We had a nice dinner here but the things did not go as expected, especially for the price. This is the order of the events, like 5-10 min apart: - food ordered - antipasti served - whine served - plates, napkins and ustensile (by request) arrived - pasta dish served - water (by request) arrived - desert ordered and promptly served With our exception all other consumers were served complimentary olive oil and bread. The waiter apologized for his error. A free lemon cello shot offered as compensation. - billed required and promptly arrived So, expect good food but not so good service.

Fun and unique venue, everything we tried was very good. Best sparkling water I have ever tasted.

This is specifically a review of Alpina, their northern Italian pop-up restaurant. Came here for restaurant week for a friend and was very pleased at the amount of food we got for $45. Four courses is very hard to beat! The host (who might have been the manager) and I bonded about being from the same part of Sicily, and he made sure to check on us often. Our server was gregarious but wasn't as present as we'd hoped. I liked how the space was decorated: very ski lodge cozy. Despite being in the middle of the upstairs space, it didn't feel like a food court. I ordered the bruschetta, ravioli, and chocolate cake, and my friend ordered the fondue, pappardelle, and gelato. The bruschetta was delectable! The winter squash was creamy and burrata on top next level, with the right amount of crust. The ravioli was pretty standard, I've had similar at other restaurants or at-home kits, and the chocolate cake was delicious but VERY rich. The gelato helps cut the intensity a great deal. My friend said her fondue was fine, the mushroom pappardelle was incredible, and her gelato was great, but an overwhelming amount of stuff on the side. Our main complaints were that we had to ask about the status of the complimentary fried polenta and my friend's drink. I would go back for the bruschetta alone!

Super selection of Italian delicacies. 2 stories of cheeses pastries meats wines breads sauces dairy items etc. plus you can dine in at their eatery for a small fee lol. Prices are a bit outlandish. I saw a small round chantilly cake for $43! Some slices of pizza were $10. Lots of helpful employees around & everything was very clean & organized well. Good luck finding parking.

If Dante had foreseen Eataly Chicago's Roman Mushroom Pizza, he surely would have added an eleventh circle to hell--one reserved for overpriced, flavorless atrocities masquerading as food. At $12 a slice, I expected, at the very least, a semblance of taste. Instead, I received a tough, uninspired square of dough with mushrooms that seemed to have been harvested from a can labeled Emergency Rations, 1992. The staff, in keeping with the theme, are equally devoid of warmth. If you enjoy being treated as though your very presence is an imposition, you'll feel right at home. I, however, prefer my dining experiences to involve at least a vague sense of hospitality and a pizza that doesn't taste like existential despair. Chicago is a city with an embarrassment of pizza riches. This, unfortunately, is not one of them.

Coming to Eataly is always an experience. I love how big this place is and how many different things there are to try. I went up to the top floor and they had a fun theme going on, so I stopped by the bar for a drink. The bartender was friendly and the drink was delicious. Parking is difficult, but that's just the area.

Eataly Chicago is an absolute must-visit for both locals and visitors! This two-story Italian haven offers an immersive culinary experience that combines shopping, dining, and indulging in all things Italian. Throughout, you'll find an incredible selection of authentic Italian ingredients, from freshly made pasta and artisanal cheeses to premium charcuterie, truffles, and wines. It's the perfect place to stock up on everything you'd need for an authentic Italian meal at home. The second floor is where the magic of dining truly happens. With a wine bar and a dine-in restaurant, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between private Italian restaurant vibes and the energy of a big city. The service was excellent, attentive, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. As for the food, I highly recommend trying a little bit of everything! The meatball appetizer and freshly baked bread were delicious, and the classic spaghetti dishes we tried were some of the best we've ever had. Eataly is more than just a meal; it's an experience. Whether you're shopping for high-quality ingredients, enjoying a glass of wine, or savoring a beautifully crafted dish, it's a place you'll want to visit again and again. It's already on my list of recommendations for friends and family, and I can't wait to return!

Been here multiple times the whole set up is incredible if you been there you know what im talking about. Food is fresh and delicious Highly recommended

I came for lunch at the Vino& Alpina winter pop up and it was my first time at the store. The store itself seemed to have a lot of cool goods and produce and if I lived in river north I would consider frequenting it. The dining experience is what lost two stars from me. It's a really busy restaurant, kind of loud, and there are a lot of people walking around the tables. The winter pop-up theming seemed mediocre and probably would have been better without it. The service felt rushed- when we weren't ready to give drink orders the waiter waited less then 20 seconds before saying, "I'll be back in five minutes please order everything then" in a very abrupt tone. Even the kids at our table said they thought he was being "a d***" based on the tone. The coursing over the food was poorly timed with different entrees arriving 5-10 minutes between each-other for different people. The food had highs and lows- the pasta itself was great (tough to beat homemade noodles) but the tagliatelle al tartufo nero basically just tasted like buttered noodles (and there was a ton of soupy butter in it.). The espresso martini was very good and had some fun aromatics in it. Overall, I would come back for some shopping but the restaurants can be easily skipped- there are certainly better Italian restaurants in chicago and this one seemed expensive for what it was.

Where do I even begin? Eataly Chicago was such a fantastic experience! We stopped in twice--once for coffee and a second time for lunch. The coffee was delicious and authentic, giving us a true taste of Italy right in the heart of Chicago. The lunch was equally incredible, and we couldn't resist shopping for some snacks to bring home. Honestly, they were so good they barely made it through the plane ride! The overall atmosphere is so welcoming and inviting, with amazing staff at every corner, always ready to help or recommend something new. If you're in Chicago, Eataly is a must-visit. I can't wait to return!

I came here twice during my conference, which was held across the street at the Marriott. At first, I thought the prices were steep for a large coffee and a croissant with prosciutto at $14. But I went to another cafe and it was the 25% more. I love this place because of the friendly staff, quick service and the free sparkling water, which was refreshing after my run and served as a palate cleanser. Going forward, I will seek out Eatelys in the future. Come and enjoy this place! It is only two blocks from the hustle and bustle of Michigan Ave

I love Eataly! I love how you have the different regions of fresh foods made to order, a fresh marketplace for fruits/veggies, a stacked wine market covering all varietals of vino & sparkling wines, a butcher & seafood department... All things Italy in Eataly! There is always someone with a smile willing to help you in this enormous marketplace! Oh! A restaurant exists within a restaurant here! It doesn't quite give you a traditional Italian market but with all the different points of purchase, it makes your experience more quaint & enjoyable. If you like prosciutto, you're in luck! Their prosciutto is aged up to 24 months... it melts in your mouth! Great desserts. Just go! Highly Recommend!

Eataly is worth checking out at any location you can. They are always in bustling neighborhoods and they are always well managed, great food, and it's always fun visiting around any holiday because they give you a great feeling just walking into them. Chicago's was my first one and most frequently visited. Most recently went in there to grab some lunch and drinks and also buy groceries for a big dinner. We had some of the best pizza I've ever had, great cocktails, then we got some amazing seafood, beef, and produce for our dinner.

There is a lot to love about the Eataly brand including the variety of options all under one roof. You can eat, drink and shop to your Italian hearts content. The Venchi shop is a favorite due to the bombolonis. Here comes the frustration...at each out our visits, three now, the only filling is tiramisu. It's delicious but at 12pm why are the other flavors not available? Next, I saw beautiful bottles of Italian fragola (strawberry) syrup on a shelf at the gelato stand. I asked what it is used for and told it's for the coffee, dessert, sandwich shop across the way. I want to buy a bottle! So, I went across the way and was told that they don't sell it there but in the store. So I walked around and upstairs with no luck. Finally spoke with a guy loading wine and he said it wasn't sold and we both agreed it is a missed opportunity. Ugh! Lidia, in case you are reading this review, please take note No matter what, Eataly is a feast for the eyes and your tummy! Buon appetito!

I love the first floor in Eataly for a quick bite. The counters are all grab & go style, with lots of seating available. My friends and I got a bit of everything to try. The pizza was all soft and fluffy. I liked the sauce on the pepperoni slice, but my favorite was the mushroom slice.

I had not heard of Eataly (it sounds like I'm in the minority here) so I didn't quite know what to expect when venturing over for a team dinner this week. Wow! What a place - it's like a mall of food! If I were to live near this place I would have bought so much - everything looked fabulous from fish, to pizza to dry goods and wines! Our team dinner was fabulous too. We had ordered a carb heavy menu and had to add some protein items on. The staff was so helpful and easy going with the pivot to additional items and they were a hit to boot. The cod specifically was a huge hit with many comments that it was one of the best fish dishes ever. Great experience and fingers crossed one pops up in Portland!

This has been a fun stop for a meal, while passing through the grocery items. The food in the past has been full of flavor and fresh. This time the focaccia was two day old dry, the focaccia we bought in the grocery items was fresher than today in a restaurant. The salad had fresh lettuce and nice flavor. The spaghetto also pomodoro was salt, was suppose to have peppers, but maybe saw one. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The service was quick and present, but not overly attentive nor hovering. Even when busy it did not seem too loud with clatter or chatter. The restrooms were not the cleanest, for restaurants, could have used attention and it was early in the day.

Eataly is such a fun experience! I also love that you can typically grab a table on the 2nd floor, even when it is super busy. Everything is sooo good! We had the mushroom pasta and a pizza and both were amazing! They have great kids options too. There is so much to see and take in! Tons of great give items too! It's a fun, delicious, bustling place!

Eataly's is a must stop for us when we visit Chicago because of the unique layout, impressive Italian ingredients and immersive experience blending both dining and shopping opportunities . Our experience started in the confectionery section. Many delicious looking pastries, candies, cannoli's bleeding into a delicious looking gelato section. Of course the kids wanted gelato. One scoop is over $6 and two scoops was $1 more. We waited patiently for an unsmiling employee to inform us she would be with us in a minute. That's fine. I gave my order, and she proceeded to scoop it up wrong. I quickly corrected her so she wouldn't have to re-do it and with some low key aggressiveness, she challenged my order repeating it incorrectly. No big deal. I just repeated what we wanted. She scooped it up rung us up and we were on our way. The thing is... the whole experience of dropping $17+ on gelato for the littles would have been more pleasant with basic customer service skills. Clearly, this employee made it seem like she was doing us a favor by taking our order, low key blamed us for not getting our order right, and then did not thank us, smile at us, or even engage in any type of conversation. This same employee also later pushed past my husband so she could clean a table?!? As we ate our gelato we witnessed another employee from the cafe section push past another customer so she could get herself some free water instead of letting the customer fetch her water first. These seemingly little things can really influence the vibe of a place. We left here feeling like we paid a high price for at best indifference and at worst feeling like our presence here was an inconvenience. I did find some goodies upstairs including fresh tarragon to use for Thanksgiving and a large yummy tiramisu that was $17.95. I just sampled it on our car ride home and thought the ingredients are superior, but the lack of care, precision, and love when constructing this dish was sorely lacking. The espresso soaked ladyfingers didn't even span across the dish. Certainly not worth our money or time on what should have been an enjoyable experience. Management would do well on retraining employees on basic customer service skills as well as appropriate construction of these expensive dishes. For now ,the Eataly manifesto, "Our passion has become our job," seems like a bad pun much like its name sake. I do hope things change.

This was a quick lunch with the hubby. Food is always good. We opted to have this sandwich made at the counter and split it. Cashier was friendly and informative. It's a marketplace with little restaurants. It's a fun place to shop for any Italian.

I'm not a local but had heard of Eataly in NY via one of my favorite podcasts, so I was excited to check it out. Having no clue that it was a specialty grocery store, I walked in believing it to be a restaurant. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised to find several places to dine, a really decent wine selection, and a lot of imported Italian goods (pastas, oils, cheeses, etc). The dining area upstairs by the bar was super cute and we stopped to have a quick bite just to say we tried it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our apps were delicious and so were our cocktails. We walked around a bit just checking out the different departments. Seems like a great place to shop or sit down for a meal!

Specific shoutout to Derrick G; our server at Osteria. It was a birthday celebration on a time crunch and he made the whole experience just perfect!!!! Thank you!!!

Another beautiful experience at Eataly! I signed up for the hands-on Neapolitan Pizza making class. It was great! We were greeted with a nice glass of Prosecco and escorted to a beautiful table. There were twelve of us and we were all first timers. Our host was funny, friendly and patient. The dough took the longest to prepare. When we were done playing around with it, it was wrapped in plastic and boxed up. It takes twenty-four hours for a good Italian dough to proof. Thankful and grateful for the restaurant having enough dough prepared for us to each make our own pizza. Of course, we had to shape it, stretch it and top it. I was getting hangry but the second glass of Prosecco helped. Besides, it only takes 90 seconds for the pizza to finish in the 900 degree oven. So much fun!!!

On a recent visit to Chicago, I stopped in Eataly as I had heard so much about it. The size and scope are a bit overwhelming at first. I did not eat in their restaurant but did get some gelato to go which was very good. I also bought some items to take home to Phoenix to cook later. Impressed with the variety and quality of all products. The vast selections of sauces, dried pastas, fresh cut pastas, olive oils, cheeses and cured meats. Cast wine selection, my favorite limoncello. Also a variety of housewares. And ohhh the desserts looked sooo good! Can't forget those! The service people I encountered were all helpful and friendly. Next time I am back in Chicago I will definitely stop in for a meal.

The olive oil spaghetti was quite basic but still pretty creamy and filling. The restaurant is located towards the top level of the grocery store which we initially couldn't find at first glance. Overall it was a good dinner but we waited 25+ minutes for our servers to check on us because they were so busy which wasn't the greatest

We don't have an Eataly in the DMV yet, so I was excited to finally check this place out while in Chicago. I wasn't disappointed! DC folks in the know will probably make a comparison to Litteri's (Annapolis, think Giolitti's). The difference is, this shop is WAY bigger! Think a two story department store that only sells Italian food and wine, plus has restaurants and other cooking products. It's immense! The store doesn't carry your standard local grocery store products, either. No "Di Cecco" or "San Giorgio" or the like. Everything seems to be very niche, very ... "imported." LOL! But, the quality does look to be on par with the prices. I didn't come here to shop, though (sadly); I was here for lunch. The upstairs restaurant did not disappoint! I ordered the seasonal ravioli, which was stuffed with cheese and served in a light tomato sauce. The pasta was slightly undercooked (think pre-al-dente), but it was still very delicious. You could tell it was handmade. We shared a few dishes at the table, so I can say that the focaccia and burrata are NOT to be missed!! Amazing taste and quality!! I'd easily order them both myself. I tried a bite of the cacio e pepe as well, and that one is also on my "to order" list! Small note, but not to be missed is the imported Molecola. Short version: it's Italian Coca-Cola, but probably better. I love this stuff and I was so excited to see it on the menu. They had other Italian sodas as well, also well worth trying. There were several food stands downstairs too, like a mini-Italian-food-court kind of setup. They had freshly baked pizza, gelato, sandwiches, lunch plates (like micro-charcuterie), and I think one or two other stands. I was there for the upstairs restaurant, so I don't remember every stall, but it looked really appealing! I get that this place is expensive... it's in downtown Chicago right off the Magnificent Mile. It's in a desirable part of town. Also, the food and service quality were superb. So, it's worth it, believe me. They do cooking classes and other events, but I was only here (as a tourist) for lunch. Whatever the case, it's worth checking out!

I love this place! There's so many to see, try, eat and drink! It's a grocery store with lots of gourmet food and wine to explore. Then there's a restaurants and bars upstairs ! We dined here for pizza and pasta, but the service was truly the best. Our server/ bartender found out we were from out of town and celebrating a birthday, and he showered us with great hospitality! Thanks for a memorable night in Chicago!

Got a tomato mozzarella and basil on a roll. While the mozzarella and tomato portions were generous, the basil portion was pathetic (see picture). When I complained to the manager (red dyed hair gentleman) of the downstairs bakery, his comment was "that sandwiches from upstairs and is (tiny piece of basil) what corporate tells us to put on the sandwich" I just don't get it. Easily is an Italian restaurant, basil is one of its key ingredients, and this guy (dyed red hair guy) couldn't find a few more basil leaves for me?

This was a fun experience. Lots of fresh pasta, cheeses, meats, pizza and more. In addition to ready made items you can indulge in seasonings, personal goods (lotion, hair care, etc) and chocolates, all made in Italy. We got some pasta, pizza, salad and baked goods to go. All were excellent except the pasta was a handful of noodles sort of stuck together which required cutting by a knife. I could have spent a lot of time here checking out the various specialty items if we had more time. I recommend!

This is one of the smaller Eatalys that I have been to, and I wasn't overly shocked by it. Nearly all of the upstairs is the restaurants and wine shop, but the problem was both the escalators and the elevator were broken. Not ideal for handicap or parents. The shopping was a lot smaller than I expected and there were less little stands to grab goods at. This probably isn't an eataly I'd go out of my way for again.

The most amazing place I have ever been to! I wish there was one in every major city! The wine, food, and assortment of imported good is absolutely abundant and devine!

Visited while on vacation. Enjoyed the shopping area of wines and spices more than the food. Enjoyed appetizers before leaving with several bottles of wine. Good wine selection, makes fresh pasta onsite, and has some grab food items to enjoy outside of the sit down restaurant area. Also has a small section of desserts. Fresh and authentic Italian.

A fun Italian food experience! Great foods ready to go . The squid ink pasta with seafood is Devine. It's fun to walk around and grab some of your favorite authentic Italian goods. Unfortunately They were a little thin on gelato flavors the other day. They only had 3 flavors to offer. I don't know if they were in the process of stocking up? I have been here before when they've had a much better selection of gelato.

Awesome find in Chicago. Feels like stopping in a little slice of Italy. This will make a unique surprise for my family during the holidays for gifts. Everything from honey and treats to oil wine and balsamic. Very organized and staff was kind and helpful. Love the feeling in the store and it wasn't crowded. Expect multi levels including a restaurant. I focused on the shopping center on the first floor. Expansive selection and staff was polite and helpful.

Wow! The table side show of the pasta in the parmigian wheel- servers were amazing and wine and cocktails were amazing !

Eataly is my happy place. I adore going here when I can fit it in. Tried the pizza for the first time and it is phenomenal. Lots of options, too. You will 100% come out with things you didn't go in there for. Great protein and cheese selection, too. Great option for picnics or quick lunches, too.

We visited Eataly in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend, and it was a preplanned destination because we were told it was a must-see. The place is bustling and full of energy, which adds to the experience. It's a bit touristy, but the variety and quality of Italian products make it worth a visit. We picked up some pasta made in Italy, which had a great selection. The staff were helpful in recommending different types. The gelato was delicious, with a good range of flavors to try. We particularly enjoyed the pistachio and the classic stracciatella. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the products justifies it. The atmosphere can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends, but it's part of the charm. If you're in the area and love Italian food, Eataly is definitely worth a stop.

Eataly is crazy awesome. As the name suggests, if it's Italian and you in some way can eat it, they have it. From make your own from scratch to prepared how you want it, Eataly does not disappoint. Helpful staff and a two-story ambiance of pure coolness.

The food was great. The rosemary focaccia was served hot with infused olive oil and Maldon salt and absolutely delicious. I loved the tagliatelle bolognese along with my mocktail (and the imported mineral water). I also had a pleasant and knowledgeable waiter. Eataly has several different concepts within the space. On one hand, this is convenient--there's two different grocery concepts, one focused more on wine, and the other on other imported Mediterranean goods that are likely hard to find elsewhere. There are also two different cafes on ground level, one with only pastries and the other with sandwiches and other casual dining options. All of these are pretty clearly divided. Where the confusion (at least to me) comes in is the several different restaurant options on the second floor. There's a huge dining area, but each section has a different menu, and you are restricted to the menu in whichever section you choose to sit. I don't inherently have an issue with that, but it's not divided and branded enough to tell which restaurant concept you've chosen until you get the menu, if you've never been there before. The second floor bathroom was absolute filthy. I would have liked to explore the grocery sections more and purchase a few imported goods, so if I'm ever in the area again, I'd consider going back, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

A culturally rich Italian atmosphere that helps make you feel like you're closer to Italy than you are to Chicago! The pasta was incredible and the restaurant being immersed in the Italian market I thought was so much fun! This place is located downtown and is a neat area to investigate if you're a tourist. The price is overpaid for the quantity of the food, however, the taste is great and fairly authentic.

Yum! I haven't been here in a LONG time and it still tastes delicious! We got the calamari, bruschetta primavera, and zucchini fritters. We also got this pasta with light cream sauce and shrimp, and pizza marinara. We got the week restaurant deal with 2 for $26..1 app and 1 main course. You can also order wine that pours about 3-4 glasses from $30-60. Calamari was delicious but it was small with fried zucchini. I felt I got cheated on this for $21. I expected more. Zucchini fritters- yummmm! It tasted like buttered pretzel bread and zucchini. Bruschetta Primavera was not what we expected. Definitely needed to read the description. It was whipped ricotta with basil, pesto, and greens. It was okay. A bit heavy! Maybe add some truffle Pasta with shrimp- delicious! The angel hair pasta was so fresh! Shrimp was delicious. I could had more! Pizza marinara- we didn't know that it was just literally bread with sauce. I thought it was margarita pizza. Liessss Wine was delicious that the waiter recommended. Service was on point. We loved having an Italian waiter. It literally felt like you were in Italy. He was so attentive!

I went to the restaurant in the upper level and It might have been the best pie I've ever had. My tongue was dancing with joy! The service was fast and friendly and plenty of seating. I had my desert downstairs and It was soooooo good! Highly recommend this place.

Fun store. Little bit of everything here. Bakery, Deli, Winery, Restaurants, Cafe and more. Space for Private events and Education Room. Our visit was on New Year's day. We came after dinner at nearby restaurant. This store is all things Italy. So many items to buy and to Eat- Italy. The restaurant looked really good. I bet their pasta is delicious. Next time!!! On this occasion we opted for some pastries to take home. Good choice and they actually lasted until we got home. Lol Check this place out. They have educational classes and I think it would be fun to explore their offerings.

LaPizza LaPasta was quite good. Basic Margarita Pizza cheese was excellent, even with a soggy middle. Spaghetti Pomadoro was simple and very delicious. Lemonade was sweet and strong.

First off, we were soooo excited to try this place! It was right across our hotels and we heard some great things about this place. It is super confusing to navigate when walking in, it took us a bit to find the restaurant but it's pretty cool to have a grocery store in there. We started off with a pizza, and the pizza is SO GOOD! The calamari and zucchini was spectacular. The moscato was perfection. The service was AMAZING! Although, our server didn't let us know that they charge for certain type of water... the pasta though... we didn't care for surprisingly. I love pasta and I was so bummed the the pasta was SO SALTY. There was 2 pasta that we just couldn't eat... one tasted like straight sardines and was off putting. We didn't want to make a big fuss though. Great place, would give it another try if we visited Chicago again.

This was such an interesting concept! We loved the to-go options on the first level because we had 2 little kids and knew we would not have time to sit for long! And they were delicious! We tried the Prosciutto sandwich, Mortadella sandwich and the Soppresseta pizza. All were super filling and full of flavor! Service was friendly and super fast! We loved how they had so many little areas to sit and that they had markets throughout to purchase different items! Next time we would love to sit down at one of the restaurants upstairs to try more!!

On a way to a show downtown my husband and I stoped here for dinner. We were very lucky to visit during the restaurant week. We loved everything the truffle pizza was amazing as was the hand made pasta with pesto and tiny bits of asparagus it was all green so it counts as veggies right. Service was very attentive. We wished we had more time to say and explore the store. Five stars all around!

Our waiter Derrick was awesome. He provided us an excellent choice of food to eat. He was very detailed explained every food and drink option.

The best Pomodoro I've had in a long time! Don't forget the cannoli! The store can be overwhelming, lots of people lots going on. We got a table and ate first and then walked around a bit more to see every department. Eating first always helps!
