Overall great experience with the food and service was decent as well. Would recommend if you're looking to try a more unique Italian restaurant in the city!

Starting again to hit the dining out after pandemic Best gift I gave myself Saturday night was going back to this Piedmont refined cuisine little gem . Service , but mostly the vibe , looks like time stops when you enjoys these flavors. Had gnocchi , handmade of course, w shrimp and Gorgonzola cheeseeeeeee ! The cantaloupe melon sorbet / semifreddo : happiness All thumbs up guys Ciao

Surprised there isn't a Michelin star associate with this exquisite restaurant. From the ambiance to the service and the food, my dining companion and I felt taken care of, all of our whole experience was divine. Definitely ask about the specials, glad we did! The seared scallops with white truffle were SO delicious. Glad I went during truffle season! They practically melted in our mouths! The porcetta style duck breast with the raspberry glaze was insane! Every bite was a delicious morsel and couldn't get enough of that glaze! The last dish that we're so glad we asked about was the mushroom raviolis with brown butter sage sauce and SO SCRUMPTIOUS! Love borne butter sage and the mushroom filling was so good. The ravioli was easily identifiable as handmade and was buttery and delicious. An absolute treat yourself meal and one I will definitely return to for fine Northern Italian cooking.

I came here with a close friend I haven't seen in a long while. It was a fantastic evening. The food was great; service impeccable, from the hostess to the servers; and the ambience quite comfortable. They have a more unique menu than most Italian restaurants. The menu is not so extensive (which I was delighted to see as I prefer fewer options sometimes) and you don't see the traditional American-Italian (yes, I put American first as many restaurants have been too Americanized and lose cultural quality) dishes here. The funghi risotto was delicious as was the cod dinner. Their dessert was one of thr best I ever had. Already have plans to go back. You should go!

Such delicious truffle pasta!! I also recommend the scallops as an appetizer. They are small but marinated in the most delicious sauce. The truffle pasta is one of my favorites in the city. They give you a generous amount if you do the $90 one. I will definitely be back. Service was also incredible and so attentive. Truly a hidden gem in the village.

It's a very small restaurant but worth coming to when you need a quick solid Italian restaurant with beautiful intimate vibes. The pasta tasted so fresh. Can not recommend the pappardelle enough with venison. The panna cotta was perfect and not too sweet and they gave us a complimentary Moscato at the end to top off a perfect dinner. Thanks Ramon!

Delicious food in a lovely environment made even more special by the wonderful service. We enjoyed celebrating my husband's birthday. Highly recommend a meal at Osteria.
