"Pizza by the slice is something that London’s food scene is seriously lacking. Enter Doctor Dough Pizza which serves excellent NYC-style slices from a pop-up stall in Hammersmith’s Lyric Square. The slices are big and the thick tomato sauce—with whole burst cherry tomatoes—is some of the best we’ve ever tasted. The margherita isn’t cheese-heavy, but the mozzarella pokes out from underneath the sauce, and with the sprinkling of parmesan cheese on top, you get the perfect ratio of everything in each bite. "Outsider Tart is an American restaurant and bakery in Chiswick specialising in quintessential stateside cakes, bakes, pies and tarts owned by New York expats, David Lesniak and David Muniz. The New York crumb cake came about from missing the kind of “coffee cake” intrinsic to any American diner. The sponge is a soft yet sturdy vanilla sheet cake made with sour cream which helps achieve the textural bliss of a cake that has a tight crumb structure whilst remaining tender and moist. It is topped with a thick and crunchy layer of brown sugar cinnamon streusel, and finished with a vanilla milk glaze. Throughout Halloween and Thanksgiving, find pumpkin-themed treats including its classic deep-dish pumpkin pie, a cloud-like baked pumpkin cheesecake with a fine graham cracker base, and a brand new pumpkin snickerdoodle slice that sees the pie baked into a snickerdoodle cookie crust and topped with cinnamon brown sugar streusel. Each year, the eccentric duo of New York expats behind Outsider Tart, David Lesniak and David Muniz, celebrate Thanksgiving at the restaurant with ticketed family-style dinners. This year’s feast features no less than 22 dishes, from meringue-baked pecans, rosemary roasted nuts, stuffed grapes, and homemade cheez its to start. They’re followed by roast turkey with sides including cranberry cornbread stuffing, pumpkin mac and cheese, American green bean casserole, corn pudding, sweet potato slaw, and just about anything else diners could wish for.
