Seattle’s Outlier Restaurant Turns Into a Milkshake and Burger Bar - Eater Seattle

"Outlier opened in 2017 as a restaurant serving small plates from around the world. Now it has transitioned into a decadent burger and milkshake bar with options ranging from a standard burger with roasted red onions to a cheese-stuffed chorizo burger with queso Oaxaca and guajillo salsa. The menu also includes extravagant milkshakes, such as a s’mores shake and another garnished with a whole pink glazed donut." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart

"A stalwart on the “best of” lists, this restaurant blends dynamic global cuisine with comfort food… set against a steampunky-sports bar décor. None of this should work, but it very much does. The industrial touches evoke the city’s heritage as a Western working town, as well as its iconic grunge epoch that swept the globe. (The bottle-cap portrait of local legend Jimi Hendrix is especially endearing.) Don’t miss the chicken khao soi , foraged-mushroom pizza with taleggio, or the sublime Vadouvan-spiced carrots with thin curls of feta smoked in-house. The restaurant’s connected to the Kimpton Hotel Monaco and also delivers a mean breakfast, from malted waffles to duck confit hash with cippolini and dried cherries."

Where to Find Great Chef’s Counters in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"Offered at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for two people, the noodle bar at this downtown spot is a $25 two-course experience. Google
This was my first time trying this restaurant and I was heavily disappointed. As much as I loved the ambiance, I think the food was pretty average for me. 1) Shrinking the menu didn’t work well in this case as the food was not at all outstanding 2) The service was pretty fast and ambiance as mentioned earlier was good (could have been perfect for a celebration) 3) We ordered : ➕Chicken Burger - Decent taste but not worth the charge ➕Smoked Brisket Pizza (meatless) - Absolute throw away , the bbq sauce was very strong and tangy ➕Sweet Potato tots - Nice and Crispy ➕Rocky Road Milkshake (w/ Booze) - Rich and tasty but again not worth the charge

This restaurant was nearby the hotel I was staying at and with the limited options in the area for dining, I decided to try Outlier. Unfortunately the food was terrible, I ordered the calamari but it was very soft and lacked a crispy exterior for a good calamari. Also got the steak and frites and didn't think a steak can be done terribly but I was wrong. First time I've never finished a steak while dining out.. The sauce was lacking and the steak was overly salty and strangely too soft. This dinner was my first meal of the day since I've been travelling and I was hungry at this point. But that didn't help, the only item that was adequately edible were the truffle fries. Service was attentive and polite. They asked to refill my drink several times and came by with water... However no one ever asked how the food was tasting even when I left most of my plates partial eaten. I don't think there was anything that could have been added to make the food taste any better. That was an expensive meal for such poor quality and taste.. I sure hope the restaurant reads through these reviews and take the feedback for improvement.

Real good pizza, 😊just like mine. Great service! Nice chef! Little busy in the end and it was slow getting out. High prices. My Son loved the shake too. I ordered a pizza without cheese.

Google
We stayed at the Monaco and had breakfast here. Loved the decor and the staff was very attentive. We ordered breakfast - the classic and the BLAT. Both came out quickly, were hot and tasted great! The fresh fruit plate we had was excellent as well. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Came here with a couple of our grown children before going to an improv show. Food was good, Frank, our server was very nice and very helpful. Everything was clean and relaxed. Had a great time.

Google
the food was very disappointing, the heirloom tomato salad was bad, since the whole dish was cold, as if it just came out of the fridge, and therefore the tomatoes had no flavor. The waiter was great, and offered to take off the salad from the bill, compensating for a really bad food experience. Two stars for the food, five stars for the service.

Google
My family and i had great service and excellent food. I’m not normally a fan of chunks of meat like steak, but the ribeye/filet mignon (can’t remember name sorry!) was the best I’ve ever had period. I really hope to meet the chef after the renos are complete. I’ll be excited to go back when the atmosphere matches the experience. This was the best meal I’ve had in Seattle. Extremely underrated.

Google
We went here for breakfast. Not a very varied breakfast menu but what we had was good. The food was cooked just right and I was impressed they served what I believe was blackberry jam instead of the standard grape or strawberry. The toast was just right!

Yelp
Went here for dinner with coworkers, we had reservations set. The table was ready for us when we got there. Nice ambience, it's a big restaurant connected to a hotel. The food was ok. Service was really good.

Yelp
Solid dinner restaurant located in the Hotel Kimpton Monaco. Servers were friendly and attentive. I had a few meals here. Burger was good but stacked so tall I had to deconstruct it and eat with a fork and knife. The french fries were hot and delicious. Another night I had a house salad and pepperoni pizza. Also fine. We had a group dinner and they brought down some garage doors to create a separate room. The noise was unbearable, you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. The group dinner was served family style. The salmon was overcooked for my taste. The calamari had a lot of breading that didn't add much flavor. The bread and various butters they started with were quite tasty. Overall I'd say it's fine for a meal if you don't want to venture out of the hotel.

Yelp
Came in for dinner and didn't realize until we were in the restaurant that it was located within our hotel for the night. Just ordered some appetizers to split with my mom. Bread with butter and broccolini. Both were delicious and surprisingly very filling for us both.

Yelp
The Outlier's decor is probably my favorite thing about this restaurant. The food and service...ehh..left more to be desired really. Our server was a bit limited in his knowledge of the drink offerings as he 'only works breakfast' and the food was good but not great. I'm not sure I'd want to go again but I guess I could ‍

Yelp
I really don't love leaving reviews about a mediocre spot, but I'd be hard-pressed to find great things to say about this place. One the one hand, our server was lovely, prompt, and remembered all the orders (and seemed to be the only one in the restaurant -- hats off to her!) and the appetizers were okay, but on the other hand, entrees ranged from disappointing to inedible, and the overall meal was just a let-down. We were looking for a spot for a larger group on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday, and the birthday girl picked this place solely for the Instagrammable milkshakes. None of us had been here, none of us had heard of it -- which was probably a sign -- but alas, we decided to give it a go, especially because they had the space. For appetizers, I tried the grilled carrots with romesco, feta, and pea shoots. Some of the carrots were hard and near-impossible to cut into, and only half had the sauce on them, and I'm pretty sure I didn't see any pea shoots. But overall this dish was fine, if not unremarkable. We also shared a beet salad, which tasted fine, but again, far from memorable. For my entree, I picked the roasted cauliflower bowl, which is described as coming with "currant - faro - pistachio - pomegranate - herb vin." What arrived was a chilled bowl (legitimately felt like it came out of the fridge) and a cold mound of farro with pomegranates sprinkled around it. The cauliflower was under there, and the whole thing was drowning in what tasted like white vinegar. Two things are wrong with this dish: 1) it's cold (but not described that way), and 2) it's just not very good. A friend graciously offered to a piece of her margherita pizza to try. The crust was hard and difficult to chew (another diner in our party had the fig and prosciutto pizza and said hers felt like it was a pizza on a nacho). Ambiance-wise, the restaurant looks like every interior trend from five years ago compacted into a hotel restaurant. Subway tiles? Check. Ladder shelf? Check. Random roll-up garage doors inside the restaurant? Check check. To top it all off, the meal was pretty expensive. Looking at the bill, I'm not sure tax was calculated properly, there was an auto-20% gratuity (happy to pay -- again, our server was great!), and a random surcharge (large group fee? Living wages? Not sure.) Suffice it to say, we won't be returning anytime soon.

Yelp
Food was good, service was good and the drag brunch would have been amazing... however the picture of our view shows why it wasn't. I can't complain about anything other than the view. It felt like we were on the outside looking in. Not a great 1st time drag brunch experience. But, I was invited by someone who had free tickets, so I wasn't about to complain about that. Thankfully I didn't have to pay, because I would have been pissed. I might be back. But only if I can pick my damn table

Yelp
I was not super impressed with the outlier. I was looking for some fun cocktails and I think the flavors were just a little too eccentric for me. I think the outlier is more known for it's food. Their happy hour looks pretty good but we were there around 7pm and HH ends at 5. I ordered some appetizers because I wasn't super hungry for a full meal. The only appetizer I truly loved was the smoked artichoke dip that came with homemade potato chips. Those chips were so light and crunchy! I was obsessed and wanted to eat a whole bucket of them. The corn bread was ok. I liked that it was more savory but I wasn't getting a strong flavor and it was sort of bland. The burrata was pretty good you can't go wrong there. I ordered a classic old fashion cocktail and it was what it was.. classic. I was satisfied with it. We got a milkshake to try and they were gracious enough to comp the milkshake because one of our appetizers (calamari) was never delivered. I was sadly not a huge fan of the texture of the milkshake, however, the flavor was there! I actually enjoyed the peanut butter chocolate flavor. I just wish the milkshake was thicker and maybe had more ice cream flavor to it. As for the ambiance, it feels like a classier restaurant bar. I do enjoy the look and feel of this place with the different leather chairs and couch/booth. However, it is quite loud and I would not bring work people here for a work dinner. I would probably bring a group of friends. The table we were seated next to was extremely loud and obnoxious sharing too much about divorce and raising kids.... Not really the restaurants fault for their loudness, and they were ordering tons of food and drinks. As for service, I think they certainly did their best. It looked like they were short staffed which is an ongoing struggle with a lot of places right now. Our server was doing his best to be attentive to us and make sure our food was getting out on time while also tending to the other, much larger tables. Everyone here was very kind and you can tell they are working hard. I might come back for happy hour if Im back in this part of Seattle again because I was intrigued by their happy hour menu.

Yelp
This spot is so inconsistent but has so much potential. I often stay at Hotel Monaco so this is very convenient to get for meals while I'm in town, but there is always an issue with either customer service (not for this one, she was great this time) or with food quality. I got the beet salad with shrimp, some of the worst looking and tasting shrimp due to the cook and seasoning that I've had. You can see some are burnt on one side, super underdone on the other, or just overall shriveled up. It's as if the cook set it and walked away and then served before flipping. I love to cook shrimp but am by no means a snob for them usually, but these were just no bueno. Hope they can manage to turn the lack luster food around and hopefully someday bring back the Manila clams as that was always what had me wanting to give them another chance (no longer on the menu just fyi). Also got the asparagus fries as an Appy, no flavor in them so I didn't eat much but the sauces were great.

Yelp
Visiting Seattle and wanted to try a breakfast location. Despite the place being relatively empty at 10am, service was slow from coming to the table to place our orders and bringing out the food, so I can't imagine what it would be like during peak hours. The French Toast was alright and nothing special nor something to rave about. They used very standard sliced bread and the flavor was what you'd expect from a French toast you could make yourself at home.

Yelp
Came here before a Seahawks game for brunch with my friends and WOW! I'm beyond impressed! We made reservations and am glad we did. It was pretty busy but the servers were on top of their game so it wasn't an issue. My friends had the eggs Benedict which looked phenomenal and I tried the Welsh Rarebit - which was out of this world. It's an open-faced sandwich on sourdough with beer cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. Of course no pre-game brunch would be complete without mimosas and a rosemary mule - perfection. I'll definitely come back again - maybe even stay for a night away with the husband at Hotel Monaco.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and it's always tasty and friendly, a nice respite in the middle of downtown. Great deals for happy hour too!

Yelp
Good spot for happy hour! The drinks are good and the food is tasty. Location is great for heading to walk on the waterfront afterwards.

Yelp
Outlier is a good choice for a weekday breakfast or brunch. They make great coffee, and have a good selection of items on the menu for all appetites. I loved the avocado toast which came with a perfectly soft boiled egg. Service is friendly and you won't wait too long for a table - the restaurant is quite large. If you're a guest at the Kimpton hotel up the hill, they let you charge it to your room bill.

Yelp
We so enjoyed the location and venue! The hope was that we would be able to love the food similarly! A hiccup or two around the order interpretation! However the ambiance and service were fine!

Yelp
A great restaurant in downtown Seattle tucked away in Hotel Monaco. First off, this place has a great atmosphere and plenty of space. The staff were friendly and the service was spot on. This place worked like a well oiled machine and was some of the best service in Seattle. As far as the food goes, it was delicious. The smash burger has a great flavor and was juicy. For the chicken sandwich, it was full of unique flavors and cooked to perfection. For the wings, they were just the right amount of spicy and were very flavorful. As far as the desserts and drinks, they were vibrant and flavorful. There were many items on the menu I wanted to try and defiantly will be back for more. If you're looking for a great place to dine at, check this place out.

Yelp
Extremely cute restaurant and perfect for date nights! I wanted to try this place out after seeing an Instagram post and was not disappointed. The restaurant is inside the beautiful Hotel Monaco and looks very fancy from the outside. The menu was was pretty expansive and I settled on a smash burger, cauliflower fries and a boozy sprinkles milkshake. The burger was pretty good with a decent flavor. My favorite item was the boozy milkshake. The presentation alone was terrific as they serve it with sparklers. The milkshake also consists of syringe with vodka that you can inject in your drink. The cotton candy on the side was a nice touch. Overall this was really cute place and the food was good. The only drawback is the price. I paid close to $100 for just a few items. This would be a deterrent on visiting again. Definitely recommend visiting!

Yelp
I was really excited to see that Outlier was apart of restaurant week, so I made a reservation for my partner and I for dinner. The place itself is clean, really modern, and a nice place to eat or grab a drink. The service and people are great! However, the food was not impressive. We started off with the chicken wings and fried pickles. The chicken wings had a lot of flavor, it was my favorite dish. The fried pickles were ok, but the breading wasn't great which made them a bit soggy rather than crispy. I then got the chicken sandwhich. This sandwhich was extremely bland even though it was supposed to have aioli and other spices. It tasted like nothing. The chicken is chicken thigh, which would be ok, but it was really dry. I couldn't finish it. My partner got the smash burger which was actually a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It was dry and also very bland. Fries came with the dish but they lacked salt, and they were pretty soft rather than nice and crisp. For dessert we got the lemon cake and s'mores milkshake. The lemon cake was awful! It was so dry, you could crumble it into powder. However, the s'more shake was pretty good. It's a vanilla shake with all the s'mores toppings. Nothing spectacular but cool looking. Overall, the food is not quite there yet.

Yelp
Not a great experience. Wanted to eat in the hotel after traveling 8 hours with an 86 year old. Rotisserie chicken over salted. Linguine pasta with shrimp almost no shrimp. What annoyed me the most was the overcharging my mom ordered a rail old fashioned and was charged for an up charge Hennessy! We were also charged a surcharge with no explanation ! Would not recommend!
google avatar

JL S.

Yelp
Prompt breakfast service on a Friday morning while staying at the Kimpton Monaco. $10 food and beverage credit included with the nightly destination fee. Stackable if not used one or more days. The American breakfast was as expected. Service wasn't great. Server forgot tea but left it on the bill. Didn't apologize when I asked him to remove the charge. He also forced me to recite my room number and last name while I still had food in my mouth. I could have just written it on the receipt like every other hotel.
google avatar

Yelp
I recommend this place for their extravagant milkshakes and burgers. We tried the birthday cake milkshake, which came with a funfetti cupcake, waffle cone, and cotton candy. It looked great and tasted delicious.

Stevie H.

Yelp
Incredible service. Our server started out by asking if there were any allergies to be aware of, or if there was a special event being celebrated. I was taken aback by a server having questions for me before I had questions for them!! Be prepared to be waited on hand and foot here, they really go the extra mile. Serving sizes were generous and they even split our salad without charge- salad plates were cold and it was very clear that they thought about every aspect of each dish that they serve here. 11/10, and the MILKSHAKES!? Come with an empty stomach or a crowd to share it with!! Great spot. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious pizza.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Missed the mark- service was cold, food was flavorless and seems overpriced, nice atmosphere I'm all for supporting the downtown businesses and it's hard to find sit down lunch options. This place has burgers, salads and hefty special milkshakes. Ordered the Caesar and they were very accommodating to swap out kale for romaine. The grilled chicken was amazing- moist, flavorful and hot. The dressing was flavorless. The burgers ordered at our table were inconsistent. All ordered medium but they came out ranging from slimy rare to medium well. No fries with the burgers so we ordered a couple of sides with dipping sauces. All dipping sauces were bland and flavorless and the fries were soggy.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place. The food was great and the waiter was helpful since he knew we were just visiting. We could have talked to him all day. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Grace D.

Yelp
We found this place on yelp and wanted to check it out. We went at lunch and it was pretty empty. It took awhile for someone to seat us but once we sat down we ordered drinks and our food. The burgers were pretty tasty and the drinks were delicious( we did the bartenders choice where you pick your base and the bartender makes you whatever they want). We finished our food and waited 40 min for someone to come back to our table so we could cash out- that was the main reason for a star lost. Over all it's a chill place and I recommend.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
We tried to get room service from this restaurant while staying in the adjoining hotel but couldn't so we had to go to the restaurant to place a takeout order (they couldn't staff their phone for call-in orders!). Service was friendly but had to wait a long time for our order to be made. We also got two cocktails to take back to our room which were good but not amazing. For food we got steak frites, the special fish of the day which was scallops, a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and a brownie sundae for dessert plus a large green salad. Salad was great but standard. The steak was well cooked but needed seasoning (aka salt) and the scallops also needed seasoning but were small and overcooked. The frites were delicious with plenty of seasoning and the pizza was also great and had that nice pizza oven taste and char to it. Brownie sundae was very enjoyable but wished the brownie was warmed up. I wouldn't really come back for any of the food or drinks for the price paid, maybe the pizza but that is it.

Yelp
Staying at the Monaco hotel, we tried going to the "outlier" restaurant attached to the hotel. We showed up a hour before closing, a host came up and said there would be a 25 minute wait (it was pretty dead, plenty tables open), completely acceptable. We said that's fine and decided to wait. He asked for our information and added us to the waitlist. We then go upstairs to wait for our call that our table was ready. It passed the 25 minute mark so I clicked the text message that shows you your place in line. Come to findout they cancelled the waitlist and didn't even tell us or let us know when we showed up that they couldn't take us. Mediocre way to handle a simple situation, will never attempt to eat here again. 1/10. However, we DoorDashed McDonalds instead, Omar came in clutch cause we were starving after they pulled this silly stunt. His service was much better than the folks at the outlier. He was fast, food came hot, and he was a nice person. 10/10 for Omar.

Yelp
We are not very familiar with the city and were staying nearby, so we wanted a walk-able restaurant that had good food but wasn't too fussy or ostentatious. I think we found it here. It is a bit interesting that it's in a big hotel. Usually big hotels have *expensive* restaurants, not *cool* restaurants. The pizza could have a stiffer-cooked crust, but it was good. The special of the day was salmon over what was allegedly succotash, but was mainly roasted peppers and corn and gnochi -- with a walnut pesto! It was really stupendous! And you could smell its interesting flavors as the kind waiter delivered it! The place was not busy. There is a full bar with some tv's, but the tv's don't dominate the place. It was exactly what we were looking for!
google avatar

Parth S.

Yelp
The food didn't have a lot of flavor, and it was slightly undercooked. Their service was pretty good and the restaurant was very well setup for sports games with their tv and full bar. Their food is not the best though.

Dimitri B.

Yelp
This place was OK. Staff was friendly, but the food was just ok. I don't have much more to say about it than that honestly, because that bothered us was the fact that we had a 5% surcharge for "COVID and inflation." I am understanding of small businesses and constantly support them, but this restaurant is attached to a hotel in downtown Seattle near Pikes Place, and NOWHERE else in Washington that we went for 5 days had a surcharge like this. Gratuity was over and above this as well. It's time for them to roll that back and remove this fee.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Get the garlic fries. Just do it. Like, seriously just do it!!! We had to order two because my kiddo ate 80% of my fries. I ordered a small salad that was pretty big with steak added. My kiddo enjoyed their cheeseburger too. Seriously though the highlight of our meals was the garlic fries!!! YUM!
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Good spot if your in the hotel. Fair prices and a decent selection of beer. Waiters and managers were all cool. Hamburger was great. , the breakfast was pretty good. Good place to unwind. Not open too late which was the only bummer . I'll be bsck
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
I ordered the brisket pizza and also tried the jalapeño poppers and fry basket. The crust of the pizza and the combination of flavors were pretty good but there was very little brisket and the brisket chunks on it were kind of tough. Jalapeño poppers and fries were pretty average. Price wise this place is super overpriced for what you get. It's definitely aimed at the corporate employees getting their meals expensed by their companies (which I was too lol). The restaurant itself is pretty nice inside but the service was slow despite being pretty empty on a weekday during lunch.

Yelp
I have been riding by THE OUTLIER for years now. I have always been curious about it and that curiosity grew, even more, when they opened a patio. You see, it's not often when a hotel invests in their lobby bars. The Outlier is part of The Monaco Hotel on 4th street in downtown Seattle. The fact that they have invested in a redesign shows that they are committed to making a statement with this restaurant. Now, WHAT that statement is, THATS a mixed bag. I guess you'd call it "Industrial" I guess. While I appreciated the open spaces and soaring ceilings, I was a little confused by their use of fencing to close off certain areas. Keeping that in mind, it worked well with the color schemes. But again FENCING. It made me think of that bar from THE BLUES BROTHERS movie where the stage was surrounded by chicken wire to prevent the band from catching flying bottles to the face. The service was good enough to take my mind off of that and the food was just as good. I enjoyed a salmon BLT with truffle fries. I wanted to try the fried ribs but they were all out of those. The weather prevented us from enjoying the patio but, I will be going back. The martini I had was very good but of course, I can't recall the name right now. All in all, I would recommend The Outlier as a very enjoyable hotel bar with lots of room and wonderful food and martinis. Just if you go, let me know what you thought about the fencing.

Yelp
Was at the Kimpton next door. Came over for the happy hour. Was not disappointed - cold, local beer on tap and a really thin, crisp pizza with a great combination of flavors - pork, peppers and pepperoni. Would eat here without being a hotel guest, and lots of space to watch sports at the bar TV.

Bonnie W.

Yelp
Don't recommend for dinner. Protein entrées (salmon and pork loin) very overpriced considering they were the size of appetizers. No side vegetables. Chicken caesar salad dredged in dressing, chicken burnt. Will say that waiter was very nice.

R J.

Yelp
Seriously? Seeing a roaring fire in the pizza oven caused us to expect great pizzas, but we were sadly disappointed. Pizza crust edges were not even browned & the center was soggy & undercooked. Toppings were so VERY limited it was merely pizza dough for $22. Caesar salad ($16) arrived with brown-edged lettuce & VERY limited shaved parmesan. Best part of the meal was the wine we selected. Kimpton Hotel Monaco does itself no favor with this lobby restaurant, while the Tulio at Kimpton Hotel Vintage is top notch.

Yelp
Fun, energetic ambiance! Close by to downtown office buildings for a quick work dinner. Ordered the Outlier burger, grilled delicata squash (super fresh burrata), and the maple fries were deliciously seasoned! It was a little bit hard to hear because it was so loud, though, but overall great experience!

Yelp
Called for a takeout burger/fries and roasted cauliflower bowl. Was ready on time and was hot when I picked it up. Burger was good and done how I like it. Cauliflower bowl was excellent.

Yelp
Very good and pretty food nice for date and friends. Milkshakes are insane the cup is small but good size with food 18 for it tho

Yelp
Ordered the "grilled chicken" burger to take to our room. I was expecting a chicken breast but it was a ground chicken patty instead. Pickle on the side tasted like cloves

Yelp
Convenient downtown location with a seasonal menu, upscale furnishings, and a full bar with a multitude of selections. We were staying downtown at the attached hotel and made a reservation for dinner here so that we wouldn't have to worry about getting out in the rain. We were seated promptly. Our waitress came by quickly to take our drink order. She couldn't provide any recommendations on gin so we made our own selection instead. We ordered the grilled oysters as an appetizer and they were delicious! It's the only way I can convince my husband to eat oysters and he really enjoyed these. For dinner, I had the halibut with summer vegetables and my husband had the steak and rice. My halibut was juicy and delicious! It was mouthwateringly good. My husband's steak was cooked to his exact standards and he loved it. The rice was also different because it was mixed with different seasonings. It was very good. For dessert, my husband had the apple upside down cake with earl grey ice cream and I had rocky road ice cream. His dessert was absolute perfection. I wasn't sure about earl grey ice cream, but it was amazing and paired so well with the cake. My ice cream was just what you want from a couple of scoops of rocky road. Overall this meal was exceptional and we really enjoyed ourselves. The only thing to note, which is the reason for the 4 star, is that our waitress just didn't seem to like us or care enough to provide any input. She was also slow to come around and check on us. It just felt a little off. My husband commented on it before I brought it up, but we both felt it. I'm not sure what the deal was there.

Yelp
Ate there last night, service slow at first. Sat at bar. Ambiance open, kitchen can watch cook. Service got way better after ordered. Ordered chicken bbq pizza . A must try was excellent! Calamari not so much soggy! Salad dressing had a peanut taste. I'm glad I'm not allergic and lacked flavor. Drinks were good. Overall would give it a try if in town.

Yelp
I can't believe the level of stupid of the billing system/person. a week later I am still getting charges back and forth the actual bill was charged but so were 2 other charges and then taken off and now they were added together and charged again. I should charge them for the time I have spent on hold. never again.

Yelp
The Cubano sandwich they post on their menu versus the Cubano sandwich we received. You choose. Wish there was a way to give them a negative score. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
My friend and I did a walk-in for dinner. We got seated at a booth within 2mins of walking-in. The waiter got our order and dishes within 10-15mins. My friend had an seafood order which had the fish's face and eyes served. He did not like the dish at all. My caffeine coffee was very strong and the cup had coffee spilled outside of it. The pizza was not toasted well and the cheese was falling off of it. The overall layout and energy of the room was great but the food was not good.

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast. Nice selection on menu. I ordered the Croque Madame...delish! My son ordered the French toast and that was a good size portion and also very good. Hubby got the American breakfast and this was a fine dish too. Service was good however a little slow to get our check. Nice casual atmosphere. Great coffee!

Yelp
My friend and I came here for happy hour and thought the drinks were better than the bites. Although they do allow happy hour throughout the entire restaurant until 5pm (extended 'til 6pm in the bar), we thought the food was overpriced, even on happy hour. I ordered a Manhattan and we shared the Korean Fried Chicken Wings and Chicken Mole Tacos. Of the two food items the chicken mole tacos were by far better than the wings. Although you only get two tacos, they were tasty and really liked the housemade blue tortillas. I was also glad that the mole sauce was light. The Korean Fried Chicken Wings, which you only get three of, which we thought was an odd number, was disappointing. Although the menu says it's made with Gochuchang sauce, I could not taste any kind of spice at all, which was unfortunate since Gochuchang sauce adds a great spicy flavor, and I assume is why the item is called Korean Fried Chicken Wings. Peanuts were also hard to taste, and the fry of the batter was overcooked. I would not recommend ordering these, even at six bucks on happy hour. If I were to come back to Outlier, it would only be for drinks. My six-dollar Manhattan was solid and on happy hour, they do offer five-dollar craft brews and seven-dollar wines. Drinks is where it's at for happy hour, and is primarily why I'm giving this place three stars instead of two. Ya heard it.

Yelp
We came here for dinner on a Friday night at around 6pm. The place was empty, which is kind of a red flag for downtown Seattle on a weekend. The group of us were just excited that we wouldn't have to wait as long to get our orders so we ignored the negative reviews. I'll start off by saying there seemed to be discord within the front of house staff and the other people working in the restaurant. I overheard a female manager speaking rudely to the hostess and the mood was tense. This was another red flag. The older female was rude to my friend and I as well - she was having a drink at the bar and was asking if we could move to a table for dinner. The older female sort of rolled her eyes at us and waived us over to the front door to wait so she could see what the availability was. I found this to be odd as the restaurant had patrons at the bar and maybe one table in the dining area. Nonetheless we proceeded to have dinner here. The food was very good - flatbreads were not burnt on the bottom and had excellent texture. The oysters were fresh and delicious. I liked that the menu was so varied and offered options that even the pickiest in our group enjoyed. I was sad when the other restaurant closed in the Kimpton Monaco hotel as it had a southern flair and had a great front of house staff. Dishes at present are a bit on the pricey side for what they offer. The restrooms are still through the hotel lobby and down the stairs or elevator (not so conducive if you are wearing high heels). Do note that they add a surcharge to your bill and that notice is written in fine print somewhere (I didn't notice it before the bill came).
