Creative British pub food plus a big beer selection & a fireplace amid leather, wood & wallpaper.
"Owen & Engine. The burger will live on in my heart forever, and hopefully at Bixi Beer as well." - Ashok Selvam
"Owen & Engine and Bo Fowler made it through the pandemic’s worst as the acclaimed chef reopened her British pub in early 2022 after eight months. It wasn’t just COVID that Fowler was fighting; she was coming back from a heart attack in early 2020. This was all happening as she managed a second restaurant, Bixi Beer, also in Logan Square. But Owen & Engine’s return will be short-lived. Fowler on Friday morning announced she’s shutting down O&E next month. Fittingly, the restaurant’s final service will be on a Tuesday. That’s the day Owen & Engine hosted its regularly scheduled burger, beer, and bourbon special. The thick-cut burger, made with beef from Slagel Family Farm and a bap baked onsite, reigned as one of the city’s best burgers." - Ashok Selvam
"The pandemic forced the owners of Owen & Engine to close while making sense of the new world. Fortunately for Chicago diners, the staff didn’t quit for this restaurant that serves upscale British pub food with farm-to-table sourcing. The fish and chips is back; battered haddock served with a super-charged malt vinegar aioli." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff
"This beloved pub is known for its great British beer list and chef Bo Fowler’s passion of farm-to-table sourcing. The pub burger is among the best in Chicago thanks to its homemade bap. The other items give a true slice of British cuisine, including British Indian delights. The place gets crowded on weekends, so get there early." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff
"Chef and restaurateur Bo Fowler (Bixi Beer) thrilled many in early 2022 when she reopened Owen & Engine, her comfy English-style pub that had sat empty since the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. At long last, patrons can now tuck into favorites like Scotch eggs, Bubble and Squeak, and haddock fish and chips." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam
