Otherside Market & Deli - Review - Eastlake - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The owners of this Eastlake sandwich shop used to helm Lyon’s Grocery across the lake in Queen Anne—a fact that not only justifies the deli’s name, but tells you the kind of handheld repertoire we’re dealing with here. And the goods are great. Italian subs double down on ham, along with a subtle acid jolt from pepperoncinis and a splash of red wine vinegar. Gooey breakfast sandwiches (smashed between bagels supplied fromBackyard) could fuel us for the entire week. And toasty turkey-bacon numbers moistened with warm ranch and pepperjack are just as satisfying as they are rich. Lunch flies out in a few minutes, and the market has a nice selection of chips and drinks for sandwich supplementing." - Aimee Rizzo

Update: the new Bull Rider with au jus is bonanos good!! I’d been waiting to write a review until after I’d tried a few sandos. Otay y’all, I have, and the review is stellar - Jong makes the best sandwiches I’ve had yet in Seattle, and Won is a friendly clerk. They are a great new addition to the neighborhood and I am glad. House made sauces, coleslaws, quality breads, cheeses and meats, and reasonable prices mean I became a quick regular shortly after their recent opening. They have all been very good- Tuna melt, I Love NY, the reubens, Bull Rider. But so far my fav is the Chicken Olé! See video for some idea of the seriousness o this sandwiiche. Most are messy, and that is a good thing. Large vegetarian menu. Nice sunny tables out front. Mind the construction. Deli closes at 5. Can park on Boston just west of Eastlake, next to Serafina and Armistice.

I walked past it and could immediately smell the wonderful smell of hot cheese, meat, and bread. They’re in there pumping out 10/10 quality sandwiches from a menu of 40 different sandwiches. I ate the bull rider and immediately was sent to sandwich heaven. Unfortunately for my waist size, I live right up the hill and I made it my mission to eat every sandwich on the menu. Fortunately for my wallet, the prices are extremely reasonable. For non-sandwich-enjoyers, it seems like a very well stocked store with cheeses, groceries, pet food, snacks, alcohol, sodas, you name it. I also just want to say that I’m very pleased that the builders of the apartment building decided to add storefront to the bottom of their building. In my opinion, that decision has raised the quality of the Area 100x because now I have a beautiful little sandwich store to eat at. If every apartment builder in Eastlake did that, Imagine all of the sweet little stores I could visit. Whoever’s in charge of these decisions, please hit me up so I can thank you personally.

Google
First time in Otherside Market Deli and will definitely be back. The sandwiches I got were the Turkey BLAT and the French Dip and they both were amazing! The owner as well was nice and welcoming.

Just moved to the neighborhood and I was worried we wouldn't find a deli to match our old one. This place is even better! Got the turkey ranch and the otherside reuben. Both were delicious, but the reuben in particular was amazing. Can't wait to work my way through their menu!

Literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had. The Bull Rider was life changing. My wife had the Vegi Rider and she loved it as well. The prices are great, portions are massive, the market is clean with lots of options for snackies and drinks, and Mr. Won is an OG, awesome guy. This is definitely my new go to spot for good food.

Google
Turkey Reuben is such a good sandwich! And there's lots of other goodies in the market, eggs and chips and frozen items and such, true bodega experience. Definitely check it out!

Google
I wish I could give more than 5 stars, their sandwiches are incredible! High quality ingredients and made with care. The rest of the market is also great and has a huge variety of items, prices are super reasonable all around. The owners are SO nice and we can’t wait to try all of their sandwich options!!

Yelp
Five stars feels inadequate for what happened to me at Other Side Market. I'm pushing 40 years old, I've traveled the world eating sandwiches, and I just ate the best sandwich of my life. After devouring my bull rider sandwich I contemplated walking back and immediately getting another one. Honestly, I debated not writing this because I don't want the line getting longer. But greatness must be recognized.

Yelp
After testing them all, THIS is my favorite sandwich shop in Seattle currently. While it may not be the easiest place to get to or park at (I recommend the free parking lot in front of "Son of a Butcher" or the paid one right above it on E Lynn St + Eastlake Ave E) it's worth finding your way here to try the amazing menu of sandwiches offered here as well as the curated grocer goods at this corner market. They use boar's head deli ingredients and whip them into masterful creations like the MUST TRY bull rider sandwich which is a french dip with caramelized onions, mama's lil peppers, garlic aioli and au jus to dip in. Muuuust try. But they have a wide assortment of hot and cold sandwiches that are great, though I think the hot sandwiches really stand out and particularly the bull rider. The corner store itself has a nice selection, like the Vybes Magnesium-infused low-calorie drinks you can't find many spots because they're from CA. Lots of little fun things to get while you wait for your sandwich. Owners are sweethearts too. Just remember the line can get long during rush hours so I recommend off hours, it's a very small spot with no indoor seating just 3 outdoor tables.

Yelp
Otherside Deli is the best thing to happen to Eastlake in the last 5 years, maybe even longer. In a neighborhood that is filled with mediocre delis, Otherside shines like the beautiful star it is. This is the closest thing you will find to a NY style sandwich place in the area. I'll be here multiple times a week now, and you should too. Here's why... No idea where their sub rolls come from, but they're ideal for sandwiches. My guy Won does NOT skimp on sauces (which I'm pretty sure he makes there), and thus a bread that can withstand a proper onslaught of condiments is critical for sandwich integrity. This loaf is up to snuff. I've tried 5 or so sandwiches here already, and the ratios are right where they need to be. You can tell that the sandwich artists here are properly calibrated when they're on shift. Creating a dream sandwich is a delicate dance of art and math that can only be mastered after you've eaten 10,000 sandwiches yourself (Gladwell, et al.) You're going to get a solid bite that includes every ingredient, every time. The hot subs are toasted in a way that makes the bread crispy, but doesn't leave you with soggy ingredients. I urge you to follow down this path - you can tell that a lot of thoughtfulness went into the curation of this section of the menu. Putting coleslaw on a sandwich can a career ending mistake if your slaw is trash. However, Won's is top notch. They will recommend the Bill Rider to you, but go for The Ave. It's a special type of sandwich that I've never had before. Something about that tangy barbecue sauce mixed with the slaw puts it over the top. And that crispy bacon... you can tell that they really appreciate bacon here. It's on at least half of the sandwiches on the menu. Otherside must be protected at all costs while there is construction around the entirety of Lake Union. Go get a sandwich!!

Yelp
I love a sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich and was so excited to see that they have them! They use backyard bagels too which is def a plus. The bagel sandwich was so hearty - the egg was fluffy, bagel was soft, and the sausage was yummy. You get a choice of swiss or cheddar, bacon sausage or ham, and everything or plain bagel. The shop itself was great! They pack it in there but they have all of the staples you'd need and more. Lots of wine and specialty drinks and items as well! Wish this was in our neighborhood so we could come by all the time. The owners are so sweet too!

Yelp
These are the absolute best sandwiches in Seattle. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. The hot sandwiches are especially elite. Highly recommend getting the Ave (our OG favorite) and the Bullrider (this was INCREDIBLE!!! a new favorite). The bread is always crispy on the outside even with all that glorious juiciness inside. Flavors are unbeatable. Pictures don't do these sandwiches justice. A must try!!!
