The Best Restaurants in Denver | Eater Denver

"Anyone who thinks sandwiches and pizza can’t hit the heights of culinary ingenuity hasn’t heard of AJ Shreffler — which places them in a small minority among dedicated Denver diners. Meticulously sourced ingredients, the skills to match them, and generous portions ensure his cheesesteaks and pies live up to the hype while more than justifying their prices (around $20 and upwards of $30, respectively); snacks and specials like mozzarella sticks, loaded fries, and clams casino also make for a meal worthy of a white-cloth restaurant, though the sunny little beer bar Little Arthur’s is operating out of suits it just fine too." - Ruth Tobias

Denver’s Best Pizza Restaurants | Eater Denver

"Bursting onto the Denver dining scene with a hugely successful pop-up hoagie shop, AJ Shreffler is now running the kitchen at Cap Hill beer bar Out of the Barrel, where he’s slinging not only sandwiches but pies as gargantuan as they are gorgeous. As the famous quote goes, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication; in this case, every last ingredient exudes integrity — crunchy-tender crust, topflight cheeses, fresh herbs, Sicilian olive oil, and all." - Paul Albani-Burgio

We drove from Evergreen just to eat here. Arrived around 5PM on a Saturday thinking we'd beat the rush, lol nope! There were just two seats left at the bar and we snagged them. Staff were super friendly, great vibes, and the food was perfect. I'm originally from the east coast and was really craving something that resembled the food there. While I don't think anyone here can perfectly replicate the pizza and bread from out east, Little Arthur's did a bang up job anyways! I do wish they still used ribeye and that fancy cheese from Italy, but I get it, if no one is buying or there are other logistical reasons, then I guess ya gotta adjust. Just wish I would have tried his food before that happened, because there are some people that do appreciate the finer things in life. Still, really great pizza and cheesesteak's and will def be back!

Visited on a Sunday and was honestly let down. I was excited to have Little Arthur’s as I had visited the pop-up several times. Food: Don’t get me wrong they’re making good sandwiches, especially for Denver, but not quite the same as the pop-up. I suspect the quality of the meat has changed for the worse. Still, I would order the food again and try the pizza in the future, to-go. Service: The service was minimal and unfriendly. Limited to pouring beer and running out food. Sandwiches came to the table wrapped without so much as a paper plate or napkin, for that I was told there is a self service stand. Now that’s all well and good for a counter service place, but don’t expect an 18% tip (the minimum suggested on the POS system) for pouring a beer and setting a sandwich on a table. This unfriendly non-service is a huge change from Little Arthur’s pop-ups at King of Wings. Atmosphere: Plain taproom vibe, nothing special or unique. Overall: Good food for Denver, poor service, high cost, I would hope Little Arthur’s moves to its own brick and mortar so they can have more quality control over the atmosphere and service.

Wish I knew about this place sooner! Really great beer selection with choices won't see very often. They now have Little Arthur's serving food which is absolutely incredible. Go here with 4 friends and split the pizza. The pesto fries were an unexpected delight.

Google
Great service and people, been coming here since open; service is consistent. Timely, knowledgeable, fun, professional Cool venue. Indoors they got cool shutter type windows open in the summer very nice Good outdoor seating as well. Great selection of beers , like 20 or something, I just drink here lady. Trivia nights, other cool events and stuff. If you're within walking distance, this is top choice

Wide selection of local beers. A type for everyone. Plus Little Arthur’s kitchen dishing out best east coast style pizza and saandwiches you can find in Denver

Google
Food is by far the best in Denver, pizza is as good as New York. (I’m from New York) But the best part is Nick and Hala’s incredible service. Huge shoutout to their team for always being exceptional. Seriously though, food is insane

Google
Great little neighborhood taphouse with friendly staff and a constantly rotating selection of beers so you'll always find something you like.

Google
The beer options are fantastic and the pizza/hoagies look amazing but the staff is not very welcoming. Have been a few times now and the place was essentially empty and felt like we were a nuisance to the bartenders.

Yelp
Came here around 12pm on a week day and it was dead. We really liked the wide selection of beer they had including hazy ones (my favorite). It was also nice that they had a local beer selection that rotates frequently. It was just my boyfriend and I in there so the service was great and the bar tender kept good conversation and knew a lot about beer. Overall for the price of this place you cant beat it! It was a nice place to fill in the time while waiting to check in to our airbnb. Only downside was that they did not have many food options.

Yelp
Pizza was good, plenty of beers on tap and even some wine and cocktails. Little patio seating . Would def go back, pizza comes in one size and has nice thin crispy crust. Not too many options on the pizza, simple menu

Yelp
Although Denver is full of fabulous breweries, Out of the Barrel is by far my favorite spot to visit! The ambience, the setup, and the employees are always so inviting!

Yelp
Love this new restaurant! My friends and I were looking for a new space with Lowdown now closed and this does the trick. First the space is just wide open and bright. We're probably visiting here for a Friday afternoon soon to grab beers and "work." No clue if there's WiFi but the tables are big and great for groups. Second the beer selection is excellent. There were over 20 different beers including some Denver classics like the slow pour pils. Shout out the numbers and grab a flight. Lastly the staff is just fun. You gotta appreciate a spot where it felt like everybody knew the bartender.

Yelp
Grabbed a spicy turkey Italian sandwich here yday and it was delicious! Bread was perfect-- it took a pretty standard turkey sandwich to the next level. It was a little too pricey for just a turkey sandwich though --$22 before tax and tip. Yikes! Can't go very often with that price point

Yelp
Awesome new spot in the neighborhood. They offer beer, wine and a couple of cocktails which makes it a great choice for a group outing. There was something for everyone in our crew. We'll be back! Highlights: lots of great beers on tap, good for groups, friendly staff, changing table in the bathroom, good music

Yelp
Great beer selection with plenty of variety from top brewers. Friendly bar staff. Haven't tried the food yet but the 3 layer chocolate cake looks phenomenal.

Yelp
Great place to stop after a stressful Trader Joe's trip, just down the street. Accidentally walked into trivia, was too late to play but fun to play from the sidelines, will go in the future to play for the gift cards. Beer was good, local, and a lot of variety. Thanks Mallory and Marcin for the good times

Yelp
Went to OOTB in Capital Hill for their grand opening. As I walked up to the entrance, I could already see the tap house was packed so naturally I was excited to check it out. Met the husband and wife owners - Kyle and Sam - who welcomed my family and I with warm smiles. Right away, you could tell the ambiance is all about family and friends, perfect for the Cap Hill neighborhood. One of the biggest reasons I was so excited about this place opening is because it's been difficult to find a central location serving up great beers without having to drive all the way to these breweries. They have about 30 taps, pouring some of the best Colorado beer out there. They have the classics like Cerebral Brewing (my favorite), 4 Noses and WeldWorks, but also offered up a number of micro brews that I have never tasted or visited before. All of them were fantastic. For food, they offer quick pizzas and some snacks, which pair perfectly with their beer if you're just wanting a lighter meal. If you're looking for something more filling, next door is a great Thai place and Mexican restaurant, which you can take to-go and bring into the tap room. They also have a few televisions to watch sports and generally just a great, laid back vibe. Out front, it looks like they're in the process of building an outdoor deck / seating area, which will be awesome in the warmer months. The tap room also has sliding garage doors that open up, which will also provide a great atmosphere as we step into Spring and Summer next year.

Yelp
Brand new Tap house in Cap Hill, I have been there a couple times and if you like real craft beer this is it in Denver. They muat have 25 on tap. Owners Kyle and Sam are wonderful, down to earth folks. They have snacks and pizza which surprisingly good as I think it's frozen but I will have it again. This will be my go to for good beer and highly recommend!

Yelp
Great beer selection and ambience. Loved that they have patron parking in the back. No need to be looking for street parking. Great beer selection! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and the ambience was quiet and comfortable. Way better than the business that used to be located there before. Great customer service too. Would definitely come back and highly recommended!

Yelp
Great spot serving all local CO beers. Taps rotate all the time so you can always try a new brewery or seasonal beer. Also have a couple cocktails, snacks, small bites. Great spot to hang out!

Yelp
Spent Thanksgiving with family in Denver. Discovered the Out Of The Barrel Taproom specializing in beers from local breweries. There were so many beer options, I had to try a flight to see which beers I liked the best. Also, ordered a pizza which my wife and I enjoyed. The interior reminds me of a small local tavern where people enjoy getting together to talk, maybe play cards or watch a game on TV while having a beer. The staff is very knowledgeable about the beers they offer. They enjoy talking with their patrons and are very friendly. Looking forward to visiting family during the summer when the taproom garage door windows are open to the warm and beautiful weather.
