Working downtown SF means cafe hopping to fill in the time! My team and I decided to have our meetings in cute cafes, and this was on the list I've been wanting to try!
This was actually not too far away from my office (roughly a 10 minute walk from Mission street). It's a super bright and orange cafe that you cannot miss on the corner.
What really caught my attention are the variety of drinks and food that they have here, which usually range from $2.50-$6.95. Most drink items are Asian-inspired or very interesting concepts (ex: they have an orange espresso drink). What sparked my interest was the fact they had a durian latte!! I'm all for the fruit + coffee concept, so I had to try this place out. I also was in awe of all the food they had, so I ended up grabbing some stuff too.
I ended up getting the following:
-Durian Latte with Oat Milk: $6.95 base price + $0.50-$1 extra for oat milk I believe.
-Korean Garlic Cheese Bagel: $5.95
-Taro Ube Hanabi Box Cake: $8.95
My total came out to be around $24 including the $0.25 bag fee.
Also!! Wanted to add that they do have a few tables + bar tops around and some folding chairs in case you need more of them at the tables. It's a bigger space, but I don't think you can fit too many parties in here due to the lack of tables.
REVIEW OF EACH ITEM:
-Durian Latte: I know durian isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I grew up loving and eating SO much durian. Any place that offers durian on the menu is an A+ in my book - I always have to try it!! I really love the combination of coffee and durian in my latte. I thought It might make my stomach hurt, but the creaminess + sweetness from the durian complimented the bitterness of the coffee. I ended up drinking my coffee SO fast because I loved this drink. 4/5 but definitely I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea.
-Korean Garlic Bagel: OMG YOU HAVE TO GET THIS! i was SO surprised that there were a ton of these bagels left, but I keep thinking about this bagel. If you're familiar with the viral Korean cream cheese garlic bread, this is very similar! The only thing that's different is that there is corn within the cream cheese, a TON of garlic confit, and it's toasted to perfection. What I loved most about this is that it's already sliced up for you. You just need to wait for them to warm it up and it's ready to eat. It has a great balance of sweet and savory, since this does lean more of a sweet garlic taste. Highly recommend trying this out!! 5/5
-Taro Ube Hanabi Cake: I've had Hanabi cakes before, but I don't believe I had their taro/ube before. It's my goal to try a variety of flavors (thankfully this place does sell other flavors too!!). What I love most about these box cakes is the fact that they're a personal size and you can eat 1 by yourself. It's easy to carry around and it's the perfect amount. However, I do have to give this a 3/5 since this does learn more taro than Ube. It's more of a sweet yam flavor, which has a bit of grittiness to it. Not overly sweet at all, and I do like the cake with it. I definitely will have to try the other flavors. Nothing too special about this flavor.
Overall, this coffee shop is on my rotating list! I'll definitely come here more often because I definitely want to try a good chunk of the menu!
