"Fun, lively and offering something fresh and exciting to the Reykjavik dining scene, OTO is one of the hottest tickets in town thanks to its bustling atmosphere and Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine. The uncommon pairing works a treat, with their shared ingredient-led approach resulting in dishes that showcase clever cross-cuisine combinations and deliver pure, natural flavours – like a take on scallops Florentine enhanced by the piquancy of ponzu and the warming spice of shichimi. If you can’t decide, go for their version of a kaiseki menu." - Michelin Inspector

This place is great for couples, their plates are designed for sharing, they are bigger than Tapas dishes but smaller than appetizers. The service is great The food is fantastic The atmosphere is good The shrimp Yakatori is amazing The Beef Tataki is savory The Iberico is rich and tender. The lobster bisque was a little overly salted for my taste, but for my partner it was right on and the pasta was perfectly al dente. (Notice: you need to pay extra for their milkbread and spread. But we definitely recommend it!) They truly stand by their Michelin star. restaurant. This cost us 29.000isk (198€ / 228usd) On 6. November 2025.

I discovered this restaurant via Social media and decided to book it during our stay in Iceland. Being Italian and loving Japanese kitchen I had an enormous hope for this dreamy restaurant. Beer was interestingly good with a zesty note. Bread and butter could have been perfect if not both too salty. Beef tartare great. Tagliatelle with duck ragu unfortunately too oily and greasy :( the overall flavour was ok- could have been the oil of the cashew or perhaps the sun-dried tomatoes? Shame because they looked awesome. Tiramisu was as good as mamma makes it so it’s always nice to end the meal with something delicious! Coffee was good too. The restaurant looks great and staff were good, I would have appreciated a slower pace of service but generally the ambiance was good.

Visited in October 2025 (with a reservation). OTO is a Japanese and Italian fusion restaurant. Their listing as a Michelin restaurant has our attention when visiting Iceland. When arriving, their team members asked if we wanted them to store our coats and showed us to our table. They mentioned how the menu works, portion sizes and the suggested number of plates for us in total. Cocktails were pleasant, but my star was the Midori mocktail. Better than the reg Midori I ordered. The food was great! Japanese milk bread came out with our Miso spread and they added some tofu spread that was legendary. Gyoza and Arancini were unique takes and very tasty. We had them with some ponzu sauce. Celeriac steak and Japanese sticky rice with their OTO seasoning/toppings (sesame seeds, panko bread crumbs and something else). We were full but had to try the chocolate gelato, which was nice for dessert. Service overall was excellent, team members explained each dish as they dropped them off and answered questions we had before/during/after the meal. It’s a pricey experience, but would absolutely eat here again.

Absolutely amazing experience at OTO in Reykjavík! The food was creative and full of flavor, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, making the whole evening perfect. Highly recommend OTO if you want something truly special in Reykjavík

Fine tasting menu that could have been better executed for a Michelin starred restaurant. See tasting menu as of September 2025x Vibey, nightclub house style restaurant that performs to par. The tasting menu was well constructed however it contained many rich tasting dashes back to back. We had a very rich broth followed by a very rich gelato. The last dish was a tiramisu that was very deliciously done, however the coordination of dishes could have better executed. Hospitality was done well, except we were not notified that when we ordered their bread (first photo - delicious) the tofu butter was an additional price. The tofu was nothing to be excited about and bland in flavor in comparison to their bread. Not communicating transparent pricing and that addition, is frustrating when you already are paying tens of thousands of kronars… For the price and execution, there are many other fine Icelandic restaurants that deserve the attention.

This was honestly the worst meal (both in terms of food and value for money) I had in my 2 weeks in Iceland. I had high expectations for it since it was in the Michelin guide but everything was incredibly salty I couldn’t taste much else. Portions are small and the fusion Japanese Italian food didn’t really work for me – it was neither here nor there. Although I found that certain restaurants in Iceland may be on the salty side, OTO was definitely the worst offender. The lemon dessert was also rather meh - I didn’t even bother finishing it despite being a sweets lover. There are so much other better places to eat than here.

Phenomenal experience. Food was excellent, must visit! Our waitress was very helpful since we were vegetarians, had the best time! Highly recommend. We had the milk bread, tofu spread, bikini, gyoza, crudo and the cheese ravioli(forgot its name). All very tasty!

The agnolotti (not pictured here) was fantastic and the milk bread was also very solid. We thoroughly enjoyed the Iberico yakitori skewers but afterward that’s when things started to go downhill. Both the shrimp and chicken yakitori were served at room temperature. For the shrimp it just took away from the pleasantness of the dish but for the chicken we became concerned when we saw that the chicken was also slightly red. I cook regularly and if my chicken is red but piping hot then I can attribute it to the bone bleed which sometimes happens and is completely safe. However I cannot take a risk on lukewarm chicken that looks that way. Anyway, the waiter was very cool about it and offered to comp the chicken and also provide a complimentary dish which was arancini balls - however these too were lukewarm. This was not Michelin star - not even close and I was not satisfied paying this much for a meal of this quality.
