Our Zone Opens in Brighton With Sichuan Cuisine | Eater Boston

"I discovered a Sichuan restaurant along Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton, right by the Washington Street T stop; Our Zone replaced Chang’s House at 1583 Commonwealth Ave. It offers a wide range of options, including dumplings, vegetables, and hearty noodle and stir-fry dishes. Stir-fried vegetables are plentiful—green beans, cabbage, and shredded potato—and noodle soups come with assorted beef toppings like beef tongue, tripe, tendon, and brisket. Dumplings are reportedly made in-house with cabbage, scallions, and pork, and larger entrees range from stir-fried chicken and Chinese sausage fried rice to shredded pork, fish fillet with pickled cabbage and chili, and salt and pepper chicken. The restaurant offers both takeout and delivery (available on Ricepo and Foodeasygo), with dine-in and takeout service seven days a week from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and delivery until 1 a.m." - Dana Hatic

One of my favorite spots in Brighton, it was my second time coming in with my partner and we were received with the same attention than our first time. We are very adventurous eaters, we orders for appetizers the steamed pork and cabbage dumplings and the sweet and sour ribs and for our main course the Bull Frog dish, and the pork kidney with bean paste, and the waitress/owner described the dish very well and let us know they will be small bones, she wanted to make sure we liked the dish and we sure did. She also gave us a complementary dish that was the only one I took a picture of, it was fried sausage with a fresh cabbage salad, it was honestly so good, sweet spicy and meaty!! I love it and can’t wait to be back!

We were here on a cold night. It's a beautiful family run restaurant. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and food is delicious and most authentic in town. Their ingredients are FRESH and just in the right balance. We loved the hostess who is a very kind and humble person. She treats you like a family member and is so friendly and welcoming. This is our go to place for comfort and nourishing food ❤️🙏

Absolutely authentic Chinese food. I've looked all over the US for such a place and have never found it anywhere. The food is absolutely delicious! They have classics like preserved egg (Yum yum yum), delicious pepper dishes, dumplings, pots, etc. I love the spicy chicken with bone in (though I do wish a boneless option was available at times). My partner loves the pork belly, green beans, eggs. The peppers and pork delicious! I just can't say enough great things about the food. Keep up the great work!

11/10 quality, taste, service!! tastes just like home and price is also one of the most reasonable in the area! automatically became a go to restaurant upon first visit. got the pork and green peppers, dan dan noodles, spam fried rice, mapo tofu, and shredded potatoes and each dish was ABSOLUTELY delicious!!

This place instantly reminded me of those cozy, no-frills restaurants you find in every university district back in China: simple décor, comforting home-style dishes, and very student-friendly prices. The food isn’t about fancy presentation or luxurious flavors, but I believe it’s the type of place many students would return to again and again. Here, I had the best duck blood I’ve ever eaten in the U.S., which left me very satisfied. Even my husband, who normally doesn’t like pig or duck blood, thought their duck blood was absolutely delicious. Both of us liked the friendly and gentle lady owner, who made the whole experience feel extra warm and welcoming.

When I say this owner and her husband know what is authentic Sichuan food, I mean it. This small restaurant is a hidden gem in Brighton. I genuinely believe their presence elevates the neighborhood. Their menu is small because (1) their dishes are carefully selected and (2) they continue to remove unpopular dishes throughout the year and add new dishes that they master. The place looks frill-less from the outside, but their dishes can take you on a trip to inland China with just one bite. Note: Their foods are SPICY and can be oily. But whoever cooks knows that oil is essential to some delicious dishes. If you care deeply about a diet and can’t slack for a day, Sweetgreen is two miles away. Also, don’t ask them to reduce the spiciness or oil because it’s like asking KFC not to fry their chicken——it’ll be soulless. However, if you are adventurous and curious about the real Sichuan dishes without leaving Boston, this is where you should go. I didn’t grow up eating spicy food, but I’ve come to adapt the spicy taste and quite like it. Now my boyfriend and I come here every weekend to try a new dish and have made this our weekly ritual. Still, be prepared for some tastebud kicks, because you are going to experience the real deal!

Very authentic Sichuan cuisine with excellent hot pot meals for two (pictured). Staff offers to help you with spice level preferences if needed which is nice. Cute decor & light seating. No alcohol, but a wide variety of delicious seltzers, juices, and teas. Great spot for lunch/dinner with friends or a casual date.

Good service. Excellent value. My death row meal is the double cooked bacon and garlic bak choy… seriously. Bone-in spicy chicken dish with potatoes but I understand that’s the style. Making this place a staple!
