The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This West Philly cafe comes from the team behind Down North Pizza. Enjoy breakfast sandwiches and baked goods, coffee and lemonade, or an early afternoon cheesesteak (they close at 4pm). We checked out Out West and added it to the Hit List." - candis mclean, alison kessler

Out West - Review - West Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Coffee shops are not one-matcha-espresso-fits-all. There are some where roasting “experts” come to get a decent espresso, and others where people on a deadline rely on a good playlist and a pillowy cinnamon roll to power them through the morning. Out West in West Philly is both, and a lot more. The tri-level cafe comes from the team behind Down North, and the kitchen leans heavily towards Philly comfort food: peppery lamb scrapple smeared with a harissa strawberry jam and braised brisket sandwiches for breakfast, and cheeseburgers and cheesesteaks for lunch (which we’ll be back for). Grab a seat, the avocado lemonade, and admire the rotating artwork by Black creators. photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN video credit: CANDIS R. Run! Here! The best brisket I’ve had in years. Incredible menu. (Honorable mention: Lamb scrapple sandwich- There’s jam on that sandwich that we spent an hour talking about.) Such a great spot for breakfast/lunch. We’ll be coming back sooner than later! Thank you for the good vibes & incredible food!

Tens. Across. The. Board!! This cheestrak hit the spot sooooo hard. Three girlies ate from that sandwich! It was sooooo good. Would 100% recommend. They have a dope working space on the second floor, excellent service and the coffee was top tier. Cannot wait to go back and make this my new spot. Tell everyone to support this place.

Awesome addition to the neighborhood—immaculate vibes, calm, pleasing aesthetic, and super delicious, creative food and drinks. We tried the cardamom latte, brisket breakfast sandwich, sweet potato hash, and cinnamon roll. Everything was so yummy & we can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Cinnamon roll was our fave, probably the best and most interesting cinnamon roll I’ve ever tasted. Caramelized on the bottom, soft inside, nicely spiced (maybe a bit of cardamom along with the cinnamon?), dough tasted like it had a little sweet potato in it, topped w/ cream cheese frosting and pecans. There were a constant stream of people (Saturday) but indoor bar/ tables + huge outdoor patio seating can accommodate a lot.

I had a cinnamon roll and the Ube espresso latte, both of which were phenomenal! I’ll definitely be going back to try their sandwiches. I’m so glad this spot opened up~it’s a gem!

Incredible addition to the neighborhood. Amazing drinks, amazing food, perfect place to hangout and read a book or catch up with a friend, colleague or on emails. Clearly a spot that is for and by the community it is serving. They have an instant regular.

Yelp
I like that a classy place like this is establishing itself in this primarily gritty part of town from my quick observation. This particular section is in an area that is hoping to gentrify where is in sandwiched between another section that maybe gentrified a bit and another iffy section. There is a nice upstairs and a separate outside courtyard at a different path. I didn't notice the egg in the IG picture for the brisket until I got the sandwich and it works. Were there sauces to choose for both the biscuit and burger? I didn't notice any but maybe there were. I think that would've put this meal over the top for me. The avocado lemonade was fine. Staff is friendly and I got the last sweet potato biscuit of the day.
